Mais, qui est son chum?

Here is Jessica's dear friend Sarah, wondering my goodness, where is Jessica's chum (boyfriend). There's her brother's gf, there's her sister's bf, but no Jessica's bf. Where is he?

Ah, says Jessica. It is he who took the photo!

Yes, this is what I thought, replies Sarah.

Is this for our benefit - of course. Otherwise Sarah would say, where's 'Simon"? You know, use a name. Or not ask, because Sarah already knows. The whole thing is for our benefit.

Is it for our benefit Jessica-wise (her ego) or is it for our benefit sham-wise.

She wants us to know she has a boyfriend. Same guy she's had for five years now, or someone new? Which is it.

And Jessica doesn't appear to have whittled off an ounce since her increase in dimensions was first observed.

Also, Skate Canada appears to be behaving as if they'd like us to all forget a team such as Dube-Wolfe ever existed. Dube Wolfe - what's a Dube Wolfe?

  1. I would dare say it is an inside joke. There are more photos and it looks like her birthday party. Also, considering the picutres, the word "wasted" was never meant more literal.
Agree with you on Skate Canada. But the best way to undo something is to never talk about it again. Would also apply to the whole Jessica-Tessa-Scott thing because ever since the article announcing the ex-grilfriend there were no pictures or whatsoever (Except the one from TEB 2011, but it was published a year ago on the Skating Magazine site and the poster posted it now). They even do not have to see each other because Jessica skipped the GP series and HPC.

    1. Wasted, indeed.

    2. :(

That take makes sense, and, of course, parading an inside joke in public is nothing but SOP for this crowd. And of course, Jessica is a creature of habit.

The sham was an inside joke that they hardly bothered to hide. I understand this unprofessionalism, nonsensical priorities, and immaturity is Debbi Wilkes through and through. It's more difficult to understand how her approach to image management was endorsed or mimicked by Scott and Tessa and their families. Where was their sense of decency, and, more importantly where fans are concerned, their respect and consideration?

It is actually Absolute Skating and the file is called Backstage Album: Beyond the programme! And not really a year ago, it was a special file after the 2011 - 2012 season!

  4. Those pics and Jessica and friend's comments make it pretty clear that Scott Moir is no longer to be considered her boyfriend.

Whether or not you believe the sham theory, I think a lot people out there are now suspecting that something is going on with Scott and Tessa. There's no "SO"'s cluttering up the scene now....what are they going to do??

    1. This is where fans are intentionally dimwitted, IMO. Something must be going on ... now. I.e., recently.

This is a fan fiction mentality that insists all high points of Tessa and Scott's relationship must occur public-in-private - where fans can observe it developing, and in a timeline that coincides with the beginning of these fans' interest in Scott and Tessa.

I am still gobsmacked by remarks from fans such as "If only Scott and Tessa could see what's right in front of them."

Let's turn it around, fans. What's more likely - that Scott and Tessa can't see what's right in front of them, or you can't?

  5. Anon 9:08. I have the feeling they're doing what blogger has always said. If they say they're not a couple the media and public accept it and that's it. No sham crap nor platonic embellishments. I don't expect any actual change in their official status before Sochi, if ever. Some fans seem to be sure they're acting different, more like a couple. i'm not seeing anything different at all.

    1. Because there isn't. I saw a comment on the Mahler spin done for the Halleluia exhibition - to wit, that they've never done it that intimately before! Something must be going on!

How true. Scott only kissed Tessa on the lips mid-spin at TEB 2009. That's practicaly strangers compared to foreheads touching. Mahler had a different closing pose at TEB - in it Scott embraced Tessa with his entire body, eyes closed, resting into her as it were, and very prolonged. It could not be more intimate.

Fans create their own context and interpret what they see inside the context they've made up. The reality is Tessa/Scott have been working inside the same context for years and years and years (they're together). Nothing's changed.

What is fan insistence that Scott and Tessa could not have lied about their relationship all about anyway? Many fans seem very willing and matter of fact about believing Scott and Tessa could lie about a whole bunch of other stuff. But not this? Why not? Is it because they don't believe Scott and Tessa are capable, or that they could get away with it, or is it their own ego as fans. So much of the more intense fandom is vicarious. Vicarious in a way that does not, btw, affect Scott and Tessa at all. It doesn't stifle the skaters. But it's way for communities of Scott and Tesssa fans to connect with each other via mutual analysis and interpretation, and the fun goes away if Scott/Tessa were a done deal long before these fans became fans.

  6. ABSOUTELY EVERYONE READING THIS BLOG: TESSA & SCOTT HAVE NEVER DATED (well if you call holding hands when they were just kids dating. LOL) AND NEVER WILL DATE. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT TESSA IS VERY MUCH IN LOVE WITH RYAN SEMPLE (He announced his retirement by the way) And Scott is SINGLE AND FREE TO MINGLE.SCOTT IS A MAN's MAN IN ALL SENSES OF THE TERM>>>")")HE LIKES THE WOMEN, JUST NOT ROMANTICALLY. 8. Hmmm. Blogger says he/she "knows for a fact" Tessa and Scott are together. Anon 11:05 says he/she "knows for a fact" Tessa and Scott are not together.

Oooo, who to believe, who to believe.

Let's see...blogger has given many evidences to back-up his/her statements. Anon 11:05 just used all caps. Gee, so hard to know what to think.

  9. I hadn't seen the party album before. I'm glad Jessica's ankle has improved to where she can dance on a bar in high heels ("dance" is employed loosely).

Mother of God, she is a whole new person - or maybe a new person and a half. This is not someone anyone's going to be lifting by Canadians, unless she embarks on a keep fit regimen tomorrow, and what are the odds?

    IOW, she looks done.

The "everybody's wasted" atmosphere at the party is par for the course for a 20something's b'day, and why not? There's no fan of Scott Moir, the red eyed, pie-eyed rendition of Scott Moir, that could throw stones.

Except this. Drunk as he's been in photos at times, Moir has never looked out of shape. At times, he's appeared positively reedy, with a waistline that could rival Tessa's. He dedicates himself to his training and to competition.

Even with Scott out of the (fake) picture, there's something else here with Jessica. All of her friends are drinking and partying with Jessica. Go to their facebooks, what's different?

They have lives. They're on a track of some sort. Including her siblings.

I sometimes wonder what Jessica thinks life must be like if one hadn't been forced to nose-to-the-grindstone 4 hours a day thanks to Bryce Davison's tedious work ethic and the expectations built into being on a national figure skating team. Without that pressure, that buzz-kill on life, does one then get to sleep in every day, wake up with a delicious coffee variation one learned to make on pinterest, sit on the web a few hours, go for a walk and take a few photos, meet up with friends for a rustic lunch, return home to consider what outfit would be perfect for the weekend's holiday festivities, return to the web once again to make no-destination exotic travel plans, nap, then put together an outfit for the evening's restaurant, bar-hopping and clubbing but first have friends and mentors coo over how adorable you look? She's been so deprived because of this skating thing.

Skating, Virtues, Davisons, however, were sources of $$, support, perks and opportunity for Jessica. Where does she think it's going to come from now (It appears that Maxim Coa has already slid into the job of assistant coach or coach-in-training at Contre Coeur, and the budget for that type of job isn't limitless, not to mention that Coa, by temperment and maturity, is suited for it where Jessica is not)?

  10. That's also my question. How is Miss Dube funding her lifestyle?
Do the Virtues/Moirs still owe her some favors?

    1. I imagine she's been supporting herself with winnings from last season (silver medal, Canadians) and living with her parents.

I stand corrected if wrong, as this isn't my forte, but as I read the Skate Canada breakdown, the silver medalists in pairs at Canadians each (as individuals, IOW, not as an entity/team) win approximately $12,000, which is paid to them in a lump sum the following August. Prior to that, Jessica's training was funded/supported as its always been.

If Jessica's not training she doesn't have to use that money for training. She can live on it as long as it lasts, which of course, will not be forever. It's her prize money. Whatever other money she may have received prior to deciding her ankle really really hurt, is Skate Canada going to be a stickler and ask for it back, or are they going to look the other way and let her keep it?

  11. Has Skate Canada officially said Dube/Wolf are expected at Canadian Nationals or is that just assumptions from fans?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Assumptions.

      Here's the rundown:

Dube/Wolfe were scheduled for the Liberty event in Philadelphia. They didn't show (no explanation).

They were scheduled for the Quebec Summer competition, and didn't show (no explanation).

As members of Skate Canada's national team, they were supposed to be at HPC. P.J. Kwong commenced discussing the pairs at HPC without mentioning D/W. Finally she was asked and was all - oh I haven't seen them. A beat or two, and she returns (to twitter) to say they weren't HPC ready (whatever that means) so weren't in attendance.

A bit later, a French-language feature surfaces with Mike Slipchuk saying Jessica has some ankle injury that's delayed her training. SC will be be observing the team with a view towards the GP series.

Alternatively, it's been said they had a "slow start". What does that even mean. What was either Wolfe or Dube so busy with besides training to produce a slow start. Please.

Almost immediately Jessica and Sebastien are out of the Grand Prix series, and there's no further comment from Skate Canada.

Please notice there was no comment whatsoever from Skate Canada prior to any of the events where Dube/Wolfe were no-shows, yet if Jessia's ankle was achey this is something Skate Canada would routinely report.

It came off as if Skate Canada intended to ignore Dube/Wolfe being no shows, and sort of hoped we'd go along with it. It was only after several people inquired that Skate Canada offered up the ankle excuse, and SC has been silent ever since. There's no updates. There's no reports on Dube's ankle rehab, and no report on what programs they're skating this season.

In her facebook photos (hers and her connections) Jessica is much, much heavier than fans have ever seen her. Is she fat? She's not. Is she in terrific shape, just not in elite figure skater shape? She's not in terrific physical shape and looks rough overall.

It's only because Skate Canada has thrown a wall of silence between us and Dube/Wolfe that people assume she'll be at Canadians. The official story is slow start, ankle issue. Well, ankles heal, lots of time has gone by, how slow do you have to be to not be at Canadians?

What can they say? Jessica got out of shape (passive aggressive), the team fell apart, we all know she's not going to pull it together in time?

They hope we don't notice. Maybe we'll be too excited about Piper and Paul, SC's new ice wannabe stars of ice dance, to wonder about the silver medalist pairs team.

      ****

I wonder if W&P aren't put out and pissed with SC being all Piper&Paul, Piper&Paul, Piper&Paul.

But, with Piper and Paul, I feel as if it's not as if Skate Canada loves them so much, as it is that G&P are willing to deal with Debbi and Barb, and Debbi and Barb are desperate for something to occupy their time and make it look like they work for a living. Beating us over the head about Piper&Paul give them something to do.

Would really love to know Debbi and Barb's salary, cause they're being paid to basically tweet the occasional inanity about Piper/Paul and of course, Debbi was also paid to alienate an entire arena of fans at Skate Canada. How much does she make a year?

  12. It was reported Dube/Wolf were signed up for Quebec sectionals taking place right now. Is this necessary if they are already bye'd to Canadians? Or are they really intending to skate?

    1. I'd imagine Skate Canada could be pressuring them to give their program (if they have one) some mileage (or at least, some yardage) prior to Canadians. I wonder if Jessica was expecting to skate these sectionals. Based on the photos from her birthday party, if she was, she's out of her mind. If she wasn't, this could be a Skate Canada gambit, and not a bad one actually (I'd like to think is was Slipchuk). Making Jessica get her butt out on the competitive ice now, calling her bluff, as it were, is a good idea. I wonder what Skate Canada's options are if they don't show. She was in bad shape in those photos (skating condition wise, not person-wise). I can't imagine that they're ready. If they intend to do it, that's going to be something. Jessica is going to need full body spanx as a skating costume, and get herself in the type of hotbox jockeys use prior to a race.

    2. P.S. - I see Eric Radford is also listed for this and I don't expect Duhamel/Radford in a Quebec regional directly after a grand prix. It might be a good guess that Jessica won't have to bear down til after xmas.
