I'm Scott Moir. I'm not gay.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

When Scott was shamming with Jessica, some Jessica partisans claimed that the reason Jessica had a pattern of lifting her leg on facebook and pissing all over her amoureux to mark her turf at the very times Scott and Tessa were most in the spotlight was because she was very understandably insecure about the attention Scott and Tessa received. The theory went that Scott indulged her because he was devoted like that. Even though he himself preferred to shun social media most of the time.

When the 2013 Canadians were upon us, Scott made a point to reiterate that neither he nor Tessa were on the internet. More than that - they were special - they were the only skaters not on the internet, claimed Scott.

If a guy brags about not being on the web, shies away from discussing his private life with any consistency or specificity, but at the same time continually has a girlfriend who is on the web spelling.out. for strangers exactly what her relationship with Scott is, complete with hearts, smooches, gushes and labels (and absolutely no humor or normalcy - just 100% mash notes)*, and the people involved are in their freaking mid-twenties but it's always the tritest - and the web is where 99% of this relationship takes place - what does it look like?

Scott Moir. He's not gay.

You have to wonder if that's not part of it, Moirville-wise too. Scott is denying he's with Tessa. Well then, get him a girlfriend so people know he's not gay. Say it over and over and over - he is the BOYfriend of a FEMALE - just not Tessa.  See - kisses! See - the girl herself adores him - can't get enough of him! Has to tell the world!

Maybe this is Moirville's way of making sure Scott doesn't contribute to figure skating's "gay image" the way that Brian Boitano did. He's straight like Kurt Browning.

P.S. - it goes without saying that because the sham takes place on social media, the girl comes off like a bunny boiler. Instantly she's obsessed. She can talk of nothing but Scott, and she can't talk about Scott in any normal way - she's continually cooing, fawning and slobbering over him like she's just discovered her girl parts. Frankly, it's icky, and although it's a complete sham, it's TMI in style. Nobody needs to know that you're twitching without your boyfriend. What do you do when he comes "home" - fire a canon full of rose petals before hurling your body on top of him while screaming with joy? Do you put you cell on speaker so everyone can share? The friends these two girls "share" with come across like voyeurs who get off on Scott + girl the way fans get off on Downton Abbey. Oh tell us more you fantastic duo! I just squeal when I think about it! It's better than Fifty Shades of Gray. You guys make me feel all gushy inside.

There's something wrong with these people.

Are you expecting there will be some kind of reveal during Worlds? I admire your positive expectations. I think I'm siding with most everyone else in expecting the contrary. A boat-load of crap and OTT deceptions.

  2. This post makes me a bit uncomfortable but probably only because it's true. Not that Scott himself has a beef with the gay skating community but Ilderton might. Is the town known for being fairly conservative?

I'm still shaking my head over that picture. So completely and utterly ridiculous. Anyone still with doubts, look at Scott. Does he look happy? No.

    1. The timing of this new picture is not a surprise. But as the blogger has said - I do find it ironic that Scott's girlfriends are all over the net with their feelings...Overall I think Scott is a private guy and as you can tell in some fan video cams over the last year when they are filming them during galas, practices etc that Scott is fully aware of their presence/filming and appears annoyed...so I can't see how this type of affection via the web would impress him personally...
Just bringing my question over from two posts ago regarding the sparkle on ice video: Just a quick question - do you think Tessa's key necklace in the current video is the same one as in 2008-2009?

      Delete
    2. I don't know anything about the necklace but probably? She does frequently wear the same accessories.

If Cassandra were a real girlfriend, he wouldn't be impressed at all. What kind of private guy wants his girlfriend mooning over him all over social media (even with a so-called private Twitter account)?

    3. When the Jessica thing was the thing, many of the participants had public facebooks. They'd enable Jessica/Scott, then maintain their own facebook activity with their own lives. There was always a huge difference, particularly among the Moirs, but not just the Moirs, between their tone when shamming and their tone in other things. In real life there was lots of sarcasm, lots of deadpan, very dry, and an actual aversion to anything gloppy. For the sham it was like we were all feeble minded and so was Jessica - virtual baby talk - virtual, hell - literal baby talk, like they were talking to a child using bright, infantile encouragement. There was never any shorthand or references to shared experiences. The topic was one note - you are in a relationship with Scott Moir and u2 are the bestest!! That was it over and over. So real.

    4. I don't know if the town is known for being conservative - I just know the tone of those around the Moir clan and more than conservative, I'd describe it as parochial.

The gay thing comes from Alma's remarks about twelve years ago, about how Canada, in the person of hetero Kurt Browning - excuse me - "masculine" Kurt Browning - had helped turn around skating's 'gay image' perpetuated by American champion Brian Boitano. Her short comment neatly encapsulated everything I've observed the Moirs do in regard to the "other" - point out what an "outsider" has done and blame them even though Canadians do the same thing (Brian Orser, Jeff Buttle). Refuse to question the premise of what you're saying - Skate Canada always looked like they took the gay "problem" at face value and never explored if the idea that skating was "gay" was the problem or not.

She also took a name and a person that has been nothing but a huge asset to figure skating - Brian Boitano - and tried to frame him as a drawback. He's American, after all, so why not.

The willingness to believe gay was the problem says a lot in itself, doesn't it? If it weren't for the gay thing it would be as popular as football and hockey. It's got nothing to do with the nature of the sport and how it's scored.

People can grow and change but the Moir clan behavior towards Meryl and Charlie - and I think the Moirs had huge balls bitching in 2011 considering what Scott and Tessa had done all season - and the conduct of the sham suggests that not much has changed.

They're so boorish. I wonder if, when Alma made that remark, if she considered that gay Canadian figure skaters might not be crazy about what she was saying or if she didn't think about it.

    1. If I were you I'd ration your "oh no"s because London Worlds isn't far away and they're gonna go big.

London worlds. Mommy and Daddy's last worlds, at home. The families pasted all over the media - except for me, who officially doesn't exist.

And someone else not pasted all over the media, but widely distributed. Daddy's fake girlfriend.

Way to go out, Scott and Tessa. Class all the way.

I don't think Cassandra will be featured in the stands mid Moirs but she's going to be there and we will be told and shown that she was.

    2. It makes me sick to say it, but I agree that they're going to go big for London Worlds.

I feel so very badly for their child. No, the kid doesn't have a clue what's going on now, but one day it will. And it's going to look back at the pictures, the videos, the documentary, and even though all of this was happening during its infancy/early childhood, it's not going to have officially existed for any of it. I'm sure V-M think they can explain it away, but it's still going to hurt for that kid that everyone but them was a part of things. Not only that, the questions, if even just to themself, of why didn't Mommy and Daddy love them enough to not deny they existed in this world. Not only that, what about the disconcertment of hearing your parents not only deny your existance, but the fact that they're together and the fact that they will always be together. I think most any child would be very upset to hear their parents talking like they don't have a future together.

As for next year, if you're three-years-old and your parents go to the Olympics, defending Olympic champions at that, it's part of your history too. Except, of course, for this little one who is having a part of their own history denied to them.

Angry doesn't even start to cover how I feel about this.

    3. It just doesn't fit into my head why Cassandra lets strangers see her twitter account when she has taken time to make it private...

    4. Cassandra accepts a few well chosen people into her world of Scott gushing and cooing. It's all part of their stupid game. The fans "in the know" are supposed to let others know that Scott and Cass are legit because on her private Twitter, she talks about him all the time.

      Delete
    5. and if that Cassandra is in love with Scott? why pretend with friends, relatives and parents on twitter when is not it? i don't understand...it is easy to lie when you are, but with strangers? tessa and scott will certainly be crazy in love with their baby and take him on trips, it certainly is in the photo with someone else obviously not their relatives when they are in the spotlight and also when they are in private .. some say they have seen him in nice .. definitely going to be in london!

    6. Cassandra isn't in love with Scott. She's essentially an actress playing a part here.

Also, I wouldn't make that assumption on the gender of V-M's child.

  4. I said before there's a reason Academy Award winners shout out their kids' names when they win and it doesnt matter that their kids have visited sets, met celebrities, traveled, and are the most important people in mom or dad's life. Saying the name includes the child in history and makes them part of the story the way no scrapbook, home video or private photo can ever do and it means something, as Medway, London and Ilderton and the Moirs know damn well or they wouldn't have all been packed in front of the Moir Special camera the night Scott and Tessa won. Wouldn't it have been just as much part of history if they'd sat themselves down next to Kate and Jordan - off camera? It wouldn't, because on camera is where history is.

This is family history. It can't be recreatd, and everyone who participated on camera did it for the public record for their own purposes, to have it in the family, to show generations to come, to say - there they are winning in front of the world and there I am.

But not Scott and Tessa's own kid. It didn't happen last year or this and won't happen at Sochi. The kid doesn't exist because Mom and Dad are pretending to be people they're not for stupid reasons, and because of that the kid has to be invisible.

  5. They're going to go big for London Worlds because the sham is how they showcase their self-importance to themselves. London 2013 is a last hurrah.

As another poster observed in a comment, they (the community - not Tessa and Scott individually) think this is about them.

This is all them, not us. We're just the pretext.

Scott and Tessa are together, and pretending there was an urgent need to conceal it has kept the under-employed (Debbi Wilkes), and the under recognized (Ilderton) occupied with something insidery and 'better than' enough to feed their vanity and egos.

From the beginning, fans have been set up to take the fall for all of it. It's amazing - prior to the Olympics, Canadian fans were described as glowing with a magical Canadian radiance that was almost single-handedly responsible for carrying Tessa and Scott to gold.

Afterwards, and prior to the blog, Tessa and Scott haven't stopped backhanding, patronizing, lying about and setting fans up.

If only they'd learned the difference between privacy and secrecy/lies, but this is not a brain trust we're talking about.

We're surrogates and we're also justification for their home town's inflated sense of celebrity and collective need to be somebody.

Scott and Tessa's Olympic run and eligible career has been important enough for family and friends to prioritize it in the Olympic run-up and in this current Olympic cycle. In the name of success and celebrity and the spoils they hope Ilderton will reap, nothing was off the table. It was important. But the child is out of it. How do you entertain two contrary ideas? How to you make decisions based on the reality that your position in the skating world means so much to your family and friends that you betray who you are and they let you, and you never ask why they let you. It just all means too much.

And at the same time, believe your kid will be fine being left out. This has nothing to do with you honey. Just everybody else.

There's scrapbooks, home video and other material. But nothing of your child in the contemporary historical record which was so vital to your family/friends you sold yourself out.

P.S. - it occurs to me that Scott making such a point - in public - of not being on the internet is his way of ass covering and kind of a typical Scott Moir pre-emptive manipulation.

This is a guy who has used the internet as a virtual voo doo doll to work over the fans. But officially, he is always telling the media he's never on the internet. So they won't look for him there. Maybe that's why he and Tessa aren't "on the web". They do so much dirt there, they don't want an official presence. It's kind of like the mob.

I've noticed that when Scott is trying to be clever about disinformation it's like there's less filtering between brain and mouth. Like he thinks, "oh, gotta slide in something to throw people off track..." Tessa does it much more smoothly and naturally.

Like this latest documentary clip. Scott amending the "see my face first thing in the morning" with "when you get to the rink you see my face first thing..." It sounds awkward and very much like he's "fixing" something. Which he is. And it sounds labored.

I doubt he had any realization what that statement sounded like, about his brother's beautiful daughter. He's so focused on making sure the spotlight is on the fake story and not the real one, and in the process he says dumb things.

Tessa and Scott are not related by blood. They are, however, related by being husband and wife...

Scott's middle name is Patrick, per an old entry sheet from a singles competetion years and years ago when he was still doing both.

  7. There is one major problem with the premise of your blog. Like all conspiracy yarns, it requires the complicity, if not participation, of too many people to be plausible. At least some of the people with knowledge of the “sham” would recognize that it is wrong and refuse to go along with this kind of cover-up. Let’s take the media. Even if newspaper journalists don’t have the time or inclination to investigate a story like this, the TV media (CBC, CTV) has employed retired skaters like Tracy Wilson, Kurt Browning , Jamie Sale & David Pelletier who have worked events where VM were competing and where this “sham” was supposedly being run. Wilson is top-notch for integrity. Browning has an excellent and deserved reputation for treating fans very well. Sale & Pelletier have also been kind to their fans and behaved responsibly, even during their marriage broke up. Moreover, these people have children of their own. Why on earth would any (much less all) of them go along with something like this – enabling current skaters to treat fans as fools while being unkind to a young child, to boot? Even if they don’t find the “sham” to be repulsive, there is absolutely nothing in it for them. Even worse, it is potentially damaging, in terms of pure self-interest, if this “sham” is eventually revealed as such, and they are perceived as being complicit.

All it would take would be a comment made on their air, or word in the ear of a commentator as subtle as Rod Black. That would be it. No more “secret” marriage.

And what about the US media personalities who owe no “loyalty” to Canadian skaters? Elsewhere in this blog, you suggested that a sham involved “pandering” to Scott Hamilton. Do you seriously think he would approve of something like this?

And in an age of social media, why wouldn’t this all be over the Facebook and Twitter feeds of other skaters? Or have all of them been conscripted by the folks of metropolitan Ilderton?

    1. That's what I used to think too and it was a major roadblock in believing what was offered here but I don't know how else to explain the things that go on with Virtue and Moir.

      Delete
    2. I have to laugh at the notion that Rod Black would be the one to blurt something out. Because he's such a journalist.

Your first pararaph reveals a whole bunch of assumptions about people - individually and in general - that are simply your own assumptions and not how things work. You write it with a lot of assurance - I'm curious upon what you base your certainty. It can't be experience or actual awareness of the symbiotic relationships that exist between the sports/entertainment world and the athletes - not to mention the athletes and each other.

The journalists who have integrity get around it like journalists get around most stories where they know the "story behind the story" - they quote what the skaters themselves say, versus reporting what the skaters say as an independently verified fact. The story becomes what the skaters say. Please point out where Tracy Wilson has independently reported what Virtue and Moir say about themselves, versus simply asking them to speak on the topic themselves.

A reporter is under no obligation to say more than that. It's only people like Rosie DiManno - tabloid mentality and unprofessional - who are delighted to confuse what they know and what they've been told. Read a little more closely not just about Virtue/Moir, but about what is written about others. The framework in these cases is 'so and so say they have never' or 'so and so is reportedly'.

Furthermore you have this notion that if it's not "on the record" or on air, it's not discussed. Of course Virtue and Moir are discussed. By journalists. By family and friends of the family and other connections. And by fans.

As is a whole raft of other topics around the figure skating world that isn't on the record.

Figure skating, like all professional sports, isn't "news". It's entertainment. You've heard of the sports/entertainment complex. How many other people in sports get the "expose'" and "investigative" treatment? I'll tell you how many - none. The only time the "truth" that is already known about many athletes is exposed on the record is one of two ways. 1) Something happens that reaches the attention of law enforcement (Tiger Woods). You think it was some big news to many sports reporters (not to mention fans) - that Tiger constantly cheated on his wife and was a douchebag in other ways? Journalists that interviewed him and wrote about his career and image often knew it, but that wasn't the focus of what they wrote. It emerged when law enforcement got in on the act.

The other is tabloid media. Tabloid media doesn't give a shit. The sports journalists in New York knew Alex Rodriguez cheated on his wife. It didn't get out there til some TMZ types filmed him with a stripper, and even then that appears to be some type of collusion between A Rod and TMZ.

Virtue and Moir have been 99% interviewed by the entertainment/sports media. Go to some of the message boards, and you'll find that a lot of the media can be called something else - groupies who are as protective of their insider status as any fan. If someone wanted to blow up Virtue and Moir it could only happen if they put their name to it. And what would they accomplish by doing that?

It might surprise you to realize that a lot of people are perfectly happy to talk about something off the record and have no burning need to put it on the internet. I, for example, and I'm not alone, knew Virtue and Moir's status long before the blog began. It was only when they began to take outrageous liberties with the truth, to the extent where they outright humiliated fans and had sport with what they were doing, that I started the blog.

      Delete
    3. P.S. - think through the implications of what you're saying.

Suppose Fabian Bourzat, for a for instance, decided to tweet: Ha ha at Scott and Tessa pretending not 2b 2gether!

Dude trains in Detroit. He competes every year with Scott and Tessa. He may want to coach. But he's just outed himself as someone who will blab somebody else's business on the internet. What would that do to the trust other skaters have in him?

Media is about access. Even now Scott and Tessa are scraping the bottom of the barrel to get their message out. Idiots and groupies and people low on the totem pole. They work with people who are so excited to get the "get" and want to have future opportunities.

People see things, know things and hear things. Ask yourself what they'd get out of blowing someone's cover. What? Get a reputation as someone who can't be trusted. These people enjoy being part of the action; enjoy the assignments and the excitement and they're human. They also enjoy knowing the "real story" others don't know. it's not just fans. Why do you think so much of official media is hostile/condescending to the web? Because the web is taking over some of their turf, removing the need for a middle man to control the narrative.

I'll share another example about someone in media. There's someone in media I know of who routinely covered figure skating and absolutely hated one well known figure skater in particular. This was based on what this media person observed of the skater and heard. Yet the media person's coverage of didn't reveal for a single second what they knew or thought. It was as sanitized and flattering as everything else written on the topic.

      Delete
    4. Sooner or later the narrative about Tessa and Scott will change to the truth. Taking into consideration what you're saying regarding the importance of access and a reputation for trustworthiness in keeping secrets, how do you see all these players handling the change of narrative? Will anyone be motivated to investigate in a way that might be detrimental to VM and Co or Skate Canada? Or will no one go there at all?

      Delete
    5. I don't think "investigation" is the right word. What would the cost benefit be there? But the reality is, the truth is right there. Anyone in the media who actually didn't know and decided to find out would be able to do so in ten minutes if they had any connections at all. There's no investigation required to learn the facts about Virtue and Moir. To cover all of their lies and strategems is stickier - neither the media nor other skaters spend the time creeping on facebook that fans do, so a lot of what Virtue Moir have done - the relationship they set up between setting up bait on legit media and then following up with the sting on social media isn't a pattern that the mainstream media sees.

OTOH, Moirville obviously takes their entitlements seriously and being called out on all of their lying and manipulation has pissed them off. They seem hostile. They act like they think they're the victims. They're not thinking it through, because really - people you lie to are obliged to swallow it? If they know better they can't mention it? I can see a desire to keep the sham going indefinitely out of spite.

BUT. After Sochi a lot of people are retiring. Figure skaters. Officials. Administrators and directors. Parents of figure skaters will now be parents of former figure skaters. Are all of these people going to remain inside figure skating? Are they all going to try to coach? Or will some be out of that world, free of constraints, and itching to talk about what went on? Because a lot of it wasn't fair. A lot of skaters felt short changed. Skate Canada got into the cult of celebrity and it was to the detriment of the organization. Some people who were good at helping Tessa and Scott were not so good at keeping sponsors during some critical developmental years and it wasn't Scott and Tessa who suffered by it. Were they prioritized and other more important things neglected because Skate Canada argued that VM were a jackpot who on their own would attract $$$? The problem is it's a little difficult to do that when your marquee names are keeping such a huge secret and marketing a lie. So, a mess. A $$ mess. Let's see how many skaters will nobly not mention any of this when their career's over. Or how many officials who believe they were wrongly held responsible will be eager to set the record straight. Or how many international skaters who are only amused by it all now will just let fly when they're retired.

IOW, a lot of the controls go away after Sochi. It will depend on how much resentment has built up and how incentived some people are to get their own story out.

    7. I just think they have a very narrow set of concerns and a very narrow frame of reference and a singular agenda. Most of their adult lives have been dedicated to these things - it would be unusual if they suddenly had an epiphany and recognized the big picture.

The reasoning is done through a particular prism - a strict filter. They believe in their agenda. For my part, I question whether their means is actually going to lead to the end they've dreamed about, because the lie is, IMO, a huge obstacle to actually capitalizing on Virtue and Moir's success. Both for Skate Canada and for Ilderton. This is something that professionals could have predicted from day one, but both Moirville and Skate Canada are controlled by a not ready for prime time crowd.

    8. I never sugggested the sham involved pandering to Scott Hamilton. I said I didn't believe that Evan Lysacek shamming with Tanith Belbin had much to do with presumed anti-gay sensibility in the skating public or the USFSA, but rather he was hoping to present himself as an appealing prospect for commercial deals, further his show business aspirations, and possibly pander to Scott Hamilton, who is notoriously ill at ease with gay figure skaters. Lysacek was the great "straight hope" at the time and a star with SOI. The remark was also just a sarcastic slam on Hamilton who has it coming IMO whenever the opportunity is there.

Further the blog is not based on a conspiracy theory but a fact. That fact being Scott and Tessa are married and have a child together.

There are theories, discussion, plenty of observation and speculation that flow from those facts, because once you are aware of the fact that Scott and Tessa are married with a child, you understand how many lies they're telling about themselves, you look at the reasons they've given out for lying (to others who know their real status) and apply logic to see if those reasons match their behavior. In Scott and Tessa's case, they don't. So, something else is going on. We've already seen that Debbi Wilkes capitalized on her role as a sham wrangler and Scott Tessa gatekeeper, and we can also see how much Ilderton enjoys being in on the act, and how much the Moir skating business seeks to capitalize on Scott and Tessa, and how eager the community in general is for Scott to reaffirm that he hasn't changed, is still one of them, and is just 'Scotty'.

  8. Although I am not the person behind this blog, I am someon else who also knows the truth. I can assure you that premise of the blog is 100% correct. Tessa and Scott are married to each other and the parents of a two-year-old child.

The person behind this blog has spent quite a bit of time over the last couple of years explaining the how and why of these secret being kept. It's worth going back to read those entries.

Other figure skaters go along with it because the skating world is insular and full of other secrets--this one isn't the only secret being kept. Journalist go along with it because to not go along with it would mean losing access to Virtue and Moir.

  9. How can you know that for a fact (the marriage/baby thing)? I mean, is it something that came from a reliable source or just logics of your own? Or maybe you claim to be an insider?

    ^^ This.

Pretty much every question you can think of has been asked. If you take the the time to read through the blog I believe you will see thoughtful answers. You may not agree with all of the blogger's conclusions, but IMO the answers are considered and rational. The blogger is not creating illogical conclusions based on fantasies, as some have accused.

  12. That picture of Cassandra and Scott at the top of this entry - Could anything look more fake and uncomfortable? I used to view Scott's "buddies" (as he calls them) from home as a nice and supportive group of friends. With this full-on endorsement of lies and mockery of the fans I think they seem juvenile, immature.

One of the things about all of this that is always perplexing to me is how all these people who claim to love Scott and Tessa are willing to diminish Scott, and his partnership, through these insulting games. VM are a brilliant skating team, both of them serious adults, but this stuff around them takes away from that. These "friends" allow the focus on VM to be about ridiculous silliness, not to mention there's a feeling of resentment on their part toward the public that admires Scott and Tessa. Something about the whole think stinks and reeks of boorishness and corruption. There's nothing to admire in this legacy they are creating.

It's said a good friends don't let you drink and drive. This is the same principle. How can Scott and Tessa's "friends" and "loving family" allow this? They can't love them like they say they do and not call Scott and Tessa to adult accountability and responsibility. They're all complicit in letting them look like fools, and the friends and family look like even bigger fools for going along with it.

I think the blogger is on to something in saying all these "friends" have selfish motives. It's about them, not what's best for Scott or Tessa.

    1. All I can say is many of them - including some Moirs - have an extremely parochial mentality. It suits them for Scott to be "Scotty". "Scotty" can be "Scott" elsewhere - the U.S.A. is one of those places, with his training mates can be one of those places, with Tessa is with the main person.

People ask a lot - how can the friendship with Meryl and Charlie be real. Well, I'd look at Meryl and Charlie and then at the Medway crowd and the Moirs. What do you imagine Meryl and Charlie bring to the friendship and offer VM that some of the Ilderton/London crowd does not. In particular, look - just in the available media - at how Charlie treats Scott. His demeanor with Scott and Scott's with him. Charlie is an internationally successful ice dancer, Scott's own age, same training center, lots and lots of history. What can Scott be with Charlie White? Himself. He doesn't have to be who he used to be or what Charlie needs him to be, he can be who he is now. He's fun loving, yes, but he's also a serious man.

That said - I think the answer to the question of how can the families let this go on is that this is who the families are. They live in a very small world.

      Delete
    2. P.S. - I think it's extremely telling that twice now the Moir side has taken to a public facebook to bash a win by Meryl and Charlie - taking little swipes at Meryl (I think calling her "10" was the most snide).

Are they just venting frustration/resentment at D/W's win, or is D/W's win an opportunity to vent a little petty jealousy and resentment? They don't want "Scotty" to be Scott. They want him to be Scotty. The older generation - those most invested - don't want to grow up, and many of his friends haven't gotten over high school. That's remains the highlight of their lives.

  13. Of course it's about them - the friends - not VM.

    3. LOL He does have a type, doesn't he.

      Delete
    4. Here's the thing. What other type would sign up for this? A person with any maturity wouldn't touch it.

Let's take the case of a celebrity - I think I've used this example before. It's a real example, but no names. An old(er) guy now, and a rich man. At the start of his career, as a young man, dated women roughly his own age and status. As his career went on he went a bit younger (20 years or so) still in his field. And now it's very good looking women younger than his own kid. What does this old guy do but bitch about women. They're all the same. Always want something (money).

Well - shocker. This guy is looking for a trophy girlfriend - lookswise - more than a generation younger than himself, someone available according to his (very eccentric) schedule and habits, somebody with at least an arguably status job but enough free time to organize her life around his convenience. Meantime our celebrity is a senior citizen with all the aches and pains and decayed looks that accompany that. What the hell does he think he's going to get? A woman with no agenda?

A woman who shams with Scott is going to be a little bored, enjoy posing for photos, enjoy games, find the whole thing hilarious and enjoy the feeling of importance and the attention.

A group of friends of the same maturity level, who also think it's a hilarious game, who feel important by association and who have the time to egg on the fake GF in all her idiocy is also a requirement.

The funny thing is that as more and more people learn/accept the truth...Ilderton & Co. will, at some point, be doing this entirely for their own benefit. How pathetic.

    7. Sadly there will always be the fans who will happily and blindly go along with anything that Scott and Tessa say. It's true that they've pushed it too far though. Just look at the comments on this blog and compare them to a year ago. Those who haven't figured it out are at least questioning it.

Couldn't agree more. And what I find particularly pathetic and also hilarious is that it looks like they all think they're being so clever and important. They're just having such a blast thinking they're putting one over on the public. I'm just happy that many fans are seeing the truth and won't be deceived anymore by their malicious games.

I admire Scott and Tessa so much as skaters. It's very disappointing to see them participate in these things.

    9. "The funny thing is that as more and more people learn/accept the truth...Ilderton & Co. will, at some point, be doing this entirely for their own benefit. How pathetic. "

That point is here now. They continue out of spite, to save face, because it gives the 'community' an occupation and buys Scott and Tessa some breathing room, and also I believe because Scott and Tessa feel at this point in their lives they have too much on their plates to unravel this and handle the fallout. They often strike me as complicating issues that aren't that complicated - Tessa in particular. It's odd because when it comes to their skating, they have a very clear vision and never get in their own way. Why they think off ice life is different, who knows, but there's a feeling both of them give out that they both feel responsible for or spend too much time on how other people are judging them. I suspect those "other people" aren't fans. But that mindset gives those other people power over them, which is unfortunate.

Whatever fans believe or don't believe, I think it's clear enough none of this is done to because of the fans. They went a reach too far in their lies about fans during Canadians. If they need to make up fan issues then there are no unmanageable real issues. Besides, people with actual fan issues are smart enough to handle them with grace and to not whinge about it in public, where the fans can SEE what they're saying. Just by whining and making stuff up, Scott and Tessa betray that they've got an agenda that has nothing to do with us.

Without being on twitter at all, I'll take a guess: Going by the patterns seen before from Jessica and what has emerged so far with this newest girlfriend, it's all about the girlfriend's lovey-dovey feelings - HER love, excitement, heart palpitations, vacation plans, etc. etc. etc. It's never about how the boyfriend might be feeling or any of his concerns at all.

And that just points to how fake it all is. No real relationship between adults functions like that.

But I would like to hear from those who follow Cassandra's tweets and see if the patterns are continuing the same.

    1. More striking for me was Scott saying he didn't know what he'd do when it was time for him to move on in his life. He was clearly saying move on from Tessa and no longer having that person who always laughed at his jokes. There he is in a documentary that's part of the archive of his life with Tessa, denying the wife sitting next to him and ignoring that he has a child with her, talking about moving on without her.

It reminded me of Tessa sitting next to Scott and pregnant with their child, saying they don't date, are platonic, and she'd prefer someone who could offer balance.

I am sure Scott and Tessa have plenty of lovely, private material to show their child. To show that the "public" stuff wasn't real. Unfortunately that ignores that the public stuff is important. It's what everybody else saw and was involved in, but the kid was erased. That's the history. Scott and Tessa's history is public, not just private. Elite competitive sports is public or there's no point. It's on a public stage. Their families have been part of that history and their child is erased. The kid's peers will see nothing, the kid's own children will have nothing.

    2. I've said before that there were those around Virtue Moir - and I believe Virtue Moir themselves - fully believed Virtue Moir would have revealed their true status long long before now.

Looking back at it, I think the turning point was the pregnancy and how Tessa "carried" and her overall great health and energy. Remember when Tessa and Scott were slated to be inducted into the London Hall of Fame and Meryl and Charlie made a special request to be able to attend? The request got quite a bit of publicity but then Meryl and Charlie didn't attend after all.

It makes one wonder if Tessa and Scott originally expected both their status and the pregnancy would have been out by then, in London, possibly one of their most stressful places to be in public even without being publicly married and pregnant, and if Meryl and Charlie volunteered to be there as buffers and moral support. As outsiders, they'd be invaluable.

But then Tessa and Scott were too tempted to keep on when Tessa's pregnancy progressed as discreetly as it did so Meryl and Charlie's presence wasn't needed.
Look at Tessa's rib cage some time, especially back before she was able to train with Maria Mountain and add muscle to her back, shoulders and arms. She is as narrow through her long rib cage as some fashion models are through their waistline. Tessa can put a belt around her ribs a few inches below her boobs and it looks like her waistline.

There is a particular camera shot from behind the scenes in Torino after the FD and medal ceremony. It's this brief shot of Tatiana Navka with her daughter, who was wearing the OGM. It was just a little moment, but Sasha Zhulina has that moment to show her friends, and in the future, her own children and grandchildren. There she was with her mom who had just won the OGM.

Tessa and Scott's child is not going to get that sort of shot, being part of things. That poor thing isn't going to even have a clip of their name being called from the K&C. Meanwhile, it seems that practically every member of Moirville will have had their face stuck in front of a camera at some point in time.

    4. Why on earth did Scott and Tessa choose to become elite figure skaters?

Competitive sports are a public endeavor. Part of the joy of winning is that it's freaking public. Scott and Tessa are part of history because they won the gold medal on home ice in front of their fellow citizens and an international audience, on network television all around the world.

Would they have preferred it took place on pay per view? Or in a private "members only" venue or secret society?

      What?

They have enjoyed, as Scott has said several times - the perks of that achievement, perks based on the fact that the achievement was PUBLIC and they have national standing.

The Moirs are more conscious than anyone on the planet that the public aspect of it is key to the achievement and, not least, to the enjoyment of the achievement. They participated fully in the public celebration.

This is not an argument to throw open the door to their homelife or let us in on the nitty gritty. Again, there is a huge difference between private and secret that these clowns have trouble understanding.

And maybe based on the really putrid way the sham plays out, they think Tessa or Scott would have to talk about each other the way Cassandra or Jessica mewled and simpered on about Scott.

If they think that, it's a problem they made up in their heads, like most of the so-called problems that this sham was supposed to solve.

They can look down their noses all they like about how what goes on in private is more meaningful, but Scott and Tessa won their medals in front of the world and they can always look at that. For all that they share in private, this was something they shared and accomplished in the public realm.

I just know that it's important for a kid, unless they have the most unique child ever created, and unless they have the same confidence in their ability to tell that child how to feel and what to think that they have in their ability to tell the public how to feel and what to think.

    1. Who knows. I think Virtue/Moir would have taken over just as DW took over from Belbin Agosto even though B&A competed in 2010. And I believe those around them rated VM's chemistry as more powerful and more of a public draw than DL, with more star potential, and therefore they'd be rationalized as confronting different challenges than DL.

I think the retirement of some of the 'old' guard - Buttle and Dubreil/Lauzon - had a negative impact on Skate Canada's overall maturity level and general deportment, however, not to mention its collective I.Q.

Another point about figure skating - yes - VM are talked about - the whole situation is talked about. But figure skaters at that level are most interested in themselves. The investment they're making financially and physically, the impact this has on them socially - all makes them understandably preoccupied most of all with their own lives, their own careers, their own goals.

  18. I love that Cassandra's twitter displays a larger piece of the F.Scott Fitzgerald quote (so clever...in case you missed it, her bf is named Scott too! Is this supposed to be Scott's side to their lovey-dovey conversation?)

    2. Well, I enjoy what this critic feels is the lowest insult she could ever hurl - accuse the blogger of being an old lady who doesn't have sex. That's figure skating all over.

It's sort of a piece with how the figure skating public is treated by the press because the public isn't just female, but, at least in north america, middle-aged and up. They're patronized. Just say "lots of gray heads" or "ladies" and there's an implied belittling and diminishing - ironic in a sport completely dependant upon women that age (parents, officials, coaches, voluteers). And it's ironic that that dismissive, pandering and belittling behavior is often coming from women in that age group.

And as the blog has also discussed, the other audience is gay men - or at least they think there is. Must be kind of a bitch goddess success kind of deal to win at your sport when the demographic that watches it is the lowest of the low. Older ladies and gay guys.

If only it were more like hockey. How come when we read about a hockey event we don't hear that the crowd is 3/4ths meathead?* Does the hockey crowd have a social status the figure skating folks lack? They dress up in the colors and look as ridiculous as any 'skating lady' covered in maple leaves.

*Apologies to hockey crowds - I'm making a point.
