Dreams

Continuing from post below: For Jessica, even perks like trips to the Dominican aren't all they might be cracked up to be.

Scott and Jessica have been together so long it's like they skipped the romance part and settled right in with the retirement community.
Not Scott and Jessica. But boy
I'd bet a spa pool would
feel good on a skater's back.
.

For example, the Dreams Punta Cana Resort and Spa - where Scott and Jessica (and Veronique and Jonathan) spent part of May 2009 training break - offers a variety of amenities to suit the preferences of their guests, whether families, honeymooners, couples, kids. There's couples massage in elevated open-air huts and a spa pool; there's private jacuzzis on the balcony of many rooms. There's a casino that opens late afternoon and operates til the wee hours.

There's foam parties in the pool and samba dancing with plain old partying by torchlight on the beach at night:

Folks not Scott and Jessica
There's early-bird specials such as dancing to the pre-dinner live band in the lobby along with fellow amoureuxes:
Aw - just like an outing with the Moirs!
It's live!
Dreams is set up so chums* can spend A+ time together. There's beach beds.

You can also hang with in situ bros.**
For loving couples eager for "us" time, there's room service.

Not a room occupied by either Jessica Dube or Scott Moir.

The continental breakfast on their room's private patio is a popular option for couples at this resort. Many couples have posted photos and consider it a highlight.

Couples can also choose the resort's World Cafe while it's empty.

The free-form pool snakes throughout the resort. Guests report it is so large it's never crowded and you can have your own private cove. There are swim-up bars so you can float in couple-haze bliss:

Dreams is all-inclusive, but if you've got money to burn, photos to take and big chunks of time to kill, there's the opportunity to shell out an additional $89.00USD per person for each of numerous outside excursions.

For example:

 And then you can:

Scott's $360 solo nap. (Saona Island excursion, party of 4.)
From a traveler's report:
The trip to Saona is an all day thing, one way by speedboat, back on catamaran. It was a great trip, we both loved the catamaran and the natural pool to photograph starfish. They pour the rum and coke freely throughout the day.
If you choose to go you will love it, just be aware that the whole day way around 12 hours from pickup to drop off. The only issue we had with the whole trip was the loud, obnoxious drunks on the bus on the way back.

Saona Island trip

Other excursions:  zip-lining with your amoureux and her siblings also at $89.00USD per; you can spend even more by renting a car and hauling ass to Santa Domingo with the woman you taime and her two siblings so as to enjoy that popular couple activity of posing beneath statues of Christopher Columbus and sitting on benches in pedestrian plazas. Scott did all of this.

If I were on a beach resort vacation with my long-distance love interest after a long, draining skating season, I'd be all over that.

When the day is done, Dreams offers a very special dining experience for those in the mood for love:
Duo who are not Scott and Jessica.
When the sun has set, you're dining by torchlight. :)

You can also partner up with a bunch of strangers with families - a/k/a Moirs in loco  and dine with them and their families every night.

A benefit of the second option is dining with these two lovely ladies:
Looks like a no brainer.

** Who knew Scott was a smoker?

  1. All the ways you point out how Romantic (not!) Scott and Jessica were on this trip are truly hilarious.

  2. I never thought he would smoke...dislike :(

    Agreed.

Is this a common thing with Canadian skaters? I've seen many photos of skaters smoking. It's weird, doesn't any athlete need all the lung capacity possible? This is the first time I see Scott smoking. I hope to God it's not habitual.

  4. I realty hope that Scott is just a social smoker. Still disappointed though. Every day he seems more and more like a douche. Oh, Scotty. :-(

  5. Hope everyone had a great X-mas holiday...let's not overreact with the cigarette thing...I hate to burst people's bubbles but many athletes both pro and amateur are habitual smokers...for whatever reason...again I feel like we live in a society where athletes are gods...gosh smoking is bad for you but also eating a donut is equally as disgusting...if you actually know what goes into a commercial donut...so hey, I doubt that Scott is the only figure skater that has light up on vacation...I guess he shouldn't have a beer either, LOL...

  6. We all know smoking sucks but a lot of athletes smoke - particularly figure skaters and dancers. Appetite suppression and weight control are as much as part of it as stress relief. People think skaters and dancers wouldn't because their sport is so intensely cardiovascular, but so many do smoke it's likely their age and general fitness compensates for the moment.

Not defending it, but it's pretty commonplace particularly for dancers/figure skaters versus unusual for dancer/figure skaters.

  7. I agree with Anonymous 10:42, Scott really is starting to look more and more like a douche. This leads me to ask this question: "what the heck does Tessa see in this guy?" Hey, I totally believe they are a couple, but with more info coming out, I have to think she can do so much better.

But here is a thought. Maybe the drinking and smoking in these "Jessica" photos is a coping mechanism. Like the only way he can go ahead with the sham and be photographed with her and kiss her is to be stumbling drunk. Wouldn't surprise me

  8. Agreed with anon 11:55

I mean, why do I have to belive that he's a smoker if all of these pictures are part of a stupid sham?!

  9. Hmmm I think we are overreaching with the douche comments about Scott....quick question if we saw a picture of Charlie White, Alex Shibutani or Evan Bates with a cigarette and a beer let's say at a fraternity part would you label them a douche? Just curious...

  10. To the anon above, I don't think he's douche for smoking, I am meh about that as I have been known to puff when hammered too. I just think his behaviour is douchey, ie: his whiny outburst after GPF, allowing his family/SC to dictate his life and whoring himself out for publicity. At the end of the day, he really is just a bad boyfriend.

  11. To the anon at 1:03 pm...yes the outburst after the GPF was uncalled for - no arguing there...as for the rest either he really doesn't care about his image if JD is his GF and then he is a bad boyfriend..or the flip side is that V/M are in a relationship and Mr. Moir is falling on a sword and will be mr. douche until well eternity...

I find this as shocking as I did the anti-gay thing a few months ago. Live and learn.

Yah, I would probably, it disgusts me, period. I do have respect for people who try to quit and then relapse, but people who think it's "fun" and no big deal...it's beyond my comprehension.

  13. (continued from last post) but as regards Scott, this was two and a half years ago. He well may have given it up to get serious about the Olympics. It would dissapoint me so much more now that he supposedly has a child than a few years ago when he still qualified as a kid of some description.

  14. Setting aside the smoking issue (I'll agree with both the person who said it could be a coping mechanism being with Jessica and the one who believes it's in the past - I'll hope so) -
I wonder who payed for the Dube siblings' trip to Punta Cana plus all the extras? Sure, it might not have been a romantic trip, but still. Ms Dube and brother and sister got to go on an apparently all-expenses-paid excursion to a pretty darn nice place. Just for some photos with Mr Moir.

    The perks aren't bad.
