Skate Canada Presents

Skate Canada's Carol Moir, Alma Moir and Marj Carey
with MacCormack family patriarch GMac.*

We can see where Scott and Tessa got the great role model genes we're told about.

Previously we have largely experienced Team Virtue Moir in 2-D but now eyes peeled for a major motion picture - or at least a documentary from an award winning team of film makers. I have a feeling after Ice, Sweat and Tears those filmmakers will deserve all the awards they can get in several categories.

I'm curious if cbc will review the contents of this much-anticipated film before it airs and green-light it and then promote it even if the presentation fails to conform with cbc's own knowledge of the facts. Predictions? Who at cbc liaisons with Team Virtue/Moir, Skate Canada and the filmmakers on this project?

However it turns out, I think we can count on it being filmed in the spirit of Carol Moir's current facebook profile picture.

  1. Three questions:

    1. Do you think Dube and Davison are secretly seeing one another, or is that relationship completely done?

    2. Do you think Caydee Denney and John Coughlin are dating?

    3. How long do you think Weaver and Poje have been dating?

  2. Okay, and I'm totally guessing:

    1. Yes, I think D&D are done. Still guessing, I think Jessica worked hard to convince Bryce they were better off going for the podium while having the relationship rather than putting the relationship on hold to focus on Vancouver as Bryce thought was smart after things got rocky in training. Once he was no longer viable as a partner, Jessica's lowest common denominator took over and she had to torch the relationship in order to be sure she could stay in figure skating at the level she wanted to stay. If she says too bad, so sad, don't want to wait for you - the relationship is done too. Bryce's career was too much of a question mark.

    2. Yes.

    3. A long time - I mean for about as long as they've been asked about it, I think has been at least as long as they've been together.

P.S. "dating" is a fun word for people who like to play word games. We're not dating can be totally true if you're married, for instance. We're not dating can be totally true if you live together. We're not dating can be totally true if you don't go out on "dates" but train together and hook up.

    1. Since the Jessica/Scott relationship is a sham, do you think she is actually dating someone else?

      Delete
    2. Yeah, if only because I know there are people who aren't fans and not on the internet who believe the Pelletier/Dube hook up happened just because they're familiar with her, so I'd imagine she's got someone. To be fair to her my guess is she was acting out with the Pelletier thing, if it happened, pissed at Bryce because Bryce thought skating should be their priority. "See - I act even worse when we're not together! Skate worse too!"

My personal opionion is she was a pretty short term thinker in the way she maneuvered Bryce this last time. There's not a man on this planet that smart, attractive, nice, networked and popular who will be that devoted to Jessica, who knows so many people that are good to know who would be nice to Jessica for his sake.

She'll always have someone but I think her options will go down the scale.

  3. Bryce certainly seems to be all of those things you listed. If Jessica is so annoying that Scott cringes in her presence, what did Bryce see in her? She must have some redeeming qualities I guess. They got together when she was young, maybe she wasn't as bad and then they had history...

And how incredibly stupid is it that with Cdn Ladies it's "we'll see what happens at 4cc" yet DW unquestionably go to 4cc AND Worlds ??? I get what you say about why it's in most skaters' interest not to rat out TS-J-SC, but are these other pairs skaters saints??

    1. They were young when they got together and there was a big language gap, plus chemistry. His family was so supportive not just of skating but of her family.

I don't understand why SC it's different for D/W than Amelie, but I suppose in part it's SC has two pairs teams going to Worlds but only one woman, so their ass is covered. With Amelie I think it sucks because it's her they don't want to send. It was already clear they'd send Caetlyn Osmond if she'd won.

I think Bryce is naturally more patient than Scott Moir, more empathetic to the things Jessica presents as her issues. Me, I wonder if Bryce didn't use the wrong lens looking at her - he and his family seemed to see her as someone with self-doubt who needed constant reassurance, whereas what if she is someone intolerant of criticism and disinclined to work at something that doesn't come easily? They're different things. They got on like a house on fire OFF ice, which is so ironic, and maybe that's it.

To whom would the skaters rat out Scott and Tessa other than a tabloid - tabloids are based in the U.S.? as long as there's a system of the media reporting what Scott and Tessa say about their relationship instead of presenting it as something the media has confirmed independently, they're within bounds. I can't imagine a figure skater calling them out with their names attached. That would be a story - if a SC skater went to the press on record. I think hell would freeze over first. Anonymously - it wouldn't be news and not worth it. CBC and tsn both have partnerships with SC. Rosie DiManno looks like she's warming up to be SC's Boswell/groupie. We've seen the media sheepishly go into faux scrum formation for Barb's photo ops. So who?

      Delete
    2. Yeah I guess that's the issue, there's no one to tell the story TO. I just can't believe that some of those negatively affected aren't pissed as hell. From other pair skaters to parents of any young skaters...it's mind-boggling how toxic this has become.

  4. Why wouldn't skaters rat this out to a regular Canadian paper? Mismanagement of taxpayer funds is a serious concern.

    ReplyDelete
  5. We don't know there's literal fund mismanagement. Incompetence, that's obvious.

Mismanagement - unless the fact that the personnel are neck deep in the sham, which is a hoax, then yes, as the salaries are, arguably, paid in part by the $$$ SC receives from the government (and I don't know how SC's finances are structured) and these people are running a hoax on the public on government money, fuck yeah it should be ratted out.

The part about - who paid for Jessica and her siblings to the Dominican? And particularly - who paid for the Dubes to go to Paris in 2009? We don't know. Me, in both cases I'd guess the Virtues put out the literal $$.

How much do the other skaters know how this operates? They know Scott & Tessa are together; know their circumstances. Have THEY considered that the CEO, Director of Business Operations, etc., involved in this is inappropriate? We're not talking business savvy people here, for the most part. They've got their own problems.

How much do they know of the particulars - how it breaks down? That Jessica gets some favorable treatment I'm sure they know, but politics runs through figure skating. Look at the Gilles/Poirier situation, look at how MTM didn't get SC, etc.

What would be in it for the skaters - they'd need a motive - more than a motive - an incentive. I imagine many of them would have no idea who to take it to, they're just people, even if they wanted to. I think this is a bigger deal to outsiders than anyone inside. SC has been mismanaged for years.

To me it's very interesting they've lost the sponsors they've lost; it's interesting that Roots went away from Scott & Tessa specifically, and it remains interesting they're not with IMG. That suggests some smart people would rather not be affiliated at this point. But why would a figure skater care?

In my experience, whether somebody is suffering under mismanagemet or not, most people don't want to get involved or stick their neck out, even if they feel they've gotten the short end of the stick. We know this is how it works in a lot of organizations - non-profits, politics, education, etc. Since when do people, who think or suspect or have strong reason to believe their organization is fucked up - DO something about it - like report it? It's very rare.

  6. I think this would be the best shot http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/content/contact/ It's CBC, but they have in the past investigated things in their own backyard and dug into several topics where I'm sure they received significant pushback. I'm not saying investigative journalism is alive and well in North America, but I do respect this show a lot. I would say the biggest roadblock is that subject of figure skating/actual non-relative level of corruption might be too small potatoes.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Also when it comes to the media - news is entertainment product - even big news. I know some fans have insisted there's legitimate investigative journalism in Canada but is this a story anyone would think is worth it?

Also, look how nobody gives a damn about consistency in narrative. Scott and Tesssa contradicted in 2010 everything they'd said in 2009 about their relationship after her shin surgery and not only did the press report it whole, not one point during the whole flim flam did anybody report how much they talk around, fidget, contradict and are inconsistent. It's pure face value reporting even if it's the opposite of something said before.

I recently read an article about the press on Michelle Bachman's plane when she was campaigning - her campaign's press secretary asked that nobody photograph or report when Bachmann wore chinos and a casual shirt on the plane (she preferred to be more polished when leaving the plane). And nobody did. Why? It's how it works - stupid issue, but the press itself isn't exactly falling over with respect for the general public themselves - they tend to identify more with their well-known subjects.

Look at the split of Dube/Davison - they had a press conference and Jessica's remarks pissed off a lot of D&D fans. She went on about discovering her spark for singles skating, making changes and enrolling in Concordia. She came off like a cold bitch, callous and lacking compassion for Bryce. It was about her. She'd never say never to pairs but right now this was her agenda. These comments made by Jessica were public and discussed everywhere, and the verdict wasn't flattering. This was from her own words.

What's the story now? Bryce had a career-ending injury, Jessica wasn't ready to retire, fortunately there was a likely partner candidate at her training center, and a new team was born. She's an experienced, star skater mentoring her partner and is a tremendously hard worker. This is the story now, unless you're Rod Black, in which case you throw in the dramatic phone call made to Sebastien Wolfe (WHERE does Rod Black get this shit?).

This is just pulled out of people's hind ends, it becomes the new story, and nobody blinks.

I think some people believe the media that has any awareness of skating would be interested in blowiing this up when they prefer to go along with whatever spin is current. The media that has no awareness of figure skating would be hamstrung getting the big picture, the names of the players, how it works, what's happened to date and why, etc. All of that helps SC and those involved - that it's not mainstream.

  9. Why does SC hate Amelie?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think they hate her, but they think Cynthia is the better skater and more likely to be top ten at Worlds than Amelie, and I guess they think Caetlyn Osmond can do a 3/3 and is a young, potential future star, and to them Amelie is a mediocre journeywoman. Of course she's beaten Cynthia in their every outing this season so I think them preferring Cynthia over Amelie isn't fair. Cynthia's been top 10 and Amelie hasn't.

So to them, unlike Caetlyn, Amelie has no future. And unlike Cynthia, she's never been top 10.

My POV? Ladies suck in Canada and it makes no difference if Cynthia goes to Worlds and gets top ten. They ought to focus on that, not on getting a second Worlds slot.

      Delete
    2. I agree, especially after the short at 4C's. Why does it matter if Amelie is 7th and Cynthia is 8th or vis versa? It's not like if they sent Cynthia to worlds that she would magically appear on the podium. I think it is unfair to Amelie. If Cynthia was really the better skater she would have won Canadians. I see Amelie and Cynthia as equals at this point.

      Delete
    3. I believe because the finish at Worlds determines how many Canadian ladies go to the Olympics, and SC feels Cynthia has the potential for a top ten finish and Amelie doesn't. I say what difference does it make how many women they send to the Olympics in 2 years - Canadian ladies suck and their big hope is Joanne's return. I completely agree with "mathman" a poster on goldenskate, who talked about how the Federation officials think the sport is about them. It's ridiculous to bank on the potential of a mediocre veteran. It would be different if they were giving a youngster the experience. I'm still amazed at the confidence the SC officials have in their own judgment, considering the debacle they've made of their jobs. But that kind of arrogance coupled with ineptitude is required to mess up that badly. That kind of mess isn't created by smart people.

  10. Here's something I haven't given much though to - how are they going to pull off a World Championships? Is it going to be a disaster, how much international support do they get? Hope they don't embarrass Canada :S

    1. You know, that's an interesting point. I'm from Europe and everyone here hate Chan because he's overscored, tons of people think that the federation Is paying for his victories. Luckely not all the europeans know about the sham story, Canada would be seen in a really bad way by the skating fans's world.

    2. well when they give Chan a 300+ at nationals, this seems very fishy.

    3. Worlds is not going to be a disaster. The SC bigwigs have less to do with it than the LOC (Local Organizing Committee), and the LOCs in London have always pulled off beautifully-organized events. I've been to Canadians in London twice and they were among the best-run figure skating events I've ever attended (and I've been to a lot, including Canadians and Skate Canada International several times, two Worlds, and the Olympics).

  12. I've read a couple of your posts and I have to say that this just comes off as an extremely angry blog which purports to have inside knowledge of the personal lives of athletes and which purports to do the world a favour by "exposing" some big secret, which frankly, doesn't matter at all to the performance of these athletes, nor to the fans. The posts come across as mired in jealousy and the "perception" into the personalities of people that I doubt you personally know, are a bit off-putting. You are welcome to create whatever blog you like, of course, but the lack of evidence creates a bit of a credibility issue.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anon 11:38 you say that their personal lifes don't matter with their carreer and with their fans but this is quite wrong. Do you know that half of their fans follow them because they hope they'll become a couple?
I think this blog gives just opinions. You may disagree but it's unuseful that someone come here and say that this is not credible. It is proven that Scott and Tessa told us (and sold us in a public book) lies. Like the 2008 post-operation-issue.
Why other lies coudn't match? Or do you have a proof that they're not lying about selling to the fans their life? You know, I don't care about their private lifes, it doesn't affect me at all. But I care how they manage things to their fans, the WAY they do it.

      Delete
    2. Yes, it matters and it's incredibly interesting for God's sake. The way SC and VM have messed this up is epic - what a joke to pretend it's not worth talking about. Just carrying on about how the blog must be jealous, blah blah demonstrates investment in the subject.

One point - Jessica being fake and Scott and Tessa being a committed couple isn't opinion - these are facts. I started the blog because of these facts and how obnoxiously Team Virtue Moir had begun dicking around with the fans, as if nobody has enough to do, so let's just play games with people who want to believe us. They continued to do it - teasing couplehood when they wanted to promote something, being unnecessarily coy (such as the teasing about their extra day in Paris) when there was no reason not to give fans credit and treat them with respect. They could still have accmplished their aims but their default (Barb's default and Debbi's) is we're better, you're stupid.

      Delete
    3. This next is opinion - but I think the Jessica Dube defense, all the righteousness about the girl getting bashed because of Scott - is sort of reverse superiority. Oh, I'm more mature, I won't dislike someone because they're dating a man I wish was with someone else.

This attitude forces a lot of people to squash and deny their instincts. They get pissed the blog thinks it's a know-it-all, so they get all "oh poor Jessica, how ridiculous."

Well, consider - and of course, nobody can be forced - that Jessica actually deserves the criticism - if some people can get their ego, desire to come off "mature", and fan politics out of the way. Get ego out of the way. Scott has no higher an opinion of Jessica than this blog has - that's the irony. Jessica's a target not because she appears to be dating Scott, because another skater who was his fake girlfriend wouldn't be getting the same criticism. IMO a lot of people who bash the blog for criticizing her feel the same way but repress it and defend her because they feel it's mature. In this case, they're repressing legitimate instincts.

    4. "One point - Jessica being fake and Scott and Tessa being a committed couple isn't opinion - these are facts."

I personally believe this is true, of course, I just used the word "opinion" in my comment above because some people don't think it is. As I know that you are describing a true fact, most of the people that come here agree and disagree with it. Probably I used the wrong term, I just wanted to say that fans get their opinions and conclusions by reading this blog :)

      Delete
    5. Got it. Definitely the blog has a lot of opinion, observation and comments, etc. and actually I think I did sense your original meaning. At the same time, I do take what opportunities there are to emphasize that this blog wouldn't exist if I didn't know what I do know for a fact about Scott/Tessa and what Jessica's actual role is in the life of Scott Moir. Better actually to say what is her role in the life of Tessa Virtue. She's a decoy.

      Delete
    6. Actually want an addendum to my remarks about (some) fans and Jessica and the posturing about how VM fans hate Jessica for no reason except she's dating Scott.

I know she's not dating Scott and by everything I've been told and can infer about her as well as my own observation, I don't care for her.

When Jessica dumped Bryce the way she did, many of her stalwart supporters on fanforum (the D&D thread) felt betrayed and in part this was because some of them had confessed to giving her the benefit of the doubt because they loved the team and because Bryce obviously supported her. So they ignored their own observations and spun spun spun instead of using common sense about her behavior and her habits. And it ended up biting them in the ass, fanwise.

In my opinion, in this case, the case of Jessica, those who are attempting to lord it over other fans by spinning who Jessica is into something she's not, are also going to get bitten in the ass after 2014. They're going to come off the biggest and most immature fans of all, IMO, fans who, in order to feel superior to other fans, in order to come off mature and score points - made fools of themselves.

Of course this is yet another thing Scott & Co. let happen as we can all be sure he receives pms sympathizing about the blog and supporting Jessica, and he lets people do that without setting them straight.

    7. Just curious- if V/M are actually married, wouldn't there be public record of a marriage license?

      yeah, completely agreed.
Ihave a question, why do they tell us in some interview that they prefer not to be seen togheter, especially in canada? Is it a lie? And if not, why are they so afraid to be recognized?

      Delete
    9. I think it was a half-baked comment - I believe that when they are en route to a skating event in Canada (Canada specifically) and in the vicinity of the event, self-consciousness kicks in and they do a lot of avoiding being seen together stuff unless they have dumped a landfill's worth of sham prior (as they had done for Canadians 2010, with Alma's xmas album, the Dominica and TEB profile picture, etc.) and where Tessa and Scott came and went largely together.

It's ridiculous. Exactly what would fans think if they saw them together? Maybe "why isn't he with Jessica -isn't Jessica here too? Aha! Jessica must be a sham!"

      Ridiculous.

If that's the thinking, then there was no need for "Menage a Trois sur la Glace" which had the point of Jessica emphasizing she and Scott might not be seen together due to each focusing on the separate job they had to do. Of course that wasn't enough - the piece was embellished with Bryce saying it's "hard" to see them together (maybe that was supposed to also explain why Jessica and Scott supposedly kept their distance at competitions but instead it, along with the tawdry feature's title, gave them impression of some Grishuk/Zhulin/Usova mess).

And of course, after all that, they do sham at competitions!!

      Such idiots.

      Delete
    10. Since Jessica never bothered to not be seen with Bryce coming and going from competitions, out and about at events with Bryce, and basically had no issue with not just fans seeing her with Bryce (on facebook for a long time post-sham, as well as both families watching D&D compete together) - it's crossed my mind that Tessa uses the sham as an excuse to do what she wants to do anyway - stay out of public view. Oh I can't - the sham! When she really plain doesn't want to, sham or no sham.

    11. It seems Tessa only wants to stay out of public view if it concerns what people are thinking about her and Scott. In all other respects, as I've read in this blog, she's more than willing to be public: about pretending to be sleeping with whoever is the alleged current SO (Fedor, Ryan Semple), about giving all sorts of details and embellishments concerning her fake off-ice-separate-from-Scott life, etc. She certainly isn't shy about "sharing" with the public....as long as it's not the truth.

How does a person who desires to stay out of public view agree to a documentary about herself?

I can't wait to see what new falsehoods they come up with this time around. They've already milked the book's story of the great estrangement, so I think this time it will be something new they can talk about in another round of interviews. Whatever it is, I doubt it will be true.

      Delete
    12. I suspect "platonic passion" will be the theme, to sweep all the lovey dovey stuff under the theme. They've gone there before but they also ramped up the PDA at the 4CCs - Scott kissing Tessa's hand, the two of them embracing at the boards not just prior to competing, but prior to practice - really make a point of it - don't hide - then explain once more this is just part of how they're unique.

Jessica will be seen with Scott but she'll be interstitial and not identified. We'll just be invited to infer.

P.S. - I want to comment once more on Carol Moir's profile shot. It's just unprofessional. Possibly William Thompson has a sponsor rabbit he's going to pull out of the hat and SC will have a sponsor next year, but the bottom line is even if SC doesn't give a flying shit about fans, most sponsors care about the impression that somebody doesn't give a flying shit about fans - the impression of being unprofessional, manipulative, etc. Be all those things if you wish, but don't flaunt those things. It's just so self-indulgent and short-sighted.

      P.S. - I want to reference

    3. Barb was pasted to VM after their fd, Debbi and Barb showed the usual intense interest in their stars while showing near-indifference to non-star Canadian competitors (what a class act) - don't forget it's sort of a case of if VM come clean it takes Barb and Debbi "down".

Of course Barb and Debbi's careers and self-interest - what more noble cause could two skaters have for manipulating the public, mocking them and lying their faces off while charging money for it? I well understand why Carol Moir needed to express herself with a profile photo of GMac giving the finger to all who'd dare question Team Virtue Moir's rights to work fans over. (If indeed, that's the reason she chose that photo. However, as a public figure, representative of Skate Canada, and somebody who interacts with fans, she should not put up a profile photo subject to that interpretation. They're one self-disciplined, mature bunch.)

    4. Regarding this comment:

"Debbi and Barb showed the usual intense interest in their stars while showing near-indifference to non-star Canadian competitors (what a class act)"

I was at 4CC and I saw Barb, Debbi and some other SC official (I think Slipchuk) watching the Canadian skaters. Barb and Debbi, especially, would arrive shortly before a Canadian was due to skate and leave soon after they were done. Sometimes Slipchuk stayed for several skaters. However, for one of the short programs, they didn't even show up for one of the Canadian skaters. I wish I could remember which one, it was either Ten or Najarro. Also, a couple times after one of the "lesser" Canadian skaters was finished with their program, they left even before the scores were posted. Granted, it's possible they were still watching for the scores via some TV connection wherever it was they were going all the time (the club area/skaters' lounge?), but it was conspicuously different than the way they were when Patrick or V/M were due to skate. In those cases, they made sure to arrive well before their turn and stayed well past the posting of the scores.

I did see Debbi a couple times behind the boards where the skaters come on and off the ice, so she probably was down there some of those times. But it was certainly interesting to watch these SC officials come and go like that, and I did see a difference in the interest they showed various skaters.

Another thing that struck me was that I even knew who the SC officials are, and their names. The president of the USFSA was there shaking hands with the skaters on the podium, and I had never seen her nor knew her name. I'm sure the place was crawling with other USFSA officials, but I had no idea who they were.

    5. I just want to know what a so-called Director of Business Development of Skate Canada is doing showing up at practices, hanging out with a skater's connections, and doing all types of athlete development type jobs. Isn't the presence of Debbi and Slipchuk redundant? Isn't the overseeing performances at competitions job his and not hers? Isn't Barb the Director of Communications and isn't much of the stuff she does hands-on the purvue really of staff and personnel lower than Director level?

Most of all I want to know, especially since Skate Canada's sponsors deserted them and others weren't beating down the door - WHO is doing the business development for SC? It's not Debbi. Anybody with half a clue, and that would be most people, knows it is impossible to do the Business Development job while personally "overseeing" everything skaters are doing, in practices and performances and for Christ sake, galas, at camps and meetings and not even mentioning Skate Buzz. She's not. She's absolutely not. Who is?

It begs the question - is anybody?

    6. How nice for Debbi and Barb to get a little vacation. All-expenses paid at a four-star hotel. They get to watch practices, attend the parts of a competition they choose, hang out with friends, get their pictures taken with famous skaters, attend skater events, banquets, etc.

I want that kind of job. Where do I sign up? I'm highly qualified, too. I know how to smile into a camera and I've never had Business Development nor Communications training.

Debbi has a communications degree from the seventies, so of course she's totally qualified to do public relations and business development.

    8. Degrees from another decade are easily kept updated with continuing education and experience. Debbi not only did not stay updated she never had a previous job where she did any of the things her title implies. It shows how little SC really cares about professionalism and cutting-edge business practices that they hire a woman who knows ZERO about her job. Then, when it's proven she knows nothing and SC is worse off, what does SC do? They keep her instead of firing her. And SC sucks at PR for the skaters or their events, but they also keep Barb on the payroll instead of firing her.

We know the rule of all incompetent organizations is if they're criticized you have to maintain the status quo because any change is an admission that the criticism is legitimate.

  14. Public record? I used to think so but have been told otherwise. It should be on the record, but not accessible to the public (nobody's is).

But that's also why it's so handy to have connected friends in Monaco (and South of France) so one can get married THERE, without anyone nosy in a Canadian government data department leaking something.

  15. I often read of celebrities getting married and their marriage license info gets out... I wasn't sure if they were public records that anyone can see, or if an employee "leaks" it. In some US counties, you can do a search online for the marriage license, but you would have to know the county. I guess if VM did it in another country, there's no way to know, unless someone does DNA on the baby =P

    ReplyDelete
  16. I haven't checked Canadian law out personally - one Canadian told me it would be publicly searchable on the record if they'd married in Canada (another reason not to marry in Canada), but someone else said no (both are skating fans). What I've looked up - just googled, not seriously checked - seems to say the public can't access it and you can't get it on subscription search engines often used by investigators and law firms either.

Good to remember about celebrities is when their marriage gets out, they want it out. It's all a game. Oh, we're just private people who wanted a private wedding, also, under the circumstances (one of them has a spouse that died, there's a scandal, fill-in-the-blank) we wanted to stay under-the-radar.

Except they don't. So they leak and are all - we're just too famous. It's so unfair we can't be private like other people. It sucks.

That's a publicity game. When celebrities bat their eyes and share their methods for dodging paparazzi as if it takes up a big part of their lives and they work hard at it - crap. There are actually pretty obvious, conventional ways to stay dl no matter how famous you are. When celebrities' stuff "leaks" - they want it to leak or didn't work terribly hard to stop it. They just also want the "we don't want fame" persona, because it makes them look SO famous that people work hard to learn about them even when they TRY to stay private.

Not to mention - Monaco. Boy. South of France - double oh boy. There's no better place to get records finessed, hidden, falsified, "lost", etc. than either of those places. One of the reasons both are meccas for the rich, one of the reasons they both thrive no matter what the economy. How lucky (seriously, how freaking lucky)two figure skaters from Ontario both have major connections there.

Doubt the baby was born in Monaco but was the baby born in the US or Canada?

  17. The other problem with a Monaco wedding is - is it even recognized by the Canadian govt? I have heard of couples with a foreign wedding who have to also get a courthouse version done when they get home, in which case there would be a paper trail. Unless it is one of those phony "spiritual unions."

    1. I think the marriage stuff depend on what type of wedding they choosed. Well if it is a religious one, I think it can be recognized everywhere.

    2. If it's a wedding in a country not their own, I believe the couple still needs to file some paperwork through their country's embassy or consulate in order make things legal in their own country. In those cases, I don't know what the laws would be regarding a public paper-trail.

When it comes to a baby born in a country not the parents' country of citizenship, in most cases the baby automatically has citizenship in the country of birth and the parents can file a birth certificate in the embassy or consulate that belongs to their own country, thereby giving the baby dual citizenship. I don't think dual citizenship is automatic unless the paperwork is filed. Again, I don't know about public paper-trails in these cases.

  19. What about W/P? Are they also married? Or do they just live togheter?

A curiosity: it is said and has been said that Pechalàt/Verner have got a baby and that they're actually hiding it, so I wouldn't be surprised if Tessa and Scott do the same thing. I think is really common, more common than we think.

    1. I don't know about the other two skaters, but I do always wonder what people mean about hiding a baby. From whom? A competitive venue isn't a place for a baby so even if a couple has admitted they're parents they're unlikely to take the baby to the venue - that's work. How many toddlers and babies do we really see in the audience? From time to time, but it's not frequent.

Otherwise, figure skaters are often anonymous in their own communities. Even when Ann Arbor/Canton has honored its figure skaters the turn-out has been (relatively) modest. It's not really hiding a baby because more often than not the figure skaters aren't themselves recognized as they go about their daily lives.

    4. It's totally crass but it's also so so entitled.

Okay, let's go with this - Scott has said "I'm not a classy guy. I'm not a typical ice dancer."

I'm not going to try and define what he meant but I get it - I'm sure most of us do. So fine, he is who he is. So fine, the Moirs are who they are and let it all hang out and don't care - they're genuine.

Except they're not. That's the pisser. They manipulate the shit out of fans. They exploit that "genuine" persona to lie their faces off, set fans up, pull the rug out, make fools of them.

Flip the bird? Really? For what? Because they're entitled to do that and somebody who calls them out is an asshole? Amazing point of view.

The ones who are made the biggest fools are people like the person who went to twitter - that's this girl's public twitter with her photo - and talked about how people who blame Jessica Dube for their fantasies of Scott and Tessa not being true make her laugh. Meantime, the joke's on her. Meantime, there are fans who pm Scott, and the Moirs, praising them, apologizing for the blog and other people who don't believe them, and they get thanked - and meanwhile they're totally getting played. And what's more, Scott doesn't even pay these people back by being consistent on his fan facebook. All he does is link to public stuff - not even with a comment - and fans fall all over themselves thanking "him" for the trouble. Almost no effort gets rewarded and he (and the team) can't even be bothered with that.

I don't want to bash only the Moirs - the Virtues are neck deep in it as well. The Moirs are the public face.

  21. These speculations on a hidden baby and a secret marriage are now bordering on ridiculous. If Virtue and Moir are indeed keeping a secret relationship, I can certainly see why given the absurdity of these comments. I came here hoping to see some thoughtful commentary and evidence showing Virtue and Moir were indeed a couple. Instead, I'm disappointed to find nothing but wild speculations.

    1. Wait up - you say if Virtue Moir are keeping a secret relationship, you can see why they keep it secret because of the ridiculous comments about how they keep stuff secret? Your reasoning isn't clear to me.

I really wonder how Tessa and Scott intend to explain themselves to fans like you after Sochi. If past is precedent they'll leave those fans holding the bag, feeling foolish, and offer no explanation that doesn't implicitly scapegoat fans - if they bother with any explanation at all. They obviously feel entitled to not simply lie about their relationship status, but also to actively manipulate fans for profit.

  22. When I was referring to ridiculous comments, I'm referring to the comments about a so-called secret baby or a secret marriage. People are making stories out of nothing - can you imagine what people would do with a little information?

I personally believe that Virtue and Mour owe me no explanation at all about their relationship. They are entitled to keep things secret for whatever reason they choose. Just like you don't reveal any personal information about yourself and blog under an annonomous name. I am not offended, and others who are, frankly, take it a little too personally.

This blog has offered no evidence of a relationship, other than a few pictures where Virtue and Moir don't sit together. It's disturbing to me that others are willing to accept grand stories on so little evidence. Isn't this what this blog accuses Virtue and Moir of - misleading others to believe one story over another? If you're truly going to provide an exposé, then there needs to be some actual proof, other than hateful opinionated posts.

I think it's fun to speculate about them being a couple, but does there need to be all this negativity attached?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Can I just say that it doesn't appear that your heart is really in this? Claims of a baby and/or marriage just BORDER on ridiculous? You don't care whatever secrets VM are hiding, but are sure they can't be hiding THAT? Or you're not offended if the things in this blog are true, just offended that they are explained here in such a hateful way? Plenty of people on here feel completely satisfied by the evidence presented, and completely unoffended by the tone of this blog...you are completely welcome to your own perception, but the idea that this blog is "negative" is nothing more than an opinion. It has become a very positive place for people who ARE offended by the way TS have handled things.

    1. :) You have to admit the comment above yours is hitting all the predictable highlights typically reached for when someone wants to shut down a topic. The horse has left the barn on that one, where this blog's theme is concerned, though.

I am always flummoxed by anyone who takes the tone that they're deigning to share with me an important viewpoint about the blog and the blogger, personally, that I ought to take under greater consideration than my own. But it's not surprising that somebody who cares so very much what other people think would believe the blog would care what they think. Especially when they care so much about what people think of a topic that has nothing to do with them. It's sour grapes, IMO, it's just fan wars. I don't even believe that comments from people such as the one above yours really ARE motivated because they're disturbed people believe certain things about Tessa and Scott. They're disturbed people believe the BLOGGER. It's resentment, pure and simple, taking the blog personally and frustrated because it can't be bullied into shutting down. I know that's a large part of what's behind these comments from people who take time out of their important lives to share what a waste of time the blog is and what it says about its writer.

I know the topic gets discussed very differently in private than the show people put on grandstanding on public forums.

    2. I just want to add that this matters because Tessa and Scott do a whole lot more than lie about their relationship. They also tease their relationship, pimp it out, set fans up and then yank the rug out - that was standard operating procedure leading up to and post-Olympics. That sort of spiteful gamesmanship has absolutely nothing to do with privacy protection.

Furthermore, they have dragged fans into it - using fans as their scapegoat for everything, proactively pushing the buttons of fans and then turning around and mocking them. The list of chain jerking is depressingly long. They play people for fools when it's not called for - they go out of their way. Then they turn around and play the patriotism card as a distraction for their lack of respect for the Canadian public.

Shams are not new. Claiming to be "bff" or "brother and sister" when your relationship is actually anything from fuck buddies to husband and wife is the oldest gambit in celebrity. They are not simply shamming. They are mind fucking. They put a bunch of lies in a book, went out and announced this was the fans' opportunity to get the real behind the scenes scoop, held back ordinary photos so that fans would pay for them, then promoted the shit out of this book at ages 20 and 22, cynically pimping out their earnest, home grown personas. Would these kids lie to you?

For those who care, and since these people desperately want to market themselves while enjoying the perogatives of a couple of hermits - Scott also staged pda with a woman for Xmas and on other occasions while his wife was pregnant, and slapped those photos on facebook. Does it matter his wife wanted him to do it? That's disgusting. Fans - even those not sure why they think something's wrong - just know they do - feel it's disgusting. It's freaking stressful for fans, this bullshit.

Of course then when they want to promote "Funny Face" they turn coy, bat their eyes at the camera and make like they're so thrilled about being in Paris - a city they've thoroughly visited many times before - they're going to stay an extra day - just the two of them - visiting all those romantic Parisian locals. Because you know, fans are morons and don't know what a photo shoot looks like.

Why is this our business? Because they've made it our business. Apparently they believe they are entitled to work fans over as much as they want and fans have no choice but to suck it up or shut up. Pushing back? Heavens, how very dare we. :) Flip the bird.

    3. "Fans - even those not sure why they think something's wrong - just know they do - feel it's disgusting."

I think this accurately describes a core issue in all of this.

I've been a figure skating fan for a long time and I've had many many favorites over the years. I have never cared who they were dating off-ice. (And no, I've never shipped movie stars, either.)

When I first became a fan of V/M, I thought it was "cute" that they called each other brother-sister and were dating other people. However, the more I saw them throughout their competitions, the more questions I had about the way they described their status. Then when all those smarmy Scott-Jessica photos begin flooding facebook, starting more than a year before the Olympics, it was just as this blogger has described it - something didn't feel right and I was disgusted. For a long time I questioned my sanity because I really don't care who celebrities are dating, but there was something about this that was indescribable, weird, and certainly disgusting.

If they had just said other SO's existed, without actually providing pda photos, important family events showcasing the "gf", etc., I don't think we would have this feeling of outrage. Sure, other celebrities lie about their private lives, but in general the communication with the public is along the lines of, "No comment," and not actually creating a fake parallel life, complete with facebook pages and "family photos." What Tessa and Scott have done has crossed that subtle line of "privacy" and become a disgrace. Now every.single.communication with the public is threaded with lies and highly embellished. And they want us to fork over money to keep this going? Heck no!

    4. Freaking stressful for fans? Sigh. It really isn't, I may wish for them to be together or not, but it isn't stressful for me. I am fan - not a family member or a friend, so they don't owe me any explanation on their relationship. Their book was their road to the Olympics, not a book on their relationship. Again you can disagree, but I do not feel duped, dragged into anything, stressed out, mocked of, disgusted, bilked, mind fucked, or anything out of the sort. I am not part of that fan group who does, I guess.

      Delete
    5. If their book wasn't about their relationship the centerpiece of their book promotion wouldn't have been a fictitious "rift" they claimed lasted a year. They wouldn't have made up and actively promoted a story that claimed they didn't communicate at all during that time when in fact they were living together and Scott was in London with her, not in Canton with hockey sticks and sandbags.

If there promotion is about the Olympics Scott wouldn't have made the coy drop that next they were going to a romantic trip to Monaco and then have Alma sting the fans with Monaco.

It's stressful for fans because they bait fans and sting them, and then mock the fans when fans take the bait.

  24. You quite passionately believe this is how they conduct business, don't you? Dragging fans into it? Mind fucking? Fans have no choice but to suck it up or shut up? Come on. I'm not saying everything they do in the public is sincere, but why exactly do they have to? You can't honestly believe that celebrities/public figures are expected to lay all their private details out on display. It's always so surprising when people demand that these private details be made on display and if those details are silent and not exposed to the world, then some heinous crime such as the mind fucking has occurred. Well, I've said it before, it's not that offensive to me and I really can't see why it's offensive to others but we can disagree. I find it unrealistic to expect public figures display everything out in the open but you demand that the "truth" be displayed eitherwise mind fuckery occurs.

I was hoping for some juicy tidbits such as stories from the rink or from fellow skaters, but all I get are angry claims about public pictures and a lot of weird opinions about Skate Canada.

    2. Why you would hope for juciy tidbits when the premise of the blog is that Scott and Jessica are faking being bf and girlfriend beats me.

Also it's not fans that expect private lives, it's Scott and Tessa and the hoax team around them who have absolutey spammed fans with their fake private lives, who in 2009 and 2010 swept in hundreds of fans at a clip specifically to get the biggest facebook audience they could for the hoax. So please with fan expectations - this is something Team Virtue Moir proactively set up.

I'm not sure what point is being made by accusing a blogger of different types of emotion. It doesn't change facts.

Who said anything about expecting Scott and Tessa to lay out their private details to the public? You're right, no one expects celebrities to do that. This is not about wanting "private details" from Scott and Tessa - wherever did you get that idea? Scott and Tessa (and Bryce and Jessica) are the ones who bombarded the public with TMI. Trashy and icky personal details, accompanied by intimate-looking photos. They treated the public with contempt, and profited from it, and now we're supposed to feel guilty for being offended?
Sorry, but I am indeed offended.

I guess I'm not part of the public that feels that contempt has been thrust upon me. And I never said you should feel guilty for being offended, perhaps you came to that realization on your own. I just said that I don't understand the rage and the stress because again, V/M owe nothing to me. I am a fan and their personal lives should mean nothing to me. I am interested for gossip sake, sure.
