ETA am informed below that the childhood partner on Mr. D was played by an actress (and the character name is not Jackie Mascarin), so it's just extra fun for all.
I don't review the comments as much as I should (which I should change) as I'm trying to place hold this blog until ice dance wakes up to something other than Papadakis & Cizeron's march to 5 World titles and their already-awarded 2022 Olympic gold. Clearly, stuff slips through the cracks as the blog lens gets wider and more general instead of gathering up the details - to mix metaphors.
So I missed the fun in the blog comments (which are very funny, and my apologies for having not seen them when they first landed) and remained in the dark. I had no idea Mascarin was the actual ex partner and this was a new thing they were doing until I recently plugged Virtue and Moir into a search engine and landed in tumblr:

That sort of post makes me cringe, but obviously VM find this stuff entertaining.
Takeaways. They missed trolling? They're going for it in 2022? The latter terrifies me. But they're just not going away. Is their fame so ephemeral that if they dial this shit back their Q rating and earning power takes a dive? WTF are the elements in the algorithm that spat this thing out? Can't they hawk grocery delivery services, fawn over each other, smirk about partnerships, can't Tessa pull diner imagry she got from some movie* where the people are old, the lighting is misty, they share hot chocolate and get wistful about that time they were young and never got together and now never will but what a time it was - if they retired? Aren't those things retired Olympic champions can do? So why aren't they retiring? I could do mental backflips and think they're not retiring just so they can have an excuse to be cowards and not widen their own lens, but that's what I thought last time, and then they announced.
How come they mix it up with every new program (except their show programs) but don't mix this up? Wait, the parenthetical just answered the question.

So now of course I'm checking out the comments I've missed and right off I see a transcript of commentators trashing P/C's inflated points. Thank you for that. But, it's also scary, because if people are allowed to question the judging instead of talking about PC's ephemeral magic, the door might be creaking open (again) and I just don't want VM to skate through it. I was positive they had the green light last time, and look what nearly happened.
*or Tessa pulled it from somebody's online fan fiction. She's wicked clever, right? Would not surprise as that's where the W Network's "Tessa and Scott" stole its entire script. I'm sure there's a Dr. Zhivago-esque scenario somewhere, only in London and it's a diner, and Old Scott sees Golden Ager Tessa across the street going into a shop, does a double take, rushes out, and gets hit by a car. Life is poignant. The diner schtick, for me, evokes Tessa's tweet of some time past sharing a wisdom-fueled flight she experienced with her seatmate, a man named John who was just the right amount of old (77). If his name had been Larry we'd have never heard about it.
What do you make of the rumors that Tessa and Andrew Poje are hooking up?

ReplyDeleteSecond, makes me speculate that Poje and Weaver decided to become parents in the year they took off and anyone who is anyone in ice dance has cover that shit up, everybody knows that. Protection, privacy, fans, blah blah. Ice dance is BIG.
Don't know, but that would be anyone's first guess. It's also sleazy enough to be right up their alley. Remember when Fedor Andreev was sleeping with every ice dancer that wandered into his mom's training center? Yet the girls all stayed best gal pals? Just like real life!
What do you make of the fact that Scott doesn’t really seem...happy lately? Do you think he wanted to stop and come clean and Tessa wanted to keep going? Are WeaPo allegedly married as well?
DeleteI don't take their mood temperatures based on their public comportment or how it's interpreted. I also can't do anything about rants like the tumblr poster above who accuses fans of projecting when Virtue and Moir bait the line with so much chum it practically capsizes the boat. They troll for people to say they're together and then they blow it up and that's the game. One thing for certain is they dislike when things are quiet and fans are accepting. They WANT to sucker fans in. They have for 10 years. I'm sure the rationale for it as evolved even if it's really just a sunk cost fallacy, but if they ever come clean the reason they claim will be pious, you can bet your last dime on that one. They like to stir the shit, it's their MO, and then they look at what they've stirred up and say "Look at all that! How can we ever have privacy." and their surrogates commence lecturing on social media. It all feels very 2012 to me and not where celebrities and social media are trending or will be trending.
DeleteBottom line, my main theory is it has to do with 2022 unless Tessa is pregnant yet again. One of the two (the Olympics or a pregnancy) must always include fake love interests.

DeleteWhile the Jackie thing is a VM Sham Production, the Andrew rumors are not from them. The Andrew rumors were started by a particularly nasty person on Tumblr who seems to love nothing more than stirring the pot by antagonizing certain parts of the VM fandom and trying to incite drama into a fandom that has more than enough already. There is a twitter account, https://twitter.com/chelsanitys1993/, that is documenting the lies and manipulations of the nasty tumblr blogger. That person is off in some of their assumptions, like that VM aren't together or that a person with sekret sources would have shut down ideas. It's mainly a useful source of documentation since the nasty tubmlr likes to delete things to cover her tracks.
One of the consequences of hiding everything is that it opens the door for rumors like this. However, even if VM were out and public about everything, this person would probably be trying to stir things up by claiming Tessa was leaving Scott, taking the kids, and moving to France. Also, while sham SO's have been a hallmark for VM, although WP deny in the press, fake SO's have never been their thing.
Kaitlyn posted twice on Instagram in honor of Andrew's birthday a few days ago. Both are pretty adoring. In the comments for one of posts, someone tried to fan the rumor flames again and Kaitlyn replied telling the person to "go get a life."
I'm also about 99.987% sure that WP have not had a child and joined that club with VM and HD. Although they skipped the GP series this fall to tour, they have had zero breaks from the public eye with touring, etc. They even competed at ACI this fall. Kaitlyn's body has also changed zero.
Going back to VM and the Jackie thing, I'm wondering what is up. It had been, I think, about 3 years since they'd had a sham SO. Tessa will be 30 in May. The first Little Moir is now 8 and in school. She'll be half grown in another year. It seemed like we were at least past the fake SO's until we weren't. My preference would be another child because my fear is 2022. If skating wasn't the mess that it is and the judging fair, then there would be zero reason for VM not to be on their way to Beijing for their fourth individual OGM. Back in reality, after Pyeongchang, Beijing would be another Sochi with not even a chance. I do not have the intestinal fortitude to handle another Olympics for VM.
Thank you for catching me up re where the Andrew piece is coming from. I've been doing a general Virtue and Moir google each time I prepare to post here, as I don't want to focus on the sham unless they are actively, currently, proactively shamming. Until recently, I saw nothing that said they were, just harmless-seeming cutesey stuff and wink-wink "We're not DATING" stuff that doesn't fall under the umbrella of active gaslighting. Nor is it stirring the shit and then pointing fingers as if they weren't the ones stirring it. It's when that happens that the blog returns to dealing with the sham stuff.
DeleteI'm not on twitter much and don't participate on tumblr. What a hornet's nest I found! In year's past there was heartbreak, disappointment, etc. when a sham thing would come up, but this time there was "The partnership has ended!!" and just really OTT stuff you'd think everybody would have moved past at this time. But I guess they have a bunch of new fans, and as upset as fans often seem to be, they like the community all this fake drama spawns. Here comes the fan fic, here come the theories. That stuff is 100% resistant to common sense.
My preference is also another child, and not 2022. I did see one photo of Tessa while surfing where I said oh look at that - that looks familiar, and made me think our preferred option is what is really happening, but I haven't hunted down others. Even still, reviving a sham is stupid. She's shown up in public clearly pregnant before, such as on that Ryan Semple red carpet, the pics were photoshopped and there you go. Everybody knows - she could have a baby on board t-shirt and nobody would ask anything they didn't want asked, nor acknowledge/report anything they didn't want reported.
I am curious what has brought Jackie Mascarin into the light after all this time. Jessica was Skate Canada and their skating community. Cassandra was also from the local skating community, a London girl and a necessary prop for their reality show. Kaitlyn was Canadian and an elite Olympic athlete, which, besides cross-promotion, could mean she had any number of reasons. But JM never uttered a peep through the past three Olympic cycles and you'd think she'd be cute background color. I have to say that from what I've seen, her resting bitch face makes me wonder if she's getting enough out of this.
P.S., I am enjoying a couple of accounts I've come across that out loud snark on VM's b.s., including one post that took the perspective of their kids.

Hi, i'm interested in the transcript of P/C. Hints of some dissatisfaction in forum chat boards but not outright saying that P/C's skating was questionable. OK, still there's that dig about how nice it is to see programs that aren't outwardly sexy, etc (hint...hint, directed at V/M of course) while gushing on the "performance" of you-knw-who. Gag...but doesn't matter. No matter what they'll view P/C as far more superior in every way over V/M (even when it's so obvious thier skatings skills are still yet to be desired - or in this case, actually et to be judged appropriately). Ice Dance down the hatch for me ...

DeleteBefore I read "The Big Short" (about the financial crisis), I was not aware that the language of the stock market was intentionally opaque, so that it is not easily penetrated by a civilian. Ice dance is in the same racket. The rules and requirements, while recently watered down (and still applied with a double standard) are all that should be explained to us, with the skating (not the performance - a somewhat different thing) assessed via the rules, requirements and standards, a la gymnastics. Instead when ice dance is commented on and reported upon, pageant attributes, emotion, crowd appeal, program style and music choice and a whole bunch of other crap are mish mashed in with an arbitrary reference to what's in CoP, and what's in CoP is considered to accurately report what happened on the ice, rather than the scores being scrutinized based on how something was skated.
