Documenting stuff for the record is important?

From Virtue Moir in a new piece by Lori Ewing - largely about Patrick Chan but she brings in Virtue Moir so they can plug their "reality" show.

http://metronews.ca/sports/786622/a-summer-spent-on-rink-in-detroit-for-chan/
“It’s a fly-on-the-wall type series,” Moir said. “People are going to really see what we go through day to day. So much is (usually) just seeing us in makeup and sparkles. So you’ll see me when my hair doesn’t look this pretty, right?”
Virtue and Moir said they don’t mind the added attention.
“The neat thing is we get to share so much of our story with viewers and with family and friends and fans, and hopefully it’s something that people find interesting,” Virtue said. “I know when I see other athletes I love seeing the behind-the-scenes things, I love seeing the highs and the lows, and we’ve been through so much together, there is a lot of that. You see the tears and you see the laughing fits.”
The reality series, Moir added, will be a nice keepsake of what will likely be their last season skating competitively.
“This is a great point in our career,” Moir said. “We’re healthy athletes and we’re going to another Olympic Games to defend our title. It’s a great part of our lives, let alone our careers.
“Being able to document that is fun for us to look back on.”
Seriously, I don't know how they don't choke on it.

  1. They also said the Bridal photo-shoot was a nice keepsake they wanted to do for family and friends.

After spending the last 10 years saying they were annoyed at all the stupid fans who want them to be a couple, they decided what their friends and family really wanted was to see them dressed up in wedding clothes. They pretty much said the fans are still a bunch of idiots but please, don't get the wrong impression with this lovely beautiful bridal shoot that was SO MUCH FUN to do for the sake of having these memories that they never intended anyone to take seriously (why would anyone think it means anything?). (*rolleyes*)

Now the documentary is also a keepsake? And Tessa loves the behind-the-scenes stuff? (*rolleyes*) Please. Lies already and they're still only in the videotaping stage of this thing.

I'll go out on a limb and say anything off-ice will be something manufactured specifically for the documentary. VM sharing anything real off-ice? Not a chance. I take that back, it will be "real" seeing them without makeup. But all the rest? Yeah right.

  2. Off ice includes all manner of physical conditioning, talking about costumes, talking to Marina, etc. Also, when Tessa, earlier, said she wasn't sure family and friends even knew what she and Scott did in Canton, that suggests it's not going to be their actual lives (which would include family of friends) but their lives as skaters, which includes a bunch of off-ice stuff. Wonder what she's going to cry about (since she mentioned we'd see the tears as well as the good stuff).

They really must love documenting stuff because a whole lot of stuff is documented on the internet that's not going away and they keep putting it out. That could be another thing the blog misreads. The blog does keep saying Jesus Christ, what kind of human would keep pumping out this kind of garbage for their child to see. Maybe they look at it differently and they pump out so much sham because it's part of documenting things - things they want to look back on and enjoy.

    1. 6:28 here. You're right, off-ice could be a whole lot of stuff that is still about the skating. Actually, that would be great. Anything related to the skating (that's real) would be nice.

I'll amend my first post to say I think any off-ice that is not skating-related.... will probably be fake. They love dishing out the fake stuff so much I can hardly envision a series of shows that does not include some earnest embellishing of something totally made up.

Maybe Tessa cries when she talks of her future life without ever seeing Scott again. (sob)

  3. I see Barb MacDonald still sets things up so that the skaters are interviewed by "scrum" method. So idiotic. Alert! Stop the presses! Figure skaters!

    So lame.

    1. I think the "mixed zone" I've seen in USFSA photos makes more sense because the skater walks the line or visits the zone instead of backs to the wall with the same people from last year thrusting their electronics towards them. SC this year has posted some photos of skater sit-downs with media, which is less juvenile messaging than trying to send the message that HPC is as intense as a high profile criminal trial.

  4. Forget the suing for a moment. I juse see Teaas & Scott's FD. AMAZING. Although I hvabe yet to see D/W's. I doubt there is anyway they could surpass them. I do have to say though. I have anfeeling D/W will win every comp this year. The onlymway thsynwilll lose gold id is there is a mistake on the, twizzles. I know everyone saysnthat Davis and White should never bencompared to Virtue and Moir. But, they are. And have gone clean the last season. This will be a tough year for Virtue/Moir. Stop spending timemwith Cass annd put in the joirs of trraining...

    1. If you saw the free dance then you're either a fellow skater, perhaps media or someone who works with Skate Canada because as far as I know, it wasn't open to the public.

If Scott's girlfriend is taking time away from training or his off-ice conditioning, then it's a problem but if he's just choosing to spend his weekends with her, what's the big deal? Honestly people. He's a healthy 26 year old, do you expect him to remain celibate for the duration of his career with Tessa?

      As for this:
"If Scott's girlfriend is taking time away from training or his off-ice conditioning, then it's a problem but if he's just choosing to spend his weekends with her, what's the big deal? Again, Virtue and Moir are married. Scott certainly isn't celibate.

    3. This was a fairly tight lipped camped. Besides Eric Radford's tweet indicating that VM's FD is wow and Paige Lawrence thanking Marnie McBean on twitter for her talk...otherwise quiet..but it was interesting to hear that G/P did not do their programs (according to the interview on SkateCanada'a youtube channel). So I am guessing that Paul Poirier's ankle is less than 100%. Hell if PJ Kwong didn't tweet - you wouldn't have known that there was a high performance camp. At least the skating season will start shortly with Salt Lake City's senior B event..it will be an interesting event in dance since D/W, the Shibs, P/B, Weaver/Poje and Orford/Williams will be participating...we'll get a good indication on how the SD will be scored...

Meanwhile, the USFS camp seems to exist solely for social media purposes...

    5. Anon at 10:03 am - I'm anon at 9:46 am - my main concern for this camp was for all skaters to get real feedback on their programs. But yeah - you would think that Skate Canada's twitter could have released a few more photos. And seriously what's with the national team picture on an angle, WTF? Oh well some things don't change. I think all of the media interviews for either TSN or CBC will be shown during the Grand Prix season or the Olympics. I wonder if either Tracy Wilson or Kurt Browning were at HPC this year.

    7. 8:42 - Scott is married to Tessa. This comments section does not permit discussion that pretends this isn't true. I'm fine if someone says they don't believe the blog, and then participates in other discussions that crop up, but this shit about "oh, he's a healthy guy with a girlfriend" when he is not, when he's married to Tessa, isn't permitted.

    8. "Meanwhile, the USFS camp seems to exist solely for social media purposes..."

So much for the hope that the new Skate Canada Directors would bring a change in this culture of stinginess in sharing. What is it with SC, do they think their precious skaters or federation will be contaminated if they use social media to promote HPC in a big way (like the USFSA does)?

We all understand the secrecy surrounding the skating programs and that's fine. Don't share anything about the skating itself. But what about all the other stuff happening during HPC?

It occurs to me that even when they think they're sharing they get it wrong. Last year they did put out more candids, but it was the same group of 4-5 skaters in 99% of all the photos. As if HPC didn't include other people except a particular group of friends.

This time around, we've seen *one* measly picture of *one* of the team-building activities. A few excited tweets from various media outlets gushing about meeting the skaters. So? Where are all the pictures showing all the fun everyone says they had? Surely it doesn't infringe on some secret code to see pictures (more than one) of the skaters enjoying each others' company. But that sideways view of the National Team photo is sure exciting. That's what the fans are dying to see, a stiff, formally posed photo - sideways. Thanks SC.

But they sure did get a video of G/P put up right away. Their priorities are in order. (*rolleyes*)

It's not like it's that hard (compare to the USFSA Champs' Camp). So we know it's not about "difficulty." SC just can't be bothered.

Now there's a tweet that sounds like some skaters went to the Toronto Film Festival but it's up to some entertainment blogger to mention this. Skate Canada is seemingly oblivious. All these things are PUBLICITY for skaters and Skate Canada, and this an Olympic season!!

Where the hell is Skate Canada's PR department? They SUCK.

    9. 12:17 - I didn't bother with hope that the new SC CEO and president would change anything. They took a marketing guy from Canadian Tire and made him CEO, so that move alone said plenty - his focus and where he came from. When it comes to Skate Canada it certainly looks as if they need to find someone who needs SC more than SC needs them because nobody who'd be good at the job is interested in taking it. Then, while I understand that the new president has a legit business background, she lives in Boston and was incredibly intense about wanting the job because she's so passionate, and has also been a judge, and something about that doesn't spell clear-sighted and intelligently strategic to me. Emotion-driven.

But there is a point - they get a marketing guy as CEO, almost all marketing of this kind (HPC) with athletes is done on social media and SC's is still crap. Skatebuzz is still off line too.

    8. Thanks - I see it.

      What is wrong with them?

It's the need to make it convincing that is so insane. They have media lying directly to the fans (P.J.) and playing it off as a fan problem.

This sort of photo does NOTHING. Nothing. It's all them. They're having fun.

The desire to be convincing reflects nothing but gross on them, and they obviously do not care. They want to make whatever point they want to make that looms important in their own heads, or they want to cover bizarre context bases, and meantime the internet is becoming littered with photos of Scott with his hands on someone not Tessa and their child would be fine. Kids of actors who know their parents are acting aren't fine, which is why many actors don't let their kids see even g-rated romance their parents act out while blatantly pretending to be someone else (fake name, costumes, etc.) Maybe they plan to keep the kid off the internet until the child is a teen-ager, because at any point prior to that - and even at that age for many - it's just not fun. Their priorities are as ever something to behold.

Intentional disrespect (of himself, his family, the public) and the overall brattiness is just hard-wired into these people.

    9. Oh and it's the timing as well...I wouldn't be surprised to see that Tessa is perhaps at the Toronto Film Festival and oh by the way Scott is playing golf..I am just surprised that they didn't hire Scott's friends to film the documentary as well since they do such a great job capturing his personal life. And seriously if you go golfing - at least wear a pair of runners - but let me guess, the girlfriends were driving the golf cart in their flops taking in the sun...cuz we all go golfing barefoot?

From this page you can click on the link to the brochure for this particular tournament. Teams signed up by foursomes. It looks like Scott has been participating in all sorts of local events as an official "couple" with Cassandra Hilborn (this tournament, the Colour Run, weddings all summer long, etc.)

      The asshole knows no limits.

    11. At this point, I should know better than to fall for crap that they put out, but I am really starting to wonder if there are problems within V/M's marriage. I've probably mentioned this before, but they married young and had a child young. Maybe Scott regrets it now and is grazing in other pastures.

    12. Anon at 1:38 pm - Well at least Scott is supporting a golf tournament that supports the Ilderton Skating club. But seriously, I'm all for supporting your local community etc but when it appears that your friends are using you for their amusement - yeah perhaps its time to move on...

Lol. It's so amazingly convenient Scott and Cassandra are inevitably accompanied by someone who can't wait to post photos on their PUBLIC account. What's in a relationship if it can't be on public social media? In Scott's case - ZERO.

    16. I know I definitely have a warm and fuzzy feeling. It's so true, 2:21, how we couldn't possibly see any real photos from the Scott and Tessa tournament but get Scott out there with Cassandra and bam! I think we have more pictures of Scott and Cassandra this summer than of Scott and Tessa and that's just sad on so many levels. What a nice gift of thanks for the fans.

And still Pj continues to see nothing wrong with this. Poor Scott is just a victim of people uploading private pictures of himself without his knowledge or consent. Scott. :( What a tough life.

      Delete
    17. Does PJ say this is his personal life?

    18. As far as photos of Scott and Tessa, the only time Scott and Tessa publish photos of their public appearances is if they don't publish, the event or sponsor publishes. Ilderton of course isn't going to show us anything - look at that load of nothing from the golf tournament. Is it possessiveness or are they trying to make sure the commodity's value isn't depreciated? They certainly have a high opinion of the value, that is beyond any doubt. Scott and Tessa have the reality show coming up and if they continue like this supposedly that will create demand?

They really are such shits with this. It's so unnecessary.

      Delete
    19. Yes, that is essentially what PJ says.

@skatingpj IOW - you know this is him in his private life, and somebody just happened to post it like happens with all of us
