Old School

At :33 there's an old school VM move - not spectacularly at blade level a la Carmen, but in the spirit of the original Goose pivot off Scott's knee, and the closing move of the 2010 od before 20 minutes prior to its presentation at Worlds, somebody decided it might be illegal.

Are Scott and Tessa going to hear through the grapevine that :33 is a throw? Nope. Canada got what it wanted out of 2014 - a World Champion out of Gadbois, and then last season VM "legitimized" the deal, in effect co-signing their own screw job.

  2. I think you're forgetting how thoroughly Scott and Tessa were punished for Carmen by the ISU. All indications are that they are back to pushing forward a bit more this season, which means they have permission to do so. It's been clear for ages that the ISU wants as level a playing field as possible, and dislikes when any one team is leagues better than another. To the end of leveling the playing field, they assign high levels of difficulty to added features that actually make an element easier, or have no impact on the difficulty at all. That means P&C can get a level 4 for a "lift" in which Cizeron snow plows the length of the rink while Gabriella kneels on his chest and waves her arms around. Whatever is going on with VM's choreography, remember they would not be back in competition if a) they weren't given assurances that they'd be permitted to win; b) they weren't agreeing to skate basically the same basic content as everybody else, while relying on superior execution to win. This takes away their base value and allows others to win if VM make a mistake.
