Come to London for Worlds 2013 and spend quality time with Scott and Tessa's parents!

If this doesn't drum up support for London businesses in advance of Worlds 2013, then I don't know what it's gonna take.
Lifelong Londoners Tessa and Scott were sent to London to drum up interest in Worlds 2013 and give the local business community a boost (just in case that light show doesn't trigger $38 million in spin-offs, best to have a couple of well-known, popular home grown heroes talk up the best things about their town). What London is looking for here are some good plugs for all the city has to offer - places to go, things to do, sights to see, exciting parts of town, worthwhile things to do with your weekend spending money as long as you're there to watch the competition.

This light show isn't going to pay for itself, earmarked $$ or no. The idea is that Worlds leaves London with a profit, not in the hole. Who better to tell us about the great things London has to offer than Tessa and Scott.

First thing, Tessa and Scott allow as how there is no more knowledgeable or supportive skating crowd than Londoners for figure skaters competing there.

Then they said their favorite thing about London was the chance to spend quality time with their parents. The businesses in downtown London must have been overjoyed.

Tessa did toss in that she likes to get breakfast at The Bag Lady, and Scott plugged his uncles' restaurant, Shoeless Joe's. That was generous of him as Shoeless Joe's hardly ever gets plugged on Moir facebooks.

That can't be it. What other restaurants, sights and great places to visit did they mention? Oh - they both train at Maria Mountain Revolution Fitness and spend so much time there THAT's their hang-out.

So. All you people considering visiting London for Worlds 2013 and giving local business a boost, some great suggestions from Scott and Tessa:
1) Figure skate in front of London's knowledgeable skating audience!
2) Hang out at Maria Mountain Fitness. Drop-ins welcome!
3) Spend quality time with Scott and Tessa's parents!
4) Eat at Shoeless Joe's, owned and operated by Scott's family!

5) Get some coffee at The Bag Lady
Tessa and Scott, London thanks you.*

  1. They forgot to mention the mall, that place where they like to make sure they're never seen walking together. Lol

  2. The mall? London has a mall?

pshaw. Why would they mention that in a visit whose purpose was touting London businesses?

  3. To be fair, it sounds like they should have been warned ahead of time that they needed to be ready to list some businesses. Tessa and Scott are rehearsed for questions about themselves ("We like to spend time with friends and family"), not lead questions on behalf of drumming up money for a city. Now that they've done this first round, I'm betting they won't be caught unprepared again.

  4. Thanks for the laugh, Oycanada. :D That list is hilarious. I'm going to guess that they really weren't prepared for that question. It also seemed that Tessa wasn't policing her use of "we" and "us" as strictly as she often does.

  5. Debbi Wilkes was present, showcasing her business development skills. I wonder why she didn't prep Scott and Tessa.

Well, who knew they would be asked about the city and not to describe their relationship.

      Lol

    2. The poor guy interviewing them kept saying, essentially "and what other places, such as ....?" and Scott and Tessa kept reacting as if he wanted them to tell him more about themselves. NO. He wanted them to wake up and tell him more about freaking LONDON. This is Exhibit 1 of why SC sucks at promotion. You're supposed to talk about how wonderful the thing you're promoting is, not about yourself. That's also the easy way to do public outreach - fans are hearing from you, spending time with you, but the focus is something else. How hard is that!

    3. This attitude of SC's doesn't bode well for this upcoming VM documentary, if it's driven by SC.
Are they still going to be essentially trying to sell a personal (fabricated) "personal story" or will it really be about the skating? Even VM's book didn't have enough about the skating itself as I would have liked.

I really can't blame Scott and Tessa for not being prepared to promote London and London businesses. They've been trained for a lifetime to answer questions a certain way. If SC didn't prep them differently - what did they expect?

These kinds of incidents make me hope that Team VM will get a clue and take control of their PR and PR preparations (hire a competent manager!!) instead of leaving it up to SC.

  6. Well, with the "sweat and TEARS" part, one wonders if this is going to be a melodramatic bid for sympathy of some type. They milked the hell out of the shins, that's for sure. Yes, it was a miserable and scary condition and the fact that Tessa competed through it shows how tough she is - at the same time, they re-purposed the shins to cover a whole lot of other stuff that was going on that they wanted to hide. The Shin Rift. The Shin Haitus (2010-2011).

It remains mystifying why they don't get competent management. But if they're committed to the path they're on until Sochi, then I don't see reputable management or sponsors taking them on other than for a one-off. The veil is in shreds here and there's always supposed to be one between your shenanagins and making your corporate or business partners complicit in them.

I imagine the movie will show and not tell - i.e., we'll see Jessica around but there will be family buffers on both sides so that years down the line new viewers of this "documentary" will not automatically assume "girlfriend", while present-day fans are meant to conclude "still the girlfriend."

I don't care how many buffers they think justifies Jessica's being around at all. It's disgusting.

    2. Ugh, Jessica. She's giving Sebastien the total cold shoulder in the recent pictures from the Worlds banquet. It's also interesting that they were scheduled to skate at some event on Saturday and someone posted on Sebastien's FB wall to say that they appreciated his solo. Was Jessica even there?? I wonder how that partnership will fare next season.

  7. I'm also thinking how that pompous clown, William Thompson, deigns to tell London how to do business, I think implies he knows what's good for their tax base, and he's awfully keen on that light show, and then his Director of Business Development escorts SC's stars to London to show those rubes at the Chamber of Commerce how it's done - was that the idea? Tessa and Scott had to stammer to cough up any businesses to promote. Earth to Debbi.

I don't think SC knows how this shit is supposed to work. Most business enterprises are reciprocal. One party does this in exchange for that. Thompson's idea seems to be "you do shit for us, and we notice you at our convenience. Which we don't have to do at all."

  8. They like going home to spend time with their parents?
Wait, didn't Tessa recently say she lives with Mom in Michigan?
    *rolleyes*

Oh look, a contradiction of information from VM. I'm so surprised.

    1. Doesn't her Dad still live in London? Is she not allowed to go to visit him?

    2. By "contradiction" I think what was meant is that when a person says they're visiting their parents (plural) it therefore means that none of the parents is living somewhere else, much less with the adult child who is "visiting the parents."

    3. "adult child" hit the nail on the head for Tess, Jess, and Scotty... all of them act like babies in some respect. They all need to grow the fuck up.

      Delete
    4. First they would need to want to grow up. Things are so comfortable the way they are, with everyone around them enabling and patting them on the back. Where's any incentive to grow up?

  9. What do you think of Scott's profile pic change? Are they slowly walking away from the sham? Looks like a bunch of people made profile pic changes on Monday.....

    1. Going by the past, my guess is that both Scott and Jessica are preparing to simultaneously post couple-photos from Nice.

Frankly, I feel they've continued to go out of their way this past season to keep the sham alive and well.

    2. Huh. That's the first time in forever that he's changed his picture. Probably doesn't mean anything but maybe...just maybe...

    3. we can hope...

    4. This is quite shoking... I mean, why now?

    5. Well, they just had a lot of family in Nice, Jessica had (at the least) her brother in Nice, and SC likes to sneak its investment in this stuff out there, never mind that it's useless at this point. They need to be right.

I no longer think anything along these lines is groundwork. They have the documentary commitment, they can't shake it up now.

      Delete
    6. I couldn't believe they would go so far as to lie in a book that was touted as an official story-biography. It's really quite appalling to think they would now be allowing big fat lies about themselves in a documentary. Don't they have any shame?

As to the profile pictures. I agree it's probably nothing. In the last years, it's been predictable that at the end of the season they make a point of mentioning things like, "girlfriend," "separate" (whether vacations, destinations, lives, etc), and other in-your-face comments to make sure we get the message about their relationship status. So far it's happening again. Starting with the week of Worlds and an interview where Scott brings up the words, "my girlfriend," then having Traci ask a relationship question (like that wasn't scripted? Yeah right), and I just saw another article yesterday where it's about "separate" (in this case that they go to separate places on the weekends) and a relationship "like siblings."

Remember last year? We were informed Scott was going to his brother's wedding with his gf, but the beloved friend and skating partner wasn't invited (nor anyone from her family, who are all said to be "like family" with the Moir's) and in fact, she was going to a different continent, to make sure not to crash a Moir wedding. It was all so OTT ridiculous. IMO they've been giving out similar messages very recently here, so why do they bother playing around with profile pictures? Who knows.

    7. ^ That's also the article that said that Tessa went home to Windsor. Since when does she live there? How many places does this girl live?

      Delete
    8. "How many places does this girl live?"

As many places as necessary to get as far away as possible from that Scott Moir! Who wants to be around him off-ice, right? Not Tessa!!

      Hahahaha.

    9. "but the beloved friend and skating partner wasn't invited (nor anyone from her family, who are all said to be "like family" with the Moir's)"

And did anyone believe that Tessa (and family) wouldn't be attending Danny Moir's wedding? Don't they always say they're all "part of each others family"?
