Terms of Engagement

I don't know why I've become more squeamish with time instead of more jaded but I'm not listening to above referenced podcast. Scott is 33 years old. Late this summer (and this summer apparently is not as likely for his "wedding" as the following summer) he will be 34. He doesn't seem pressed.

His eldest will be going on eleven.

For about 14 years or so Scott and Tessa have had a cycle of fake relationships - Scott more than Tessa. But Scott is approaching his mid-thirties and Tessa is right behind him. Scott's been in a holding pattern with his latest ever since he announced she was a "fiancee'" in an incredibly plausible stunt executed in front of a hometown crowd all of whom knew he was lying.

When part of your image is small town Canadian and you are most emphatically - don't you ever think differently - absolutely the straightest guy for miles, you are gonna have to get yourself married. Scott's getting a little into the old maid, Waity Katy territory now (not that I thought Waity Katy ever made sense/was fair vis a vis Kate Middleton). Even his charming fiancee', a year or so his senior, has a first marriage under her belt, so at least she got her feet wet. As their home town Hall of Fame gambit illustrated, the time for contractual girlfriend relationships has past. I don't think he can be rotating different fake fiancees in and out of his social media as he did fake girlfriends so I'm curious where they think the drop dead line is and what's next. At some point while he's still on the fresher side of 35 he has to pull the trigger in one direction or the other. Those directions seem to be bluster on through with the fake or cut the shit. Naturally their every instinct would be Option 1, but I see pitfalls.

What I really want is the whole nine yards - fake wedding, fake marriage, and then fake kids. Although this prospect lines up perfectly with the characteristic Moir/Virtue level of taste, judgment and decency, I feel the logistics are tricky. Look at Scott buying himself an additional year and a half before he has to think about it.

The past few - more than a few - years have demonstrated we don't have to worry about the entertainment media, whose capacity for complicity is infinite.

Scott on what I think is a morning radio show. He's asked about his best Canadian memory and unleashes a classic Scott Moir verklempt:

Ah well I mean ... don't get me emotional here on a Friday morning. Umm, Tessa and I were so blessed to be able to represent this country and to and uh any time I can think about taking her hand and skating to center ice ... it's just - now that we've had a little bit of distance looking back we realize how fortunate we really were... my favorite memory will always be uh the flag in her hand and one of her hands in mine and my hand on her shoulder and walking into the opening ceremonies of 2018 and looking back and seeing our teammates and uh - much like this campaign, knowing what this campaign and Canada represents.*

Very sweet, though the promotional pivot at the end is so on the nose it looks too much like Scott really thought he did something. I wonder if Scott has hit the stage of his public life where he's imitating his greatest hits. Just turns it on. With the added embellishment in this instance of laying it on with the accent so thick he sounds like a refugee from Fargo. That's not even Canadian..

*I'm not good visualizing three dimensions while reading in two. But Scott's holding hands with Tessa and another one of his hands is on her shoulder seems awkward.

P.S. rather than tacking on another comment just putting this P.S.

The Moirs are parochial and have a high opinion of themselves. Who you are is shown in action and the tactics during Scott and Tessa's decade and a half of lies have shown a malicious, mocking and self-satisfied stripe. There's now a Gadbois outpost stocked with Moirs and a prospective Ilderton training center. Are these people going to leave themselves on the back foot at this time? "Yeah, we scammed, lied and mocked you! Go ahead and judge us!"

I don't expect the Gadbois outpost to last that long but while it does there is no way Scott and Tessa admit anything. They probably won't admit anything on a matter of principle, but definitely not while the Moirs are up-status-ing their training careers.

  1. What are the logistics now though? Are they really in "separate bubbles"? If so, won't all this kabuki theatre end up separating them in real life (maybe even it has)?

    ReplyDelete
  2. They're not in separate bubbles; they live together with their kids. A bubble issue in both their brains, though, though, I can't speak to and would not surprise me.

Logistics might not be quite the word. When Scott had fake girlfriends, the relationships were presented on social media with the help of their many enablers and initially, with the help of their Federation. It was easy. Jessica/Bryce were on the same competitive schedule as Scott/Tessa, everybody went way back together, the social media piece was easy. Cassandra Hilborn was a Londoner, glamorous enough for TV and to plausibly be a foil for the "Will Scott every notice Tessa is cute?" narrative of their "reality" show. Kaityn Lawes and Scott/Tessa were slated for a number of the same events during their alliance (and btw, check out Kaitlyn's social media with her actual boyfriend these days versus the Scott days and see what organic versus ridiculous looks like). So he was able to switch out to suit.

When he gets "married" and "starts a family" at some point he'd have to refer to his family, and family is kids. And he has to sustain that into infinity. He can't recast a new "spouse" and "new family" as new things land on his and Tessa's plate. Nor can he remain "engaged" indefinitely like one of those 1990s skating stars. Nor IMO can he remain unmarried indefinitely.

Isn't Jackie a couple of years older? They want to start a family but decided to skip getting married this past summer, are in no rush to get it done in the summer of 2021 either and 2022 looks more likely, as starting a family when your bride is 37 makes so much more sense than when she's 35.

I do wonder if Scott is maintaining his country boy/farm lad image so he doesn't have to present social media photoshoots while pretending to be out and about with his bride to be.

I think Tessa has gone down the wrong wrong road with her business masters. I am assuming she is acquiring this degree to help manage whatever businesses she and Scott are involved in - possibly the ice dance training center if it comes to be. I think she'd be high risk for a legitimate business (versus a soft partnership) to affiliate with.

  3. PS - a 3 year engagement for a retired ice dancer in his mid-thirties seems a bit extended.

Let's remember though that Scott and Tessa are very very very clever. We're like shooting fish in a barrel where they're concerned - it's very amusing. So it's worth keeping in mind Scott has set the bait before and they might have what they think is shock and awe planned for summer 2021, after setting is up with "more like 2022". You'd think they'd have grown out of these tactics by now but history tells us they just get worse and up the ante.

  4. This is current skating related. As of now, worlds is still on for end of March in Sweden. The ISU is still planning to use it as the qualifier. While it looks like other top teams will be there if it does happen, PC announced they will not be going, Do you think there will be consequences for this or will they just slide back in next season?

    1. From what I heard their teammates were extremely disheartened by the decision as it likely means only one Olympic spot and shuts out the teams who will be going to worlds to earn the spot. Some of those teams have had a very rough time including severe illness and losing family members. PC have been open about the fact that they don't feel motivated and haven't trained properly, while their training mates have been able to do so. It's quite the risk for PC considering their last event was a loss.

      Delete
    2. Without question PC have been assured they'll be named to the team despite missing Worlds. IMO their teammates should skate Worlds ignoring it because despite what is planned now I don't think it's a guarantee PC will either compete in 2022, or, if they do, be able to execute their specialty, which is skating unbothered and relaxed no matter what's going on with their feet.

      Delete
    3. No question they're guaranteed a spot but the question is are they guaranteed an OGM? They managed to just barely lose a guaranteed OGM last time. This opens the door a sliver for HD or SK.

      Delete
    4. I don't think they'll win the OGM. While Pyeongchang had the right result for the top of the podium, PC's scores were an abomination - I mean they had higher scores than VM in the free. It looks to me as if in 2016-2017 VM were led to believe as long as they trained at Gadbois they wouldn't be robbed of the gold medal in Pyeonchang, and being allowed to defeat PC at various competitions seemed to verify. Then it looks like the ISU tried to pull a fast one but PC's wardrobe malfunction and the attendant uproar, plus VM's customary spectacular execution made it impossible. Am certain it was planned though.

They'll have been out of training a year and when they return they'll deliver another one of their wafty generic lyrical arm waving emo jobs, and I don't see the sport being able to pull it off. I think chances are strong S&K will win. The sport may think the gold medals have been with N.A. long enough.

I'm not feeling it is not a great rationale but for PC that's where I am. They'll go out with a whimper not a triumph.

      Delete
    5. PS also wonder if they don't wish to retire and are under pressure to stay in. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided not to compete in 2022 either.

Not that narratives can't change to support whatever agenda skating has going on, but there is a tendency to praise hard work. It was a constant in the D/W narrative about what hard workers they were. I have no doubt they did work hard, it just didn't result in turning whatever it was they were doing on ice into actual skating. I have a suspicion that PC not training this year is not going to play well behind the scenes. Also, they missed a year of training before the Olympics. The crap teams have to be able to do enough to fake it so the judges can pull them over the line, and missing a year of training isn't going to help.

I could see the judges being over the ice dance OGM going to North America and SK are a good team. However, they both caught Covid at Rostelecom and have had a slow recovery. Sinitsina was diagnosed as having a lung lesion as a result of being sick. Their fate is going to rest a lot on how she recovers. They look iffy to be ready for worlds at the rate things are going now.

I'm not sure if you have seen this, but Carreira/Ponomarkenko have left Igor. They have not announced who their new coach will be, but given they are trying to get Christina's citizenship through, it seems like they will need to stay in the US and I can really think of only one logical option--Marina. Her only other top team at the moment is Tarasova Morozov in pairs.

The link isn't working right now, but I.AM (Gadbois) will be opening an Ontario campus with Scott as the head coach. The regular cast of Moirville will also be involved. There is a tumblr with screenshots. https://virtchandmoir.tumblr.com/post/642035897765937152

    8. Thank you. I'll take a look at the links and dear God with the Moirville/Gadbois outpost in Ontario.

Did not know about Sinitsina. The poor woman.

Marina. Never has someone been so punished for success. The had to get political to deprive her of where her teams belong. And Michigan in general as well. The "epicenter of ice dance dominance" artiles in the 10's must have gotten a lot of less talented coaches pissed off.

The audacity of being from the Russian system and coaching US and Canadian teams to the top. Well, American and Canadian born coaches may not be as good but it can be arranged that if you don't train with them you won't have a prayer of getting gold.

Were the Karolyis similarly thrown under the bus in gymnastics during their heyday (they're Hungarian but still - wrong side of the iron curtain).

I agree about praising the appearance of hard work, even if what DW worked hard at was skating their athletic exhibition on the flats of their blades (or shallow rocky edges) programs clean and making sure their stunts had seventeen points of redundancy each.

COVID may give a the skaters an out from the we work our asses off you go girl/boy narrative. Papadakis Cizeron are sensitive and emotional. She's Greek, he's French. Times are hard. If a team has been fortunate enough to train hard for two solid years it's because they haven't gotten Covid and we don't want to penalize those who have or those who struggled to adapt to a challenging era.

    10. Off-topic, sorry, but can't help adding a little note here: the Karolyis are Hungarian like Ocazio-Cortez is Porto-Rican. Of course, she is American (of Portorican origines), and they are Romanian (of Hungarian origins). Born, educated, raised to fame in Romania, as the trainers of Nadia Comaneci.

  6. I don't think they'll go ahead with a fake wedding. It would make things awkward for Jackie's real love life. Maybe she'll want to get married again, in the future. Then they'll need a fake divorce. It's too complicated.

    1. I assume Scott will eventually drop something about an ex fiancee and a bad breakup. Corona has extended the life of this sham because they can keep saying it was postponed.

If he wants to gracefully bow out while still keeping up the sham then in a couple years he can meet a "life partner" and it's "serious" but she "doesn't want to be in the spotlight" and "doesn't care about a piece of paper." All the usual suspects will be on the boards sharing what they "saw" and "heard." It'll be easy once Scott starts coaching and going to competitions.

      Delete
    2. I don't think it would make it awkward for Jackie's real love life. Remember none of this is secret; it's just not acknowledged publicly. She wouldn't have to sneak around. Just keep it off social media - that's it.

      Delete
    3. I don't think Scott's community would tolerate the life partner and just a piece of paper. And no kids? They have gay panic for miles, as the reality show embarrassingly showcased.

He has given signs of at least being culturally religious (Catholic I think but will look it up another time) and his family appears to be culturally conservative - weddings and babies, and while young. And Scott indeed has lived his life that way - married very young and started his family (meaning got pregnant) less than a year later.

It might be a good way out for some but not a tolerable fit for them.

You know, back when they were pregnant the first time and I knew about it I am not the only one who thought the jig was up and they were gonna have to come clean. How can you hide a pregnancy? What about the impact on the competitive schedule?

Turns out you don't have to hide a pregnancy, you just use photoshop and filters for public consumption, and the media will snicker along with you at what you're getting away with. The media includes the broadcast talent in their own sport. So it looked as if they were "cornered" but they weren't.

After Sochi when they kept it up I thought they were just chickenshit but turns out they had Pyeongchang plans. They didn't officially retire until two years later - buying themselves more time. Retirement is when they might have logically owned up. But nope, they went the other way, to quote Harry met Sally.

I kind of think the sanctimony and pick-me-ness of some of Tessa's social media is a problem too. She's always banging on about authenticity, she even chastised people who smelled something fishy in the Mascarin/Moir alliance - which took a hell of a lot of arrogance on her part since baiting the public was what that stunt was all about. The smirking! The malice!

Just from the bits and pieces she's said about privacy, fame, etc. she's full of garbage and constantly uses fallacious arguments to make herself right and to virtue signal (haha) vis a vis the public. If she'd stayed off the tasteful soap box it might be easier for her to come clean but it's gonna be a bitter pill if/when it happens. It's sad that a woman who has such incredible courage as a competitor is so cowardly about saving face, keeping the upper hand.

  7. Interesting that he mentioned in the interview today, how miserable Jackie is and missing her friends in Florida. Odds are we get a breakup that isn't anyone fault, they still love each other but want different things. I say they are done by summer.

I also think it is interesting that in one of Tessa's latest interviews she thinks she would be a much better coach with Scott by her side. This all feels like a set-up.

    1. Also during the interview, Scott kept referring to talking with Tessa recently -- getting fans excited -- then Tessa showed up in the chat -- getting the fans stirred up -- and then, after the formal announcement, posted an Instagram story showing she had an hour and a half long call with Scott. Probably getting fans excited some more, except there's no comment thread on stories. It does feel like......something, but maybe it's all just the usual chum to keep fans engaged.

      Delete
    2. Does Scott refer to Jackie as "Jackie" or "My fiancee'?"

Tessa and Scott have set people up for the "psych" many times before. It's never been a good surprise. It's always been a "Oh fuck you both." surprise. Remember them batting their eyelashes at the computer video in 2012, talking about how they were going to go all over Paris visiting the Funny Face locations? Now granted, they never said, "We're going to go TOGETHER." They just said "We're going to go" and we of course are the stupid ones for taking it wrong. The blog called it out ahead of time, so they never got to do their sting until a year later a photo of Scott taking a picture of Jessica in the main courtyard of the Louvre surfaced, Jessica in God help us a striped jersey and beret. Scott's phone wasn't even aimed towards her.

They trying too hard so I wouldn't expect anything good. They can't stand it when fans aren't abuzz about them.

My impression is that currently, their core fandom comes from 2018, not 2010. 2010's most fervent fans have either grown up and gotten wise or moved on at this point.

    3. Never mind I heard "My fiancee Jackie" so ok. I had more to say but the comment was lost somehow. I'm sure I'll have another opportunity.

    4. P.S. - Ohhh, I Am.

Talk about your pound of flesh. Have other families extracted this from their elite level athletes family members they've supported? The entire family is in one sport but only one (or a pair) went to the Olympics, and the Olympic level person/team can't enlarge their scope after the elite career is done. They have to go home and make it up to them the rest of their lives - lift the whole ship. This isn't about training the next generation of elite ice dancers. It's about elevating the status of the Moirs.

Or is Moirville all they have - full circle?

      Delete
    5. Now they need to come clean. If the truth comes out while Scott is working for IAM, he's going to drag them down with him. I don't think he wants that to happen.

      Delete
    6. I'm of two minds about the IAM coaching roster. The first is Scott does "owe" his family and this is the result. It also means if they come clean it'll tarnish his family so of course they can't come clean - a long line of reasons they proactively assembled to avoid coming clean. They always set up something.

The second idea is the IAM coaching roster is what he's left with because other people have had it. They're not going to out VM, but they're not getting in bed with them either. Ergo, the Moirs - a bunch of regional skating coaches and synchro alumni - stepped up.

A third reason is more tangential. Virtue and Moir have shown themselves as two people of complete expedience. They will ghost you like you never did shit for them if it suits a current narrative, no matter how they hyped you when it suited their narrative. That could be another reason they are kept at arm's length, although I think the sham at this point is plenty.

    7. PS - a long time ago I remember reading some entertaining remarks from Brian Boitano. Long before the 1988 Olympics he was "next." The pressure was intense. He expressed how grateful he was that when he came home from training, his mother (I can't remember if a dad was involved - just my memory) never obsessed about how it went. He could breathe at home without being debriefed. I don't think any parent financially supports their kid through elite training (despite the sponsors and other help that comes with a certain level of success) without being invested emotionally, but Boitano's mother saw his skating as Brian's skating, not HER skating career. He appreciated it no end.

Read this a long time ago but he tried to apply the sanity to training as well. He said he didn't want to stand center ice and think, "Here it comes - I gave up sugar for 5 years for this."

The Moirs strike me as not the breathing room sort of family. In fact, their story is their presence was a refuge for "the kids" so it was necessary they be around every single step, in full force. I also remember when Worlds was in London and Scott and Tessa were tasked with hyping London for the event. One interview went miserably, it was so narcissistic with Scott/Tessa apparently not being briefed that the interview was meant to hype London, Ontario, not dodge questions about themselves. The second go round was 50% better with Tessa doing a stellar job hyping a favorite local London cafe/small restaurant. Scott hyped his uncles'/cousins' business, Shoeless Joes, and looked as if he'd rather be dead. The assorted Moirs (save his Uncle Paul) behaved like a bunch of bratty kids forced to do something so decided to mock it. It was all shifty and immature. They were grown ass. Not sure they've evolved since then.

    8. Marie France and Patch hired Scott. They would be taken down too, if the truth came out. They have done so much for both Tessa and Scott. I can't see Scott letting them down.

    9. It's always something. They look for reasons to - don't know if stall is the word after 13-15 years - but IMO actually create reasons. SO many people close to them thought once Vancouver was over and they were pregnant it was only a matter of time (I mean people genuinely close to them), but they decided to bull their way through and that was the end. Ten + years was written right then.

Ok, they couldn't do it cause they were doing Sochi - same reasons as they can't do it cause of Vancouver - intrusion on their family, violation of privacy and the Olympic spotlight was pressure enough. I don't think I grasped at the time how bullshit that was. They hyped their own fame. They wanted it both ways and thought that was noble. We need to make money off our chemistry and our fame, this is how we do it.

Well, no. It's not how you do it. You make choices and every choice has a price. They didn't think they should have to pay a price - let's say sacrifice what they maintained were the rewards of capitalizing on their chemistry and intrigue, nor did they want to sacrifice their privacy. In reality they didn't need to sacrifice either one, it was all bullshit. They weren't that famous, and they were perfectly in control of both sides of it. The bottom line is they didn't want to lose face and still don't. Every other excuse is made up. Oh we're going to Sochi. Oops we're going to Pyeongchang. Well, sayeth Scott, maybe once we're out of the sport we can be more candid about our lives. But geez, we'll drag our feet two years before confirming we're out of the sport.

Look at that, went the other way! I'm engaged! Now I'm opening a coaching center with Marie France/Patrice and my family - can't let them down!

It's endless. They'll find the reasons. The reasons are never the reasons though. The actual reason is not wanting to lose the upper hand.

    10. Years ago, I made an observation that Moirville viewed VM has Tessa and Scott Incorporated. Moirville were the investors and they wanted dividends. They were never content to remain in the shadows as so many families are.

I am half expecting that we will soon learn of a previously unknown “niece” who is a 10-year-old prodigy being coached by the family. (My more whimsical theory is Scott wanted a skating school at home to keep her at home because of how fast VM’s relationship moved when they went off to train by themselves at a young age.)

      Delete
    11. Oh look, a little novice skater who looks so much like Tessa Virtue. It's uncanny!

We'll be fed a story about how her nameless parents heard all the time she looked like Tessa, and so did the little girl. The little girl watched VM on youtube and became obsessed with Tessa. So when it was clear she was ready for elite training it just made sense to bring her to Gadbois. Maybe they'll use McCormick as her last name.

      VM Incorporated - too right.

The con the Moirs and the Virtues have been pulling on skating fans has ensured that VM will always be "theirs." They'll always be in-house.

It's one thing to "protect" a couple of teens/twenty years olds newly in the spotlight who wanted to draw a veil over just how young they were when they got together. But why they couldn't just make something up beats me. That's what they do with everything else.

It's another when you've got a couple of increasingly arrogant, sanctimonious gaslighting, virtue signaling and smarter-than-thou bullshit - artists isn't quite the word, let's say practitioners - in their early/mid-thirties who are keeping up their teen-age scam because they lack the balls to deal with the mess they made and take whatever hits they have coming. They reverse engineer constantly - more people become complicit and then they can't come clean cause it would tarnish those people.

Remember how before and after Vancouver VM tried to say Tessa's mother moved with her to Kitchener? This after a million contemporaneous interviews where it was confirmed they were each living with host families at the time. Since they were already lying about not being together why the hell was "Mom moved with me to Kitchener" even necessary? According to them there was no relationship and that being the case nobody was going to do the math as to when they first hooked up, cause according to their official story, they never did. Lying is just default to them.

      Delete
    12. One more remark about VM Incorporated.

I doubt Marie France and Patrice "hired them". This is a partnership. Who is providing the seed money to set up this adjunct training center and taking a whole bunch of Moirs on board? Don't think it's Marie France and Patrice. Perhaps others are kicking in but you know who I think is doing most of the kicking in and paying those cousin salaries or however the compensation is set up? Virtue and Moir.

Kara Moir has a skating store "Moir's Skate Shop". At least she promotes it and is the face of it. Where did the seed money for that come from? I don't think it's a mystery who set her up.

Same with the proposed elite Ilderton training center, and good luck with that. You hear how Scott is talking about being a "contributing member of his family?" Seems to me his family's message to him and Tessa was they sacrificed and sacrificed but that's how Moirs do, and they knew Scott and Tessa were grateful. Who is providing the start up money for the Elite Ilderton skating center. Is this where Scott is setting up shop as a high level coach or is this where he launches it and once it's running turns it over to the Moirs as the main coaches?

I mean, it's just gratitude. And keeping everything in the family.

  8. If they are smart they will get rid of their fake relationships and say they are together. They don't have to say when it happened or anything else.

  9. i think at this point something has happened and they have actually separated (read divorced) though i don't know where the kids would go, it seems extremely difficult and untenable in this covid situation for them to continue with the lies and the charade. or if they are still together then they will never ever come clean. it isn't the skating fans that are the thing giving them pause i think. it is that they have taken it too far, they carried the flag for canada at the PYG ceremony. Now it is the world (not that they are that famous but in scandal they will be because Ellen, the prime minister and all of canada who believed them would be humiliated). it is too late. If they are still together then they better hope their kids dont get into skating because as parents they would deny the child but no child will deny the parents. i do not for one second believe that two young kids (as they were when they started to win big) could have come up with this scenario. by the time they had their own minds, it was too late to come clean and the pressure was way too high on them from all around their community, family and skating peeps at Skate canada. when Tessa was skating so many seasons in pain, the last thing she would have wanted was to keep up a charade. she seems to have immense courage and somehow character (since everyone mentions how kind she is and being fake is not sustainable long term when you have so many other pressures). they are indebted to whom i don't know but there is something for sure there. they couldn't get out even if they wanted to

    1. They have not separated.

It's social media giving them pause. If this were a pre-social media era - and back when they started it was mostly facebook - they'd be in better shape. The way they have gaslighted the fans with every report on them claiming fans are hyper obsessed, using straw men to discredit fans, etc. etc., they will get hung out to dry not just by the public but who knows who else (in skating, in their community) will chime in. And what will that do to their marketability? What will that do to Scott's coaching, to Tessa's influencer career.

I don't believe in a conspiracy theory about why they can't come out. When they started it was common practice for skating pairs who were romantically involved to deny it, and then they'd marry once they were out of the sport. This sham appears to have been some Rube Goldberg contraption invented by Skate Canada, the Moirs, etc. The fact that every time a window opened to cut the shit and come clean they doubled down themselves goes strictly to arrogance. Look at the style of the Moirs. The malice, the stings, the meanness, the mockery, the engagement stunt and the smug behind it. These are not people who could BEAR to eat crow and lose face.

They set it UP like this. They set it up so that the consequences would be too large if they came clean. There was no need to do a reality show. No need for Scott to "get engaged." This is reverse engineering, deliberately upping the consequences of a reveal so they have a reason not to do a reveal.

I completely disagree that Tessa would want to come clean. I think she would die a thousand deaths rather than have to deal with that. She has immense courage as an athlete and I'm sorry is a complete coward in this other venue. I could analyze it as Taurus stubborness or whatever, but she decided she was right a long time ago and is absolutely dug in, and she doubles down like nobody's business.

If they are busted it will be a social media event and not come from them.

I think this is down to personal cowardice and a superiority complex that absolutely revolts at the thought of humbling themselves in front of a demographic they have mocked and manipulated for years. This blog is just a tiny part of it but I'm familiar with what has been referenced in the press - the blog has an OTT ET extraterrestial type theory that Scott and Tessa are "Secretly" married and "secretly" have babies and have been cloak and daggering it throughout their skating career. That's a deliberate straw man and misrepresentation of what this blog says in order to dismiss it. It's how the media protects itself and how Scott/Tessa protect themselves.

The scandal will be limited because IMO the media doesn't track timelines or go back that far. There will be no timelining what actually happened and the entire sequence of lies going back forever. No mention of the book, no mention of the phony "rift" during her surgery. Maybe mention of his engagement. The reality show won't be mentioned. It will be a social media firestorm if it happens, with fans and locals airing it out, but the media trying to limit its comment.

Do you really think Ellen believed them? The Prime Minister? All of Canada? This is the biggest open secret in Canada.

Complicit is the media (Ryan Pyette of the London Free Press is obviously on their payroll and shows up every year or two to plant the seeds of their next narrative), Skate Canade, all of the Moirs and most of ice dance.

    2. I know they are still married. It's easier for them to fake being apart now because of the pandemic. Tessa is courageous and she is kind. Many people say wonderful things about her. I think reason for the charade is more a mental illness. They have made into such a big fear in their own minds, and in reality it's not such a big deal.

      Delete
    3. Well, I'm not going to push back too hard on the mental illness piece of it but I do think the Moirs play a huge part and are toxic as hell while claiming to be salt of the earth. I've seen how they're described while also seeing how they behave and there's a disconnect.

Tessa is a nice person and a good person one on one but does not put her principles in action beyond the personal. As I said before her alliance and promotion of a person like Jessica Mulroney doesn't reflect well on her. She and Scott pulled a massive piece of malicious bullshit with his engagement announcement at their Ilderton Hall of Fame ceremony. While I'm pretty sure the organizers knew what was coming it takes a special type of arrogance to spit on that honor and all of those who organized it in earnest because they'd rather hijack the occasion for a shock and awe "engagement" announcement PR blast. Letting that happen or deciding to do that is also a moral issue.

It's easier to be "moral" and kind one on one than it is to live according to your supposed values on a larger scale and to that extent both Tessa and Scott are a fail.

In my experience people evaluate someone else vis a vis how that person treats them personally. Tessa is very nice one on one. There are other ways to evaluate someone's integrity and she and Scott have none.

  10. wow scott just threw tessa under the bus there....he doesn't want to go after the bucks because he knows where his morals are? really?
i really dunno whats happened to these two. the guy is all over the place everytime he opens his mouth...the fiancee this...tessa that....the fiancee is so amazing...tessa is so amazing.
what in the hell? the rabid tumblr folks are all over tessa because she is shilling for the money. what kind of a guy is this who throws his partner of 22 years under a bus? if they are in fact married then that's even worse.
i will say though that in the grand scheme of fans, she is the one who gets the brunt of the hate yet i can never understand why.he does all sorts of dumb and stupid stuff yet the criticism is squarely on her shoulders. i don't know if Tessa also had difficulty in training in terms of bullying and low self esteem but she is the one who seems to get the short end of the stick. anything she will undertake in the future, even if it is saving the world, will fail in the eyes of the fans. he can do no wrong. what a horrible environment to be in.

    1. Tessa's active on social media, Scott isn't. That's a big part of it.

I also think it's because Tessa comes off more programmed than Scott, and because over time Scott has been the one throwing in cute hints (such as the time he mentioned she was a restless sleeper) while Tessa stays on script. And because Tessa's style is so pageant-like, and because of excessive virtue signaling on her insta (don't even know if she runs it herself).

Tessa is a self-described perfectionist which is one of the most dysfunctional things to be and I don't think it means what she thinks it means, but it extends to being in control, at least publicly.

Remember that nobody forced the reality show on Tessa - that was her narrative as much as Scott's narrative. The entire show was that Scott was a stud and Tessa's self-esteem was in the gutter, that Tessa was annoying and Scott's patience with her was often at the breaking point. On the reality show he patronized the shit out of her and everyone else. He got to do that cause Scott has a penis and uses it and women are just "chicks". Scott had not just his love life with Cassandra but was packing a couple of condoms to Sochi to pick up some side action and I guess Cassandra just had to deal with it.

Tessa was making smoothies alone at home. The Scott Good, Tessa Bad stems as much from Tessa's input as Scott's.

Just remember in that reality show people who knew the real deal were WTF-ing how far they'd go and how bad it would get and kind of dumb struck at how stupid it was AND how many lines it crossed. And how far would he go with Cassandra on camera? So IMO with all that, some of the misogyny was missed. People also missed that many scenarios presented in that show would never EVER happen in real life or be tolerated by people in authentic relationships. For example, the shooting and peeing on the farm segment. Cassandra's in a golf cart, just sitting there mute, not participating, barely getting any camera time. Scott and his buddies are riding A TVS and shooting whatever they're shooting and talking about Cassandra and Tessa as if they're both plants. Or property. Cassandra's right there! And one of Scott's "buddies" says he'd take up ice dance "If I could use your partner." Another was when Tessa was in some hottest athletes (not called exactly that but the pics were sexy/tasteful). Scott got a huge smirk on his face when asked and said a lot of his buddies were texting him after seeing the pics. None of that made sense for a platonic partnership or for a guy who had a girlfriend who was not his partner.

That show would get an F on any Bechdel test.

Something like a powerful golf swing (that Tessa mentioned she has) is something to be abashed about and maybe think about modifying. Also don't forget in the reality show they were sucky ice dancers who would be lucky to outscore Weaver & Poje. This was THEIR script, both of them. Scott later nearly disowned the reality show saying he felt sorry for people who watched it (not to pat the blog's back but the blog and a gazillion participants in the comments had a blast taking this sexist, misogynist, homophobic, patronizing piece of swill apart and I'm sorry I think it hit). Tessa doubled down continuing to hype it on twitter.

During the reality show and somewhat since I got the feeling Tessa believes her image is of this beautiful, perfect ice dancer from a wealthy family and has unbelievable talent, so in order to be relatable she goes the other way which is a huge WTF to her fans. She should own who she is but instead she panders. And it's sexist. Guys don't do that.

    2. I don't think Scott is making the connection between Tessa shilling on instagram and his little comment about not going after the bucks cause of morals. As you say he's all over the map and it sounds good to him. Of course he IS going after the bucks - we have no idea WTF he's doing and you don't need to be on social media to make money. Tessa is his wife so her influencer bucks are his bucks. Sounds to me they are making lemons out of lemonade because some of their money making options are shut down thanks to this sham going on forever. They will always find new recruits to join them in this bullshit but the old ones have been falling by the wayside and I have a feeling their standing with their peers who came up with them in Skate Canada is less close than they promote.

Tessa also hung out with Jessica Mulroney who is a disgusting person in the process of painting herself as the victim of her attacks on a black influencer and who notoriously treats "people who don't count" as garbage. That suggests Tessa is myopic and if you kiss her ass she doesn't care how abusive you are to others.

    3. TL:DR - Scott and Tessa's own PR encourages people to be harder on Tessa than on Scott.

  11. From their point of view they must believe they have been successful in keeping their relationship hidden. All the fans on social media believe this nonsense that they have put out there. Even though many many of them have visited this blog they don't believe it because they cannot see it. It blows my mind how some of the tumblrs actually seriously spout the story that look at how good they would be together but its so sad that Scott left Tessa and went to the old skating partner. And how dare Tessa date a leaf and be so shallow.
I cannot understand the logic in still continuing with the charade, other than there is now no way to walk it back.
What is going to happen when the elder one gets social media? or has friends at school who love skating and get onto some "Virtuemoir" tag or whatever?
At this point they SHOULD actually separate and get on with their lives.
The unfortunate thing for me is that in their skating career they were the best. The fans (and the fan pool would be bigger) would eat up them actually talking about their skating, the step by step of it. Show videos of them training lifts, explain things, show what the actual skating process was like. That is what people want. It's right there for them, focus on that.
What is there to gain by continuing like this?
also is it true Tessa's father was involved with Skate canada or the ISC in a top position?

    1. aking your points one by one:

"I cannot understand the logic in still continuing with the charade, other than there is now no way to walk it back."

If you define "no way to walk it back" as saving face, pride, dealing with consequences (i.e., getting cancelled and screwing up sponsorships and other partnerships/alliances) - that is the bottom line. But I really think none of that is the bottom line. Everybody they've partnered with knows they're married. They all have deniability but again, this is no secret. Bottom line VM & Co. are arrogant and stubborn and lack courage. They don't want the tables turned. They don't want to buck their families, and they don't want to be called to account (the zillion times they've gaslighted their fans and done a bait and switch). They don't want to be vulnerable, on the back foot/defensive. For years they have been pulling the strings.

"What is going to happen when the elder one gets social media? or has friends at school who love skating and get onto some "Virtuemoir" tag or whatever?"

Beyond the obvious that she'll be given the family spin, I don't know. She'll have to buy into the reasons and for the rest of her growing up will have no choice but to abide by those reasons and it's not fair. She'll get the self-serving reasons- her parents were the obsessive focus of fanatical fans and to protect the integrity and privacy of the family this was how it had to be done. To buy into this means she'll have to buy into a myth that the public, not the celebrity, controls the perception of things. All VM need is to invest in a solid consult as to how to manage the reveal and how to react afterwards and it should be over. Yes, they would get their asses ripped to shreds on twitter but that would pass. Would fans remember? Probably. But if VM proceeded from there to act with integrity it would be written off as a bad chapter (ok, bad novel). They would not have to sell out their family lives or intimate lives. That's crap.

"At this point they SHOULD actually separate and get on with their lives."

Right? But this option isn't on the table for either, and even if it were the kids aren't going anywhere.

"The unfortunate thing for me is that in their skating career they were the best. The fans (and the fan pool would be bigger) would eat up them actually talking about their skating, the step by step of it. I agree. A lot of fans were hoping for this from the reality show - insanely hoping, IMO. My guess is this stuff too is classified info and the operating rule is fans get a bunch of massaged bullshit and the rest belongs to the Moir family.

"What is there to gain by continuing like this?"

Saving face. Not having the tables turn and people they feel contempt for having legit reasons to call them out. They are arrogant - well, they don't live in Massachusetts so Massholes doesn't suit, but you get the mentality.

"also is it true Tessa's father was involved with Skate canada or the ISC in a top position?" No idea. Never heard that. He's a litigation atty. He may be retired - not going to google now. The ones embedded with Skate Canada to their back teeth are the Moirs. Imagine the fix they found themselves in in 2014.

    2. One thing that really bugs with V/M is that they WERE so much better about this stuff for that tiny comeback window. We got lots of social media content with them from their off-ice trainers. Neither was engaged in an active sham. They just focused on skating and acting like humans. It was refreshing. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be bait for the Gadbois-era fans who hadn't seen what those of us from Vancouver or earlier had.

      Delete
    3. Agreed. They could have left it alone and let people think what they want.

They believe what people think about them is their business. It's not. I honestly think sometimes they're trying to police fans' thoughts. That the mentality is - if we do this, then the fans are going to think that. If we do that, then fans will think this. So we need to do the other thing.

Who the fuck CARES what fans think or suspect or where their minds trend? It's none of Virtue and Moir's business.

I'm referencing some old ground here but there have been times along the way that I'm like - how the hell did they miss that? Very early on, right after Vancouver, Scott and Tessa were at an appearance with other skaters, signing stuff to promote whatever skating/tour they were doing. A couple of students, young, showed up. A little abashed. Scott asked them if they were going to the show; they said no. He was like why not, and they stammered a bit that it was sold out. He said I don't think it's sold out, call them! They hemmed and hawed. That they couldn't afford tickets and were embarrassed to admit they wanted to meet Scott and Tessa anyway was plain as the nose on your face but I don't think it crossed Scott's mind.

He humiliated fans on the regular on his facebook. Again, this is a "nice guy" who performs niceness whenever he meets fans. One time on his facebook he asked for ideas for his new profile pic. Since he never interacted, fans were excited and so many fans very carefully shared their suggestions, making sure to keep a huge zone of privacy and not ask for behind the scenes with Tessa. But they did want a pic with Tessa - you know, the partner with whom he won a freaking gold medal but somehow was invisible on his facebook page where he hosted thousands of skating fans. After fans had made themselves vulnerable by revealing their suggestions and explanations, Scott threw up a picture of Audrey and Fred in Funny Face. The blog tore him apart and in this case he actually started putting some of the requested pictures up. But how did he let that debacle happen in the first place? By not thinking of other people. But lacking empathy. By being self-obsessed and only thinking strategically and not considering respect that is owed even to people behind a screen if they're acting in good faith. Just because they're behind a screen and doesn't mean it's open season on them.

They don't get it and I don't get why they don't get it.

  12. All it will take is one comment on twitter or instagram from a tumblr fan who believes everything they are selling and sees them out with the children.
The logic of saving face yet trying to portray yourself as caring and "giving bak" doesnt hold at all. You can twist and contort in your mind but it all boils down to hypocrisy.
Imagine taking the immense talent (I don't know when a couple will emerge as good as them) and throwing it all away like this. They could have been the face of true representatives of the sport in general, not just marginally recognisable in canada.

    1. True. However, remember there are plenty of fans who pretend they don't know but they know.

Scott lately is coming across as a self-parody. I didn't see it but did he really say he guessed he was too moral to chase the money? Jesus Christ stuff it Scott.

They always do too much. It's more than the straight up hypocrisy of pretending to be one thing while being another. It's HOW they pretend to be one thing. It's immature and tasteless stunts. That engagement announcement wasn't just obnoxious, there was something suffocating about it with his mommy in one chair his wife in the other and the latest stooge gf broadcasting resting bitch face in front of their hometown community.

Yeah, they're marginally recognizable in Canada. That's what researching outside the algorithm shows. When Scott got "engaged" and you googled him, you came up with a million hits about the engagement but all of them just churning out the talking points provided by their PR. It wasn't independent reporting and didn't reflect the level of real interest.

    2. Here's the article where it comes up. The quote is something: ttps://lfpress.com/sports/olympics/scott-moir-caught-the-coaching-bug-after-22-year-competitive-skating-career

“I gave up some money but at the same time I haven’t regretted it a day, a single minute. I believe in the morals that I do. I believe in the projects I take part in and I think that has been my north star. This coaching move is exciting and I get to help the kids and it’s really fulfillment that I’m after instead of the dollars and cents.”

      Delete
    3. PS - ok, I've clarified for myself why the Hall of Fame event was suffocating. It's the entitlement. This is an event meant to honor Scott and Tessa's skating career/putting Ilderton on the map. Those who attended were there for that reason. The Moirs felt completely entitled to hijack this event, its purpose, everybody's time, everybody's sincere interest and care, for one of their maliciously childish fan stings. Absolutely entitled. Don't think it crossed their minds to consider this wasn't the purpose of the event, this wasn't what the event organizers signed up for even if they all tug their forelock when the Moirs want something. Outrageous and complacent entitlement. And who are they? Including Scott and Tessa, they are no better than anyone else in that town.

Tessa: If I were to bet, Tessa has never read or seen the blog and has never read or seen a lot of stuff (that's not the blog) that might disrupt what she's already decided. IMO she makes a decision and then shuts down and takes no new information on board. That's part of the problem.

Adding to my comment above: they are making me do contortions in my own mind as well! like I recognise and acknowledge that they are the best skaters in a long long time, yet I hate everything they stand for and how they go about things. But i marvel at their skating, simply marvel at it. Then I look at Tessa, who was in pain for a long while and managed to win, and I am again in awe. Then she sprouts her rubbish and I just cannot wrap my head around the courage on the one hand and the cowardice and malice on the other. mental contortions I tell you

    1. No skaters in my recollection, maybe ever, have put together six perfect performances in three successive Olympics (well, seven as we still had cds in 2010). All of them merited gold - obviously in 2014 the fix was in. Their ability to crush it while skating full on at crunch time is astonishing. In pairs, G&G had one Olympics like that - 1988. The second Olympics they had a few flaws but clearly won as the silver medalists also skated with flaws but had a style that made a feature of them, and their elements were of lesser quality.

There are a number of Olympics where the winning skater or skating team rampaged through the event with untouchable performances in short and long but three Olympics in succession? Only Virtue Moir.

They're extraordinary. Their talent is once in several generations, and it's also miraculous to bring with it the psychological strength that makes them at their best when the stakes are highest.

I don't think it's unusual for personalities to be compartmentalized, for someone to be so wonderful at "A" and not be able to carry it across to area "B".

They're the best ever at what they do and no matter how diplomatic they pretend to be they know it.

Maneuvering through life off ice is where they are gutless. We could come up with plenty of theories from family dynamics to grandiosity / arrogance / entitlement to plain stupidity - but it's not our problem to sort really. You can theorize they're suffocated by the family's continued investment in their lives and expectation this will go on forever so they project it out onto the public instead and pretend if they don't wall off the public we'll get too up in their business. Maybe its that.

You know people have contradictions. I don't struggle with the fact that Scott and Tessa's exist. That, wow, Tessa and Scott are miracles as ice dancers from every angle we look at it and then look at how they exploit themselves, degrade their own story, and pull juvenile stunts on the public and feel confused. I do wonder where they get their twisted style of off ice play. The malice, the contempt, the audacity (still can't get over Tessa chastising fans for reacting inappropriately to her and Scott's lies). There's a million rationales. As competitors Scott once said he liked when things are difficult; he almost liked having an enemy, so maybe we are the enemy that makes life feel familiar at this point except come on, they're in their thirties you don't knee jerk your way through life. Round in circles, but the fact that contradictions themselves are there is not remarkable. I've also never noticed that people who are exceptional in a particular field are automatically great people.

    2. Your last sentence is bang on. From watching people on a screen and not be in their sphere it is extremely difficult to know what they are really like as people. Like you mentioned before Tessa is good and kind (apparently) on a personal one on one level. Though at the same time how can you deny the existence of your own children if you are good?
I have always been curious at the dynamic with Marina. What actually happened is anyone's guess but from the years and years of watching how she was with them on TV, the whole denouement was very strange. Every single time that I would see them, Marina was always focused on Tessa, not in the hard russian strict russian coach way but in a very gentle is she ok kind of way. Marina also has pull in that world and i cannot imagine that she let them get away with all the crap they talked about her. When I watched her in later years with the Shibutanis, I never saw that gentleness and pride. The dichotomy of the whole thing is very strange.
Why is she keeping silent? and will that last?

      Delete
    3. Marina came out of the Russian system and I think is a philosophical person. I think she's something of a student of psychology and what we see in the Kiss'N'Cry reflects what she thinks that personality needs from her, not how she feels about that person.

Tessa is apparently hyper critical of herself so if she makes a mistake, even one we don't see, Tessa would have seen it and so will have Marina so Marina will try to let Tessa let that go. And if she does great she'll let her know that. Tessa has spent a lot of time telling us she's more than a skater but she was an obsessed competitor. You don't go through three Olympics at the level she went through them and compete as she did without that being a fact. I think they very reluctantly bowed out for the next round. She says that's not who she is but that's who she is.

The Shibutanis are more stable. I have such respect for them in every way, but particularly what I've seen of their off-ice comportment and how they handle their social media. I respect how they stayed the course prior to their "Fix You" program when it appeared the sport was going to throw them under the bus. The remained with Marina their entire career and I feel that says something about Marina because I don't believe the Shibutanis would tolerate a dysfunctional training environment.

I think their relationship with her was more mature and they didn't parentalize her as much as perhaps Virtue and Moir. I thought how Virtue and Moir betrayed Marina post-Sochi was blood-curdling. They re-wrote history for expedience.

I don't know what Scott is doing at the moment with his honest farmer portrayal of himself but it's creepy when people sustaining a deception start broadcasting their integrity. They would justify what they're doing all day long but if they had to own it they'd crawl under a rock. Remember when they promoted the reality show under the prompting of their puppet, Ryan Pyette; their physical discomfort was cartoonish. If you're feeling that you know you're not right.

Finally, I speculate that the Moirs were resentful of Marina and VM's closeness to her, loyalty to her as a person, and enjoyment of her company (Scott particularly). She was a necessary evil on their eyes but also a threat. I think Marina bent over backwards for both families.

      Delete
    4. P.S. She's not going to rat them out and if it comes out and she's asked she'll frame it as their choice and their Federation and families' choice. When she was coaching G&G she experienced literal sabotage - not just political - it was a ruthless environment where competitors would try to the skates of their rivals in the locker rooms. And she had vicious rumors put out about her as all successful people did at the time. All of this might be nothing to her. Also think she's a happy person, which helps.

I don't think Marie France and Patrice are that good so I also wonder what the infrastructure is behind hyping the two of them. During Scott and Tessa's last cycle the Marie France Cam was OTT and obviously part of the PR. Marie France and Patrice clearly had nothing to do with VM's Olympic programs. That was all VM and whatever third eyes they employed.

Scott was gonna need a team and I think when his role with IAM was set up they already had this one in their back pocket. I'm not a huge Igor fan so my heart is hardly broken for him but there is obviously no point in podium aspirant ice dancers staying in Michigan.

  15. i really do think skate canada severely miscalculated the talent and success they would have...and therefore how long they would be in the game. when they were a couple of kids it was let's keep the relationship under wraps and keep the world guessing because the chemistry is so good. Then after they won the olympics in vancouver and got married, Tessa was pregnant fairly soon after. It then became for skate canada, their career is over so no need to address anything. they will come back and lose and fade away from the sport. That did not happen and by then it was too late to address the marriage and the baby without showing that everyone associated with them was complicit. Again after sochi it was ok phew they are gone butts saved for all. But wait crap, they are coming back and better than before. again a miscalculation....nobody realised the kind of popularity they would have, and so divide and distract seems to be what they have settled on. I really do believe it got away from these two. they are fully culpable yes but i don't think it started with them and i don't think that at this stage in their careers and lives they would still want to be obfuscating.
on another note, does anyone think Tessa will ever coach at the new academy? seems an awful waste of her talent and experience being the best female ice dancer and not participate. Though nobody can begrudge her her desire to do other things and the choice is of course fully hers.

    1. I agree that at this stage of their lives VM don't want to still be obfuscating, and I think your take on Skate Canada is correct. The issue here is neither do Virtue and Moir want to climb down and loss face. Neither does the Moir family. That IMO is the stalemate and so far saving face has won. How do you come clean, still be right? I think a few years ago they could have dumped it all on fans. Oh the stalking, oh the obsession! Oh we have a family to protect. Factor in non-Facebook social media, the reality show and the engagement and that bullshit doesn't wash. I've said this numerous times but they have a tail wagging the dog policy. They purposefully up the ante then it's - well, the ante is upped, more people are complicit, so we can't. It's not just us - it's the other people.

The IAM coaching is typical Get that set up without coming clean, everybody at that training center is complicit, and so are the teams they coach.

I think Tessa will coach at the new Academy - absolutely.

Desire to do other things - such crap on her part - always has been crap. Does she like fashion - yes. Is she getting an MBA in business and I won't even touch what I think may be the psychology behind that - yes.

This is a woman who has done what no other ice dancer in history has done.

The woman had at least (not keeping a head count after two) two children in the course of three Olympic cycles in a row while delivering gold medal performances in all three (they were given silver in 2014 but what was on the ice won gold).

Between the two of them SCOTT is less obsessed than Tessa about skating and competing. SCOTT is less of a skater to his bones.

    2. It's not true at all Scott is clearly more passionate about skating than Tessa

    3. Feb 16, 3:01, I don't know if this response is to me, but I don't know how to weigh who is more passionate about skating, and I may have overstated my comments above yours.

I agree it's not true at all Scott is more passionate than Tessa. You don't go to 3 straight Olympics with pregnancies in between without being obsessed. Tessa's whole, "I'm more than a skater!" rap is nothing but denial. I keep citing Gordeeva and while it may get old, she has never denied that a skater is who she is. Has it restricted her life? No. A few months ago on her instagram I saw she was taking lessons in oil painting. Why make a drama out of it? Own all of who you are.

  16. I agree with everything this blog says mostly....until post 2018.But i also agree with an anon above somewhere that they have separated. Something weird happened and continues to happen. The most glaring thing for me was a video thing Tessa did with Morgan and Max from the arkells during lockdown. This would a) be a difficult thing to put in place were they not already together in the same household, considering the number of restrictions in place and b) there was a certain intimacy between Tessa and Morgan which would be very difficult to fake considering she is not a good actress at all.
I don't know what happened but something strange did. I also come back to the video where Tessa and Scott were coming back from Korea and the camera followed them off the plane. Tessa interacted with everyone there, her mother, Cara and Joe but completely ignored Alma.
I believe completely that they were together, and had kids but this feels and looks different. Staging photos in a pandemic, fine is not all that difficult but interviews and videos together, bringing a dog into it also, is much much harder. Speaking of the pandemic where everyone is exhausted, I feel like by now their bullshit would have been exposed had it still been ongoing

  17. They have not separated. And Tessa and Scott know every second they are on camera. Fans want to be able to perch like birds on a wire and observe but that is impossible. They're aware always.

Exactly what is harder about interviews and videos together, and a dog?

And who would expose them? Those who are sick of it have moved on. As someone else pointed out, one can see the response of the skating community to Paul & Islam's engagement announcement and the "crickets" to Scott and Tessa and their circle's bullshit.

I can see the desire to have this done and dusted. If they were together they'd be exposed! There's really no incentive to do it. If you had solid proof you wouldn't put it on your public platforms. You'd gossip about it in private with your internet connections.

IMO the closest they came to pushing their luck was Tessa chastising fans for criticizing Scott's fake fucking engagement, meaning it is THEIR fake fucking engagement. She claimed it was his personal life. Well no, Tessa is his personal life. This is a scam and a charade they are running, with countless enablers, and apparently Tessa believes that fans buy into their lies 100% and therefore should observe all the protocols as if their lies were true. To that I say sit the fuck down.

    I think two things:

    1) that attitude is going to bite them in the ass
    2) Tessa's tendency to associate with problematic figures like Jessica Mulroney will wake the social media beast outside figure skating and blow up in her and Scott's face.

  18. As far as I understand, you claim that they are married and have children. How to hide a child for so many years? Why would they want to be people who disappoint their fans instead of being Canada's favorite couple? Isn't that so unreasonable? Can you imagine how much attention they'll get? Why would they give up on this and play a drama that would annoy everyone?
