I don't like you, Madison Hubbell

Happy Halloween

I don't know these people, but it's a bunch of
biathletes dressed up as figure skaters for Halloween.

Now that ice dancing has been cleared of many high level competitors, Hubbell & Donohoe have easily qualified for the Grand Prix final, where they will be defeated by Papadakis & Cizeron, who have yet to make their Grand Prix debut.

I still hold a grudge against Madison Hubbell from last year, where she employed her outspoken personality to perpetuate the kind of narrative bullshit that we can't get enough of in ice dance. To refresh:

Tessa and Scott are kind of that — for me, at least, they’re the quintessential Old Hollywood team. Like, they just…no matter what music you give them or what choreography, they find their place inside of it. I think that they knew their strengths and they knew their weaknesses and seeing them train, they don’t compare themselves, so it lets them be 100% committed to whatever it is they choose to do. And that’s where you see, for me… You know, they get the tens and they get all the +3s. And we see them compete, you know — they’ve had a lot of little bobbles, little mistakes this season in their performances. They don’t always skate perfect, but they make you believe that it’s perfect because they’re so committed to each other, to their performance, and they just get lost in their own little world.

Oh fuck you again, Hubbell.

The sour grapes in figure skating are enough to choke on. Dear God the resentment when somebody or a couple of somebodies are extraordinary AND consistently win. Hell, the resentment persists even when the best skaters with the best skate of the competition are blatantly prevented from winning. Can we please not get some gold hardware and serious respect for the amazing stuff thrown down by the lesser skaters and teams over here instead? Let's have some fairness!

I went looking for Hubbell's quote before starting this post and found it on a webpage -JudgingPrivilege wordpress - I hadn't read before. It reads like something a regular participant or two on this blog may have created. Here's Hubbell re Gabby and Guillaume:

For Gabriella and Guillaume, I think that they’ve always had, even when they were younger and less successful, they had a power, a glide and, you know, sometimes in practice… We actually trained for a little while with them in Detroit when they came, visited Pasquale [Camerlengo] in our first season together [2011-12], and they were a team that were a little bit of a mess, made a lot of mistakes, but those moments that they were really skating together, you could tell they had just this special chemistry, a glide…

Like, for me they are the kind of skating that I want to see in ice dance. It’s power but it’s also elegant. Their lines are just gorgeous and they’ve put a lot of work in the last four years of being here in Montreal on the precision and what it takes to not lose points and not make mistakes, and that’s really the only thing they needed to become the powerhouse that they are, because naturally they have just such beautiful lines. They’re artists in the way that they represent music and feeling and so I think that’s their quality.

I was going to call up some images of P&C's magnificent lines* but how often can you do that? It doesn't matter.

The Judging Privilege blog calls her out.

Excerpts:

When the quotes were condensed and tweeted by Figure Skaters Online, they got to the heart of the matter: Hubbell holds up Papadakis and Cizeron as a sort of Platonic ideal of ice dance, while Virtue and Moir make mistakes, but let you forget about them.

It is also a curious juxtaposition to create — Papadakis and Cizeron as a team who have ceased to make mistakes, Virtue and Moir as a team who do — when the French have logged disruptive falls at two of this season’s events.

Hubbell also stressed on the same call that they are keenly aware that none of the three top U.S. teams have any real edge over the other, nor can they overlook the threats of many other international teams ranked on par.

But something has made them feel similar caution is not in order where Virtue and Moir are concerned.

Judging Privilege surmises this something was Hubbell & Donohue's cozy relationship with notably non-partisan US Judge Sharon Rogers and her frequent scoring of Virtue and Moir as on par with Hubbell & Donohoe.

So in these quotes from last season, Maddie is not being candid. She's politicking.

She will be much happier always coming in second to Papadakis & Cizeron than third behind Virtue & Moir and Papadakis & Cizeron. She can't possibly kid herself that they have a shot no matter how the skating goes down. They're already better than Papadakis & Cizeron and yet must pretend Papadakis & Cizeron's abilities are something to which they can only aspire.

Here's Hubbell & Donohue's free dance at Skate Canada. I don't think it represents their best. I thought there were a lot of little bobbles, as it were, too much sliding and scampering, and many small slips and moments out of sync. And they seemed somewhat gassed in the back half of the program.

I think Hubbell's attitude also resides in the Montreal situation. I suspect and continue to suspect that while H&D and P&C were actually coached by and part of the supposedly close-knit crew at Gadbois, Virtue and Moir were pretending for public consumption only - something with which Virtue and Moir are thoroughly experienced.  I suspect Virtue and Moir had their own coaching, own training ice somewhere else, their own choreography, and behaved as if they needed resources far beyond what was available at Gadbois - and indeed they did need resources far beyond what was available at Gadbois and they got them. As skaters they are far beyond Gadbois and everybody there.

I suspect that what Virtue & Moir did was considered elitism, which I've come to understand is a big no no in elite sports like ice dance. As is truly elite level performance. Be truly elite, you will piss people off.

*sarcasm.

  1. Just watched Skate Canada, none of the ice dancers hold my attention. They're not even close to being on par with Virtue and Moir. HD's routine was boring, can't even remember what music they performed to. Karma.

    1. H/D will be fine. Though I did find their voiceover in their music choice distracting, to say the least. But I give them credit though, they do skate (technically) better than P/C (if compared to their past seasons). I don't know if the ice fed is trying to set P/C as a standard so future ice dancers don't change too much of what ice dance is supposed to be. Cough v/m's so-called acrobatics cough But let me tell you, v/m's presence did draw a lot of ppl to watch ice dance in the first place. They can't take that away ... Bashing them in any way makes them look petty ...

    2. All this talk of SD this season, I keep having flashbacks of v/m's assassination tango back in 2007. Now, that's how this season should have been. Can anyone verify that p/c is competing this month?

    3. On website goldenskate, they are scheduled to skate in NHK Trophy Japan (nov9-11) and Internationaux de France (nov23-25)

    4. Too bad that they withdrew from NHK due to injury

  2. How fickle of ice dance ... Let it die a natural death then. Ironic that it first celebrated progression and now, admire regression. Skating skills, skating styles be damned. Whatever the hell that is. It's all about the flavour of the season, yes? Pageantry and more pageantry ... Ok fine. Safe to say (or warn) future ice dancer hopefuls to not dare to dream or work hard on...hmmm...skating but curry favour to judges is the key to winning. As for the non v/m fans let them bash all they want. Never mind the video evidences or commentary by sport journalists/former skaters or casual observers that they do put out season after season of exceptional skating (both in technique and artistry). Just never mind ... As for H/D, let them be content on finishing behind a much inferior (but supposedly superior) skaters. Let me just say there were pretty justifiable couples at Skate Canada that skated way better than you-know-who. I so ready when they grace us with their presence in November (with their predetermined scores)

  3. LOL and no one not even the boring old prudes on the skating forums like H/D's romeo and juliet everyone is calling it a trainwreck even with david lease trying to hype it up infact their are more dislikes then likes on their FD from skate america video on youtube and people calling it terrible. H/D will be happy to be the ISU's hack second "Best" team then retire after next season content with their gifted silvers.

  4. "B-but T/D like P/C more so P/C must be better"

Just how naive and gullible are some people.

Whatever, you guys can keep T/D and the inferior B rated ice dancers who only like P/C because they hate V/M because of their inferiority complex. V/M have Yuna kim, Yuzuru hanyu, K/P, A/B, Witt and gordeeva so suck on that piper gilles, Madison hubbel, misha ge and meryl davis who no one will remember in 8 years outside of heavily invested figure skating fans. real legends recognize and love V/M. V/M will be remebered forever while all the skaters who hate them sans T/D will fade into obscurty within a matter of years.

    1. Hear, hear ... T/D seems butthurt to be equated to v/m for some weird reason. *eye roll* To think, give credit when credit due. Well, to me, siding with P/C made them look like they want to stay relevant or something.

      Delete
    2. I personally don't think their jealous or threatend by V/M its just because the french skating federation pays for dean to choreo for P/C so they know what side their bread is buttered on. T/D opinions on V/M aren't their true opinions. I remember actually dean praising V/M back in 2010 when they won their first olympic gold. its just them fufulling their personal interests quota. I doubt he or jan actually like P/C's skating. they just like their ferderations $$$$$$$$$. Still spineless of them though.

    3. Yes, it was spineless of them to tweet Tessa and Scott something like that.

      Delete
    4. Wow, that's even more spineless. You know, one can still praise the team they're coaching and not badmouth another so-called rival. They're older and professionals, for goodness sake. If indeed they admire Tessa and Scott before, they can always choose to stay mum/don't pick a side. Much more respectful tbh ... Since they've taunted their work with Gabi and Guillame (mind you, inflated skate scores) by dissing a very notable (superior) skaters, they've pretty much lost my respect

      Delete
    5. I have heard what they said. There was no bad mouthing there. What is wrong with saying that VM were dramatic, and their routine was like a movie. Don't you agree that Moulin Rouge is a theatrical program? Because it is and I'm sure Tessa and Scott wanted it to be. But you would only be happy if TD trashed PC and glorified VM. VM fans are ridiculous and big embarrassment for VM.

      Delete
    6. Wrong. I don't want anybody to trash talk about skaters. Especially coaches who were former skaters themselves. I do get that MR was deemed theatrical/movie-esque feel. But the general consensus here is that their skating techniques/skills are still overlooked in favour of feels (or what a dance should look like). There's just been constant bombardment of how slutty Tessa/lift looks or too cirque-de-soleil or "they're just plain athletic not enough artistic" or "why don't they just retire already", etc comments since they came back until this winter Olympics. But then contradict that comment by saying yeah, they have chemistry but not eternal look or feel, just dramatic. Huh? I don't get why ppl gets antsy that they actually could bring any chosen music into life through skating over their span of their career. They skated with their strengths (and kept improving) and always with their hearts - with the direction of their coaches/choreographers. I see it in h/d, p/c, shibs, w/p, c/l, p/b etc ... because we feel as fans that some skates that can be proven to be inconsistent from one event to another or lower in technique than a cleanly executed harder skill is considered higher makes you wonder how it's possible or fair?

  5. I have recently watched NBC coverage of V/M in 2016/17 season with Charlie White commentating. He seems to acknowledge the greatness of V/M's skating as true and pure ice dancers that are the best of the best. I almost felt, maybe I imagined it, that he realized V/M are wayyyyy better than he and Meryl ever were.

I don't understand how or why Torvill/Dean could ever find fault with V/M's skating.

As an aside, I hope Tessa lightens her hair a bit now that the dramatic routine of Moulin Rouge is over.

    1. oh yeah I recall that too. I feel in terms of friendship wise when v/m and d/w shared coaches, Charlie seems the most genuine. Just my observation. I guess to T/D it's not enough that v/m has received more accolades since their Juniors, mind you, than they've ever achieved in their own career. Maybe it got to their heads that Bolero is the epitome of what ice dance should be. Never mind that v/m has even nothing but gracious with their regards for t/d. What a slap in the face, this must have been.

      Delete
    2. T/D can stay mad that they will never have the chemistry, diversity or technicality, massive fanbase, or a massive standing o that V/M have. They should channel all that negative energy they harbour against V/M into something productive like coaching or giving back to the community instead of wasting resources judging on a skating show in the UK that no one watches, lol what a bunch of washed up, ugly, old losers they are.

      Delete
    3. OMG, what an ugly person cherry blossom is. I wish Tessa and Scott saw her comments. They would be so ashamed of her.

And she doesn't realise that TD had bigger fanbase than VM, but doesn't realise there was no internet and social media back in the day. And of course TD have no chemistry but cherry blossom doesn't realise that even now when they are 60, people want them to be together. And let's wait 30 years and see where VM are in their career and where their fans are.

  6. Got to hand it to you, OC, that whole (sarcasm) Elitism bit resonate what I've been thinking for years since v/m's 2010 win. All the clearer how the Fed (through the judges) want to contain this kind of mindset. It certainly doesn't matter that ppl do watch overall quality skating. Seems kind of stupid today that even the most casual of observers notice shady judging on certain skates.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Friendly reminder that despite the success of bolero the olympic crowd didn't even give it a standing o. just food for thought

anywho, madison hubbel needs to get over herself. shes not that great. I remember reading on stan twitter that her getting into character is cringe worthy, i agree. Also her and her little "we hate V/M clique friendship" she started with gabi is hilarious. lol her and gabi's pathetic middle school girl mentality is hilarious. Are you both 12 or 28 and 23 because half the time i can't tell. Their both so full of themselves, fake, immature and complete bitches so of course they get along just fine and dandy, Well until H/D become a threat to P/C then their "friendship" will dissolve. don't get me started on zach because him dissing the shibs was just a whole other story but at least he admits V/M are superior.

    1. The Olympic crowd did indeed give T/D's Bolero a standing ovation. It's visible on the video and the commentator remarks that it's the only standing ovation of the event.

      Delete
    2. Yep, then at Worlds it got a much longer standing ovation than V/M ever got in their whole lives. And they got an ovation to it again at the Gala (where they were clapped for an encore for 20 seconds after they had left the ice) and then they performed two more routines which also got standing ovations, because everyone was thanking them for everything they had done for the discipline of figure skating and ice dance. Don't worry though V/M got twenty seconds of clapping for the one routine they did at the PC Olympics, primarily thanking them for being Canadian. If you want to play the clapometer game between T/D and V/M, no problem, because V/M can't really compete. Here's a video if you want to educate yourself Cherry Blossom https://youtu.be/n8ldFeBxGQE

    3. Where did these T/D roaches come from? did someone cancel britians got talent and the food network? did the company that owns xanax run out of pills? who cares? V/M have more fans than any other team could imagine having. literally T/D are washed up hasbeens. I remember my mother saying how slow and boring T/D were compared to their competitiors. and no, for the record V/M's MR got the loudest olympic standing o for an ice dance team, I was there. I heard Bolero and it did recieve a standing o but not the cheers V/M's MR got. give it a rest T/D fans they did one cool different thing once, have one memorable program and they are suddenly the permanenet GOAT in ice dance. Are T/D two time olympic champions? are they youngest team to ever win it? do any junior ice dancers look up to them? did T/D have any challangeing rivals? no,no no. and no. V/M are the GOAT. miss me with that bullshit you old pasty ass T/D fans. get some taste.

    4. I've been watching ice dancing since 1980 and I can only recall T/D's Bolero and their 1994 "revolution" set to some sort of complex orchestra arrangement, it was boring and I was cheering for them. I don't remember any other programs of theirs. Now V/M, on the other other hand... every single program since 2007... and every one still captivates my imagination and transforms me to a more beautiful place. They have literally performed perfectly in every single Olympic program in 3 Olympics. Not even Gordeeva/Grinkov can say that in their second Olympics. V/M deserved to have won gold in 2014 and would have if it had been judged fairly.

      Delete
    5. Not that the argument on who received the most applause really matters, because who cares, but I don't think there is a more supportive and jubilant crowd than the Vancouver crowd for V/M's performances at the 2010 Olympics, particularly after their OD and FD.

    6. Since v/m's comeback, some t/d fans have been subtly dissing them. For what? Oh yeah wait, I know it's all this talk of v/m being GOAT. It's not like it couldn't be proven why many consider v/m one. Petty jealousy is just is. Even now, many are subtly hinting v/m to just retire. Even back when they just finished Sochi 2014. I personally think they still have more to give but the judges are hinting that they should. Man, it sucks. Really ... Those who once supported you are the ones who wishes (rushes, in this case) for you to be done.

In the end, it's still what the skaters put on the ice and effort they do that really count/matter. I'll stick with my old fashion tools, TV & my eyes.

    1. If you don't like what you read here, why are you here? It's pointing out truths about what is going on. The pettiness started from the skaters themselves ... They don't need to tear down others they perceive as their rivals in the first place. They can be gracious as v/m has been to them. Though I may not agree with all the posts that come through here. But truth is just what it is. In this case, I'm only sorry that d/h would stoop low to be relevant. And I do think that they are better skaters (technically) compared to p/c. But then they are relegated below them. Which I think it's unfair and also unfair to others similar to h/d. And just because the fed/judges deem a certain characteristic of what ice dance should be look like rather than treat it as a sport that it is. And most importantly celebrate what others do bring to ice dance. I admit it weren't for v/m or c/l or p/b or w/p (just to name a few).. I'd ever watch this field in the first place

  11. Part 1 of 2:

Madison's comment is typical par for the course for Gadbois-era HD. Prior to the 2014-2015 season, a season in which they launched a sham and culminated in them moving to Gadbois, a move that was telegraphed starting from November 2014, HD were more in the vein of the Shibs. In their DSC days, they were humble kids who were just quietly working on their skating and reaching their goals. All of that changed when they got tangled up with Gadbois. Now, there is no a*s they won't kiss, no line they won't cross, and no depth so low that they won't sink down to it.

The heyday of VM's sham has been thouroghly documented and discussed here. VM have undoubtedly done some pretty terrible stuff along the way, the worst of which is probably the tv show and the book. That said, HD's sham reads as worse to me at this point. For all VM did, they never faked an engagement. Granted, Scott would have killed himself first before being fake engaged to Jess, but Scott and Jess are the analogy to Madison and Adria when comparing these two shams. Scott never talked about how he was going to spend his life with Jess or claimed he was going to move to Quebec with her after he was done competing. HD's sham has been dumped into the main stream press far more than VM's was. There are some exceptions, but VM seemed to try to keep Jess out of anything mainstream. HD have embraced it as a loudspeaker. VM did have that stupid show, but they can hide what was presented under the veil of a tv crew and editing. I think most people these days grasp that reality tv isn't all that real and things are not presented as they really are in real real life. The runtime of sham instagram stories from HD and their sham significant others have put out over the last two years since the stories feature was introduced on instagram exceeds the runtime for all seven episodes of VM's show. With something like an instagram story, people perceive it as being live from real life and, therefor, as 100% truth. Speaking of the stories, while VM's sham was generally dropped at predictable time points, HD's sham is on full blast, all the time. There is at least something shammy posted almost every single day, and often times, particularly with the Zach and Olivia arm of it, in copious amounts. It's like they vomit sham on to the internet. It's not an album of photos or a photo or two posted on facebook at a time point we could have predicted two years in advance. With VM, you could forget a lot of the time and just concentrate on the skating. With HD, you never can.

Also, the real big attention getter for the HD sham isn't HD. The stuff they put out seems to put off people more than anything else. It's their fake so's that this seems to benefit the most. SD are terrible ice dancers. Olivia can be worse than even Meryl a fair amount of the time. This is a team that would otherwise be be buried, particularly when Spain has the superior HK who are actually good and improving. Instead, SD gets attention by way of their fake SO's being one of the top ice dance teams and, along with it, the support of USFS, SC, and their own fed while HK are left to claw. SD are getting ridiculously blown up scores compared to what they put out on the ice.

  12. Part 2 of 2:

HD had a good debut season in 11-12, but were then treated horribly politically for several seasons, some of which overlapped with Madison's hip injury. They were being held down in the 14-15 season, but once they started shamming, their political fortunes changed. This season coincided with the rise of Gadbois and PC. My working theory is that HD's political rise is more about them being an antenna to get more attention on Smart Diaz and Spanish skating than it is about HD's own skating. Hurtado Diaz were the original Gadbois team, there long before PC were. (Coincidentally, Hurtado Diaz were featured on the poster advertising the GPF in Barcelona in 2014, although odds were basically nil of them making it on skating alone. I wonder if they were going to play the PC role until PC themselves arrived at Gadbois.) As everything seems to, it all circles back around to propping up Gadbois. Propping up the Spanish team at Gadbois is just another form of attention for that place. I think HD sold their souls to the devil and sham in exchange for the political support that allowed them to climb to the top. HD are legitimately outstanding skaters who should have been able to make it to the top on their skating, but when they were facing the same obstacles that other good teams faced, HD took the low road.

VM's sham was never for those kinds of reasons. VM's sham was a diversion. It gave the busybodies in Skate Canada something to do. It gave some of VM's family and friends something to do to keep them out of their hair. It was also probably a diversion that they (mostly Tessa) thought necessary (it absolutely wasn't) from their real life as married parents. It wasn't a platform they used to try to get ahead with placements or prop up training centers or other teams.

I know Jess and Sebastien got the benefit of a couple assignments early on, but it never impacted on their results. In contrast, SD are held up to the heavens and were even given the worlds spot in 2017 after HK were the ones who actually earned it based on preset criteria from the Spanish fed. Jess and Bryce, IMO, were a different situation since their assignments were earned solely on their own merit as a team. They were talented and could get the job done when Jess cared enough to actually try. They screwed up a lot because of that, but they also managed to do enough to earn their assignments and medals.

Rather than diversion, HD are inviting people daily to snoop on them, even if that too is fake -- they're using their sham as far more active publicity in order to achieve political gain.

    3. That's exactly what I thought when I read that they are withdrawing due to the back injury. Just days before the competition. Maybe they are scared that their program is not good enough, so they made up the back injury (one of the most common injuries)... I immediately thought that they are cowards or they are not satisfied with their programs. But it would be really stupid and immature to do so if they will not be going to GPF because of that, so who knows...

    5. And of course they withdraw only two days before the competition so that another team can not occupy that place, they are detestable

    6. "The injury is considered minor and he is expected to be back on the ice as of today," Baden added. "The decision to withdraw was at the recommendation of his medical and coaching teams. Papadakis and Cizeron have every intention to compete at their next Grand Prix event in France." Guillaume tweeted this: "I am experiencing a back pain that is keeping me from performing at a 100% of my capacities on the ice. Doctors say that it would be an unnecessary risk to travel or compete right now." Well this injury may be really serious and it's not good to risk. But compare this to Tessa, who competed with horrible pain in her shins (she couldn't even walk). It was her decision of course, but it tells you something about her determination. As someone mentioned here, the injury also plays with the P/C narrative that they premiere their programs late in the season (later than everybody else), treating it as the precious diamond from heaven that they kindly present to the world. But all of this behaviour is actually turning against them.

    7. I don't know. I haven't seen anyone (as in the other skaters or judges) turning against them. But yes, it does seem plausible of an excuse because they aren't just ready yet to showcase their programs in comparison to the other skaters who have been competing, getting their marks and refining their own or organs over the past few competitions. Ex. S/B, H/D, etc Want to wait to see if they are worth the hype the P/C fans have been talking about

    8. Based on their music choice, they're not changing their style. Russian skating fans named it a word that is a combination of the words "noodles" and "mucus".

    9. Another Moonlight Snorata? Of course... So what is their music choice for this season?

    10. Duet and Sunday afternoon, by Yamagata.

      Duet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA6wARPeK_c

    11. "Noodles" and "mucus" what's that? Lol Well, I can't really laugh because I just watched S/B's FD performance and boy, there were some moves and lift that look A LOT like P/C's. So...check it out and you'll see what I mean

    12. I tried to listen to Duet and Sunday Afternoon and I almost fell asleep... Why P/C can't choose some faster and edgier music with an actual beat? And leave this slower songs to exhibition programs? They are "digging their own grave" in a sense that they make an impression that they can't skate to anything but this mellow slow shit... and it's really sad because they should be capable of changing styles but they are not.

    13. Remember they are THE artist ... Only they can interpret music through the movement of their bodies unlike any ice dancers have done before. So, yeah they're sticking to it/that kind of music/that kind of eternal movements ... Other ice dancers who do try are just hacks *sarcasm here*

  14. their tango is boring, for a so called sensual team, that tango is totally forgettable, and they are getting low levels at the pattern. The FD is a joke, Romeo and Juliet at their age?, H/D have zero creativity.

    1. Exactly, they are too old to portray Romeo and Juliet, they should choose a different story...

    2. Never mind about being too old to play the parts. I don't know if it's just me but what's up with the FD song choice. Especially when singing voices come on. It's just majorly distracting. Not to mention, the words with song and choreography movements just didn't ... hmmm ... fit?

    3. Yes, the should have at least chosen a different Romeo and Juliet music, but I blame it on their coaches.

  15. Completely OT and unacceptable behaviour it goes without saying but I couldn't help but giggle at two of the minor players in the VM saga having a bad day at the office https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/curling/curling-team-ejected-extremely-drunk-1.4910869?cmp=rss

  16. I'll be done watching ice dance if I find p/c getting scores (in France this week) that doesn't equate to what they put on ice. I mean, definitely will compare their programs with others who had been competing already for a while now

  17. Some skaters and coaches have already said that they don't agree with P/C scores.

  18. oh go choke on a baguette you pseudo-ballet and art expert P/C stan. Pot meet kettle indeed.

  19. Worth noting the difference

  20. Hey OC, what do you think of Hawayek/Baker? They seem pretty solid this season on both programs

  21. Not worth convincing them P/C stan of v/m's long outstanding career. I know from the way they comment, they haven't watched since even when V/M were in Juniors. They based everything starting from when P/C went on from ranking 13th to 1 from hmm questionable skating technique and went with "feels". (P/C Stan can protest all they want but skaters and coaches alike had voiced their opinion on this and video evidence can prove it so ... ) Same with V/M, if they want to talk shit about them personally and based on skating, years of videos are everywhere to show them otherwise ...

  22. Meet the newest sham, Jackie Mascarin (Scott's first skating partner). With him and Tessa tonight at a Special Olympics party in Toronto. She apparently lives in Florida so who knows how long this will last, but buckle up, folks.

    1. How long will they keep doing this ?

    2. Who cares ... speculation, yet again *roll eyes*

    3. She was also in Nashville for their Scott Hamilton show and just got out of a ten-year relationship. This should be fun.

    4. I was expecting a new sham girlfriend, they've been hinting at it for months. I was not, however, expecting this massive troll job. They keep hitting new lows...

Seriously, out of all the women out there, they choose his 'other' skating partner? And of course they timed the big reveal right after their cameo aired, where they all of a sudden bring up his previous partner, while also hinting that they're a couple.

    5. *'hinting they're a couple' refers to VM here, if that wasn't clear.

The trainwreck goes on, I guess. It is entertaining, in a depressing kind of way.

  23. Sleep deprived musing: Another funny thing about the shamming is that it’s been going on so long that people are trying to explain how VM aren’t dating by calling Scott a boorish cad (https://buisnesspartners.tumblr.com/post/180675154870/one-taught-me-pain-one-taught-me-more-pain-one) and proposing that Tessa is gay (https://thevirtch.tumblr.com/post/180674911632/the-real-reason-tessa-wont-date-scott-is-because). Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, but I suspect being called a jerk wouldn’t be good for their image, and even the gay rumors would probably tick off their conservative families and friends. I don’t think these opinions have traction now, but as more time goes on, maybe they might, especially since there are more well-known now? I feel like the shamming will bite them in the butt in even more ways than this blog is already described.
