Scott and Tessa are still "Tessa and Scott"

Tessa and Scott, presented by the W Network.
Partnership venture with the NY Times to follow?
This post takes a winding road to the subject of Tessa and Scott:
And to other reporters: Democracy is not a game. It is not a means of getting our names on the front page or setting the world abuzz about our latest scoop. It is about providing information so that an electorate can make decisions based on reality. It is about being fair and being accurate. This despicable Times story was neither.
Journalist Kurt Eichenwald, for Newsweek. He says “Democracy”, but for me, the point is journalism is not a means of self-promotion and self-positioning for the individual journalist, and all other considerations can fuck off. But as times have evolved, that’s all journalism has mostly become.

The block quote opening this blog post is a summing up from an old school, veteran investigative journalist writing about last week’s New York Times’ rushing into above-the-fold print a “criminal referral into Hillary Clinton’s handling of emails” story based upon a document that turned out to not concern Hillary Clinton and not be a criminal inquiry. The document dealt with a dispute between the U.S. State Department and the Office of the Inspector General over the classification of emails currently being reviewed for release in response to the Freedom of Information Act. The IG office is saying to State: “We disagree with your classification process/criteria” and the State Department is saying, “Fuck off, this is our turf.”

So, Pulitzers all around, and throw that uppity witch in jail. In a separate interview, Eichenwald mentioned that one of the Times reporters on the story has a reputation as a hype artist, and had bungled a non-political 2009 story, an event that seemingly did not stick in the NY Times institutional memory. The paper appears happy to employ and promote witless morons.

While a whole bunch of commentators are deriding the Times, and calling for accountability, the Times is shrugging it off. It even reasserted how proud it is of its “aggressive”, if factually inaccurate, faked up political reporting. Critics are just jellus.

I just put this here for anyone wondering why the sports and entertainment media is blithe about telling us whatever Scott and Tessa want said about them, or for anyone insisting that the media would blow Scott and Tessa's cover if they were lying. There’s no accountability at the presumptive highest level of journalism, and there certainly is none among the bottom feeders (sports, entertainment and all soft “news” programs) and talking heads.

The title of the document upon which the Times story purported to be based, a public document as easily obtained as a press release, was "Potential Issues Identified by the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community Concerning the Department of State’s Process for the Review of Former Secretary Clinton’s Emails under the Freedom of Information Act (ESP-15-05).” This was somehow interpreted by the Times and its source(s) as: “Office of the Inspector General Hereby Makes a Criminal Referral into the Actions of Hillary Clinton vis a vis her Emails while Secretary of State.”

This happened because neither the reporters, nor the individual widely believed to be their source:

Draco Malfoy*
had seen or read the easily obtained document that formed the basis of the Times’ blockbuster scoop.

That’s a lot here above in this post about stuff that’s not directly related to Tessa and Scott. It relates to media accountability at what some consider the highest level. As we can see, when tested, there isn’t any. Write what you want. Lie your face off. I think the cultural change over the past decade is the media no longer even pays lip service to what the consumer thinks. They’re sort of flaunting the fact that credibility is a non-issue, because "we" don’t factor into their process. I think a lot of those in media are having a sustained tantrum over the reality that, vis a vis social media, the public has a direct voice, and that fact has made “legit” media hostile to the public. One of the reasons the blog started in the first place was to reassert that the public has a voice through social media, and social media doesn’t have a hierarchy. Virtue and Moir were using social media as a one-way street. “We’re the celebrities, we tell you what’s true, you shut up and pretend to believe it, while we entertain ourselves mocking you for believing it.” IOW, “we’re somebody, y’all are nobody.” When the blog began, it was because I didn’t see any reason why skating fans shouldn’t join the members of the public that push back on assumptions like that one.

Today, journalism is just a job to leverage the “journalist” into celebrity. That’s the agenda behind the decisions made by many many people in media. It has nothing to do with delivering information, or even (setting the bar low) accurately promoting something. The only thing most journalists are interested in promoting is themselves. Don’t get in the way, public.

******

I did my monthly twitter review and found nothing of interest, except that Tessa and Scott continue to spend way more time together on non-skating appearances than that other famously compatible platonic pair, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto managed post Vancouver. If there are more freeze-frame style canoodling instagram images of Kaitlyn and Scott, I can’t wait to see them.**

I looked at some of Tessa and Scott’s promotion rounds on youtube, including their downright painfully stale TEDxyouth appearance last spring. Awkward, recycled, zero points for effort, with a side of cattiness and pandering bitchery. Kudos to the young Toronto audience for its palpable collective uncertainty, and for the "This is really WTF, but I don’t want to be impolite” ambience with which it received Scott and Tessa’s nuggets of self-referential wisdom (arcane “wisdom” applicable only to Scott and Tessa if the content of Scott and Tessa's remarks were true, but as it’s lies and backstabbing, it's applicable to nobody). I don’t understand how Scott can recite the same lies for going on the second decade, zero variation, yet at one point lose his place and train of thought while he fumbles his index cards. His tells used to be endearing, now I think they’re calculated. “I hate lying so much, I get clumsy and conspicuously uncomfortable when I do it.”  Except it’s bullshit.

Tessa and Scott use the TEDxyouth talk (from the TEDxYouth website: “TEDxYouth events are fun, imaginative, and smart TEDx events designed for, and often organized by, young people. They bring ideas worth spreading to all ages.”) to recycle stale circa 2010 fake biography talking points, including Tessa’s fan fiction about the compartment syndrome rift, and much cattiness and side eye about Canton. Throughout, Tessa’s voice quavered and Scott fidgeted. Tessa continued her nervous habit of smiling while catty, which I think made the audience uncomfortable. Virtue and Moir did basically nothing to help the audience go from micro (Tessa and Scott's particular experience) to macro (takeaways the audience could apply to their own challenges). They were lazy.

According to Tessa, when they trained in Waterloo, they were enveloped in support and warmth, an environment which helped them sustain some normalcy, such as going to an actual school in a real building. But when exiled in the United States among a bunch of Russians and Americans, things sure changed. They were forced to take classes on line. Michigan didn’t allow them to physically attend school in an actual building. This had nothing to do with the schedule of a couple of elite, high performance athletes training for Olympic competition, and everything to do with Michigan’s hostile environment towards soft-hearted Canadians. The coaches were inapproachable, cold bitches, Scott and Tessa were separately forced to room with high strung competitor skaters out to get them. They had to sleep with one eye open. There were no responsible adults in sight.

I know some of us were under the impression, based on what, I’m certainly not sure, that Kate Virtue moved first to Waterloo, and then to Michigan, to room with her vulnerable daughter, and were further under the impression that Kate Virtue publicized this after Vancouver so that none of us could speculate that Scott Moir ever had the slightest opportunity to take Tessa’s virginity.

Apart from “Try to adapt, as we did, if, during your training for the ice dance Olympics, your partner develops compartment syndrome”, and “Be glad you’re Canadian, because the US is full of nasty, backstabbing Americans and cold, inapproachable Russians who might pretend to support your goals but will undermine them at every step.” – there wasn’t much of the typical TED talk: “Here is my specific experience, and now let me pull back, open the aperture, develop context, cite other people’s experience, reference research, and draw connections in a way that you could apply to your own life/goals”. Tessa and Scott’s TED talk reaffirms that they have a very shaky concept of “others". At their most low-maintenance, well-groomed and polite, they still think it’s about their story. Them. Even in a TED talk, it’s not about finding ways (you know, giving some real thought to the experience of other people) for their story to reach out and help people with their own challenges.

I also watched Monica Lewinsky’s TED talk as a comparison, since for me, the bar for her was set as low as the bar for Scott and Tessa.

I wasn’t expecting much. Starting out, Lewinsky described her humiliation and destroyed reputation once the Linda Tripp tapes hit the internet. It was pre-social media, but she describes the loss of privacy, and the destruction of her reputation as devastating. I RME’d over her descripton of her relationship with President Clinton as “in love with my boss”,  and “romance”, but once she moved past her own story (and unlike Scott and Tessa, she did move past her own story) to a discussion of how shame and humiliation has become commodified, to citing examples of people who were not her, to noting how social media has upped the ante, to referencing the piracy of private conversations, private photos, and the excruciating experience of having your private self exposed on the web, she addressed ways in which people could do their part to change the online dynamic. Once she moved past talking about her particular experience to connecting what she went through to what many other people have experienced, and how the ante has been upped, she became more authentic, convincing, and compelling, and you could feel a change in the audience response. The connections she drew were real, not forced. You could see an obvious change in her body language, and hear it in her voice. However self-protective her account of her own experience may have been, once she pulled back to focus on others, to make connections, she clicked.

I’m not sure why Scott and Tessa are so stale. They’ve been peddling the same shit, same details, same way, for years (except for contradictions and inconsistencies we’re meant to ignore). Sometimes I think the whole thing is a sort of a double back flipped contorted pretzeled rationalization about integrity – they want to keep EVERYTHING about themselves, even their actual personalities – away from the public, so absolutely everything, including the persona of shy Tessa scarfing lunch in the washroom of her high school  - is a lie, as if, if they let even a little truth in, it somehow compounds the corruption. Still, at this point, I think they should have a meeting and come up with some fresh lies. They shouldn’t be getting paid for this.

We know this because if either were in a relationship, we’d see it displayed on their facebook accounts, particularly in their profile picture. Scott obviously spoils women for other men. I wonder if Jessica and Cassandra will end up in the same convent.

  1. Pretty sure VM's TedX talk was sometime last November (2014), not last Spring.

VM probably too busy with real life (family, children, skating, studying, etc.) to have time to come up with new lies. Anyhow, why bother. The general public believes them as it is and all media surrounding them loves promoting these lies. There's no incentive to stop saying the same lies nor to stop lying and tell the truth,

    1. I'll correct it, but nothing has changed in the meantime. If they're too busy to update their story maybe they should be too busy to take money for lazy efforts like that one.

Nobody expects them to make public appearances or deliver paid speeches built around, "Hey, we're actually married." The story behind that isn't going to be helpful to any audience, apart from what it would confirm about the media/celebrity relationship vis a vis the public. Scott and Tessa's take on "we're really married and lied about it." would probably not go over well, since their point of view is "And it's your fault."

I think, however, they could womp up a speech or presentation that delivers more than the millionth recitation of their made up biographical details that anyone can find on line free. They could make up a speech that acknowledges other people exist, people such as the audience who paid to hear them.

What was the audience supposed to get out of that speech that it couldn't get from a basic meet and greet or one of Scott and Tessa eighty billion prior interviews? What in that presentation was relevant to the lives of those who'd paid to hear Scott and Tessa?

Neither of them appear to have the interest or ability to see past their own noses, and they're willing to sell out friends and supporters if it helps them pander.

I thought the talk was a turn off. There was lots of catty innuendo about Michigan. It struck me as their typical pandering to what they perceive as their Canadian fanbase having ownership interest in Tessa and Scott. When they were in Canton, Tessa and Scott had breathing room, and appreciated the breathing room, that they didn't have at home. To compensate, they typically throw a lot of chum at Canadian fans, even though the pretended encroachments of Canadian fans has been their primary rationale for lying.

There were many people in Michigan who extended themselves for Scott and Tessa, gave of themselves, but Scott and Tessa find it expedient to pretend they were pariahs in Michigan. Not only does it contradict everything they said while they were training in Michigan, it spits in the faces of a lot of decent people. I also don't understand why these two enjoy positioning themselves as victims. They both do. Us against the world. In terms of the support these two receive (outside the ISU), these two are the most privileged, the most supported, the most enabled. Their entire career they've had people falling over themselves for them. The lonely victim routine is just ungrateful and nasty.

They have no interest in talking about the ways in which they actually WERE victims - how they were robbed of gold in 2014, how their own Federation sold them out, how their families can't utter a peep because their family business is embedded with Skate Canada.

Nobody who trains for elite Olympic competition has a walk in the park. Nobody. The nature of the elite athletic training puts tremendous demands on the athlete's time, finances, brain and body. That said, Tessa and Scott are extremely fortunate and privileged in ways many other skaters can only dream about, but they tell TED that they felt is if "Nobody else suffered the way we did." That's the kind of thing that can be uttered ONLY by individuals who have no interest in other people.

  2. OC, what do you think happened to Tessa's second pregnancy ? Last year you were convinced that Tessa is hiding a pregnancy but now you don't mention it anymore.

    ReplyDelete

    1. You've asked this question so many times, why is this so important to you? Would OC constantly mentioning a second child somehow make it more believable? OC is an anonymous person with a blog, she can point out patterns but certainly isn't an authority on this.

Personally, there's no doubt in my mind that there was a second pregnancy (and I'm half-wondering if she's pregnant again...) but I'm also an anonymous person on the Internet. It's up to you to decide what you believe.

      Delete
    2. After OC made dozens of posts analyzing Tessa's body and pictures and using it has proof that Tessa is a terrible person to her fans it seems rather odd that OC sufdenly pretends that the entire last year didn't happen. Too proud to admit that s/he was wrong ?

Why do you think there's another pregnancy ?

I don't need anybody to tell me what to believe, I have my own opinions. But why bother to run a blog or comment on it if you're not willing to discuss anything or to back up your opinions ? That's the entire point of commenting in the first place, no ?

      Delete
    3. 7:39 - OC not commenting the way you would like means s/he's pretending last year didn't happen and also that she's proud and wrong? These kinds of irrational conclusions do not inspire any discussion with you.

A quick review of the first blog entries shows that OC wanted to say what she knew to be true and document VM's sham. She never said she was going to give running updates on VM's lives. Tessa and Scott may have more children, they may not. It's not OC's stated intention to inform about the evolving details of VM's lives.

Since the blog began, there have been numerous discussions addressing demands for information and sources. All you need to do is go back and read those discussions. There's no need to keep repeating them. And no, not wanting to engage with you does not automatically mean the stated facts are not true.

    4. "OC not commenting the way you would like means s/he's pretending last year didn't happen "

There's a difference between not " commenting the way you would like " and completely ignoring the matter, which is exactly what OC is doing. Last year she called people who doubted the second pregnancy delusional and ignorant, but now there's silence after she put in so much time and energy to prove Tessa's second pregnancy ? It's only reasonable to ask OC why she chooses to ignore a topic that she herself spent so much time and energy on.

    5. I'm not 4:54, and I also have no doubt Tessa was pregnant a second time, but frankly, I would like to hear OC's take on it too. The fact that the TedX talk happened in September 2014 is significant - I remember looking at screencaps of it trying to figure out if she'd just had the baby or not. I'm really surprised to see it dregged up here with an incorrect date analyzing the content of the talk which was so not why the event was relevant, IMO. I would certainly be interested to know if OC, or anyone else, has any information about it they would be willing to share, or if it was all just speculation (speculation I think was correct, but still). I remember how crazy their schedule was, and how they just kept adding things so there was no apparent break for a childbirth, and thinking "but how the hell did they get away with it AGAIN?"

Since OC was more than happy to speculate last summer about how Tessa was pregnant and photoshopping her pictures, I don't think it's too much to ask what OC thought happened when the baby was born, and what's going on with them and their family currently. I would be interested in reading that, personally.

  6. And another skating season is upon us...Paul/Islam debuted their amazing SD this past weekend. The skating is divine, but that's not going to be the reason why they pull up in the standings this season; it will be the halo effect of training with Dubreuil/Lauzon.

How many placements are you willing to bet they're going to leapfrog in the standings?

    1. I think if one of the Montreal teams leaps up in the standings it's going to be Hurtado/Diaz. They had a poor season but are still highly regarded because of their Picasso FD. And they are a young team. The judges seem like they're trying to get rid off the old teams and promote the new generation. P/I have been around for too long without any success. Their marks might rise but I doubt they'll really make it big in the eyes of the judges if the Spanish team skates well.

3:03, Hr/Dz are basically the same age as P/I, and have been competing longer internationally.

    5. The judges burned Hurtado/Diaz at 2015 Worlds, I don't expect them to move up because it's clear for whatever reason the ISU just doesn't like them.

P/I's SD is okay. It still needs more polish and a costume change for sure but its definitely more of a waltz than what H/D put out. Also if their FD is better than that horrendous Daft Punk monstrosity than their chances of moving up are even better.

      Oh and here's G/P's new FD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSJwMTWsWz8&app=desktop

Surely this can be beatable by P/I, I mean its not even difficult: WHERE ARE THE HOLDS??!!?? Not to mention its not very aesthetically pleasing. . The movements look jerky to me, the flow is not modern and their lines are gangly.

      Delete
    6. That G/P FD is a whole lot of nothing. So naturally FSU went gaga over it.

I would say a costume change is pretty certain for P/I. Alex posted about her practice tutus. The program needs lots of mileage, but there is a lot of content for them to work with.

From most reports of people who have seen Tessa recently I got the impression she was fitter and in better shape than last year while Scott's weight gain is worrysome.

    3. Tessa has most definitely gained a lot of weight in a remarkably short time and has a bit of a belly. I first noticed it in a picture from Canada House at the PanAm games and did a double take - but it isn't only that picture, you can see it elsewhere as well.

Of course, as usual, Tessa is very good at dressing herself to hide it. You've got the return of the shirt tied around the waist, the disappearance of the crop top in Good Kisser, lots of black, high waist, etc. It could simply be rapid weight gain but my guess is another pregnancy. Which, if true, is interesting in terms of a potential comeback.

      Delete
    4. "It could simply be rapid weight gain but my guess is another pregnancy. Which, if true, is interesting in terms of a potential comeback."

I doubt an athlete of Tessa's caliber is simply gaining weight. I also suspect another pregnancy.

In the interviews they did during the Lindt Master Classes, I felt they sounded more doubtful and hesitant about a comeback. IMO they can come back. They have the skills and talent and apparently a very good support system behind the scenes.

The stumbling blocks I see to a comeback are the ISU politics and VM continuing to drain energy and time from their lives with this ridiculous shamming. If their family status were out in the open I think they would be surprised at the overwhelming support they would have from their fans and the Canadian public in general. I hope they come back. I believe they can do it, in spite of their busy family life.

      Delete
    5. "I doubt an athlete of Tessa's caliber is simply gaining weight. I also suspect another pregnancy. "

All kinds of athletes put on weight rather rapidly. Or are you saying Sasha Cohen, Nastia Liukin or even Plushenko or Scott himself were all secretly pregnant ?
Perfectionism alone can't stop the natrual development of the body and Tessa is now approaching the age where it gets more and more difficult to stay skinny. Especially when you take Tessa's body type into consideration. She's naturally broader in built, she can't stay this skinny without rigorous training and dieting.

      Delete
    6. Tessa's weight gain is concentrated in the abdomen regimen. When you gain weight because you let yourself go, the weight you gain is distributed all over.

      Delete
    7. Yes to 4:21. Not only that, Tessa is strong and in very fit, not at all like someone who is just letting themselves go.

The idea that Tessa is approaching the age of gaining weight is ridiculous. She's in her 20's. Wait until she's in her 50's, then you can say ludicrous things about her ability to stay thin or her body type.

Tessa has never shown any problems with her weight. The only times there's demonstrable weight gain are the times it specifically has followed a pregnancy trajectory. After that, without fail she is back to her normal trim self, with absolutely NO problems maintaining a normal, healthy weight. The argument that it's all due to the fact that she normally struggles with this issue is a fallacy. Review her public history from the time she was in the public eye. Not a weight problem in sight except for this pregnancy weight-gain. In a short time she will be her normal shape again, watch and see. Without any problems staying at her "normal" weight, either.

      Delete
    8. " Tessa has never shown any problems with her weight. The only times there's demonstrable weight gain are the times it specifically has followed a pregnancy trajectory."

Like during tbe second pregnancy where nobody could even come up with a halfway plausible timeline ?

Tessa's normal weight was a lot higher before she decided to go on a strict diet before Vancouver. She even had some curves before she lost all her weight and became flat-chested. Why wouldn't Tessa deliberately put on some weight to look a little more feminine again ? Especially now that she tries to become a C list celebrity. Figure skating fans may like slim bodies but mainstream media prefers curvier women.

      Delete
    9. 1:38
      You are full of BS.

Tessa never went on a strict diet before Vancouver. She had lost weight because of the first surgery. Nothing to do with "dieting" but with recuperating and managing the pain that never went away at that time.

Since more fully healing from her compartment syndrome after the 2nd surgery and no longer dealing with pain, she has not had any recurring issues with becoming too frail. She's normal and healthy, including during pregnancy. She is not "deliberately" gaining nor losing.

      Delete
    10. Tessa started struggling with compartment syndrome after she went on a strict working and dieting plan to get fit for Vancouver until her body couldn't handle it anymore.
That's how she got this overuse injury in the first place.

      Delete
    11. 3:30. You are making things up. Tessa over trained and got compartment syndrome. It is not related to dieting. Tessa and Scott have always been careful in a healthy way, she was not doing anything differently as far as dieting. They are fortunate that from the earliest years they've worked with nutritionists and they have avoided those common eating disorders of many skaters. Tessa's weight loss before Vancouver was never due to extreme dieting.

      Delete
    12. ^^ That's correct.

After that first surgery, Tessa looked very frail. Before the surgery she was her normal self, there had been no dramatic weight losses.

In fact, while still dealing with intense pain, by the time of the Vancouver Olympics she had already bounced back to a healthy weight for her. All this talk of extreme dieting and weight losses is not Tessa. It must be more of that fan fiction certain fans indulge in.

    1. Wait for it - Scott and Tessa all over each other like a rash at CNE and then Tessa gets in on a Twitter convo with KL - sham is coming.

    2. Yep. Expecting sham. Lawes in same area of the country plus a big public event like CNE? They won't waste a perfect opportunity to promote this weird, lying PR.

  11. 5:16. Did you bother reading the comments? While comments may be saying Tessa looks pregnant, comments are also saying she is fit and strong. No one is body shaming or mocking.

  12. The red dress is unflattering on her. Always has been and always will be. I agree that she looks vaguely pregnant in one picture but she's also wearing the red crop top for Good Kisser and from what I can tell, looks the same as she did when she wore it for the stars on ice tour.

    1. The last time she wore that dress she was pregnant, it was in no way unflattering at 2009 Skate Canada. And the images we have with the crop top are very blurry, hard to tell anything from that.

    2. But to my eye she does look quite different and even moves in a heavier way. Props to her in being able to pull this off though, she's amazing.

    3. Here's a comparison of her wearing the red dress in 2009, 2010, and 2015

I'd call it forgiving, not unflattering. When her stomach is flat, the dress lies flat. When she's pregnant, it stretches out.

Here's a video from China. Form your own opinion.

    4. Tessa really is amazing, pulling this off.

To the person saying she saw her stomach as cut up as in the fitness photo shoot -- Refer to blogger's present header with all the different sizes Tessa appeared to be at around the same time last year. In what universe does someone with a widening torso and rounded little belly also in the same time-frame appear to be cut and flat? That can only happen with some visual trickery in angle, lighting, clothing, or photoshopping. All the recent photos and video of Tessa looking pregnant are not the ones with visual tricks.

Hats off to Tessa for her incredible level of fitness even while she's pregnant.

    6. I know Tessa doesn't owe anybody anything but if she is pregnant again it's so infuriating that someone who could be an amazing role model for young women refuses to step up to the plate. An elite athlete, student, wife, mother, incredibly strong and fit without compromising her femininity - she could get such a great message out there. These two make me want to bang my head against a wall.

  13. If Tessa is pregnant again...it makes me think they actually might be planning a return for the Olympics in 2018. If she's starting to show now, this baby will presumably be born sometime in the first few months of 2016, which would free them up (well, aside from having three kids, 2 of whom would be under 2,) to train hard straight through into 2018.
I mean, there could be a zillion reasons for having another baby now, who knows, but I can see why, if they want more than 2 kids, waiting until after 2018 might spread them out a bit more than T&S might want, age-wise, and waiting to have baby #3 later in 2016 or in 2017 might start to really cut into the time they'd need if they were to start training for the games. So maybe this was the plan all along.

  14. 12:50. Remember how amazing Tessa's body is, able to carry pregnancies almost to term with very little evidence. If she's showing now, I put my money on her being ready to deliver this baby in the next month or so. She wouldn't be showing at all unless she's very far along. Yes, she is one marvelous athlete.

    2. 3:49. Thinking back to the last two times I am sure she was pregnant. Since when did Tessa *not* push things a bit? She appears at public events towards the end of the pregnancies, confident no one will dare question anything.

Some of the screencaps I'm seeing from CNE. OMG. For this girl, I would say most certainly full into the third trimester. She's the kind who shows very little, but these skating dresses/pants are not hiding much at this point. *For Her* she looks very very pregnant.

  15. Look at the end of this gif: http://cuteiceprincesslove.tumblr.com/post/127331757471 and tell me that's not a pregnant woman. And, please, it's not weight gain - you can see here and in the red dress pics that there isn't any extra fat/weight on her, it's a clearly pregnant belly and widening torso. I really don't understand how the tumblr girls haven't questioned why she looks so different from her normal self.

  16. I have a theory. It's JUST a theory, and not one I'm going to defend, just a thought I had. It might be possible that if Tessa was pregnant a year ago that she had a miscarriage. That would explain why it seemed like there was never a break for her to deliver last October/November. It also would explain the extended waffling about their return - if they didn't end up having that second child when they were hoping/expecting, then they took another year off to keep trying. Not that they need a reason to waffle seeing as how they do that anyway, of course. So like I said, just a theory.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why can't one of those people who supposedly had "inside information" from those vague "inside sources" get any confirmation about the supposed second child and the current pregnancy? If it's so easy to know for sure that they're married and had a baby girl in early 2011, why can't anyone get information now? Oh, that's right, because none of it's real. Silly me.

  18. Who is going to take care of 2 kids in diapers and a kindergarten kid when VM make a comeback, as some where suggesting ? Family support can only do so much at one point Tessa needs to take care of them herself. 8 h in training every day plus two screaming babies and a child seem hardly realistic. Unless Tessa abandons her kids to achieve her goals ,which I wouldn't put past her tbh.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Um, sexist much? It isn't only the mother's job to take care of the kids.

For any other pair I'd take this new pregnancy as a sign that they're not coming back. But this is VM, who competed less than two months after having their first kid. We'll just have to wait and see what they decide to do.

  21. I'm with third trimester because of what we saw in the past. Tessa Virtue has extremely strong abs and a long torso that can fill in without the traditional maternity basketball bump.

The way she looks right now is similar to when they skated in the 2010 Christmas show, Winter Dreams on Ice. In certain angles she looked slim and flat. Other angles she looked like a refrigerator, square and filled in and much wider than her normal self. In fact, right now she is showing more because, depending on the angle, there is a visible bump, whereas the first time it was less discernable. I think all signs point to being close to the end of a pregnancy (like someone said up thread, *for her.* She cannot be compared to a traditional pregnant woman).

    1. Tessa is not an exception to other pregnant women that have strong abs and are long in the torso. Even women that don't show a lot still have that distinguishing pregnant belly shape. Tessa doesn't look like she's in the first trimester, yet alone the third. And for 3 pregnancies now? Women typically get bigger and start showing earlier after their first pregnancies.

Everytime Tessa was supposedly pregnant they'd only do simple lifts and Scott never touched Tessa's belly.

  23. Haven't made a comment here in a while. Do I believe in the sham-no. That being said, I've been watching some of available videos from the CNE. One take away I get is that VM have enjoyed skating at this show. After the CNE gig is over - I think we will get back to Scott dropping off the face of the earth and Tessa promoting her collaboration with the jewelry line. Personally I would love to see them come back to competitive skating - just because I think they have still more in the tank. However does the ISU or Skate Canada want them back - I doubt it. Weaver/Poje definitely don't. The one person who I think definitely does not want VM to compete is: Lawes herself. Although they may seem chummy - I don't think Lawes herself trusts Scott to spend a prolonged period of time with Tessa - which would explain her being glued to Scott for the majority of the summer. I am hoping that Scott in turn doesn't become a curling groupie for the fall/winter. I still have to laugh about curling in general being viewed as a demanding sport. Really? When was the last time team Jennifer Jones actually practiced together? I had to laugh at KLawes tweet earlier in the month indicating where has the summer gone. Really Kaitlyn? You have been off vacationing since May. Its a good thing you have decent sponsors and that you are apparently good friends with the Goldline company - sales rep for Manitoba/Saskatechewan - tough gig. You may be a nice person but I think the ego is growing.
As for the VM - if they did decide to go back to competitive skating - I don't think they need to necessarily go to a ice dance school (DL or Igor). They could easily go to the Cricket Club in Toronto and assemble their own team. They have been in the game long enough to know what they need and where to go for outside help. Just my opinion. If competitive skating is not in the cards, Scott should consider power skating seminars - whether for hockey teams, speed skating teams etc. It would give him the opportunity to travel and teach. I just got the impression that he enjoyed the Lindt skating seminars.
