Oops. Scott: "A big part of our - my life now and Tessa and I's career is to give ...."

Let's just overlook the grammar and be grateful the two are keeping up their friendship after Sochi. I bet him and Tessa will find themselves giving back in all kinds of ways.

Also, this:

new photos of Scott and Tessa

Beautiful "new" (to us) photos of Scott and Tessa by their official portraitist Myra Klarman, who, in her preview of this photo set, goes on quite a bit to tell us she has no idea what the future holds for these two, reminisces about the first time she was contacted to photograph them in 2008, and is a bit vague about something to do with not photographing real couples, but then shares a  link that apparently explains how her silly ideas were cleared up back then (didn't click on it but my guess it's to that odd New York Times article), and then says one reason she delayed publishing the latest photos was she didn't want her relationship to Scott and Tessa to end, nor did she want the relationship BETWEEN Scott and Tessa to end (although what bearing her photographing them or not would have on that last, I have no idea) ... all just as if Myra Klarman has never in her life taken a portrait of Infant, Baby, Toddler, or Little Moir. Why Klarman has decided to natter on in this vein this time when she's never stooped before is a mystery, but depressing.

Klarman says she took these photos in September.

For some reason this photo shoot didn't make the reality show. I thought those cameras followed them everywhere.

coSaundra's current profile pic on fb.

Let's not even try with this one. It's just part of the record, so it goes in.

Then there's Scott, Friday, at Cowboys:

Which sort of comes off like a Rose takes Celeste to the Paramus mall in Soapdish situation. (Google the 1991 movie Soapdish, and that description and you'll see what I'm taking about.) Or it's heads up to everybody to notice that our stud can't even walk in someplace for a beer without the chicks crawling all over him. Pretty soon he'll have to buy another condom.

Then there's this blast from the past:

Jessica Dube's February 6 profile picture.
At first I thought - aww, this is the only way Jessica can figure to express the re-ignition of whatever might be up with her and Bryce, but then I saw the date and realized the Sochi Olympics were beginning, she wasn't part of it, and this was her best way of "me too-ing" and sort of piggybacking a little name check for herself.

A note - I think it's a shame Jessica hasn't found a boyfriend since she and Scott broke up two years ago. We know how she is with boyfriends. When she has one, even when her facebook is restricted, she has him in steady rotation on her public profile pictures. Jessica has had bubkus in the romantic vein in her profile photo since she and Scott parted ways. He must be hard to get over. If she had a boyfriend, she'd put HIM in rotation, because that's what she does.

It's an interesting question though. What power does Moirville have over Klarman to make her write a post like that? Has her association with them brought her fame and fortune that she wouldn't otherwise have had, and now she's sad that might all come to an end?

    1. Her post is just so contrived and "off". As if she suddenly has to clarify - I don't know anything about these people! I just love them - and it makes me sad to think their relationship will end now that their career is over - just as it makes me sad to think mine will with them - neither of which remark makes any sense whatsoever. Why should a portraitist stop photographing VM if they retire? Their photos were always haphazardly released and this last set wasn't even released until after the Olympics, when their career was presumed over anyway. So what is she talking about? It's like she brings up the subject so she can drag in one of two things - i.e., help them sham, or try to explain that she doesn't know any more about them than the rest of us - just what they tell me! I don't know what their future is, I made a silly assumption when they first called me in 2008 only I'm not exactly spelling out what that assumption was, and oh, just get the hint okay?

      It's very weird.

  2. Hahaha. Yes indeed. No boyfriend for Jessica. She absolutely can't have one. Because if she did, she'd be switching out those profile photos so frequently! Especially the ones of her with the boyfriend at summer weddings, and on vacations, or anywhere, really.

Poor sad, lonely Jessica Dube. No boyfriend. Nope. There can't be one, we haven't seen him on FB, after all!

    Hahahaha. Love it.

  3. That scene in Soapdish is hilarious.

  4. I don't think the timing of the photo release was in any way a odd or a coincidence - they were released at the start of Tessa and Scott's two days of post-Olympics interviews in Toronto (Monday and Tuesday). And, given that the theme is purportedly about looking to the future, I suspect it was coordinated for exactly this time; just think, how perfect would the photos have been (theme and all) if they had won the gold, and were able to put the bow on their careers? The narrative would have been rom-com closure perfection.

On the new Cassandra photo, it coincided (again, we're supposed to believe pure coincidence) with her re-liking the Scott Moir page (she must had removed it from her public profile during the Olympics). I suspect, again, that they were preparing for retirement but with all that happened at the Olympics, they were left feeling less certain about the decision to retire. Cassandra sending mixed messages, I suspect, leaves open the possibility of them returning to that narrative should they decide to continue to skate competitively. As I read it, they're just leaving their options open.

    1. I sometimes feel VM and DW are playing chicken with each other. VM are not staying in if DW stay in - they're done playing foil that legitimizes DW. DW likes having a foil - look at us, beating Virtue Moir every time we step on the ice! And what's the sense of staying in if they don't stay in.

This is purely a guess but there's so much hedging. From here, it seems there's no point for VM if DW stay in and there's no point for DW if VM go out.

    2. I wonder what changes the ISU will make after this season...will that stupid hop into the twizzles no longer get a level 4? Will they do away with annoymous juding? All these changes would hurt D/W and help V/M.

I've had that same sense that the teams are playing chicken with each other to some extent. I know I shouldn't try to get in their heads on this, but I could see VM feeling like there's more they want to do on the ice, and without a real pro circuit, at their ages, staying in the competitive ranks is still an option, perhaps the most appropriate. On the other hand, I agree they're done playing foil for DW.

DW do seem to like "winning" every time they step on to the ice. They seem to be motivated by whatever VM are doing. It's the "us too" thing.

    4. I know, we can't get in their heads but I think VM love competing and are at their peak. They're still young. But there's no point whatsoever in staying in while DW stay in, because they're not allowed to beat DW. I SUSPECT they'd like to stay in or they'd have made the retirement announcement right away.

As to rule changes, I would bet anything the ISU is also waiting on DW. If DW stay in, the hop into twizzles stays level 4.

    5. OC I agree, I just rewatched torville dean '94 Olympic gala perf of bolero. I really see VM coming back in same way. they are even better than torville and dean. and after watching TD in 94, I noticed the edging, the hold, the pace, and the only other team like that is VM. I hope they come back bc the Olympics were depressing for each figure skating discipline. hopefully the south Koreans will host a fairer competition,

  5. I would be shocked if they don't come back for another Olympics.

    1. If DW stay in, they won't compete. There's no point. They're not allowed to win.

And I can see DW taking ALL summer to decide. This is going to be ugly. I hope I'm wrong. Or they'll do 2-3 years and then retire just before the Olympics, too late for VM to really get back in the groove.

    2. I think what DW do may be contingent on if the perks keep rolling in. ABC is planning a series of figure skating specials geared around them. In part, it makes me cringe because DW can't skate. OTOH, if it keeps them occupied enough to not try to compete, well then, I can deal with that. I would gladly trade an infinite number of DW skating specials in exchange for a VM Paso Doble SD next season.

  7. Hey OC, I heard that Scott Moir did break up with his "girlfriend" Cassandra recently (right after the OG). That he is "in no relationship" now. Is this true?
