Except not really

I'm a bit conflicted about this because this facebooker (a FOVM*) was like the sham Paul Revere during the heyday of Jessica's facebook outreach. Johnny-on-the-spot seconds after a new album was uploaded, alerting everyone about what a wonderful couple were Scott and Jessica.

But at the same time and at least for now, I don't want to make anybody who can't distinguish between the blog using sham-related facebook material and other material, paranoid.

So, I'll split the difference for now -  use the content, but scramble the i.d.

Okay, so this person is saying this almost-23 year old and 24 year old are such good "kids".  I believe that, except they're not kids.

Then there's "what you see is what you get" which she knows is a lie.

So in the great tradition of Skate Canada, is this a pre-emptive lie - i.e. - something mega-bogus is afoot? That's been the pattern.

Or is it a defensive flip us off lie. E.g. -  these are good kids, so whatever they do is good.

I kind of think that's a big component of how this crowd operates. It's not bad because THEY do it, and they're good people. Ethics depend on who is doing it, not what is being done. Even Tracy Wilson has resorted to that - in the forward to Virtue Moir's book, she said they do things for the "right reasons."

It doesn't work like that Tracy (much as I love Tracy). You are your actions. Being good is behavior, it's choices, it's not a state of being and it really isn't about motives - especially if the "higher good" or "right reason" is self-interest, profit, and/or plain convenience.

What you see is what you get? For real? So this facebook wall is saying when we see Scott and Jessica, that's real? What we saw was what we got (a/k/a the truth) in that photo call overseen by Debbi after the Olympic ice dance final? Always has been, always will be?

Man, the opinion these people have of themselves. Because of who they are, everything they touch - good. Regular ethics are for other people not as special and good. So the rest of us can just fuck off.

I can't wait til the reasons come out, if they even bother, to see how well the reasons match up with the many things they've done, and how often, including Scott's fan facebook set ups. Scott announcing he was shutting down his personal facebook and then not; VM hinting at getting together down the line while playing up the sham at the same time. Oh, and 4CCs 2011. That's another face value event VM and their friends can brag on. And the rift - a centerpiece of their book, and a fabrication.

I realize VM are nice people who are very nice to people's faces, including to fan faces. I am sure they're nice to people who are in their lives. They're also mega liars who both stage and proactively sell lies, set fans up to get spammed by them, and withhold even innocuous photos of themselves for no good faith public relations or sham protection reasons. These are the realities. Scott even made fun of shipper fans right after the Olympics, and Tessa had the habit of gaslighting them - making them think they had VM confused with movie characters. This was such nice behavior.

Does make one wonder about the religious/ethical training of all concerned. And I have to say it reminds me of the popular Canadian past time among some Canadians of insulting Americans as aggressive and rude while bragging on their own wonderful politeness. That behavior is, of course, the opposite of politeness. "We're wonderful and you suck." Yeah, that's very nice. But I read it a LOT. "We in Canada are wonderful and we're not horrible like you sucky Americans." And of course, no irony is perceived when things like that are said.**

So, it's like, Scott and Tessa are wonderful wonderful and all of you who have been sold a bill of goods about them --- aren't.

Is that the deal?

There are a LOT of good people in this world, many of them fans. It's not an entitlement. It doesn't set one apart from the rest of humanity, and it's not unique to Canadians. It's what human beings are supposed to be striving towards - all of us, not just unique figure skaters.

What you see is what you get:
Is that right.
Such good people. You might even say classy. Because this was necessary.

What you see is what you get:
I don't know about that, but they make sure we see it, I'll give them that.

  1. I don't think the ID should be scrambled. We should all see who are the people PUBLICLY enabling VM in their falsehoods. If the ID were from a "private" source, I agree; but this is not the case in this instance.

    1. I may unscramble it in a bit. It's not a fan, but as some fans were recently making up a panic about the blog posting their supposed personal stuff (that they put on publicly visible fbs) - I'll wait til they make up another grievance and then I'll unscramble it. Right now is a skating lull so, maybe at WTT. It's only scrambled for those fans, not for this friend of VM's.

The self-righteousness from this quarter is really breathtaking. It's like "So there!" Except no. I don't care if their friends and family like and love VM, they are not "what you see is what you get" they are the opposite and this person freaking knows it, so what statement is she making? Everything they do is good because they're the ones doing it? This person herself was a frequent enabler on Jessica's facebook and SHE's coming out with this? What's her word worth? It's like they're special beings.

This crowd has been so disrespectful, so ass-backwardsly elitist and parochial and spiteful, and then they run around patting themselves on the back for being better than and wonderful and getting pissed at people who object to being manipulated and lied to. Guess what - people who are the targets of manipulation and lies get to call it out. They're not being done wrong, unless they believe their manipulation, set ups, bold faced brazen lies and double-dealing, media-wise, is an entitlement and the public should consider it a positive. (I can't help returning to Thompson - it's just such a mystery why more corporations wouldn't want to associate themselves with someone who has such a magic touch with the public.)

  2. Blogger - you have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about. Why do you continue to embarrass yourself? Your comments towards Canadians are so offensive. Your attempt to not discriminate by saying "some Canadians" is an epic failure. Do not attempt to speak on what is a Canadian pastime, or what is unique to Canadians. Please do not try to speak for me. Just go back to spouting your stories about the hidden marriage and hidden baby.

    1. ^and you don't speak for all Canadians either. I found nothing offensive in this blog entry.

    2. Anon 1:05, I didn't say that I spoke for all Canadians but sure, I'll clarify. I find the comments towards Canadians in this post offensive to me, and I personally don't agree with them. You, and the blogger obviously, are free to feel however you want. We all have different views of things.

Except that before clarifying that the comments are offensive to you personally, you said that the blogger is embarrassing her/himself, is an epic failure, should not speak about anything Canadian...

      Thank you for clarifying.

    4. All I need to do to know what I'm talking about, anon 12:47, is to read.

Secondly, your clarification is entirely different than your initial remark. It's like you're on the starting block, panting to jump as soon as a pretext presents itself, and you overshoot.

    5. Let me further clarify. I completely meant what I said in my initial 12:47 post. I still stand by it now and do not intend to change its meaning. It is how I personally feel about your post. I am not trying to "water down" the tone. The clarification that I'm making is to ensure that I'm speaking on behalf of myself, not to give the impression that I mean to speak on behalf of others. I still do not agree and don't believe you know what you're talking about. Hope that provides further clarification.

    6. Going forward take it as given I'm not speaking for you. I never have been.

  3. That picture of JD with her supposed "niece" makes me nauseated...it was just a couple of days after I met my nephew...in London...judging by the curtains in the same damn hospital OF ALL THE CRAP YOU PULL TS, THIS ONE'S PERSONAL

    1. I think they do stuff like that for the very reason that idiot nobody fans would never believe they'd do something like that. It's obvious none of this counts or affects them, because their opinion of the public is respect doesn't have to enter into it. They can exploit fans' parochial, home grown assumptions about what these wonderful "kids" would or wouldn't do. Would they pull fans' strings using babies, because fans are so naive they can't imagine someone using a newborn as a manipulative tool? Yep.

I bet it's so so hard to explain. Unique as everything is with them. We just won't get it.

    2. Yep, unique is the word. You have to be a special kind of unique to even think of half this stuff. But yeah, I think you're right. And that interview with Tracy, sheesh...this time around at Worlds I actually realize that they're married and it was jarring how ridiculous they sound. Maybe the apparent depth and perfect-matchness of their love is uncommon, and maybe the autobiographical details are unusual(although I know a couple from highschool dated from grade 7 to married so..not unheard of). I'd even go so far as to say they have a "unique" story. Well, semi-unique (G&G). But having a very strong very young very adorable marriage is nothing that is beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals.

  4. The pictures from the Christmas in Quebec slay me. Scott couldn't look enthused if he tried. Scott, you're spending "Christmas" with your long distance amour! Cheer up, buddy.

    1. Makes me think they MUST think they're way bigger stars than they actually are or even could be. Like I mean photoshoots on location, who would go to all this trouble? It's beyond bizarre. And for all their "creativity" it's still so amateur hour. YAY Skate Canada

    2. I don't know that I'd mind playing the role of fake gf if it included all these free on location expeditions. Not to mention getting mentioned once in a while in the media that I'm the gf of a reigning Olympic champion, plus receiving special consideration from my sports' Federation...all of it handed to me on a silver platter.

Not a bad gig at all.
