Meryl exits this 1.5 twizzle on a shallow back inside edge and got Level 4.
Getting your level can make a difference between silver and gold. The tech callers never miss the opportunity to throw Virtue and Moir under the microscope, and never mind what else they're doing that buries the competition.
Here is Meryl exactly as she exits the first key point.
Thanks to the comment below I'm looking at the next key point to see where Meryl exits. Meryl exits both key points back on her blade.
Key Point 2 (amended thanks to comment below this post).
To orient ourselves visually, blade wise, look at Charlie's blade - where his blade is on the ice. It's forward. Meryl is not on the forward part of her blade. She's quite clearly back. If we look at her boot's orientation to the ice, she's not on an edge either, but let's not say 100% because of the straight on angle.
OC, that's actually the 1 1/2 twizzle out of Key Point 1, not key point 2. The 1 1/2 twizzle for key point 2 is about 5-6 seconds later.
ReplyDeleteThe twizzle in key point 1 is supposed to be on a left forward outside edge. If that particular 1 1/2 twizzle is supposed to be on a left forward, why is Meryl coming out of it on a shallow back inside edge?
I don't have a real high quality video of DW's SD from SA. It looks like she starts off on the correct edge, but ends up on an inside edge in the end.
The second key point? In the screen caps she comes out of it back on her blade. It doesn't appear as if she's on an edge, either (in fact if you look at boot/blade/ice in relation to each other she's clearly not) but we'd need a different angle to be 100%. I've put caps up, and thanks.
Deleteisnt it amusing that d/w make a mistake on a STw get a level three but one judge still gave them 3 GOE??
ReplyDeleteThey should never get +3 GOE due to the truncated blade run, the fact that they're pushing their edges in instead of working up from their blades, the lack of speed compared to VM, and the lack of ice coverage compared to VM. Their step sequences have become labored.
Deletetheir step sequence was slow as hell at nhk im surprised it didnt get like 1 GOE

DeleteSo are you going to post this on the ISU Facebook page, or send it to Skate Canada, tweet it to PJ, or something? Isn't it time fans confronted the ISU, media, and judges and let them know we aren't as stupid as they'd like to think we are?
And of course, the idiots at Eurosport offered nothing in the way of actual technical analysis, and were falling over themselves, and basically crowned D/W unbeatable in Sochi:

Wow - the Shibs again lowballed in the PCS department. Check out the PCS for both CL and IK...I won't go into DWs overscoring - but holycrap this is starting to get ridiculous - all the PCS scores have no more variety then 1.00 all across - so basically if you are a team in the 7s - it's 7s all across - what bullshit is this...if this is not where the biased judging is happening then I don't know what is...
DeleteI agree with the Shibs marks, though. They have very little ice coverage and even when they are doing their footwork, each edge looks very small, same with C/L.
DeleteThe scores are ridiculous as always. The Eurosport commentators once again showed that they lack the knowledge and that pathetic attempt to feign chemistry between them is sickening. Of course the judges will go for it and Tanith will be getting excited about it
ReplyDeleteA friendly little message from mia joy for those of you who feel the need to actually acquaint yourselves with silly little things like rules and proper technique:
ReplyDelete"Maybe because we don't have to take anyone's programs apart in order to truly appreciate their skating and talent or to prove their mistakes. For some reason, you do. That's ok but that's your thing. Apparently V/M fans have a lot of free time.
Besides, it's not like anything we say is gonna change your mind about D/W. You are already prejudiced. You already think they're crappy skaters. Just like nothing you say is gonna change our mind about D/W. To each their own."
She's one of the least joyful people I've ever encountered.
DeleteShe just posted this:
Delete"The thing I don't feel the urge to take snapshots and go into detailed technical analysis does not mean I can't come up with anything to support D/W. It's just I'm not into this kind of discussion. And I'm not gonna do it just because you tell me to."
so she's "just not into this kind of discussion"? the kind that is based in actual facts?
