Maybe business isn't the best graduate degree right now

Saw this in tumblr; something about it gets near why I think Tessa and Scott's nonsense is going to have a head on collision with a cultural shift. We already know what Tessa thinks "business" is. She's half of a genuinely in love married couple with authentic chemistry whose core business strategy weaponizes that chemistry against their fan following.

I really wish fans would rebel. Whether they believe the truth or not, I wish they'd stop critiquing stuff based on their speculation about Scott and Tessa's personal lives and notice how routinely they're jerked around.

  1. Soon all VM fans will move on to ship another couple and there will be no one to troll.

  2. Let's hope. In the past, when fans have quieted down and just let things be, Tessa and Scott have thrown a stink bomb into the mix. They have built their entire brand on fans supposed dysfunctional obsession with them. Maybe they should have tried to build in other facets. This "we don't talk at all and I'm with my MAGA first partner and she's with a meathead misogynist" isn't the route I'd have recommended but who am I.

    1. I have a feeling they're going to change the narrative soon again. Scott didn't say anything about the wedding, but wants Tessa back on the ice and Tessa talks about a new friendship with Scott.

    2. Apparently some of his fans think he and Mascarin are living on a "farm". I wonder if it's the same farm the reality show borrowed from local friends so Scott could act out his country boy bona fides. It was sad.

Although in his promotional interviews he called it "The rural areas of Ontario."

    3. Here's the footage implying a farm life, if you haven't seen it: https://youtu.be/FGgOvQQ2V-A?t=89

    4. Thanks. My guess is it's the Ingliss farm, in a "Rural part of Ontario" that was used for Scott and his "buddies" to roll on on ATV's, shoot stuff (don't know what) and pee while Cassandra sat in one like a bump on a log and they guys leered while referring to Tessa and ice dance.

He ain't a farm boy. Why do people think Mascarin road tripped up from Florida and is staying with him?

    5. They do own a house and land in the country now—it is in the public property records under Scott’s name. They bought it after Sochi.

They also own the lake cottage (with Kate, I think ) as a weekend/vacation getaway spot for the whole family to use.

    6. More to the point, he and Tessa are not Green Acres. He's not Eddie Arnold to her Eva Gabor. They are very closely aligned in their interests, tastes, and way of life. He has way more sophistication, if far more well read, and far more reflective.

    7. No, they are not Green Acres types. I grew up in a rural area—plenty of people who are not farmers own big, fancy houses out in the country, surrounded by land that they do not in any way farm themselves. I’m just saying it is documented in public property records that there really is a house and land in the country that was bought after Sochi.

While I do agree that they are not Green Acres, I would like to throw out that many/most current day farmers are not Green Acres types either. Many are college educated, well-spoken, well-dressed, travel, etc. It requires a lot of intelligence, hard work, and dedication to run a successful farm. Being a farmer does not equal uneducated bumpkin.

That said, they have multiple times tried to pass Scott off as an uneducated bumpkin to contrast to educated and sophisticated city girl Tessa.

    8. I hate the portrayal of farmers as rubes when one considers the level of financial and technical sophistication that goes into the agriculture sector, not to mention the level of education as you mention. The Green Acres reference was to the image VM are putting out. They play into stereotype, and that is pitched towards fans who see him and Tessa as country mouse and city mouse. He practically had a straw in his maw in the link posted above. The good old boys display they put on in the reality show was every stereotype under the sun. So, to clarify, I'll say he's not THAT guy. Look at the link above. Slouched in a chair in a field wearing a cap behind a flatbed truck piled with wood scraps. Did he stop short of spitting chaw - I couldn't watch the entire thing. Maybe if the video ran longer he'd give himself a stretch, pull out his bb gun and pop some beer cans off a fence.

It's their contrived image I'm talking about, not the reality of farming.

  3. Why are you so sure they will change the narrative or tell the truth? They never say it in 10 years ( even if sometimes Scott said something , restless Tessa ;) ) I don’t understand why they have to tell now .. he avoid the wedding due to covid but without the virus he would already married

    1. I'm not saying they'll tell the truth. Let me break it down.

The narrative. They switch up the narrative all the time. Just go through each era, and you can see how they change up their story when they have a new agenda. That's a pattern. Go through the blog and it's chronicled with receipts over 9 years (them saying THIS then saying THAT. Them telling THIS story then telling another story that contradicts the story they told shortly before.). When we (me and other commentators) talk about changing the narrative right now, we mean they've been doing the separate lives, don't talk narrative, Scott on the farm, Tessa in the city (that's their reality show personas) and Scott with the poorly chosen faux relationship (and Tessa's influencer lane is poorly chosen too).

All it took to take down Jessica Mulroney, a woman who had her ass kissed 24/7 on social media and was never challenged by a single media person, was one social media influencer breaking ranks. As soon as she did, along came others validating that Jessica Mulroney sucks. That was all behind a wall until ONE person broke ranks. It was no secret she sucked. It was just not "out there." When it was out there, others followed.

    2. I've noticed on the Moir Skate shop IG Cara Moir has been treading gently, all love and kindness, shouting out VM, all kind of a pull back from what she's done before. She would never have bothered proving herself to Tessa's fans before. I don't think Tessa would have wanted her to for that matter.

Last year or whenever the Mascarin thing happened it was here's the announcement, hijacking all the work event planners put into the Hall of Fame Honor and reducing it to a prop. I suspect the narrative change will be now Scott and Tessa will reveal they've been in touch, "never say never" about getting back on the ice, and they will do some heavy sucking up to fans, working the unassuming, charming, pseudo-candid part of their personalities. None of this will involve coming clean. They'll modify the tone and approach towards how they're presenting their relationship now and how they treat fans.

Without COVID he would NOT be already married to Jackie. He's been married to Tessa since 2009. They could easily have done a COVID socially distanced charade wedding. This thing is NOT going to be big even if they decide to fake it because nobody outside Moirville is touching it and because it's fake. The fake wedding they'd have had a photoshoot about wouldn't have been much different even without COVID. WE don't even know if they intended a phony photoshoot but I've long ago realized they will go as low as it takes, if only out of spite.

    3. One more note- Jessica Mulroney went down fast. She was ostensibly well connected, but nobody mounted a vigorous defense. One article came in and said it was because she had very little social capital. She was someone who would (very stupidly) treat people dismissively and "less than" without knowing who they were, who they knew, what help or damage they could do to her reputation.

Scott and Tessa threw Marina Zoueva under the bus despite the reality that their loss in Sochi was a very obvious deal brokered by David Dore, bringing Skate Canada on board with Gadbois (SC desperately wanted a home grown, champion producing training center since all of its champions trained out of the country), the US on board with the DW gold, France on board with the 2014-2018 ice dance cycle handed over to Papadakis and Cizeron (who, without improving their skating an inch were elevated from low mid-pack to the top), and I guess we have to look at other disciplines to see what Russia got out of it. Nothing Marina Zoueva could do could have stopped the travesty of the Grand Prix final, the fuckery with VM's long (how the most spectacular element was taken out because the feedback was it "ruined the step timing"). It was expedient for them to grab the fan theories about Marina and play into it, a woman who had been their ally and in Carmen created a program she thought would establish VM's dominance for the next to cycles. In the end, she was fodder to them. Whatever deal was brokered was without her knowledge. I think there are people in Detroit who'd have things to say.

In their own way they use and discard. I think things like the Hall of Fame - the insensitive, oblivious attitude towards the event. They showcased how unimportant it was for them. It was just a stage setting for his engagement stunt. Imagine the home grown people putting it together and finding out the lack of consideration and how they were used. The entitlement.

Tessa also has a mean girl streak. Years ago on Scott's birthday she seemed determined not to acknowledge it on social media. Her account is public, it's for interaction with fans, she uses it to promote her sponsored content, but she seemed to have a bug up her butt, announced early in the morning she was up and running and failed to mention Scott's birthday in any way. That was acting out on her part. Fans wanted her to, so she didn't. This wasn't her private email her private life, her private anything. She wouldn't have that account or any followers without the VM brand.

IOW I think they've burned a few bridges and despite the "she's adorable!" "They're wonderful!" there are many people who no longer like them. That's going to come back to them.

  4. I think they will be ratted out against their will. They'll be either blindsided or get very short notice. In the past there was no way. In order to have credibility someone was going to have to identify themselves. A media person outing them would destroy their professional access and their quid pro quos with other media people, they wouldn't be trusted by the PR firms feeding them content and interviews; they'd be out in the cold and their livelihood would be in peril. Ordinary people who identified themselves while outing them (as they'd have to do) would be doxxed, harrassed, abused and attacked by trolls and the bot farms most PR firms keep on contract.

We are speculating that the truth will come out because someone not Virtue Moir will break ranks, expose them on social media (likely twitter, IMO) and put their name to it and the name will have credibility. That would never have happened before because celebrities were at the top of the social media food chain and the soft media reported only what version celebs wanted out there, and anyone who questioned that version was bullied, dismissed and mocked by bots, surrogates, flying monkeys, etc. But the times are changing, IMO. I am seeing a lot of push back on newer social media platforms challenging the celebrity hierarchy. Jessica Mulroney ran into that buzz saw. The authors of the Harry / Meghan bio were ripped to smithereens with copious receipts, their own words thrown back at them, and every bit of PR from the couple themselves is getting ridiculed. I think anyone who ratted out VM now or in the future would be far more protected than in the past because the lens from which VM were viewed has changed. Ellen DeGeneres was an awful person for years - why the pile on this year? People are sick of it. BTW, one of Tessa's previous instagram bffs, Chrissy Teigen, has run into a shitstorm and had to shutter a lot of her social media after years of being basically untouchable. What that's about, I'm not sure.

They will be exposed by someone else and that person will not experience the blowback they would have if they'd tried it in the past. Other people will instantly come in with receipts and that will be that.

    1. They been pulling this shit for over a decade so if someone outs them it will be very well deserved. And I hope that happens soon.

    2. The way they were headed I think they were gonna blow themselves up. We'll see if they actually move carefully now. They were pure arrogance before.I think Tessa dodged a bullet with Mulroney and that may not even be done, and the Scott/Mascarin thing is a kamikaze move.
