When Tessa Virtue was fat

Tessa Virtue has been fat twice in her competitive career.  The first time in Sochi:

She was called fat by numerous bystanders in figure skating, coaches of competitors, etc., all of whom are going to burn in hell for it. I wonder what ALL of them got out of parroting the party line. Their teams didn't get dumped? Their teams got a boost? What?

After Sochi, she wasn't fat anymore. Then as soon as Virtue and Moir returned to figure skating, she was immediately fat again when VM began competing against Papadakis & Cizeron.

Fat. Not really fat for a PERSON, but
for a skater, come on.

You want to look like this:

The ideal skater and dancer bodies.
As ever, words cannot describe.

Maria Tallchief. Once married
to George Balanchine, which
is odd because he was the main
guy who influenced the ballerina
wraith, launching a generation
of eating disorders, drug abuse and
nicotine diets. His era of influence
waning, body-type wise.

Darci Kistler in her prime. If she had
only been a wraith, perhaps she'd have
been more successful.
Ashley Bouder, principal dancer with
the New York City Ballet. She's fun.
Look her up.
Julie Kent. Principal dancer with
the American Ballet theatre 1993-2015.

  1. I think Scott and Tessa's sd and fd in Sochi were even better (if that is possible) than their fd in 2010 and sd/fd in 2018. Stunningly beautiful performances and sheer perfection. They are so much better than any of their 'competition'. It is ridiculous that they finished second.
Who started this fat rumor in the first place?

    1. uh oh no way man seasons was their worst freedance after funny face and their most boring one. SD was arguably one of their best along with their prince SD so i will give you that.

    2. I favor the fd in Sochi because it was performed with such intricate beauty and technical perfection. Who else has the ability to effectively interpret those Russians composers? No one. They never stopped in that performance, it was incredibly difficult and with such detail. I didn't like Funny Face (or Scotts white shirt) at world's in 2012 as much as Funny Face as performed in Colorado a few months prior. Mahler in 2010 had a few moments ofbriefly standing still that I thought made it look not as difficult (still loved it and also their OD and CD). Or may be they just made it look easy. Their Value Triste in 2007 should have garnered them a medal. Their performance in 2011 worlds should have won them gold. Almost all of the ice dancers look clumsy and awkward compared to Virtue and Moir. As for their fd in 2018 I preferred it earlier in the season before they made changes, but do think that the changes they made helped secure the gold just because the judges likely wouldn't have appreciated the nuances of their quieter ending, interpreting death and loss of love. They would have made any excuse like that to give it to the French, whose FD was nothing special, mediocre at best and a deeply distracting sd. But karma won out. As for Davis/White they were painful to watch. Boring, ungraceful with Meryl's legs spread open all the time, no chemistry connection, poor blade edge use and scampering to keep up with their frantic performance.

    3. I agree, 9:02. I love the step sequences in the Seasons. The shine shine my star exhibition with the seasons choreography was also great and it was really special to see them skate to that music.

  4. Gabby has the body of a rythmic gymnast not a ballerina. ballerinas don't have scrawny thin little weak legs they have tone and strength to them. good Ballerinas also don't slouch and rely on their much stronger partner to cover up her blatant obvious mistakes *oops*!

  5. It's not just about Tessa. Russians really believe you need to be extremely thin to be an ice dancer or a ballerina. Alicia Faabri and and Marjorie Lajoie were called fat on youtube. Elena Ilinykh has been called fat by Staviski. Tarasova called Madison Hubbell and Alla Loboda fat. Loboda/Drozd and Polishuk/Vakhnov separated because of the girls' weight. Irina Lobacheva said that she advises girls to not eat. It's the same in ballet. Yulia Stepanova from the Bolshoi is considered too heavy to lift.
