New Tweets From Tessa

Tessa Virtue has been in a sharing mood. Almost an oversharing mood. Who'd have guessed that she'd jump into twitter at all, let alone that she'd launch with the swimsuit issue:
Do you think Scott's seen this picture? For
years he's paraded himself in his swim trunks
on social media, while Tessa not so much.
She won't even attend the same events
Scott attends if the event is near a beach.
Turns out we're all allowed to see it; it's only Scott
who's not. Good thing Scott's not on twitter.
She looks great in what is no doubt a current photograph, considering she also tells us that for a straight month, this has been her diet:

I don't know why she tweeted about going into the gym, suggesting she needs to compensate for the booze and sweet tooth. Look at Tessa in that swimsuit. Our assumption must be that the swimsuit photo is current, and we know the "I've been pigging out all month so I'm glad to get back to the gym!" tweet is also current, but how can the sleek photo AND the pigging-out-get-back-in-shape thing both be current? She's magic.

Well, even if she is a bit out of shape, super high heels are slimming:

$295 CAD. I think she and Piper Gilles are
fated for a beautiful online friendship.
A lot of ladies eschew heels when they're pregnant. And until the very end, a whole bunch of pregnant ladies wear heels straight into the delivery room.
Posh could manage heels while
pregnant, but Tessa is no Posh.
(Or Kate Middleton, who also
wore heels when pregnant)
Tessa started off the summer drinking wine and pigging out on French pastries while posing in a bikini in a way that appears to contradict all the wine and pastries she claimed to have scarfed down, but hey, she's young and an Olympian. I certainly don't think that photo is older or anything.

The real point of this post is a few of Tessa's upcoming tweets came my way, and I thought I'd share them here:

I'm going to put out something else I think: 1) I don't think Tessa's midsection up there is actually on the same plane as her swimsuit bottoms; 2) where is her belly button ring - is it dim because of the filter used on the photo or is it gone; 3) the actual naval is a different size than previous shots we've seen of Tessa.

  1. I admire Tessa for her athletic and dance ability and her fantastic skating. I can't stand the thought of an endless stream of airhead tweets about fashion, high-end shopping, Paris, wine, pastries and the like.

Isn't she supposed to be a role model for regular kids? Very few *real* people have the means to live her kind of lifestyle. (Shut up, Please!)

    1. Well, a lot of skaters are less than sensitive on twitter. I've yet to see anybody top Meryl Davis (except Meryl Davis) when she tweeted about some report saying Detroit's residents had the lowest level of happiness or satisfaction, and she wondered if they'd ever heard of Ann Arbor. Jesus Christ, shut up, Ms. Lake Behind My House. Not to mention there is a HUGE income disparity in Ann Arbor itself, not just in Detroit. Those who do well in Ann Arbor do very well, but the income inequality in Ann Arbor has been rising rapidly. That means it's rich and poor, no middle class. I guess unless Meryl Davis needs to appropriate poor people's struggles in a vague way for her persona, they're invisible to her. People who are insulated from struggle need to be extra sensitive and need to shut up. Piper has been appalling. Meryl Davis was appalling. Tessa Virtue would be better off not joining them.

    2. Just because few "real" people have the means to live her lifestyle doesn't mean she shouldn't tweet about it. Maybe she can inspire some kids to make some money so that they too, can live her lifestyle.

    3. Tessa's also said things like how she admires Kate Middleton for wearing accessible fashion, because who can't afford Zara! Tessa, there are people who can't afford H& friggin M. The cost of living is high, real income has dropped. That doesn't simply mean people can't splurge on dinners in nice restaurants and shop at freaking Zara. It means they don't eat out and don't shop.

It's not like everyone in the sport is well off. Yes, many people who are in the sport come from well off circumstances, but plenty don't. We've heard their stories too. In fact, Tanith Belbin comes from such a background. Does this stuff not just register with some of the more privileged skaters?

This has bugged me since I saw video of some fans attending an autograph session by the CSOI cast in 2010, including Scott and Tessa. These fans were extremely polite, not over-familiar, and very appropriate. Scott asked if they were attending the show. They said no. They thought it was sold out. By their embarassment, it would have occurred to almost any moron that they couldn't afford CSOI tickets (SOI shows apparently feature huge segments of empty seats wherever it tours) and were embarrassed to admit that they wanted to get an autograph anyway. It's embarrassing because the autograph was free, but clearly the signing was a promo event for the show. Scott made none of these connections. He said he was sure it wasn't sold out and encouraged them to call.

Scott. Not everybody is stupider than you are. That's not always what's going on.

I've never forgotten that. These people have media training but you can't train empathy.

    4. Inspire people how? Inspire people to be born into well off families who can subsidize enormously expensive training? You think earning the kind of money that means disposable income for dresses close to $1,000 and shoes in the hundreds of dollars is a matter of being inspired? Is that the lesson of the Olympics?

She doesn't have to be fake, but tact and sensitivity is always a good idea. Furthermore, why does she have to tweet about it? She seems perfectly comfortable NOT tweeting about a whole bunch of other realities in her life.

    5. Honestly, the number of people in North America who can't afford H&M is probably pretty small -- especially considering every where you look these days, everybody owns a smartphone! How the heck are people buying smart phones and affording the phone plan?? And then owning a computer at home and paying for internet?

    6. By the way, I think anybody can deduct that the Shibutanis come from extremely comfortable circumstances. I've yet to see a tweet or video from them that doesn't choose to reach for common ground instead, that is just about experience, not lifestyle. It doesn't seem to require huge effort on their part either.

      Delete
    7. 6:52 I'd do a little research if I were you.

      Delete
    8. The point of this criticism is how about reaching for common ground in your tweets, since communication and outreach is the point of tweeting. Share your experiences, not your lifestyle. There's a difference. Look at the world around you and share THAT. The Shibs manage to do it.

    9. Wow. Now her tweets are sub-standard? Its a TWEET - who cares!!!! My god EVERYONE tweets where they are...what they are eating or drinking...what they like in clothing....do you live under a rock?? No! You simply critisize CONTINUALLY!!! She could tweet the weather and you would try to prove her a liar or make up a mini novel as to why she tweeted the weather? So utterly stupid.

    10. Tessa started tweeting on the eve of a charity event for two charities. It's bracketed by I just spent a month in France scarfing down wine and pastries and look at the $290 shoes I love. That's nice. A few tweets about the actual charities would also have been nice. The ISC could use the good publicity; they can't even tweet effectively about themselves. Their past tweets have been "the best way to show support for Scott and Tessa is to give us money" and to show contempt for Scott and Tessa's public at the same time. This was a good opportunity to turn some of it around.

6:58, it seems to me this isn't your sort of blog. Don't blow an embolism or something. There's lots of places where people think everything VM do is terrific.

      Delete
    11. P.S. - Tessa and Scott aren't the only ones who have been criticized for their social media tone. It has nothing to do with a skater's income or lifestyle and has more to do with inclusiveness - if you're tweeting to the public, tone deaf isn't great. There are plenty of well off skaters, athletes and others who manage it. Jeff Buttle is a great example. There's no need to pretend to be oblivious to anybody outside your income bracket (like Meryl) until the time comes when you want to appropriate the suffering of the poor for your narrative (Meryl and Charlie). There's no need to post publicly about how embarrassing it was when you saw a homeless person with your brand phone (won't name them). There's no need to completely contradict everything you've attempted to say about yourself in the past year (Pipe Gilles encouraging a friend to boycott the opening ceremonies with her, and then openly rooting on Davis and White in dance).

These tweets are part of their p.r. It's perfectly okay for the public to critique what's aimed their way - ANY segment of the public is free to do so.

      Delete
    12. It's a tweet! Who cares! I find your apparent anger and annoyance about these things ridiculous, so I will get angry and annoyed by what I feel is your anger and annoyance! That'll show 'em!

    13. I'm looking forward to hearing all about the new Tessa and Scott fanfictions written by the dupes who buy their lies. Those mini novels are clearly okay. Criticizing a tweet, however. SO TOTALLY OFF LIMITS AND ANGER-INDUCING! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

    14. "Share your experiences, not your lifestyle. There's a difference. Look at the world around you and share THAT. The Shibs manage to do it."

      Exactly!!

I love Tessa to death. She's charming and cute and yes, very very high-end fashionable. But she doesn't have a clue. Regular folk can't just get on a plane and spend a month in Europe, let alone shop for clothing that costs more than $100 (US dollars). I can barely afford to visit my parents once every two years because they live on the other side of my country and I am by no means considered "poor." Not that this has anything to do with me, but I am representative of a norm that is far removed from the Virtues.

The Shibs are a great example. They come across as genuine and empathetic with normal people. They do obviously lead a privileged life but that's nowhere in their PR.

    15. The top three most over snobby, annoying, insensitive skaters in my book on social media would have to be
      1. Tie between meryl and piper (Dare I say piper a little more because of her shading p/I which i found rather distasteful)
      2. Patrick chan (for obvious reasons *cough*)
      3. The shibs (The stupid vlogs they do of certain skaters who clearly don't want to be in them and their patriotism is just towards their country is cringe worthy)

    16. "Just because few "real" people have the means to live her lifestyle doesn't mean she shouldn't tweet about it. Maybe she can inspire some kids to make some money so that they too, can live her lifestyle."

I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. If this is what VM wish to inspire, it's pathetic. Kids need to be inspired toward *character values.* Not for the money. If that's a by-product, fine, but it shouldn't be the message nor the goal. I hope VM understand that they are role models to inspire character, not a fashionable lifestyle.

      Delete
    17. Disagree about the Shibs. They are brilliant on twitter and use it the way it should be used by Olympic athletes (which includes being patriotic). They're so good at it, they ought to lead seminars for other skaters.

    18. Oh my god at @7:38 I thought I was the only one who found their vlog's just an awkward mess especially in the stars on ice one when they were filming in japan. joannie and javier looked so uncomfortable and just wanted to leave the room they were filming in while scott and patrick did this dumb mexican standoff in the background. I don't have anything against the shibs they seem like nice people but just cut back on the vlogs seriously.

      Delete
    19. Whatever about the Shibs vlogs. The point being made was that they don't focus on their lifestyle of money and the high-end fashion they can clearly afford. Their PR is relatable to "normal" people. Unlike Miss Virtue. Whether one personally likes what the Shibs put out is another matter.

I have a smartphone and a computer and internet at home because I need it for my JOB. You know, so I can eat and pay the bills to keep a roof over my family. 99% of the people I know also have these conveniences for the same reasons. And no, I do not shop at freaking H&M. For me that would be a waste of money that needs to go somewhere else.

      Geez. Get a clue.

    21. "Tessa Virtue would be better off not joining them." i dont see how tessa is stooping down to meryl's level? what's wrong with tessa giving back towards her community by promoting a small company?

    22. I find their vlogs good for new skating fans mainly to learn about other skaters and how ice shows work etc. but overall yeah they kinda are cheesy but not entirely stupid, anyways back to the topic of Tessa's twitter I though social media was a huge no no in moirville? I wonder what changed her mind? maybe she thought "to hell with this my career as an ice dancer is almost over i might as well join twitter while I'm at it since I have been hiding from social media forever!"

    23. I am willing to give Tessa some slack over her tweets. Tweets are sometimes targeted to different demographics...so perceptions are going to be different...overall I think the shibs do a decent job on twitter - they share photos, it appears genuine...but some of their vlogs seem forced to me...but then again I have felt the same way about other skaters' twitters as well...so no one is perfect...however do I question Tessa's timing in joining twitter and some of her motives...yes...

stop trying to micro manage tessa. She can tweet whatever the hell she wants. U get that, right? "A few tweets about....would have been nice"

How about this: YOU TWEET ABOUT charities and what YOU believe in and let her tweet whatever she wants?

How much time has the blogger and her alter ego anon self poster
spent at or promoting a charitable event ....ever? U clearly have a ton of time on your hands...very evident. Why not do something worthwhile? Volunteer some of the endless hour u have on a cause that is worthwhile and honorable.

Her tweets are aimed at fans. We're fans. We get to talk about her tweets.

Got that? This blog isn't about blogger's charitable giving. It's about VM and that's what we come to talk about. If you hate that you can go do something else.

    26. I personally am not bothered by the luxury side of Tessa’s tweets (I am bugged by the shamming). I consider myself middle class and quite frugal (I have never shopped at Zara or H&M, and I don’t own a smartphone) but it would never occur to me to feel like Tessa is bragging or shouldn’t show off some of her nice things. When photos are posted of Tessa at an event, the fans (and I’m sure some of them are poor) generally ohh and ahh over her clothes and shoes. Fashion is something she’s known for. IMO there is nothing wrong with the jet set life if you can afford it, which the Virtues can. I can enjoy seeing a pic of her sexy new shoes because I’d never buy something like that but I like looking at them (the part about it that made me roll my eyes is that IMO the point was look at me, not wearing sensible shoes, because I’m not pregnant!). We already know she has money. I don’t think anyone has an obligation to hide it just like I don’t feel an obligation to hide the fact that I have a house and a car and a computer which some people can’t afford. In particular, IMO if one is following someone on twitter because that person is a celebrity rather than a friend, one would expect that the celebrity has more money than they do, nicer things, more travel opportunities, etc, and might even enjoy seeing the celeb enjoy those things because a regular person can’t afford them. And to me, Tessa is a celebrity. She’s an outstanding ice dancer and I’m happy her family had the money to pay for her skating so I could enjoy watching it for years and that through a combination of her family money and her skating career she has the money to buy luxury items. IMO, she’s a lot more talented and deserving than a lot of actors, singers, and models who have much wealthier lifestyles. She is a genius at what she does.

That said, I respect the opinions of others – I’m not saying anyone shouldn’t have the reaction they do to those tweets. I’m just giving the other side of it.

As for the Shibs, I don’t watch too many of their videos, but what I have seen I found annoying. It just comes off as trying way too hard, the gist of it being “people say we’re boring, BUT LOOK WE’RE NOT BORING!!!” To me they come off like middle school kids doing a project, and they are still boring on the ice (that’s not an indictment – they are very skilled, and I am merely talking about my subjective opinion and lack of interest, which should have no bearing on their scores). Doesn't help that their vlogs get a lot of hype so I have higher expectations when I watch them.

Curious to know who made the homeless person smartphone comment – now that I find offensive, sheesh.

I'm actually kinda amused by this whole Twitter thing... I'd be lying if I said the shamming stuff wasn't annoying, but it's so obvious that it's comical...
They've definitely found a way get her to be very "present and visible", without her actually being visible. I'd almost venture to say this is a step up for them in terms of the way they handle the PR. And they can continue to do what they do so well, mixing and blending the truth with the lies, so that it all appears true and the fans can't differentiate since it's all presented on the same plane.

I also find it hysterical that KL already retweeted her. Just in case anyone missed the post where she was there... and yet both posts are worded in ways that are completely innocuous for actually confirming relationships. They're all just great friends and one big happy family!

    28. Tessa's tweets remind me of the stuff that's satirized on HBO's "Girls." I have mixed feelings about some of "Girls", but they have Tessa's sort of thing on blast. I don't, however, feel that Tessa is coming from the same place of intentionally back-dooring casual elitism or privilege that "GIrls" sometimes sends up. She's not trying to get a status edge, it's just her life, but it has a similar obliviousness. There's a difference between sharing some of your great month in/experiences in Europe (look at this view, look at the beautiful water, what a sunset, look at this gorgeous lobby (or veranda, or whatever), and being "OMG, I'm so out of shape I need to get to the gym after a month in the south of France gorging on wine and pastries."

I know right? I also hate when I do that. I've got to stop!

On "Girls" one of the characters was trying to angle herself into the art scene as an assistant, after a few years spent trying hard to cultivate people in that world, make an impression, with not a lot of success. She had a scene with another girl/friend her same age who was just EXHAUSTED and so stressed from planning the opening of the gallery her parents bought for her she just had to get to the spa.

These things wouldn't be easily satirized if there weren't something to them. This IS normal to Tessa. But it plays a whole lot like the people satirized on comedies - the "doesn't everybody?" person who makes a point of coming off like everybody else (I'm SO tired, I'm so stressed, I'm so out of shape), so that they can drop the part that sets them apart from everybody else (i.e., from my national book tour/from trying to decide on a designer for my new loft/from partying with Pippa). I don't think it's intentional by Tessa, but I think it shows she's out of touch.

    29. Re: KL and Tessa - Moirville is reactive. They've appeared to react to the blog in the past, among other things to which they've reacted when it comes to the sham. When Scott was shamming with Cassandra, the blog hosted a lot of speculation that Scott was enjoying the opportunity to fake cheat, to kiss someone not his wife, to play with the idea of being with another woman, and to act out and be an exhibitionist.

Here, there so far appears to be a concerted effort to go the exact opposite way. There's nothing sleazy. Tessa and KL obviously know each other and think the other is GREAT. Nobody is doing anything covert or gross.

I don't know, the sham has been like this before, almost double-pronged. Shamming it up, but also on a subtext level sending the message that everything's above-board. With Jessica, they did this rather belatedly, introducing Tessa into the mix at the very end of the sham. Here, they're doing it from the top.

      Delete
    30. 10:38 - Yes, Tessa's tweets are aimed at fans; we're fans, we get to talk about them. I don't get some fans, except that maybe they, typically, overempower themselves and think they have all this power over the skater, and that their behavior will chase away the skater or otherwise discourage the skater from doing stuff in public where the fans can see them. It's a fantasy. Fans don't have that power. The public figure already knows all about fans.

As some of this comments section has been about status, etc., I love how fans both elevate and demean their own status. Demean their status because apparently it's just fine for Tessa and Scott to talk about fans, mischaracterize fans, and lie about fans. ALL THE TIME. But fans can't critique what Tessa and Scott do that's aimed at the freaking public. Fans elevate their status when they think they have influence on the skater and if they behave a certain way, it will produce a certain reaction in the public figure. It's kind of contradictory, actually. Some fans have to entertain self-cancelling ideas. One idea is, the public figures don't actually take much notice of fans, so all of the stuff we see them do in public is real. They're not conscious of being observed, we're seeing real stuff. Simultaneously, public figures must be hyper-sensitive, so fans have to be 'good' lest they chase them away. Or are these two things connected? Maybe the fans think that the only time Tessa and Scott are aware of fans is when they're criticized, and if these fans can control other fans and make them shut up, Tessa and Scott will forget fans are watching and will continue to do all that real stuff in public that they do.

      Delete
    31. ^While Scott and Tessa have appeared to calibrate some of what they do to how they've read fans (for example, totally lifted the Cassandra/Scott/Tessa storyline from fan fic and message boards, ditto the Marina/DW stuff, and ditto the supposed "we're opposites!" meme), that's manipulation. That's Scott and Tessa using fan vanity to manipulate fans. Yes yes, you're right, that's exactly how we are!

    32. "Here, there so far appears to be a concerted effort to go the exact opposite way. There's nothing sleazy. Tessa and KL obviously know each other and think the other is GREAT. Nobody is doing anything covert or gross."

Yes, I'm curious to see how long it goes on in this way. I do think it makes a difference since they all truly seem to be genuine friends. And I also feel like maybe KL agreed to participate if it was done more on this level. I don't want to get my hopes up (and it's all still completely ridiculous and asinine no matter how they do it), but it does seem a little more "grown up" in the way they're shamming, if that even makes sense... yes, I realize that is an oxymoron... So far, there's been implications by T and KL, (no S, as far as I know?), but anything they've done or said can be traced back to nothing at all. I know they've done this kind of thing before, where it's nothing they themselves have actually said (getting fans or Moirville to do their dirty-work), but eventually something is put out there (pics, etc.) by them. That's what I'm still waiting for, but it would be a lot more pleasant if they would continue as such, (and would have been very different, IMO, if they had run the previous shams like this is well- potentially they would have had more success being somewhat "believable". )
Maybe it's because LM is getting older and can start to see things and have questions in the present.
      We'll see, I guess.

    33. "Yes, I'm curious to see how long it goes on in this way. I do think it makes a difference since they all truly seem to be genuine friends."

I don't know if the difference has anything to do with real dynamics. We don't know if the dynamics are any friendlier or more real/genuine than Cassandra, as far as friendship. The tone is part of the sham. I don't think the Cassandra tone was a reflection of who she was or her relationship to Scott and Tessa at all. That was a Virtue and Moir Production, tone included. We saw that in the reality show.

IOW, I don't think the tone or presentation of the sham is driven by how these people actually relate to each other. I think the reality show blew to smithereens any speculation along those lines. The previous tone was the tone Virtue Moir/Moirville wanted, and the participants (including Cassandra) presented themselves accordingly. One thing the reality show set out in neon was that the icky overlay wasn't accidental. It was put in there on purpose.

This new tone, too, is a Virtue and Moir Production, that obviously Kaitlyn Lawes (and other athletes this time) had to agree upon. She's more than a hired stunt girlfriend. Obviously, Virtue and Moir had to agree that this is the tone as well. The tone actually seems more consistent with how Kaitlyn has been in public than Virtue Moir, so maybe she's setting the template.

you're forgetting about one thing, 5:27 (because ofc you can wear heals during a pregnancy). tessa is an athlete with a history of leg issues. remember when everyone freaked out @ 4cc gala after the stoppage because she wasn't wearing heels? for some fans, not wearing heels = she is in pain again because of compartment syndrome.

    35. 10:24 - Tessa has been photographed in heels a billion times since her last bout of compartment syndrome. Personally, I don't think skyscraper heels are attempting to drive home that it's in the past, particularly as they're skipping the first half of next season.

I agree no one has "proven" Tessa is pregnant. But there is certainly enough there to produce educated speculations.

She was pregnant once before and we have a record of how she looked at that time. If people feel they are seeing a lot of the same things it's perfectly fine to talk about it. It's not like those moronic fanfictions elsewhere on the web that make things up out of thin air.

Please feel free to join the discussion with logical reasons to back up your point of view. That's what I see the others doing who think she may be pregnant.

7:51, and where is this child? Why has no one leaked this info to the press? The press loves a good scandal. The media has been itching for a Nancy/Tonya scandal in skating again.

2: questioning a person's existence because information about that person hasn't shown up in the media. Since that's how life works. If no one tweets about you, you probably don't exist!

    8. 7:59 and 8:15 you might want to go back several posts to where OC was going on about him being spotted drunk all over the place.

This is not about tweets. This about the fact that no one in the media has ever reported on there being a child. The media loves scandal. And yet they are supposedly protecting Tessa and Scott? Why? Amazing how this blog, is the only place that insists over and over that this child exists, yet there is no proof. Where is the proof of the child? Why has the media not covered it? Oh right, because this kid is fictional.

    9. Drunk = drug use? Oh, I see. It's like the harder you try, the harder you fail.

And the media hasn't covered V/M's personal life to your satisfaction just because it annoys you. That's the only reason. It's not because the media doesn't out skaters' personal lives. Nope. It's not that!

I'm sorry you've ever either bought into V/M's lies or you're trying to spread those lies for them. Either way, you're a dupe.

      Delete
    10. What scandal has the Canadian media uncovered about a public figure's personal life? Surely VM aren't the only ones with secrets and yet the only example I can think of is Rob Ford, and that's a special case.

      Delete
    11. Right let's pretend that figure skating is not an international sport. This blog has accused USFS of being underhanded numerous times. Why hasn't USFS leaked it to the American sports media? After all, V/M trained in the U.S. Both Phil Hersh and Christine Brennan would have been all over the story if there was a child. They would have a field day if any of this was true.

      Delete
    12. 9:16, you believe that based on what? Christine Brennan is a groupie. She has skating insider sources - coaches and choreographers. She knows nothing about skating. She's not going to start exposing the stuff these people don't want out there. Her gig is being an insider with the trust of those insiders and telling US the point of view of her sources. She has none of her own because she hasn't bothered to learn anything about the actual sport.

You're just like a lot of ans, you have an untested assumption that happens to be completely wrong and uninvestigated, but rather than investigate that assumption, you simply decide it's correct. It's ridiculous.

Phil Hersch is a mainstream sportswriter who also knows nothing about figure skating.

The best way for any "secret" in the sports world to be uncovered is if that secret somehow intersects with the law. Then, just like with Tiger Woods, turns out everybody knows.

    13. 8:22 "7:59 and 8:15 you might want to go back several posts to where OC was going on about him being spotted drunk all over the place. "

If you want to participate in this comments section either improve your reading comprehension or stop mischaracterizing discussion. I'll summarize:

Over Victoria Day Weekend, there were tweets saying Scott was running around London with his friends acting like an asshole, got thrown out of a bar, some post even said he was coked up. Another said he and his friends were off the chain douchebag at a hockey game.

In the discussion on the blog, it was noted that, miraculously, none of the people eager to share reports of Scott's delinquent behavior had phones on them or managed to get a picture they could upload with their tweet or post.

The pictures that were uploaded from that weekend showed Scott somewhat wan and bleary-eyed posing with fans precisely as Scott has posed with fans the world over, when sober. He also was photographed doing a little karaoke, with a bunch of people aiming their phones his way. Funny how the people there had phones but nobody claiming to have witnessed his anti-social behavior had phones.

The blog pointed out that there have been drunk photos of Scott Moir on facebook for years (at a wedding, at home, on vacation, etc.), and him looking drunk is no sign of delinquency nor does it support drug use or any other anti-social/illegal or sleazy activity.

The blog also suspected, and continues to suspect, that Moirville wanted Scott's out-with-the-boys behavior that weekend publicized (he was just back from tour plus Tessa had just had a birthday), but since in the past it was always obvious that when there's a sudden flurry of tweets spotting Scott that it comes from Moirville, they set it up so the tweets had a somewhat negative construction, and therefore we'd think it couldn't come from Moirville. People of course forgetting that reports of their boy being raucous all over town isn't something Moirville would consider a negative. Scott felt it important to let the world know he'd been arrested, a detail both Christine Brennan and Phil Hersch failed to share, so Scott had to do it himself.

IOW, 8:22, the discussion about "drunk Scott" took place inside a particular context. Context is what provides meaning. Maybe "meaning" is an advanced concept for you, but until you get a handle on it, don't participate here.

    14. Well apparently you weren't around 20 years ago, because Christine and Phil were reported quite heavily on the knee scandal. And Christine was also willing to report on the number of AIDS deaths in the sport, no federation wanted that.

Yet no one reports on the existence of this child but you. I also find it interesting that Tessa apparently only gets pregnant following an Olympics. Does she just abort during other seasons? Is she just better at remembering contraception during other seasons?

      Delete
    15. 11:18, likening VM's child to the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding scandal in 1994 is a very poor comparison. "The Whack" happened in public after practice at US Nationals. There was criminal activity involved. One of the main contenders for the US title and the OGM that year was injured. It was a story that was not just sports news--it was mainstream news as well.

If Tessa had given birth to Little Moir in public at a skating event, it might have made the news, but it did not. There is also ZERO scandal about a married couple having children. NONE. Tessa and Scott were childhood sweethearts. They grew up, got married, had a baby, and now four years later, they're having a second one.

"I also find it interesting that Tessa apparently only gets pregnant following an Olympics."

Maybe because it's the timing that makes most sense for competitive figure skaters?

      Delete
    16. How the hell was the whack a private life "secret" exposed by Hersch and Brennan? It was a criminal event that happened in public.

How do you possibly equate that with the sorts of inside baseball, story behind the story that the media routinely keeps from the public?

Tiger Woods private life - not a secret to most who covered golf - blew open because the law got involved. After that, his string of extracurriculars lawyered up and started selling their texts from him.

Yeah, gets pregnant following the Olympics makes the most sense. The season directly after the Olympics is the least significant. The closer a season is to the Olympics, the more important it is to get your stuff out there. Each time Tessa and Scott were pregnant, it meant they'd miss the first half of the following season. That's better to do three seasons out from an Olympic season than two out.

      Delete
    17. 11:37 If it is a planned pregnancy then why hide the kid after birth? Tessa and Scott are not that famous. High profile celebs may hide their pregnancy for several months. But unless there is paternity question, not the actual child. There is no scandal in being married or having children. But why hide it? People tend to only hide if something is wrong. So assuming the there is a Chad, what is wrong that they have to hide it? Married couples in figure skating are not new. There is no logical explanation for secrecy. Except the obvious reality that there is no child.

      Delete
    18. The Kerrigan attack completely exposed a dark side of the sport. And it went on long after the Olympics ended.

According to you these are planned pregnancies. Why plan a pregnancy if you are not going to be doing the heavy lifting parenting wise?

The odds that they are going to return to competition are looking slim. They seem to have left Marina. There has been no confirmation of a new coach. And according to news reports, they would have to give SC notice that they are going to Nationals in September.

      Delete
    19. The Kerrigan attack happened in public. What dark side of the sport did it expose, pray tell? Tell me. What was the bigger story that we didn't know already? Please elaborate.

Oh I'm sorry, working parents don't have kids? When you factor in the commute, most working parents work, at least, five days a week, 9-10 hours a day (presuming an eight hour work day and in many place peopls actually have a nine hour work day).

If you want to apply your limited world view to Scott and Tessa, go ahead, but don't expect the blog to share it.

How do you calcluate the odds of their returning to competition, pray tell? The fact that Mike Slipchuk showed at the golf event? The fact that Skate Canada has backed off from forcing their retirement gold watches into their hands? The fact that months ago they announced they weren't competing for the balance of 2014 and the story hasn't changed? The fact that as they're not training for the first part of 2014 they're not in Canton?

Inside your head is not a reality test.

      Delete
    20. It's funny, Scott and Tessa didn't give SC notice in September that they weren't going to be at Canadians, but of course, SC knew they were pregnant. In September, everybody continued to pretend VM were competing the entire season. There is no way Skate Canada and Scott and Tessa wouldn't play by the rules this time around.

      Delete
    21. Mark my words, if VM are returning to competition, there will be no announcement until at least after September 1. It's July 15th and and SC doesn't need to know until the end of September. They still have over two months. I expect if they compete and if there's been a coaching change, it'll all be announced together at the end of September.

"According to you these are planned pregnancies. Why plan a pregnancy if you are not going to be doing the heavy lifting parenting wise?"

You're making an assumption there. The time committment to training, competing, and appearances is much like the time commitment to a full time job with some travel and having a few other obligations once in awhile. There are a vast number of two parent households were both are employees full-time, yet the parents are still doing the heavy lifting when it comes to parenting. Little Moir is cared for by her grandma when her parents are training, just like millions of other preschoolers over the years.

    22. I'll answer my own question - The Tonya/Nancy scandal helped generate a glut of skating specials and made for TV skating events and tours that oversaturated the market. I'm actually not sure Tonya/Nancy is responsible for that popularity increase, but figure skating "journalists" said it was, and come on, we know they always thoroughly research what they put out there - they don't just recycle their source's spin.

Christine Brennan wrote "figure skating books", among them Inside Edge and something called Edge of Glory which had a whole bunch of stuff cribbed from what Lori Nichols told her and which also recycled a lot of generic USFSA gossip (also from Lori Nichols) about judging and the Russians. Brian Boitano spoke to her a little bit too - I think he gave her the scoop that judges are sometimes nitwits. Stop the presses, Christine Brennan is giving Julian Assange a run for his money.

It was empty calories in a pseudo tabloid package. There was no "news" in either book. All she brought to her books was a "perspective" on stuff already in the public domain but that she framed using the spin given to her by those in skating with who she'd had developed relationships, and she became their personal conduit of their spin.

Here's some of the stuff she shared:

Parents of try-hard skaters sometimes burst into tears of joy when their kid makes it out of divisional skating into the national scene. Their kid is going to be in a Kiss'n'Cry!

Not everybody loves Michelle Kwan but everybody loves Frank Carroll. She doesn't explain how come everybody doesn't love Michelle. I think it was a generic observation as part of the whole investigatory/expose thing she was doing. Her big story was the camps behind different skaters sometimes resent each other and think stuff is unfair.

Nancy Kerrigan wasn't universally beloved - some people thought she was a little snippy and she and Scott Hamilton had some kind of tension over some joint venture (a show).

Brennan wrote a shit ton about Janet Lynn, mostly how floaty and effortless Janet Lynn was as a skater, and she ties her to Michelle Kwan, and she works very hard to create a story about Janet Lynn somehow being denied the gold medals her skating deserved, but the story never takes wing because when you get down to it Janet Lynn would fall on her ass even when the rules of a competition appeared specifically tailored to at last let her win a championship (great skater anyway, nobody disagrees). That was riveting stuff.

What else - a lot of Russian skaters did their programs towards the judges and used mostly the middle of the rink and some of the male skaters used music any North American knew was gay but they acted like they didn't know it. How can these guys even win stuff?

Tara Lipinski's mom was a little defensive. Some people think that if Michelle and Nancy had skated in reverse order Michelle might have won in 1998.

These were the big huge secrets Christine Brennan blew open in her book, and many more. Please don't confuse them with the conventional narratives everybody knew and talked about at the time.

      Delete
    23. P.S. - Christine Brennan has been living off the 1990s figure skating world ever since. Of course she's going to run off and tell the world about Scott and Tessa. Doesn't everybody soil the bed they sleep in?

    25. You're seriously going to try and compare the schedule of an Olympic figure skater to that of the average working parent? There is a reason why figure skaters typically wait until after they retire to have children. Because they know with their schedule, they wouldn't get the time they want with their child.

But in your fantasy world you have Tessa choosing to have not just one but two kids before she is 26. You can't explain why they would hide being married or hide having a child. You also can't explain why they would have kids now vs after they retire. You can't explain anything because you made it all up.

      Delete
    26. 3:55, give me a fucking break. Every figure skater, just like every athlete in this world, is different. But go on ahead making your sweeping assumptions about what all figure skaters would do in any given situation. It's comical and entertaining.

The person living in a fantasy world is you.

    27. "You're seriously going to try and compare the schedule of an Olympic figure skater to that of the average working parent? There is a reason why figure skaters typically wait until after they retire to have children. Because they know with their schedule, they wouldn't get the time they want with their child. "

"Because they know with their schedule, they wouldn't get the time they want with their child."

I'm sorry, you pulled that straight out of your ass. You have no idea what you are talking about, you've just decided that's the reason. You couldn't break down a skater's daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal and off season schedule/obligations in increments of time, nor say the total amount of time, if someone offered you a million dollars right this second.

I think you ought to look in the mirror when you talk about making shit up, Jesus.

Explain how all figure skaters are Olympic champions married to each other and therefore live together, share the same schedule, have a close extended family, won the Olympics at ages 20 and 22 months after being married (and in winning gold achieved a goal many other skaters work several Olympic cycles to reach, bringing them to their late twenties/early thirties), have plenty of money, but just don't have a kid because of time.

According to you, these circumstances don't factor into shit. The fact that many skaters wait because they have goals unmet, because their careers have had highs and lows, because they don't have the talent to achieve their life goal almost directly out of their teens - hand wave that off, 3:55.

USE YOUR BRAINS. Try and think of the difference in the challenges facing young parents/skaters with a long term stable relationship, financial security, and an Olympic gold medal in the trophy case, skaters who share every single aspect of their lives AND are at the top of their sport AND achieved their greatest dreams when young and have tons of money, against the challenges facing, say, an eligible singles skater who trains in Quebec while their husband or boyfriend plays hockey for Philadelphia. NO DIFFERENCE!! Time is time!

You do know not every skater in the skating world is married to and skates with their partner with whom they won the Olympics just a couple of years out of their teens, right? Or do you? Oh - you've x'd those factors out as worth considering?

Don't just say "they don't have the time!" You're presenting yourself as if you know what you're talking about. So go ahead. Break down their day. You know what a skater's day is like. Break it down. Break down the week, and the other obligations, assign time increments to them. Show how it's impossible to be parents. Do this for Scott and Tessa.

You do know Navka had a daughter prior to winning Olympic gold in ice dance in 2006, right? And she wasn't even skating with her partner. DID SHE BEND TIME?

What about G&G. Pre-internet, pre-email, pre-skype. Well, they already had an Olympic gold medal that they won as teens, so the rest was gravy. They were married for two years. They lived together. They were happy. Very importantly, they had family available to pitch in. Her parents were retired and supportive and able to look after their daughter when they resumed training. IF ONLY SCOTT AND TESSA HAD THE SAME ADVANTAGES!!!

      Delete
    28. 3:55 - It's Tuesday. Tell me what Scott and Tessa did yesterday and today.

      Delete
    29. Come to think of it, just about all the women I can think of who had babies and competed were married to someone who was working closely with them: Navka to her coach, and Gordeeva and Rodnina to their partners. I don't count Delobel since her pregnancy was pretty much admitted to be an accident. So yeah, that's a huge advantage V&M had over everyone else.

3:55, keep in mind that a lot of figure skaters, even at the highest levels, maintain full time school schedules or have jobs (inside or outside of the rink) - why couldn't they be parents too? Tessa and Scott work together during the day and have family who can take care of their kids, like any other parents.

Isn't this sort of sexist anyway? Evgeny Plushenko has like four kids (step-kids) included (and his wife has some kind of job in the entertainment industry) and I never once heard that cited as a reason he couldn't compete. Alexander Abt, Gheorghe Chiper, and Samuel Contesti all had young kids while they competed, and they also had to coach on the side because they didn't have a lot of money, and I'm pretty sure all of their wives also coached or were involved in their skating somehow, as they were often in the K&C with them. So that must have been impossible, right?

      Delete
    30. So, when the total destruction of 3:55's latest ridiculous assumption about what skaters can and cannot do or have time for is finished, what's the next silly supposition everybody here gets to take down?

I'm sort of hoping it's something more fun, like "Tessa and Scott can't be married with a child because Tessa is barren and Scott is impotent! I heard all about it from my friend who saw Tessa crying because of it at today's seminar!"

      Delete
    31. It's the way people show up in the comments section and just make shit up - MOST SKATERS DON'T HAVE KIDS BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TIME FOR THEIR KID! Unlike everybody else in the world that works regular jobs, jobs which allow PLENTY of quantity and quality time for their kids, what with both parents gone off to work about ten hours a day. Nobody with a real job ever has to travel, or has a single responsibility outside going to and from work during the day, and then spending every other waking moment (which is what, maybe four-six hours a day or am I pulling that out my hind end?) doing the "heavy lifting" with the fam.

Nope, figure skating is a UNIQUE time suck. Skaters must work FOURTEEN hours a day, and then come home and nap in hyperbolic chambers and stuff. Kids aren't possible

Yeah, THAT'S the reason many figure skaters don't have kids til they retire from the sport, which is often before they're thirty. It certainly isn't because, they're like - still in their twenties!! And it's not because they're training away from their significant other. (Of course they all have significant others they want to procreate with, but TIME is holding them back.)

Nope, 3:55 has it nailed. All skaters are married to the love of their life by ages 20 and 21, they've all won the Olympics already, they're all the best in the world with nothing left to prove, they all have large families, older siblings and plenty of resources. They're all JUST like Scott and Tessa but do you see them getting married and having kids now? NO! Therefore Scott and Tessa can't possibly be married with a kid and possibly another on the way! All the other Scott and Tessas in skating aren't! That proves it.

Are you sure, 3:55? Are you sure maybe they didn't necessarily PLAN on having a kid but they had one night of passion a few years ago, she got pregnant and they had the kid but were too ashamed to confess it to the world? Are you sure it's the time thing?

      Delete
    32. So they hide the child and forbid her to ever call them mom and dad in front of other people? Does she call Tessa her sister then? Does she think her grandmother is actually her mother. because this is what people did 50+ years ago. And they are so embarrassed about having had one child, then why have another secret one now?

You haven't proven that they are married. And based on recent press reports, they haven't actually seen each other much lately. Do Canadian skaters live in some bubble where they are never spotted anywhere? Because American skaters are spotted out and about quite often. Fans talk about having met them and they pose for fan photos. Do Tessa and Scott never take their daughter to the park or normal kid places to play? No, according to you she is just hidden away in shame.

So to some up, they are too ashamed of one another to admit to being married, they are ashamed of their child, so she remains hidden, and now ashamed to be having another child. That is a lot of shame. I hope they have scheduled a lifetimes worth of appointments with a psychiatrist to deal with that. Or maybe you should do that, it might help with the delusion that they are married and have a kid. .

    36. I'm still waiting to hear what it is exactly that Christine Brennan and Phil Hersch "exposed" about figure skating. If you go back, figure skating was big, Nancy and Tonya was a tabloid event as well as a figure skating event (Trash Queen goes after Ice Princess, even though both were actually working class), and books titled stuff like "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes" about the pressures gymnasts and figure skaters were under to maintain a certain weight, and that many of these athletes didn't have the daily regimen of your average little schoolgirl, which DUH. I imagine at the time it was supposed the general public thought gymnasts and figure skaters were magical fairies and the book set out to expose the brutal truth that a lot of hard work and pressure at a young age went into it, and of course, the girls needed to be a certain weight even though most athletes don't have to stay in shape or keep a certain weight, just skaters and gymnasts. Hard-hitting stuff like that.

What else was exposed? You know, the personal type secrets that the skaters didn't want out there but that Brennan and Hersch, being integrity-fueled investigative types, thought the public had a right to know? Stuff the skaters didn't tell them for the record?

  7. I will never understand the mentality of a rabid fan. While a harsh word, I feel it describes people that will attack anyone that dares to say anything negative about their “idol”. I understand appreciating someone’s talent. VM skating is incredible. What they do on ice is truly beautiful. You get transported somewhere else during their program. You fall in love with their characters. But that is their job – to make you fall in love with their story and their characters. Not everyone will feel that way – so your first response to someone not liking them is to attack?! Blindly. Unless you are part of someone’s life you don’t know anything about those people. OC tries to explain that – public vs private. Your professional persona is not the same as your home persona. You adjust your behaviour according to the setting that you are in. If you are a Canadian sweetheart, then that is who you are in public. TV might be a truly beautiful person but we don’t know. So.. are you ready to fight with a stranger over a stranger? If you are offended by the blog, stop visiting. There are a number of great Tumblr’s that show nothing but love to VM. If you sit down and read this blog you will realize that OC is in the category that loves VM but is not afraid to point out their inconstancies in interviews, appearances, etc. I feel this is one place that doesn’t look away when you hear an inconstancy in their stories. There is no uncomfortable eye shifting and laughing it off. Come on, who didn’t LOL on OC’s review of that “reality” show & witty pic descriptions or share rage at BS that is ice dance judging. Me, I will enjoy ice skating reviews/comparisons, chuckle at the dry humour and frankly ignore things that I might not agree with. Enjoy it for what it is.

They want to be uber naive fans, that's their prerogative. I don't troll them trying to get them to shut down.

It's astonishing, really, that you feel you have the right to tell this group of fans what they should be thinking and doing.

    3. This blog participant is confusing their assumptions with reality all over the place. Not pregnant! Clearly not retiring! Wouldn't have a kid - would wait til they were done with skating because real world jobs take up a whole lot less time! Blah de blah blah. Why space your kids to have them following the Olympics - I follow skating for x number of years and still somehow I don't see the sense!

      It's wonderful.

Your efforts to use anecdotal evidence rooted in your own personal assessments of what a pregnant woman does or does not look like, or can and cannot do at any given time, means nothing.

      She's pregnant.

This blog has been up and running for over 3 years. In all that time you'd think SC or Tessa's Dad, a lawyer, would have shut this down if it was indeed lies.

Also, if you read back through the blog, none of the blog's premises has been proven false. On the contrary, what I see over time is only more and more confirmation. Otoh, all the lies/sham, going back all that time and including the years before this blog began, are proven to be a joke.

I think it's a much safer bet banking on blog's premises about Tessa and Scott's personal status.

Come here and conduct a conversation with themselves in which they ask absolutely ignorant rhetorical questions, announce that the questions decisively prove the blog makes no sense, make up what the blog has said in the past, guess what the blog will say next, declare themselves the winner of the filibuster they just had with themselves, and retire to do it again.

  11. I think Tessa is young and lovely, and if she wants to tweet about inane subjects, what's the problem. She's a successful ice skater with a pleasant personality, but that us all. She doesn't owe her 'public' anything and it's childish to believe otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Can you please show us where the blogger has said Tessa Virtue "owes" the public anything? Because that hasn't happened.

What the blogger has said, and this is correct, is that Tessa isn't just tweeting about "inane subjects." There's an plan in place that's being acted upon, a hell of a lot of people have known about it for a long time, and a hell of lot more have figured it out over the years. Just because *all* of her tweets might not be used to spread the sham doesn't mean a shit ton of them won't be used that way. They will be. Some of them already have been.

Also, where does the "but that is all" part of your argument come from? That's quite an assumption. "Tessa Virtue is *only* the person she comes across as in the public eye, that is all?"

    1. Read the 6:20 comment and the bloggers response.

And yes, those that believe with all their hearts that there is a secret marriage and love child-good for you. Whether it's truth or fantasy doesn't matter. Tessa is not under contract to reveal anything of her personal life. Frankly, after following this blog, I think she could do a lot better than Scott.

      Delete
    2. In none of those responses did the blogger claim Tessa Virtue "owes" anyone, anything. They were criticisms of the content and tenor of the things she's chosen to tweet about. There is a difference.

Also, it is a fact that V/M are married with a child(where does the "love child" dumbassery come from?). No one has said Tessa should be under contract to reveal her personal life. What *has* been said is that she's using her twitter account to further the sham. That's also a fact.

      Delete
    3. Evidently you do not read for comprehension. I can't help you with that. If it makes your life more fulfilling to believe they are married, then go on with it. I only hope you have other interests in your life than creeping on figure skaters.

    4. Bahaha. Creeping, hmm? Nope, try again. I happen to know the truth about V/M's personal life. I'm sure there's photos of it and we'll see them, but I'm also sure that there's a reason Kaitlyn Lawes posted sham photos today, and a reason today people came in doing the "it's opposite day!" routine by insisting how slim Tessa looked.

    3. Haven't seen much yet from today (apparently there's another one tomorrow, so heads up) but seems a little too convenient to be coincidental re KL's montage... Also funny how it's on her instagram, but not on her Twitter, unless I'm missing something? Her description is trying too hard as well. She's as good at this as they are... (unless they told her what to write, which I could easily buy). Love the fake smiles and "looks like I'm touching her (but not really)" poses. In fact, in all the pics of them I've seen so far there are only two where they're actually touching each other... one being the selfie posted today and the other being the "official Facebook announcement". Not sure if that one counts though, since he's leaning away from her and towards the fan. Actually, two separate friends of mine (with no knowledge of this situation) have seen that one and thought the "girlfriend" was the fan (or friend plant), btw.

We're to believe she has not been on the ice at all for at least a month, maybe more, when this skating seminar (and apparently another tomorrow) has been on her calendar for ages? And it included a partial performance of Into the Mystic.

Yeah, smart business-woman that Tessa is, she apparently showed up at this gig without being properly prepared. I'm feeling insulted that I'm supposed to be buying her little stories with all their implications. And she's had a twitter account for less than a week!

It was today's Tessplanation of her current shape and size.

      Delete
    3. They can do plenty with little practice but this is Tessplanation. She's an overachiever in lying. Re-emphasizing that she's been away! Explaining her size and shape. And of course, what do fans know - of course a skater can walk straight onto the ice after a month away without even a bit of a warm-up prior, maybe run through a placeholder version of the exhibition program, maybe placehold the Goose (no matter how often you've done it, to keep it in your muscle memory you have to keep doing it, and to re-awaken muscle memory, you have to do it a few times after you've been away).

    4. After this recent byplay on the blog I now know the next time someone jumps in to say they saw Tessa today and she totally looks slim, it means that pictures are about to surface where she looks anything but. It's kind of obvious, but sometimes, you know, it needs to happen a few times before the "doh!" hits. The Kaitlyn pics were just a bonus. Anyone who was like, hmm, are my eyes deceiving me, or does Tessa look bigger? Only needed Kaitlyn's photos timed for today to go "Thanks Kaitlyn! Yep, she totally looks bigger!!"

      Delete
    5. The "Tessplanation" thing is significant because, as OC pointed out, Tessa is an overachiever in lying. So it's interesting that she has the twitter account because I suspect she won't be able to stop herself from overcompensating in order to halt or discredit people publicly discussing her second pregnancy. Hell, it's already happening.

The more she tries to beat people over the head with the kinds of "I'm not pregnant!" tweets she's putting out, the more she's going to acknowledge that she IS in fact pregnant. That's one of Tessa's biggest weaknesses, media-wise. She may think she's being clever by using certain, seemingly innocuous phrases or drop-ins either on camera or in one-on-ones with fans, but what's she really doing is going WAY overboard in a way that is very apparent. She doesn't seem to understand how subtlety actually works. She's only paying lip service to it.

Bang on, 10:36. One of the many dead giveaways of fakeness with VM is Tessa's OTT overcompensations when she's trying to assert how *separate* she and Scott are, how *different* in their off-ice lives, how *platonic*. And on and on she goes. What's left at the end for us is, "Oh, she's lying."

This twitter adventure is only going to expose her/them all the more. It's already happening. You go Tessa! Keep composing those tweets! Tell us how you and Scott are so separate, so dating others, so yadda yadda yadda lies lies lies. Bwahahahaha

Oh, and Scott. Your sham-games are also so OTT giveaways. Tell Miss Lawes we know she's a hired girlfriend. But you go ahead. Keep making a fool of yourself (and her, poor moron). The fans are not the pathetic ones, you and your sham girlfriend are--every time. Bring it on.

    7. Tessplanation makes me laugh. Prefect.
I agree. Her tweets are beginning to have that little extra "twist" in them that's completely unnecessary... the fall line in the last tweet (which if she truly did, she's prob still fine at this point, but I don't like it-and before I get slammed, I do very much know what I'm talking about due to my occupation ...), the part about French pastries and wine, etc. All these are extras. Why can't she just tweet, "great workout at the gym" (and promote it.) Or, "had a great time today with the kids at the seminar!" Period. The whole simultaneous sham portion (been in France for a month, haven't been on the ice in months), plus the other stuff (gaining weight from pastries and wine, so obviously not pregnant, AND I'm all out of shape now and falling, and it's so funny, so obviously not pregnant-esp since that's a huge point people like to make on here for proving she can't possibly ever be preggers and skate-but back to my point), reminds me of the Semple tweet a few weeks back, with the added bonus "safe travels".

Oh and btw, since she's choosing not to follow him, are we supposed to think that's done again now? They were really back together, but it was just some quick clandestine affair... she called him up for a month long booty call in Europe to wine and dine her to get over Scott, since he dropped her for KL after the Olympics and tour? Maybe she wanted her share in the sleaze. Can't let Scott have all the fun with the player, manwhore reputation. Or are they supposed to be in a long term relationship that she's just choosing to keep quiet since she's protective and a very private person?

      Delete
    8. I guess Semple is just kinda there that way if she does get big enough that people so assume she's pregnant, they'll in the blanks that he's the father, like they did with Pelletier?

I mean, who wouldn't want to portray themselves as someone who keeps getting pregnant from random affairs, rather than a woman who has two children with her husband?

Why would you want people to see you as a fit, healthy, beautiful, glowing pregnant athlete who's in amazing shape when you could portray yourself as a fat, dumpy, gluttonous, klutzy athlete who hasn't even seen the inside of a gym in God knows how long?

It seems they learned NOTHING from last time. The injury was used to cover the pregnancy and the "poor Tessa can't train" stained them for four years. So by all means, continue to show yourself as someone who just can't help packing on the pounds the second training stops... it's a wonder Scott can even lift you! Please tell us about your gastric bypass surgery you're having in December to explain the quick weight loss.

She loves that shit. The way she tries to talk about herself, she must believe she's seen as a goddess or something; she's working so hard in the other direction. This twitter persona evokes the pathetic mess persona she adopted for the reality show. Of course that persona went out the window the absolute second the "reality show" finished, so that by the time of the Olympic press conference, we were explicitly told Tessa was a blunt, take no shit warrier woman unafraid of holding feet to the fire and demanding accountability. Don't fuck with Tessa.

I think Tessa doesn't acknowledge that anybody knows she was pregnant or thinks she's pregnant now, so she's not going to acknowledge that when she pretends she's not with Scott, people fill in for themselves who they think the father is.

I actually don't think the woman pays attention to feedback in any way except as a competitive exercise. She doesn't process it.

Last I checked the twitter followers, the Moirs aren't following her either. I get that. Why would they bother following Scott's "business partner" when they can follow fake twitter accounts that ridicule Virtue and Moir's fans?

Tessa tries to cover way too many bases when she says anything. She also tries to back door shit in a way that's super obvious, in a way that's even sent up on television (not her doing it, but the way she does it has been sent up in cartoons, sketches, sitcoms and other shows).

    2. "Beach pics", or pics from the pool party to make it LOOK like a nice (pre established pattern) beach vacation? Oh I'm sure there are many more to come later, and it'd be really easy Photoshop an ocean in the background. Not that they couldn't have invited her along to their family vacay to some beach, but I also wonder if this time they just took advantage of the fortunate opportunity to be in bathing attire, to perpetuate what everyone has grown to expect on all sides of the coin.
He looks so happy to be there with her, btw. Shocking... some things never change.

Speaking of the pics... anyone know where the "looks like we're out drinking and having fun on a date, and all cozy, but really I'm just gonna hold on to the railing behind her so it looks like my arm is around her, and we'll have another friend here too as a buffer" pic is from? Guessing the same event as the pool/culinary, or one of the Calgary trips (can't enlarge it enough to see the background right now). It doesn't really matter to me, but I only mention it to prove a point that's been made on here multiple times... shamming doesn't mean he's away from his family, canoodling with a fake gf or cheating on Tessa...they didn't take extra time. Snap a few photos when already out in a group, at an event with that person, and voila! Sham o' summer.

Here we have 3 "separate pics", that are spread out in her little collage, guessing by her comment to be made to look like they're from multiple events, when they're most likely all from the same one. And the way she has them placed in progression of, first, event together in large group, then, out together (but with friends), and then, cozy at the "beach", supports the whole "we were friends, but fell in love" farce that's being spewed around. Gonna go out on a limb and venture the pic of her with the baby next to and same size as the "cuddly couple" pic is also very much not an accident either. Gag. Good to see T hasn't been studying for nothing...

Hah, that's the sham pics all over. When it comes to sham, we have to set the bar low, but so far Kaitlyn Lawes is projecting a "I love everybody, but this is as close as you're getting, buddy!" vibe in her sham stuff. This whole thing comes off like Jennifer Aniston marketing her latest film with Gerard Butler or whatever other guy she was just in a movie with, pretending/encouraging they're dating until they're done with all the junkets, and meanwhile everybody falls asleep because who are we kidding. The entire thing might as well have "sponsored by Lindt" stamped on everybody's asses.

I really wonder if all of the sponsors are aware of the sham bullshit, and if so, that's interesting, that major brands are on board with fucking with the supposed market to the extent of being perfectly okay marketing absolute fraud as factual. There's no place to hide - Scott and Tessa are married to each other and parents. Does Lindt know? It just seems a bunch of sponsors are in on the game and I find that an interesting direction for them to take, as with the Scott and Tessa sham, there are no semantics to hide behind. It's straight up hoaxing and the sponsors are implicated.

Also, changing the banner to that picture is going to cause fan melt-downing... I still feel like this is all some social experiment or thesis project, for her to see how all the different groups of fans react to stuff they put out there...
Also, I know that it's all intentional to achieve whatever the heck they're trying to achieve, but if you just look at the pics and don't bother to read anything, it could actually be a real version of what her twitter would look like if they were on the up and up. It's almost like she's having a multiple personality issue between her true self and the persona she's supposed to be portraying, (not saying she actually has multiple personality disorder, lol). Like what she gets excited about in reality/wants to put up and share vs what she needs to put out there for the public. So she just does both.

    1. I have two thoughts about this. One, this is the same old bait and switch in twitter form. Look at what you just said - it's almost as if it's what her real twitter might look like. From there, no matter how many times Lucy has yanked the football away from Charlie Brown in this situation, fans begin to wonder if maybe the twitter is a first step to getting more real with fans. I say, the hell it is. It's the same shit. It's getting fan attention, getting their hopes up and setting them up. It's happened a billion times. This is just the twitter iteration.

My other thought goes to a discussion some weeks ago where someone in the comments section shared their experiences with a different sham. How the mentality was "We'll "give" the fans something." - usually right before some sham thing. I don't believe that's "giving" at all. It's mean. However, I think that "throw them a bone." thing isn't uncommon, even though it's wrong and in the end, just ends up making the audience feel ripped off or cheated. It works like that in fiction too. I remember that on 30 Rock, there were quite a few people who wanted Jack and Liz to get together. There was one episode where Liz accidentally married Jack. I think there were a few weird "together but not together" episodes in addition. I never bought the dvds but apparently on them Tina Fey said she just wanted to give the "shippers" something. I think that's completely wrong. It ended up mocking the shippers, and that's what any bait and switch does. If you're going to disappoint people, don't go out of your way to set them up for the disappointment first. That's what this sham does, that's how it's always worked; the dynamic has been the same since it started. So far Tessa's twitter is no different.
