I read this 2003 article (excerpted in large part here), written by the late, great photojournalist Barry Mittan, long after it was originally published. It remains my favorite. Mittan gets out of the way, and Virtue Moir aren't control freaking their way through the Q&A, jackhammering themselves into their respective rigid public personas.
"South Carolina" might seem like a random dream destination for Scott Moir circa 2003, until one reads that girls can get married in South Carolina at age fourteen.
Skating is a family tradition for the Moirs. “Everyone in my family skated,” he said. “My mother is a figure skating coach, my dad played hockey and coached and my two older brothers skated. I started skating at three, got my first dance partner at age eight and started skating with Tessa at nine.” Virtue had a slightly different reason when she started at the age of six. “I didn’t want to be the only one in my class who couldn’t skate when we went on a school field trip to the arena,” she said.
Virtue began dancing with Moir when she was seven. “I am still trying to do singles, but once I got a dance partner, things just kind of clicked,” she said. She competed in singles last year and finished second at the All Ontario Championships. She almost has her double Axel and is working on triple jumps. Both skaters decided to try dance due to the influence of Moir’s brother, Danny, a senior ice dancer. The two teamed up when Moir’s aunt, Carol Moir, who coached both of the skaters for singles, decided they would make good dance partners.
The dancers train in Kitchener-Waterloo with Paul MacIntosh, Suzanne Killing and Rebecca Babb. They train for three hours on ice Monday through Friday before school and two hours off ice after school Monday to Thursday. That includes conditioning, aerobics, weight training, and balletics, although they each have approach the barre differently. Moir, who also plays hockey, was adamant that he takes ballet “only for skating purposes,” while Virtue, who has had classes since she was three, said, “One of the highlights of my life was the summer I spent at the National Ballet School when I was nine.”
Killing also choreographs the couple’s dances. Moir’s favorite compulsory dances are the Blues and the Golden Waltz, while Virtue likes the Paso and the Samba. He listed the Rocker Foxtrot as his hardest compulsory so far while she thought the Rhumba was the hardest. This season they skated to “Les Poissons” and “Concerto Sopra Motivi dell’Opera” for the original dance and “Malaguena”, “Eres Todo En Mi”, and “Tres Deseos” for their free dance. “I like to skate to anything interesting and fun,” Moir said, while Virtue noted that she liked “something lively, dancy and fun.” Off ice, Moir listens to the top 40 while Virtue listens to almost anything. She also plays the piano.
For fun, Moir likes to hang out with friends and plays sports. “I try to play as many sports as I can,” he said. He plays forward on a house league hockey team. Virtue likes to dance, spend time with friends, and shop. “I study ballet and modern dance,” she said. Moir likes to read action books and watch action movies, while Virtue likes mystery and comedy books and almost any kind of movies. Both are dog lovers. He has a dog named Diamond, while she has two dogs, Keeta, a Shepherd Cross and Maddie, a Rhodesian Ridgeback. She also lives with a family in Kitchener-Waterloo with a dog named Duffy. Both skaters keep the stuffed animals that are thrown on the ice.
For holidays, Moir enjoys going to a lakeside cottage in Muskokas, north of Toronto and enjoy time off at his family’s home. Virtue said, “My family often tries to add in a few days of vacation time around a skating event or competition.” She has enjoyed traveling to Chicago, Lake Placid and Vienna and hopes to go to Paris, Italy and Spain one day, while Moir wants to see Hawaii and South Carolina.
Both of the skaters are attending Bluevale High School, where Moir is in tenth grade and Virtue in ninth. The dancers have not decided on a post-skating career although Moir listed airlift paramedic and Toronto Maple Leafs trainer as possible careers, while Virtue has thought of being a lawyer or a teacher.
Moir said that he most enjoyed skating because of “the experiences, performing and the people you meet.” Virtue said she’s enjoyed “friends I’ve made, performing in front of a crowd and the dresses!”

*They forgot to mention Kate Virtue relocated to Kitchener-Waterloo and Tessa lived there with her. Maybe because she didn't.
I didn't know Tessa competed in singles for such a long time. In their book she said she was never interested in learning tripples.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is just an abstraction to Tessa and Scott. It's not attached to anything they actually are, anything they ever actually did, anything they're actually intending.
DeleteWhats the purpose of posting this old article? I think every real fan knows or has read this before, or are you telling me the main reason its because you find out Scott used to say he'd love to go to South Carolina for vacation and you thought the real reason was because this american state lets teenage girls get married? So do you think T/S have been in love for ages and always had plan to spend the rest of their lives together. I wish I could belive this, but lets be realistic they aren't together... they're likely good friends, Why everyone is willing to create these stories. I personally began to follow them because of the sport and their amazing skating skills not because of their personal lives or what they do off ice, we need to respect them. What's the purpose of claiming they are married and are liars and she's pregnant.? Its so sad they have to face horrible rumors, guess thats the price of fame. Hope you can all see this isn't good, let them live their lifes in peace, as you are living your own. Thank you bye :)
ReplyDeleteScott, is it you?
DeleteVery funny... Yes I am Scott laughing my ass off of how ridiculous you all act and sound writing on this blog and creating shit, but the reality is that anybody will ever know anything you claim to.know ... but its ok, you can have the best of fun behind a computer while I'm basically having my own fun skating and making good money and being a world champion while you are....??? NO ONE, just a couple of girls with crazy fantasies. Yeah I might be childish but let me say you aren't far away from me. Whateeeevsss #growupladies #letsbereal #youarelike4yo
DeleteThey're married with a daughter and she's likely pregnant again; if you can't believe it, that doesn't change the facts. The blog calls them liars because they are. I'm going to assume you're new here, because the blog has said many times the comments section is not the place to trot out your own theories or ideas, as the blog premise isn't theory, but fact, and is not going to pretend it's not fact so others can talk about their favorite theories.
DeleteI am posting it because it shows not just a less contrived Tessa and Scott, but a Tessa and Scott who have much more in common tempermentally in personality than they pretend to have today. The personas they present today have become more and more contrived, more and more plastic, particularly between Vancouver and now.
DeleteI love how talking about how they've been together and in love since they were kids, got married young, had a daughter, are still together and most likely have more on the way, are "horrible rumors"...
DeleteYeah, maybe calling them liars and fakers is not nice, but that's completely on them.
Thanks for posting that article oc. I hadn't read it in awhile, and it was nice and refreshing to read something real, especially since we don't ever get that anymore (or have to question and filter every single thing they say). It definitely supports what I keep saying lately about the very defined public personas put out there that make it appear as though they can't stand being around each other. Don't know what happened to the "best friends"... guess that got thrown out the window as soon as they found their respective so-in-love "significant others". Therefore, they never see each other unless it's for work. Which, has publicly been few and far between as of late. Oh well... they've completely moved on from each other now that they're not skating together, just as all the fan fiction "predicted". Guess the fans were right... (*heavy* sarcasm).
People get so bent out of shape, so enraged by what this blog says - which is the hideous truth that they're married and have a child, and by all signs, a second child on the way.
DeleteI don't think the fans who become outraged are angry that the blog says Scott and Tessa lie, nor angry that Scott and Tessa are married. Neither is a big deal in the fan world. Fans blow off lies all the time, and move on. I think the fans that say it's "horrible", FEEL it's horrible because they're fans, and the narrative is taken away from them. Scott and Tessa have hidden their real narrative from fans, and pumped out a fake one that they know fans will grab and run.
THAT idea is what enrages them, that someone would dare suggest Scott and Tessa have put one over on them, quite consciously, with calculation. Particularly as the tone many fans take is somewhat patronizing and protective towards Scott and Tessa, and where they believe Scott and Tessa are in their lives, self-awareness, and awareness of the public. To have someone say Scott and Tessa aren't those people, but people who have been running a scam/hoax on them this entire time, playing THEM, is what drives them crazy.
I don't know where these fans put the big lie that Scott and Tessa tell and continue to tell, which is the lie about the rift. There is evidence in the public domain that Scott and Tessa completely made that up. Scott, in particular, has backtracked and tacked back from time to time, on occasion saying they didn't talk "for a couple of weeks", dialed down from two months. And even that isn't true. But then recently they revived it again. Despite the fact that a simple google search shows they're lying, no "journalist" they re-told that story to acknowledged it. Every journalist that interviews them is basically a p.r. advocate for their spin on their lives, not a real journalist.
The second dubious thing is AAP. Scott and Tessa are receiving 18K each THIS season, meaning the cycle ending in Worlds, of public funds. That's thirty-six thousand dollars, CAD. As of February 2014, Patrick Chan was on the AAP list for $18,000. As of August 1, 2014, Patrick Chan is off the list. Slipchuk didn't try to snake Patrick Chan money he wasn't going to use for training. Scott and Tessa got the money. What is it for?
They both had to sign agreements before getting that money, and Mike Slipchuk had to re-affirm their commitment to high performance training and competition for 2013-2014. Those are the facts. Yes, it's possible when the new list is published they won't be on it, which means they've withdrawn since August 1, 2014, or they've permanently retired. But what if they're on the next list? What will fans think about that lie? Will they believe Scott and Tessa and Slipchuk misrepresented their intentions to AAP and took the money, knowing nobody would investigate?
Going by what Scott and Tessa have said about this season, and how Skate Canada has presented Scott and Tessa this season, Scott, Tessa and Skate Canada have scammed the Canadian Government, the Canadian Heritage Department, out of $36,000 they have no right to receive. If Skate Canada and Scott, Tessa aren't lying, misleading, bullshitting the public, they're in violation. They don't qualify for a full cycle of funding. This trust fund baby (Tessa) and her husband have siphoned $36,000 in grant money that doesn't belong to them, and Slipchuk got it for them. They need to give it back. They're not training, they don't know what they're going to do in terms of their career, Tessa isn't using the money for training; instead she's having a Scott summer that harkens back to Scott's Jessica sham. Weddings, fun times, fun anecdotes, fun sightings, wonderful helpful encounters with adoring young skaters, shopping, travel, golf, out with friends, what's-a-Scott. The girl on ask.fm claims Tessa told her she and Scott aren't sure if they're going to stay in skating or stay out, and are waiting to see if they have the fire. Skate Canada's article on HPC explicitly presented both Scott/Tessa and Patrick Chan as in the exact same circumstances - on hiatus, taking stock "for now" while the new team prepares. And yet Skate Canada submitted Scott and Tessa for SR1, 18k each in AAP THIS cycle, for Worlds 2015.
DeleteThey can't be telling the truth on social media AND be compliant with AAP and legit with their grant money. They're hoaxing somebody. Us, or the government. And Skate Canada is helping. Who is the patsy here? The Canadian Heritage Foundation, or us?
If she's not pregnant, why are they receiving money when they're not competing the first half of the season? If they're on hiatus from competition and high performance training for competition, they're supposed to withdraw from AAP, not get a full cycle's funding. (If she's pregnant or injured, or ill, it's okay per regulations.) They have a full cycle's funding. They're funded NOW, for the entire first half of the 2014-2015 season they're not competing. Why is that?
It's like fans think, okay, they'd lie about EVERTHING, and DO lie about everything, but they'd never EVER lie about being married with a child.
If they're legit with that money, then while Tessa is pretending to socialite it up on social media, she and Scott have a short program, they have a free dance, they have a training program they follow under the oversight of Skate Canada, their coaches and their physicians, and they intend to compete at Worlds if all goes well, and it's okay that they're not competing in the fall because they fit one of the exceptions.
The more you lie, the more lies get told to make prior lies work. And the more arrogant people become (or so a recent article I've read about Lance Armstrong postulates). The idea is that the longer it goes on, the less people think they're in the wrong, the more they insist on spin that justifies prior lies, and the more they compete with the "other side" which is the public and critics.
Typo above: should be "Worlds 2015" and "2014-2015".
DeleteWhere are they in that pic?
ReplyDeleteIf they misled a 15 year old into lying for them... ugh... I can't.
Hi, I am new to this, but after reading this blog i also begining to belive the facts and proves o.c gives us. Sometimes I wish they were different, whats the big deal to say YES I AM IN LOVE WITH HER/HIM!!! A mean a lot of fans will kill to see them together, is what the media loves to sell. I don't get why the pretend, do they lose sponsors if the people knows they're together or its just the pleasure of making drama. I am still utterly confuse, they're so strange.
ReplyDelete"A mean a lot of fans will kill to see them together, is what the media loves to sell."
DeleteThat's exactly what they pretend they DON'T want. That's why Tessa pats herself on the back when she says "I'm very protective of my friends." We're meant to believe she's a thousand times more protective of people even closer, like her child and her husband.
They're hypocrites. They want attention, fame, they want people talking about their relationship. At the same time, they want to keep it for themselves (their real relationship). Originally, setting aside their excuse that they wanted to protect their privacy, which everyone can see now is a crock, it looked as if they wanted to market/exploit/use the chemistry everybody loves in order to promote themselves. But they wanted to protect the relationship at the same time. They didn't want fans to see the real relationship, etc., that's private. So they invented a pretend one, all about fans wishing they were together, and hinting "maybe some day" and marketing that.
However, at this point, it's clear to see they're not protecting their real relationship either. Too many people in the real world they live in know, and those people gossip as much as any fans. If they were private, they'd be more private in their real lives. At this point, it looks like saving face, and making previous lies "work", and not wanting the public to "win".
IOW, what they originally wanted was to have their cake and eat it too. Exploit the interest in their relationship (which they stoke whenever fans lose interest) and market it, brand with it, peddle their personal relationship. Except they didn't actually want to do that, so they made it up and peddled the fake, and "protected" the real thing. Problem is the games they play, play fast and loose with their reality, even if they are both too far gone to recognize it, and the games they play use the real thing as bait. That's not what "protective" looks like.
DeleteI'd say that's Tessa and Semple as well. What's the purpose of them actually going to events as a couple and acting like a couple if they aren't?
ReplyDeleteI do think she was there too, but that doesn't prove she is with Semple. (Because she's not). Nor does that picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to worry about that girl... she has been so vague and flip-flopping her answers, something is definitely up. I don't know if she knows the truth and agreed to help, or is just being given wishy-washy info herself and reporting what she's told/heard, but there's a lot of semantics and evasion every time the "couple" is brought up.
"...and acting like a couple..."
ReplyDeleteI must have missed those reports. Even that girl that supposedly kept running into them and says Tessa is dating a guy (but never by name), hedged and avoided that specific question. The only thing I've seen are a few posed (some awkward) pictures of the two of them.
The one of them on the boat last time was much more "believable"... Although, she also wasn't pregnant then either. Not that I put that past them, or they won't get "more comfortable".
And in the one of them on the boat, she was standing closer to and had her arm flung more around the other guy.
ReplyDeleteIt's not uncommon for people who make things up to start changing their story, avoiding specifics, and hedging their bets. They start worrying they will trip themselves up, forget something, or they worry that someone asking them the questions knows a detail they don't know, and they'll expose themselves.
4:05 - what couple are we supposed to be focused on in that photo?
ReplyDeleteThat girl is a complete plant. And please with roping in a fifteen year old. She has parents. It's just her account being used. They're not using her on their own - if the girl is helping out, her family is involved.
If there's a couple in that shot that looks like Ryan and Tessa, it's an old stunt, used twice with Scott. Once with Jessica, once with Cassandra Hilborn. Jessica was seated between Cara Moir and Scott in a wedding album on Carol Moir's facebook. Anybody, including Tessa, can stand up and take the picture, just as many guests do all the time, and it's not disruptive in the least. These are not close family friend weddings, these are big "invite your connections" events. It's like when Cassandra Hilborn attended a Moir wedding and Scott sidled up at the end of the pew so we'd see him next to her/back of the photo in the shot of the bride coming up the aisle. It's a stunt. If this time it's Tessa, it's the third time.
You can pretty much tell how much or how little the actual bride and groom mean to either Tessa and Scott when they pull this shit.
Even if they did both get invited to and attend that wedding, and even if they did sit together, it still doesn't mean that they're together. All it means is she did go to a wedding and sit next to somebody she knows (that's also convenient for her to sit next to since she is supposed to be dating him). And then she could've easily flown home later that day to her husband and child. Or more likely, that they were hanging somewhere in the hotel while she attended the wedding ceremony. Have you ever taken a 3 y/o to a wedding? It can be a challenge, lol. Or that Scott/daughter did go, but were hanging in the back somewhere, not visible in that particular picture.
ReplyDeleteJust because we see a picture (or a few) doesn't represent the entire story, or what is outside the frame of the camera. You can think all you want that you can piece their entire lives together by the pictures and "sightings" (even if some are legit locations on occasion) we get on social media. But, if you really think about all the time not represented on social media, there's way more "missing" information than presented information. There's so much presumption that goes on. It must be like a game for them, to put the little bits out there and see what the fans do with it. What narrative they come up with to explain what they see, that VM then turn around and can post "supporting" information. This is what makes the fans think they know exactly what is going on, because they figured it all out before they were told. This happens over and over again, yet they think that it's because they're so smart, not because VM are taking from them to build their story.
I also love how everything is pick and choose. You've got the people on here and elsewhere that know the truth, saying they're together, and other people saying they're not. Someone has to be lying. Both can't be right. These fans say they want/need proof to know which to "believe". So, let's look at the "evidence". There's *years* worth of pictures and videos of Tessa and Scott interacting together and (her) pregnant, and proven lies/contractions by they themselves... versus a few posed pictures here and there of fake significant others... and these are the what they pick to be "real"? Why is *that* the default? Why does it always have to be *that* way, and never can be the other way (truth)?
My favorite is when the fans act all confused why Tessa and Scott continue to act this way towards each other, while they're "dating" other people. Of course it's confusing and doesn't make sense. It's contradictory because that's exactly what it is.
I guess it's because like you say, oc, they don't want to be lied to and realize they're out of the loop.
Are we supposed to think this song she tweeted is about her unrequited love for Scott? Because it sure doesn't fit the supposed relationship she's in, but sounds an awful like the stories the fans are always making up. Maybe she wants someone to make a fan video for them with it and tweet it to her, lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's any hidden meaning. It's her friend Liz Coyles. She's just promoting her.
DeleteWhy does everything have to have an alternate meaning with this blog? No way is it possible for someone to just like a song for the musical quality and to want to share it with their followers.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so messed up it confounds words.
And OC please stop acting like you're the smart one here. This blog displays no facts whatsoever, especially when you claim tessa is pregnant while her photos definitely prove that she isn't.
You're the one that cares too much.
Seriously this isn't healthy behaviour for anyone.
But continue with your lies if it makes you feel important/ inferior or whatever disturbing satisfaction this shit gives you because at the end of the day i'm pretty sure Tessa and Scott don't want you or this blog anywhere near them and it will continue to stay where it belongs: far away from the public!
The blog definitely displays a fact here, which is Scott and Tessa are married and have a child. Those are facts.
DeleteWhat you mean is the blog hasn't said how it knows. Unless it does, the blog seems to be wasting YOUR time. It's not a waste of mine.
Why is it that every person who wants to shut the blog down thinks the personal shame attack will work? It's the oldest gambit on the internet. If you don't agree with what someone is doing, claim they have personal problems. I think that's supposed to make the other person wilt and go away. Has this tactic worked for you before?
OTOH - I'm curious how people like you divide their time, shame-wise. How much of your shame-day is spent here, and how much on places such as Meryl Davis blogs that present her as devastated inside over Charlie's engagement to Tanith, that firmly believe she and Charlie were each other's first, that pretend to believe Tanith manipulated Charlie into an engagement. That's pretty degrading. Have you tried to set those tumblrs straight? Those are pretty fantastical perspectives presented there.
DeleteSo, is this pic old too or photoshopped ?
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/tessavirtue/status/512091904281178112
Doesn't look very pregnant to me, if it's real ?
She obviously isn't, her abs are rock hard there. You can literally see the indentation. No bump. And it isn't photoshop as we saw with the TIFF pictures.
DeleteAnon 9:38.
DeleteOh yeah, I can see Tessa and Scott don't care about the blog, and blog is *far away* from the public. I assume you also mean it's far away from Tessa and Scott.
Right. And that's why Tessa is tweeting at midnight her time with a very obvious agenda against this ridiculous blog. Not only a "skinny" picture (that looks nothing like the Tessa pics from her post-Sochi public appearances) but the implications of drinking anything that is pure caffeine and harmful to a baby.
This is how Tessa and Scott show how dumb the blog is, how it means nothing to them.
Bwahaha
hashtag #ryantookthephoto
DeleteHow very "college girl" of her to be drinking energy drinks now. So healthy. Sounds right up her alley.
DeleteAlso, NOT pregnant. I'm skinny and hyped on caffeine!
Did the person she dragged with her at midnight to work out also drink energy drinks? Or did she just have them sit there and watch her before they took the photo?
I'm guessing were supposed to think it's Ryan that took it. Did he move to London, or are they on another fun trip together? This doesn't look like a big gym, so a hotel or clubhouse gym that's open that late... Or are we supposed to think one them has their own private gym... I guess that makes more sense for Ryan to have versus a single college girl. She must still be visiting him then and skipping classes.
I find it hysterical were supposed to believe this tweet/picture combo is real and current. Yet, many do.
Lol @ 12:43.
DeleteYeah, that's probably what were supposed to think, but that means she would actually be acknowledging her "bf" publicly on her Twitter. She's apparently too private for that with her "real" relationships.
Okay, she's been chugging wine and caffeine. Heads up for her scuba-diving adventure, her marathon run, and her relaxing hour in the sauna.
Delete12:43 AM is she squatting for him? #squatslife
DeleteLet's just all remember Tessa's "who says" - the one time she let her calculation's freak flag fly on her twitter. She didn't say she chugged an energy drink "tonight" - she said "at 7pm". See what she did there?
DeleteShe sets people up.
Can we talk about how slim and fit Tessa looks in the pic she just tweeted. A mean she must be sort of magical if she can still look like that at 8 months pregnant. Honesty open your eyes, this blog main pourpose its to create shit and lies over something that doesn't exist. This blog is as bad as Tessa and Scott's reality show. Fake and Ridiculous!!
ReplyDelete"This blog is as bad as Tessa and Scott's reality show."
DeleteWait up. What was bad - to you - about Scott and Tessa's reality show? Was it poorly produced, uninteresting? Or do you think parts of it were fake? What parts.
Let me ask you something. If you believe the reality show was fake, do you believe that Scott and Tessa are married or not? Do you believe they have a daughter as well? If not, what parts of the reality show were fake to you?
If you believe the reality show is fake, what is outrageous about believing that a married couple who already have one child are expecting another one? What's to get bent out of shape about, particularly as she looks exactly as she did the last time she was pregnant, misdirection notwithstanding?
So not pregnant! You can start back trackng any time......or its a bad camera angle, miscarriage, she carries different than the entire world of females.....
ReplyDeleteEpic fail blogger. Now....maybe you should consider blogging the truth for a change????
Right, you are not about that. You are about slander and revenge.
Epic FAIL.
Tessa does not look "like that" at this point. That is not a recent picture. That is a picture that was taken earlier, saved, and used now. This is how they've always shammed. The message of the sham this summer is "not pregnant!"
ReplyDeleteThis is likely a big component of why she got a twitter account in the first place - it gives them more control of the images of her that are out there. This. Is. What. Her. Twitter. Is. For.
Anon @ 10:52. Ita. Ever since she made a Twitter account, I've presumed it was so she could do exactly this. It's a public platform to post pictures of her looking a certain way, and doing certain "non pregnant" activities for the entirety of her pregnancy. It's brilliant. She should have thought of it last time. Although last time people weren't really talking about her being pregnant, and she continued skating, which means she's definitely couldn't have been!
DeleteShe's already started this from the beginning with her bikini pic and "wine and pastries". Why is now suddenly different... That's precisely the point and has been all along. Not that she's not also using it to push other agendas as well, but they all feed into the same. (i.e. not with Scott, not skating anymore, etc.)
Listen, fans don't want to know that twitter pics don't have to be current. All Exif data is automatically stripped from most social media uploads, including twitter, instagram and facebook (this isn't to protect the person whose account it is, but to allow those platforms to embed their own metadata and repurpose the photos if they choose). If anybody wants to cue up an old interview with Debbi Wilkes from HPC 2009 on that event's media day, she talks about how it's a quote bank opportunity for media outlets, so they can pull quotes as the season goes on without taking any of the athlete's time. Of course the concept of banking photos is completely out of the norm, and something Tessa Virtue would never, EVER do. Just as Scott and Jessica spent two xmas's running together - Once among the Moirs, and once in two places at once - in Ilderton at Aunt Carol's, and in Drummond with the Dubes. They're just that magic.
DeleteI'm just amazed we went all these years where Scott wasn't permitted to see Tessa's naked abs (or semi bare anything) outside a skating rink, to the point she avoided weddings he attended if they were anywhere near a beach, and/or if swimsuits were involved apres or pre. Now, not only can Scott see her in her swimwear but so can the rest of us. And close-ups of her ass as a bonus. She can't wait to flash her midsection - even her initial twitter profile picture was of herself in Eres bikini separates worth several hundred dollars each. Then she lets us know she changed in her airplane seat and flashed the ground crew, a ground crew with supersonic vision. What a turnaround.
DeleteLook at her on twitter. Do you think this means Tessa wasn't really so reserved, social media averse and private all these years after all? Or that her self-conscious self-criticism in the reality show wasn't the real her?
The ridiculous part is how unnecessary the twitter or any shamming is. Tessa could have a midsection as distended as the prow of a ship, she could bare it in a belly shirt, paint a target on it and instagram it every day, and nobody would acknowledge it as what it is until she did. Not the media, not many fans.
DeleteThat's the thing about the calls for proof from some people who visit the blog. Even supposing some of the demands were not ridiculous - such as - tell us how you know, name names and/or upload documents - everything from a certified copy of a marriage certificate to photos of the wedding - every single one of those things would be dismissed and discounted unless Scott and Tessa admitted it.
They are really wasting their time asking the blog - or anyone else - for proof. We already know how it goes. These fans are the sort of people who believe it's possible that Scott and Tessa lie to everyone BUT fans. They told the media they were married, told other skaters they were married, but they were lying and tricking them. Their communities and families are also lying to a select group of people. Only the fans get the real, platonic truth.
If there were a sex tape, it would be a goof and a prank VM were playing on the fans.
Hotel registration records? Saving money/like to snuggle/bffs, just like everyone said about when they dined with the queen (even though that was just ridiculous. If Scott and Tessa WERE platonic, being photographed in one hotel room only means they met up in one of the two hotel rooms to take a picture before heading to the dinner).
If wedding photos were made public - same deal. Goof and prank.

These fans don't really want to know what the blog's proof is, nor do they really want to know what anyone else's proof is EXCEPT to the extent they want to see it/know it in order to declare it's not proof at all.
The only proof any of them will accept is if Scott and Tessa tell them and admit it to them on the public record. Scott and Tessa know it, too. The games Virtue Moir play are only games. It's part of the circle jerk of their p.r. It doesn't accomplish anything, not even to demonstrate she's not pregnant. It's competition, period. She doesn't have to demonstrate she's not pregnant, or even hide it.
"The ridiculous part is how unnecessary the twitter or any shamming is. Tessa could have a midsection as distended as the prow of a ship, she could bare it in a belly shirt, paint a target on it and instagram it every day, and nobody would acknowledge it as what it is until she did. Not the media, not many fans."
Delete^ THIS. This is what really does stupefy me, because VM clearly know that what actually keeps their lies going is that they haven't ever acknowledged the truth in the public record. They could easily just Not Acknowledge but leave out the straight-up lies and find themselves in about the same position. Many, many people know they're lying. Is it really worth the sham effort, minimal as it may be, to keep their handful of online, teen-girl fans confused? Maybe it is, because those are probably the fans who buy their book and watch their show.
"Maybe it is, because those are probably the fans who buy their book and watch their show."
DeleteI agree with most of what you said, but to prove your point even further, I think those same people would still buy the book and watch the show even if they knew, or acknowledged to themselves they know the truth. Because it still allows them to see more of them, and therefore feel like they have more access to Tessa and Scott and know about their lives. From what I've read and heard, the majority think the show (and Cassandra) was all fake anyways, but they still watch it over and over and GIF set it and make videos from clips, etc.
I really think with them it comes down to saving face, making prior lies work, possibly pretending to protect everyone who helped them lie, including their Federation (yet all of those people/entities save their families could act like "news to us" and nobody would follow through). I definitely have reason to believe that they did not intend for the sham to still be running four years after Vancouver, and even after the freaking Sochi Olympics were done. What it looks like to me is there were several windows where they originally intended to come clean, procrastinated, decided just a little longer, and then now they're either in too deep, or keep digging so they can pretend they're in too deep, and save face.
DeleteRemember this is a sport with insiders and outsiders. Even some fans think other fans are outsiders, and they're the insider fans a/k/a part of the skating community/trusted supporters. It's insular. It's elitist. Elitist in a pathetic way, considering the large amounts of stupidity and delusion running through the sport, but elitist nonetheless. The last thing they want is to give outsiders the satisfaction. As you've said, it's a small group that buys it, a relatively small group that calls it out, and a much larger group that either doesn't give a shit or haven't given it any thought. They don't have that much perspective. They occupy a world where everything orbits around Scott and Tessa.
Scott and Tessa's psychology is something we don't know. Their personalities and talent conceal a lot. I just think the basics apply. I'm reading about "Cycle of Lies" the Lance Armstrong story. It's easy to think his transgression was a lot more serious than Scott and Tessa's, because it went to his performance in his sport, not his off ice life. However, doping, while a violation of his sport, isn't criminal in most places where he cycled. The two realms are separate.
Some of the comments about the Armstrong documentary that I find interesting:
For example, that Armstrong's head was filled with "notions of grandeur that made him feel like he wasn't cheating even when he was."
"He was determined to win, even against his detractors."
"Wielded influence to maintain his profile."
It's a small world, but it's the one Virtue and Moir live in. Their celebrity may seem small bore in the larger world, but it's everything to them and theirs. We have to consider what losing face means to them - it's not just "us" - it's other people. Other skaters. Coaches. Athletes. Media. Family, neighbors. They're the big deal.
The nature of their lie does isolate them, to an extent - their management is one big tell. Everybody else at their level is with the Olympic and figure skating divisions of IMG, where the big money is. Virtue and Moir are with a golf shop. Maybe they were invited to appear on DWTs and turned it down, maybe not, but if they turned it down - why? DWTs is a program where the paps leach onto contestants comings and goings in the parking lot, meaning Scott and Tessa would have had to drive in and leave separately every day, and their child couldn't come to rehearsal (although arguably could come to performance). Moreover, even if the show covered up, the respective dance studios of the different pros also leak like a sieve, most particularly, and historically, Maks'.
(Me, personally, I'm happy they didn't do DWTs. For all Scott saying he and Tessa would crush it, which they would, I wouldn't like to see them crushing it while the judges pretended they didn't, made up bullshit criticism, awarded low scores, and railroaded some storyboard to the win.)
Yes, or god forbid, they couldn't be presented as equal to precious Meryl and were both eliminated before the final.
DeleteDWTs is fun sometimes but mostly embarrassing to watch. I know VM would shine but it would still be mostly uncomfortable.
I could be wrong on this one but I swear Scott is in that photo. If you look at where Tessa is and look just to the left there is a man with dark hair, in a dark grey maybe black suit, leaning slightly forward. When I first saw the photo I didn't notice Tessa and Ryan first, and I thought 'Oh, there's Scott'.
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth does the picture have to be a current one?
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth does the picture have to be an old one ?
DeleteNone of the people who claim to know she was pregnant in 2010 have any information that isn't at least 3 years old. All of their sources seem to have vanished all of a sudden. All their speculation is based on pictures ( while freely admitting that pics can lie ).
A lot can happen in three years. For all we know VM are over each other and simply decided to stay friends. They wouldn't be the first ex couple that's still very close and touchy after a break up, especially when they were together for such a long time.
Tessa already lost some weight over the last couple of weeks so why is it so hard to believe she'd lose some more ? Scott put on weight too ( more than in previous off seasons ), does that mean he's pregnant too ?
Nobody has any real information about Tessa this time so insisting that she's pregnant and insulting those who doubt it is rather silly.
Go right on believing that, 12:19. You're completely wrong, but all right then.
DeleteI love how because you haven't been given the exact answers you want from anonymous people on the internet, you've decided that nobody knows anything and some imaginary storyline you've concocted in your head is a plausible reality. You are the exact kind of fan this sort of sham PR agenda feeds on, so congratulations on that, I guess. God, it is too easy with some of the public, I swear. That doesn't excuse what V/M are doing and how they do it, but I can see now how fucking easy it is to do it all the same.
Hey what Olympian eats Fruit Loops and has an energy drink at 7 pm...and then needs to post a picture of a workout after midnight with basically the TRX logo? Perhaps Tessa has a deal with QVC to be hawking the product, lol...and if she has the need for a long lasting energy drink at 7 pm - perhaps the person you are supposedly spending time with actually isn't that interesting?
DeleteTo me - it's just comes off as self-absorbing...
10:15, I'm so confused... you think the reality show, (and, by proxy, Cassandra), was "fake and ridiculous", but everything else they do and say is on the up and up? Really? Wow.
Delete12:19
DeleteWhat on earth has made you think they've broken up?
Tweets and appearing with fake significant others (in no means close to how they pose and interact when they're with each other)?
If they were still together 3 years ago (and they were), they're still together now, for the simple fact alone that they're doing exactly the same things and acting exactly the same way. Why was all that fake before and a cover up, but this is all legit?
Also, who is saying no one has any real info that says they're still together? People come in here all the time using the excuse that they cannot be together since all the info here is "old". Even if that were true (which it's not), that's the stupidest excuse ever. I don't understand why they would be together since they were kids, with no one else, with all they've been through, and suddenly break up now. Are you a fan of theirs? You would rather believe they had this awesome love story and then it all just dissolved one day (yet they act no differently), than believe you're currently being lied to? Sounds like you really care about them.
Anyways that's besides the point because just because people don't post the details of how they know they're still together on this blog, doesn't mean it's not out there, and they aren't still happily together.
"what Olympian eats Fruit Loops and has an energy drink at 7 pm"
DeleteWell, 5:24, I think we're supposed to be believing that since they're still deciding if they want to continue and taking a "break", she's going hog-wild and over indulging on everything that is not good for her... especially chocolate, wine, pastries, sugary cereals, and energy drinks (did I miss any?).
Because, you know, someone who is an elite multiple-time Olympian, who has carefully watched what she put in her body for years, is going to throw that all away as soon as she gets a chance. And because she's never done this kind of thing before, she doesn't know any better about drinking that stuff and then going to work out. I'm sure her body will be fine.
Guess this is her version of Scott's drug use and alcoholism. They just don't have any self-control or discipline, those kids...
"what Olympian eats Fruit Loops and has an energy drink at 7 pm."
DeleteDo you know how many dancers smoke? How many athletes smoke? Not every Olympian follows an optimum performance diet at all times. They drink. They have Red Bull. They have junk food. Not necessarily regularly, but they're not spartans.
5:24 - the problem with Tessa's twitter is it's fake. It's not grounded in anything. It's overly canned, and smells like it, just as Scott's fake girlfriend social media output was canned. The underpinnings of real life are missing. The girlfriends came across self-absorbed, because nothing of their real life came into their social media output when they shammed.
DeleteThis is 6:54, I'm not saying she definitely couldn't have, nor that she never has, but that I think given it was flaunted on her Twitter, with that pic, and with the current agenda, it's almost certainly not true in this case. It goes too well with everything else posted on there, portraying "who" she *really* is.
DeleteThis is anon at 5:24 am - OC I get what you mean and everyone has indulgences/vices etc...I just tend to agree with anon at 7:39 am that it appears that Tessa is trying too hard to appeal to a certain demographic..and it comes off as fake..
Delete12:19 - you don't know what information people have and don't have, including this blog. What you seem to want is for information on Scott and Tessa to be consistently updated. That's not the blog's business or anyone else's; and not everything everybody knows is on the blog. That's true for me, and I'm sure - scratch that - I KNOW that's true for other people who participate here. And lest you get your knickers in a twist, no, there's no secondary blog community where everybody in the comments section who has their own information, and the blogger, get together to secretly chew over the dirt.
DeleteWhat IS the blog's business is what Scott and Tessa do in the public domain, what they market to the public. AAP is also the blog's business.
7:39pm - you're correct, more than correct, considering that energy drinks (which I don't drink) are loaded with caffeine. That little embed flew by me in focusing on the visual.
Delete"I love how because you haven't been given the exact answers you want from anonymous people on the internet, you've decided that nobody knows anything and some imaginary storyline you've concocted in your head is a plausible reality. "
DeleteI've learned that many people honestly don't find that problematic. I don't get it, but they don't.
A quote from Elena I. posted on FSU :
ReplyDelete" When you talk to someone from figure skating world it's like talking to the whole figure skating world. It's hard. Don't reveal anyone how happy you are so they can't spoil it. When someone knows you too well knows what makes you tick and makes you happy it's the point they would use against you to make you hurt the most. I did't know such evil people existed, but I faced them and now I know better. "
The narrative of this blog was always that everybody in the figure skating world knows about VM and actively supports their sham yet Elena says they're all snakes that can't be trusted cuz they'll all screw you over.
so what? everyone in figure skating knows that Lambiel is gay. does they tak about to press?
Deleteupd do they talk about it with fans or press?
DeleteWhy does "screw you over" mean "rat out on the internet" to you? This is an entire community/sport/extended community. There's psychological gamesmanship, backstabbing, distrust, story-spreading, often made-up (a LOT of that). Ratting out on the internet would only expose that person. Look at some of Elena's remarks (setting aside, no prejudice intended, that a lot of the mindset in Russian media/interviews seems to emphasize melodrama and conspiracy). Not telling what lipstick shade means what mood. Not letting people know when she's happy, because then it will be used to hurt or undermine her. Not confiding in other skaters, because then she may as well have told the entire skating world, because nobody keeps confidence. That doesn't mean "go to the internet". It means gossip.
DeleteLook at what people at the elite levels want. They all want some return on the investment they've made in the sport. It's not just the skaters who invest, it's those around them. Friends, coaches, hangers on, etc.
Look at the paranoia and hyper sensitivity and chip on the shoulder present in some of the parents and connections who have shown up on the internet either on message boards or social media. Look at the backstabbing reported here when it comes to how Tanith Belbin's connections tried to undermine Virtue and Moir, spreading stories that Tessa's cramp at the 4CCs meant she was training improperly and the cramp was her fault.
Look at some of the snakepit stuff that gets exposed any time there's a partner split. Moore Towers Moscovitch, as a team, presented themselves as the happiest, most functional pairs team in the sport. Meantime Kirsten was not only apparently resentful of what she perceived as lack of support from the Moscovitch side (whether financial or other) - she told her friends about it. I believe the report on fsuniverse.net that she had try-outs behind Dylan's back prior to the Olympics, and I believe that someone tried to warn Dylan (can't recall if the story had it as Katie Bobek or Ian's sister).
I think the biggest problem with fans understanding what Scott and Tessa are doing (lying about their marriage and child, marketing a fraud), is that fans are too self-serving. When it suits their purpose, they tell themselves they are a minor element of a skater's life, and skaters don't notice what the fans are saying and speculating on the internet. When it suits their purpose in the OTHER direction, fans are the only ones who get the truth, and fans are the first people skaters will tell (via the internet) when they want to undermine another skater.
One shouldn't ask if those who know about Virtue and Moir talk about it to the press; one should ask if they talk about it on the record. Different things.
^The whole figure skating world DOES know about Scott and Tessa.
DeleteLet me point out something about the Elena I. quotes on FSU. They are edited to slightly skew what she said.
DeleteRun the original interview through a translation program. The grammar, syntax and some translation may not be as clear as the fsu translation, but it's not going to make stuff up that's not there. For example, when Elena is asked about coaching, the fsu translation has her say "As for training - Morozov, of course". The translation program says: "Kohl of course, for the training program" and Morosov is a strong psychologist.
She says she asked both Scott and Tessa about post-Olympics Worlds competition, not only Tessa.
The interviewer said "just kidding!" when suggesting she should have grabbed Scott Moir as a partner.
No doubt the person on fsu would be dismissive of these differences, but the person edited out to create slight distortions that they preferred.
The entertainment world (the non-sport part of it) is often two-faced, full of resentments, competition, tons of money issues, favor-trading, betrayal, broken promises, gossip intended to undermine others, etc. Anybody who has been anywhere near it knows it can be a snake pit. Shit, I recently mentioned having watched "Life Itself" over the summer, and there are interviews where Siskel and Ebert defend their contentious relationship because they air it all to each other's faces, while the rest of the culture is about newspaper guys ripping each other to shreds behind each other's back at some bar.
DeleteHow often does one read about this show business person going after that show business person in public, on the web? These sectors don't take their dirt to the internet, or on the record, because it can blow up in that person's face, or you may need each other down the line. In figure skating, you never know who is going to be in bed with someone down the line, figuratively speaking. People are concerned about their income, their opportunities, the return on their investment, getting ahead, getting attention, getting what they think they deserve, etc. People are going to kiss Davis White's ass, for example, not only because the ISU insists on it, but because of money, opportunity, corporate sponsorship, shows, etc. That doesn't mean people don't know the score with them.
The one thing I am curious about when it comes to Scott and Tessa is how much opportunity they provide other people in the skating world. They're gracious in person, they mentor (advise, encourage, share, etc.), but it seems to me that when they won gold, it was expected that more people would benefit from their ascension. When I've been reading about Lance Armstrong, one person remarked that he took what he needed from other people, used them up like bananas and threw the peel on the road. Scott and Tessa seem to be working more on the margins and ad hoc than according to some over-arching marketing plan with a specific long term goals, and the golf-focused profile of their management team seems to ensure it will stay that way. I do wonder if, down the line, people start thinking there's not much in it for THEM to suck up, if things will change. That's quite a way down the line, however. It's also good to remember that while there's nothing in figure skating quite LIKE what Scott and Tessa are doing, there is a tremendous amount of lying and fronting, so there's a relativism to it we might not appreciate. Those who'd undermine Scott and Tessa most likely would be doing so for their own specific self-interest, and not because they're so ethical or morally outraged.
What Elena said that google translated to Kohl is "Kolya," which is the diminutive form for Nikolai, so it is a reference to Morozov, she just said "of course" between his first and last names. Elena tends to refer to her coaches in first name, friendly terms (she also calls Zhulin "Sasha" in this interview) rather than the traditional respectful patronymic like Tatiana Anatolievna Tarasova or Alexei Nikolaievich Mishin.
DeleteAs for the other things, I agree that it's a good idea to try and parse the translation for oneself, as translators may edit things out whether their reasons are editorial or just to save space or because something is not important (I doubt the audience for that article cared whether Elena asked Tessa or Tessa and Scott, but this blog would care). They also can choose which articles to translate at all, so unless we follow the Russian press, we'd never even know an article existed.
Thanks for the correction re Morosov - but they still edited out Scott and Tessa in favor of Tessa, and they edited out the context for the remark about Scott (that it was in jest). The fan also dismissed as irrelevant Elena's feelings about fans imposing artificial conflictual narratives on skating partners. I wouldn't criticize this fan, or look a gift horse in the mouth, as it were, if it weren't for experience. It's very common for a fan's report/translation to be a mixture of what actually happened, and their opinion/selective translation (literally or figuratively) about what happened/was said, and very common for a fan not to find the distinction important.
DeleteWe don't have to follow the Russian press, per se. Russian google exists. Plug the cyrillic version of Scott and Tessa's names in the browser and translate.
"One shouldn't ask if those who know about Virtue and Moir talk about it to the press; one should ask if they talk about it on the record. Different things."

Tessa at 8 months
I don't think Tessa's 8 months pregnant yet anyways. That is if by 8 months were talking about mid 30-something weeks.
DeleteDoesn't really matter since I highly doubt that picture T posted is current.
It's on her twitter. It has to be current. Tessa wouldn't misrepresent on her twitter.
Deletehttps://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bxs5xwRCcAAPhYk.jpg
DeleteCarolina is pregnant!
Maybe one of the geniuses who believes that if it's on twitter it has to be both real and current could tell me whether or not if I posted an old photo of myself on vacation in Hawaii several years ago today if I'd be magically transported back there or not.
DeleteI think what the photo shows is how her abdomen is normally concave. In this photo, it's not at all concave: http://oi57.tinypic.com/29c89wl.jpg
Hah - look at her behind the chair.
DeleteI love everybody's faces and hands in that picture, including the guy she's looking at, and the face on the woman on the right. So natural. So free of tension/self-consciousness. Ryan looks like he's taking a mental vacation. "I'm here, but not here! And what do I do with my hands? Okay - into the pockets!"
DeleteAnd now she tweets something closer to reality, to prove that the blog is wrong, and everything she does is really, really real and legitimate!
ReplyDeleteOh the games.
The thing I noticed about the photo is that Scott is dropping weight exactly like he always does this time of year.
DeleteThinking out loud, if they signed up for a show, how hard would it be to get it out of it later to compete? They signed up for the GP in 2010 and knew a very long time before the events that they wouldn't be competing... So, the same but different of that this time would be sign up for a show they have no intention of being in?
Well one of these pictures is old, because those are not the same person...
DeleteThey've been bashed for not doing anything for skating. Here they are taking all that money for high performance ice dance training, and they and their Federation tell us they're sidelined and minds not made up. All Scott and Tessa do is promote curling, golf and social recreation. What's skating? Oh, skating is what we pretend to do so we can take $36,000 in government money we have no right to take.
DeleteThat's the optics. Maybe they're trying to back and fill.
"So, the same but different of that this time would be sign up for a show they have no intention of being in?" Except I believe we're completely off base to assume there's any training issue with appearing in that show. Scott and Tessa have implemented and executed training programs many many times in the past, going back to way before they won gold. Their p.r. and sham may be a half-assed circle jerk of a clusterfuck, their training and athletic performance never has been left to chance. Any "issues" we perceive that don't appear to be addressed by Scott and Tessa either ARE addressed by Scott and Tessa, and we just look silly saying "They'll never be ready for Worlds in time if they skate the show! They need every second to train!" as if this isn't something Scott and Tessa take into account and plan for when they schedule shows/training/Worlds prep. There is nothing we can tell them about training challenges or obstacles. Nothing. Therefore, if something appears to be a voluntary obstacle (such as skating in a show), we can be sure it isn't, or they wouldn't be doing it.
DeleteOr the issue doesn't exist, and represents a deficit in our knowledge of high performance training/scheduling, not a problem with Scott and Tessa's prep.
But VM *do* have a history of signing up for events they have no intention of being in and they do repeat patterns.
DeleteI understand they wouldn't return unless it appeared the politics were in their favor, but I do wonder how this would play for them to skip all competitions and get a bye straight to worlds. I understand what you say about VM being the best and if they can go to worlds and that be their only competition and win and fair or not to ever is third at Canadians doesn't matter. However, after what we say this past quad, we know that it's far from being just about the skating and who's putting out the best performance on ice. This is a sport obsessed with everyone getting what they think they deserve. We saw how the skating community reacted to VM's stop at 4CC in 2013. We know that the skating community knows that VM are really married parents and are lying about it. We don't know what kind of good will there is and isn't for VM within the skating community at present. With so much focus on appearances in this sport, etc., I don't see how there wouldn't be factions who would perceive this unfair and could it then come back to bite VM in the backside?
We know the CoP says the sport is supposed to be one way, but we also know that how it operates in practice deviates a lot from that.
"I understand they wouldn't return unless it appeared the politics were in their favor, but I do wonder how this would play for them to skip all competitions and get a bye straight to worlds. I understand what you say about VM being the best and if they can go to worlds and that be their only competition and win and fair or not to ever is third at Canadians doesn't matter. However, after what we say this past quad, we know that it's far from being just about the skating and who's putting out the best performance on ice."
DeleteBut the points you make here don't work together. If Tessa and Scott are returning because they've been told this time they won't get screwed, then the bullshit we saw this past quad won't apply. It can't be both things at the same time. Of course they could be double-crossed, but that's the risk. Or they could be returning without any assurances about the politics.
They'll prepare according to their current circumstances better than you, I, or anyone else could do for them. When it comes to preparing for competition, pregnant, bad legs, not pregnant, challenging program, truncated training regimen, whatever - they know better than not just you or I, but better than anyone else in the sport. I think that's indisputable, no matter what it looks like from the outside. The outside is bullshit; we know that.
Bottom line - if politics don't apply, and Tessa and Scott are returning because they believe that, then we don't have to worry about the last quad. They'll be the best on the day, as always, and the best every day prior to that.
If Tessa and Scott are still going to get screwed, then they're going to be screwed, and just like last time, their narrative won't matter.
^Meant to say, granted, they do have a history of signing up for events they have no intention of doing (GP series 2010), and the fact that Tessa has amped up her and Scott's tremendous love for and excitement over skating in AOI should automatically be flagged as a potential lie. Anytime they throw it up like that, there's usually a lie behind it. We don't know, though, what the game plan may be. The amping up of AOI could be nothing more than "Show skating! That's all we've got planned for 2015 - so excited! AOI. Also in February - will be using my AAP subsidy for some shoe shopping - can get two pairs with January's check! Thanks Canadian tax payers!"
DeleteIf we can believe Skate Can (I know-that's a big "if" with a grain of salt), then those pictures were from today.
DeleteShe must have stayed up the rest of the night eating large bowls of fruit loops and chocolate and french pastries, and probably some wine, to change her body like that in a matter of hours.
Seriously, looking at her Twitter and seeing those pictures next to each other doesn't make it more obvious? I'm guessing she presented the old one knowing she would probably be pictured/videoed today... Because, if she looked like that (and was working out hard and drinking energy drinks) last night, then how she looks today must be a fluke, or lighting, or something...
Oh look, Scott is alive! I was beginning to wonder. Nobody had tweeted about him in over than a week. Weird!
Also, what are those odd looking contraptions on their feet? And that white shiny stuff they're standing on?
I think they may be actually touching in one of those pictures too. Maybe they've decided they can stand to be around each other after all.
Don't worry, she'll mainline caffeine, do all night on the treadmill, and drop that fruit loop, wine, chocolate and pastry bloat in a matter of hours!
DeleteWhat are they doing at a canskate thing with Skate Canada? Are they involved with figure skating somehow?
...right....the old "its not a current photo" excuse again....
ReplyDelete.@sackettrocket sounds remarkably like blogger....bullying tessa on twitter...
Not getting enough satisfaction on here? Need to get in her face? Nice.
Sicko
It's not an excuse, it's an establish pattern that works on duping people like you.
DeleteI thought blogger was @vmsuck.
DeleteHow is bullying exactly when it's my blog? It's like going into someone's house and telling them what they say in their own living room is bullying the people in some other state. You don't know what the word means.
Its a public forum not your living room moron. Its bullying. Your twitter is bullying. You are a bully. You have a bizarre excuse for everything to make it suit your twisted needs.
DeleteI couldnt care less about VM dont even follow skating. Just dont like what you do for entertainment.
If you could care less about VM and don't even follow skating, then HOW did you find your way here?
Delete^I'm waiting for that one too, because the usual excuse is "LOL, you blogger, you so crazy, but it's so entertaining I'm going to be here all the time. That way I can be superior to everybody on the blog AND be a 24/7 troll!"
DeleteHowever if they hate what the blog is doing "for entertainment", that indignation means they can't possibly be entertained by such an awful blog.
Why isn't it a silly blog? Isn't it silly, the worst kind of fangurlism, to insist a pair of obviously platonic figure skating business partners are actually married with a child? Isn't that silly/delusional, like half the fandom pages on the web? It's not OUTRAGE. Why so mad?
It's not my living room but it's my blog. Nobody, including Scott and Tessa, have to read it. They can ignore it. It's one place on the entire internet. It's not bullying, it's my place.
Are you crazy?
Delete"Its not bullying. Its my place."
Last time I checked you aren't Tessa Virtue or Scott Moir. Therefore you don't have the right to make up these lies.
This blog isn't enlightened commentary for those that are "smart" enough to "discover" the "truth". This blog is a verbal attack on 2 people.
Its disgusting.
Get a life.

My superior strength and influence. Thanks!
^It's not lies, it's the truth. I think you're lying to yourself, or the blog, about what makes you so furious. I don't think you were furious at the disgusting lies the scottmoirfuckedmyfriend tumblr was telling about Scott date raping underage girls and giving them STDs. Isn't that worse than saying they're married with a child? I bet to you it is. And you know why?
It's this - you're going to say - but scottmoirfuckedmyfriend was OBVIOUSLY LYING, and OBVIOUSLY crazy! But people believe the blog!
That's what drives you mental. Just like every other fan who has come here to have twelve meltdowns.
You pretend to think the blog is obviously lying and obviously crazy too - except you don't really think that. And that is what makes you so furious. That it's not that crazy, AND that there are people who believe it, and you have no control over it.
Please, I know you believe a whole bunch of stuff that is even more farfetched than what you pretend to think of the premise of the blog. It's just that you're comfortable with that stuff.
You're just another control freak fan who can't stand it that there's an anonymous place where screen name bullying can't intimidate people into silence or run them off into pms or email. YOU don't want the discussion to happen. It's all about you. You WISH the blog was a place where you could bully with the usual message board tactics, but it's not.
Surely you don't think Scott and Tessa need your help and protection? Or do you? How will shutting down the blog help them? It's far away from them, right? The blog has no impact on them right? If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it make a sound? If a blog is bullying Scott and Tessa but Scott and Tessa don't notice or care, is it really bullying?
Do you know there are blogs, way more popular than this one, that says the Clintons are murderers and their liberal cronies cover it up? You know why people don't have meltdowns on those blogs? Because crazy is crazy. Crazy on the web doesn't usually make people who don't share those beliefs this furious. The web has a place for every crazy school of thought in existence, and the people who don't buy into the crazy don't care, because ... obviously crazy. But you care.
DeleteYou know there's a place on the web - several places - that believe 9/11 was a Hollywood production and/or was engineered by the U.S. government? There's no rioting in the streets because - give it the hand wave. Those are tin hat crazies.
Do you customarily visit every place on the web that tells lies - surely you don't think this is the only blog that does. Why are you so hot under the collar about Scott and Tessa? Do you believe they need protection from you? Is there something particularly disgusting, particularly nauseating, criminal, amoral, about being married with a child?
Why would you think Scott and Tessa would be affected by such a silly, half assed attempt at bullying, something so ludicrous as saying they're married and have a daughter? Would you think Davis and White needed protection from a blog that said that about them? Nope, because that would obviously be a crazy, lying blog.
Your problem is you don't think the blog is as crazy and lying as you pretend to think, AND you would feel a whole lot better if people would just shut up, stop saying they believe it, stop talking about it, so you could be comfortable. It's about you, and your comfort, not about Scott and Tessa and what you think are the lies told about them. Plenty of lies are told about them. Only this one makes you furious. I'd look at that if I were you, considering the lie is only that they're married with a kid. Plenty of fans around the world believe and claim different movie stars and athletes have hooked up or are in love when they're not. Scott and Tessa point this out all the time. So the poor blog just snapped and went 100% into delusion-land, started a blog about its delusions and fellow crazies found the place and a community of nutjobs was born. What's it to you? It doesn't bother Scott and Tessa. Why does this lie, of all the lies about them, bother you?
Here's the answer: there is something particularly nauseating, particularly outrageous, particularly disgusting, about anyone suggesting that Scott and Tessa would LIE TO FANS.
DeleteFucking sheep and giving stds to under-age girls - you can handle that. LIE TO FANS? You can't.
Excuse me. But don't be so ignorant as to tell me how I feel. You don't know me. As a matter of fact I was enraged by that stupid Tumblr blog because, like this one, it was disgusting and clearly made up by some psycho.
DeleteI want this shut down because its the right thing to do, because this blog is in fact bullying: YOU ARE HARASSING PEOPLE. And encouraging such behaviour on other sites like Twitter.
Don't be so ignorant as to tell the blog it's lying when you have no idea of the reality, which is that they're married with a kid. You are relying upon what you believe must be true, your confidence in your perspective and reasoning, and your experience, however limited. The blog is doing the same thing when it makes an assessment about you based on the posts here.
DeleteSometimes you, without realizing it, hit upon something important and it goes right past you. No, Scott and Tessa are never asked if they're married with a kid. They're never asked, ha ha, some people believe you're secretly married with a child, does that bother you? I guess you just have to laugh.
Nope. It's always dating, or a couple. They always make up rumors, or shoot down obvious fake outs (like the Pelletier story made up by a fan).
The reason they're never asked if they're married with a child is because they are. If ever there was a blog visitor who came here looking through the wrong end of the telescope, it's you.
You are not going to shut the blog down. If all you do is come here and repeat, your comments won't stay up. Just now, you engaged, which is okay as long as it doesn't dominate the comments section talking about other things.
HOW is the blog harassing Scott and Tessa? Do you believe Scott and Tessa pay attention to the blog? Are influenced by the blog? Take the blog seriously enough to be troubled by it? This one blog, out of all the crazies out there? Why is that? Can you harrass someone if you stay on your own blog and the people you're harrassing aren't aware of it?
You don't know what words mean. You think all negative words mean the same thing. They have specific meanings. Bullying and harrassing are not the words for what the blog is doing.
Just a tip - you can't shut the blog down by coming here and acting out. You are perfectly free to attempt to shut it down by contacting google and telling it this blog is harassing people and bullying Virtue and Moir. See if google agrees. Maybe first read TOS instead of assuming bullying and harassing is stuff you personally don't like. After that, if google decides it does violate TOS, then google can shut down the blog. It's my blog, but I'm subletting from google, so to speak. Knock yourself out. As with much of your behavior here, you'd be the first to give it a try.
DeleteDon't be so ignorant as to tell the blog it's lying when you have no idea of the reality, which is that they're married with a kid.
DeleteYou are contradicting yourself so bad its hilarious.
Yes I do not know the reality of their personal relationship, but neither do you, despite how much you "claim" you do.
All I know is what I see. And what I see are 2 people who are just partners (as they have mentioned a million times before) and one of them even happens to be in a relationship as per the pictures on social media. Those are the FACTS, which you so love to deny.
No, I am not some idiot VM hopeless romantic fan who wants so desperately for them to be together but knows that isn't the reality, who believes 100% what she see in front of her either.
No I'm merely a person who admires their talent and work ethic, who understands that people, especially those with public lives, don't develop some ostentatious sham to deceive their fans because they want attention, which they already have given their athlete status.
So tell me who's right and who's wrong here?
The person who refuses to accept the facts as they are and instead creates a conspiracy theory, the person who thinks its perfectly sane and acceptable to stomp into and over peoples private lives; ridiculing them over and over down to something as stupid as their food choices.
Or the person that doesn't give a shit about TM private lives because she knows it doesn't exist, because she understands that TM aren't sick enough to string people along all so that they can remain "relevant" and keep people guessing.
Get your head out of your ass:
DeleteBullying and harrassing are not the words for what the blog is doing.
Please. You just say that to make yourself feel better. The fact that you can't see how this blog and musings are harassment and an incubator for malicious conversations is even more proof that you are a despicable person.
In regards to your diatribe from a few hours ago...the popular "crazy on the web" conspiracy theories you've cited have to do with significant, widely-known, usually political events/figures: the Clintons, 9/11. Speaking personally, it's very jarring to see conspiracy theories, and the rhetoric of conspiracy theorists, applied to inconsequential ice dancers. The FS world is definitely a gossip mill, but your language and writing style is disturbing and is certainly more suited to a mainstream conspiracy blog than an FS gossip blog. You are extremely hostile, very angry, and very protective of your sense of superiority. You dismiss questioning of your theories as "meltdowns" or "acting out" and delete comments that address this. It is pretty bizarre to see all of this directed toward the personal lives of skaters, and I think that is why this site is intriguing to FS fans who would not normally engage with your type.
Deleteou are extremely hostile, very angry, and very protective of your sense of superiority. You dismiss questioning of your theories as "meltdowns" or "acting out" and delete comments that address this.
Delete^^^^^THIS
COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF
LULZ. It isn't bullying to tell the truth about V/M, which is that they are in fact married with a child. OH, THE HORROR!
DeleteThe acting out and shit fits in the comments, the ridiculous assessments of what constitutes bullying or defamation in this case, are all indications that some people are pissed as fuck they can't bully people into shutting up over here. Too bad.
I'm guessing that as long as V/M continue lying to the public, they'll get called out for it on this blog. Don't like that? Tough shit.
Three and a half years worth of bizarre still is novel enough to get 100+ comments in the comments section in the off season.
DeleteOkay. Despite the back and forth, you, up there, should still back up what you say. For example "You are contradicting yourself so much it's ridiculous" needs an example. You have to demonstrate you understand what bullying and harassing is, not use your own definition, ignore the dictionary's, and fail to explain the difference between critique, criticism, and harassment. If you don't get it, and can't explain it, and can only repeat it, your comments won't stay.
You're just hurling shit at the wall, taking anything said in response to you and throwing it back because you lack ideas of your own, so "you are!" is all you've got. That being the case, don't come back until you can back up what you say. Scott and Tessa are married. The reality is you don't know differently, and can't know differently, because it's the truth. All you're relying upon is your own know-nothing fan assumptions about how Scott and Tessa engage fans, even though you know nothing about them.
If you don't like the blog, and continue to refuse to do anything in the comments section but pick up what's been said to you and throw it back, have tantrums, and decide words mean whatever you want them to mean, no more of your comments will stay live. If this makes you so so so so mad, and you are so so so so so sure the blog should be taken down, go to google and get it going. Good luck to you.
^^^ Congrats 6:03, you've done a masterful job at revealing your complete idiocy. Thanks for the laughs.
DeleteWow. That was enlightening, and it definitely made me see your side of things, over all the other well-versed and thought out posts on this board, that give eloquent reasons for the facts presented, and consistently back it up with reliable examples.
Delete4:45 - you don't have to convince me you couldn't have said it better yourself.
Delete^Clearly, some people's definition of "bullying and harassing" is "you won't shut up when I want you to."
Delete^speaking of the boat photo, where is Tessa's "summer weight gain" in that shot?
ReplyDeleteRe: Fruit Loops, it's called DIPEing (documented instances of public eating.) Celebrities do this right after their low weight is criticized, as a way to brag, "Look how much I eat!"
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Never heard that phrase before. Kind of funny that Tessa is doing it while her higher-than-usual weight is being noticed. Rather unconventional for such an image and fashion conscious athlete.
DeleteI've never heard of that acronym, but I've seen celebrities do that before, as if there's no such thing as bulimia. Well, actually everybody knows that bulimia is common, but for this purpose, the celebrity who wants their eating documented (extra points if junk food to show how relaxed/carefree/un-obsessed they are about calories/food) and the media that runs the picture/caption all pretend the only eating disorder out there is anorexia. Therefore if seen with food and/or eating, no problem.
DeleteThat said, and while generally speaking athletes do have to watch what they eat, plenty of athletes have frequent, but not fatal, lapses from perfectly healthy diets/snacks.
With Tessa, who knows what she's conveying. I'm traveling again - and having a crap breakfast loaded with empty calories and sugar! What baby?
DeleteLook at me mainlining caffeine and up all night! What baby?
It also looks like "what training?"
That is the problem with their current construct. They've proved they're lying, one way or another. Either they are abusing Sport Canada's athlete funding money (lying) and taking money that doesn't belong to them (by lying), because they're Scott and Tessa and the rules don't apply to them, OR they, and Skate Canada, are lying by presenting Virtue and Moir as undecided about continuing in skating and not currently preparing to compete, because they actually qualify for the money due to a medical exception and a training plan that will take them to Worlds 2015.
Patrick Chan is sidelined "for now" too. How come he doesn't get any money? Shouldn't he get his $18,000 while he makes up his mind about next season? I'm sure he's got uses for it, if only new golf clubs, maybe, or some shoes he's obsessed with, or a concert he wants to attend.
What makes Scott and Tessa different. And they're getting it x 2.
Is her low weight being criticized? All I've seen is people saying she's looks perfect, or is heavier for an ice dancer, or is pregnant (but still in great shape).
DeleteI'm not sure the original poster meant that it applies to Tessa literally, but there's a lot of image messaging celebs do both on social media and with the cooperation of the media. Much of the time it has something to do with misdirection about their love life (if they're miserable, they want to prove they're happy, if they were dumped, they want to convey they actually did the dumping or the person who dumped them regrets it, or they've moved on to something better). A whole lot of the time it has to do with product placement. I've seen the food thing, but not recently. I am not always totally on top of hot topics, but I don't know if there's a celebrity constantly under scrutiny at the moment for how much they're eating or not eating. Celebrities have definitely done it before, and as I've said, it's almost always junk food, MacDonalds being a big favorite. Tessa just seems to be doing - look, empty calorie, sugar cereal - wouldn't I give a baby better nutrition?
DeleteHeidi Klum is currently under a lot of fire for having lost a lot of weight in a short time yet constantly posting pictures of her standing next to junk food and pies. yes, standing next to it, she never actually eats any of it. At least not on camera. Sometimes she holds a burger near her mouth, giving the impression of eating it, but that's about it.
DeleteShe's been doing it for years but only recently fans and media picked it up.
4:09 PM, ah. It's true, Tessa's social media gambits are directly out of the denial playbook. Denial when it's true, of course. Food is a major one, as you've pointed out with Heidi Klum. As I've mentioned, people's love lives is another one. There's a reality show star that had a habit of hooking up with married men - more than once she's done it. She'll counter-act buzz by staging pap walks with friends, co-workers and friends of friends, usually guys with some kind of reality show or tabloid profile of their own. She's as basic with that as Tessa is with her twitter. Nobody ever wonders why her pap/perp walks with friends/co-workers and friends-of are one-offs. It distracts from the married hook-up, done and done.
DeleteTessa's call and response routine is pretty basic, but in her case, she's the one who got the ball rolling, set it up. This - the discussion here, the dl discussion elsewhere - any agitation or pushback on twitter - is pretty much what she wants to have happening. I don't think she wants to "win" twitter in the sense of having everybody agree - okay, my bad, not pregnant - carry on, Tessa. If that ever happened, an instagram upload of her looking like a Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon would surface so fast our heads would spin.
So Tessa and Scott lie about pretty much everything; their marriage, their child, their families, their living situation, their training, pregnancy, vacations, S.O.s, pictures, parties and sightings.
ReplyDeleteYet it is somehow completely unimaginable that they would break up on friendly terms and continue to play it up on the ice for the Olympics ? Of all things this is somehow impossible ?
I'm not saying they broke up, I just wonder why this blog and the people posting here find this so utterly impossible.
VM have been accused of ( and lied about ) pretty much everything else so why is their marriage such a sacred crow ? VM clearly don't consider their marriage sacred, otherwise the sham wouldn't exist so why are fans so eager to defend it when it comes into question ? In a way it's not much different from the Tumblr fan fiction shippers.
Sacred cow , not crow :)
DeleteMy answer is that just like with everything else that is fact about VM, being married parents, there are people who know that VM are still married to each other. Contrary to the beliefs of some, not all information regarding VM is 3 years old.
DeleteI guess what's next is that you're going ask for proof. AmIRight?
^I think you are right. I also think this is an obvious tactic. An attempt to bait the blogger and others into producing proof. It is NOT three years old! Here's how!
Delete^Hey you up there - somebody on the comments section was actually kind enough, not that long ago, to share that they, personally, got their information about a year ago. Is that not good enough, or do you demand people tell you what they know that proves Scott and Tessa didn't get divorced in 2013-2014?
DeleteYou are trying to bait people into coughing up more info.
I enjoy this blog, solely for the reason that the blogger knows an incredible amount of figure skating and demonstrates how T&S are the greatest ice dance team of all time. However, whether or not they are married with a child, is none of anyone's business. They owe me nothing, and already they have given myself and millions, beautiful and irreplaceable memories on the ice. What they do in their spare time, is their business, and if they are married with child, that's their business and no one else's. I don't feel duped or angry about "their hidden life" at all, because they owe us nothing aside from performing in the ice.
DeleteI've got to say jujubeanie90 from twitter, and I'm certain you're on here, you are absolutely ridiculous. What you're doing is harassment, and you are insane. To defile someone's character and demand answers via social media, is absurd and it's sad really that you find it okay that you spend your time ignorantly commenting on everything Tessa tweets. It's sad, wrong and disgusting. Period.
Just report it.
Delete"there are people who know that VM are still married to each other"
Delete^ this.
It is true that VM's personal life isn't anyone's business. It's not keeping it private that bothers me. What bothers me is the baiting and meanspirited games they play with fans. When they decided to play those games with fans, a group of which I am a member, they made it my business. There is a difference between maintaining privacy and outright hoaxing the public. What VM do is the latter.
DeleteI'm 2:03
DeleteWow, hostile much ? No need to get so defensive.
I didn't ask for proof and I wasn't baiting ( I could care less if they're happy or not, I don't know them personally and as long as they keep skating I am happy ), I just wanted to know why this blog is so eager to shut down even the slightest possibility that VM's marriage isn't all flowers and roses.
If you have inside info or not doesn't matter because at the end of the day you have no idea what's happening in VM's bedroom. You don't know if they're still lovey-dovey or if they've already moved into seperate bedrooms. Unless you are Tessa or Scott you will never know how they feel about each other, no matter how much inside info you may have.
As if faking a happy marriage in front of friends and family is such an uncommon thing. It happens all the time.
Completely disregarding it just because you have " proof " and it doesn't fit into your narrative is quite naive. Especially when you're one of the first people to mock and ridicule the shippers on Tumblr. What you're doing isn't very different from them.
Whatever floats your boat.
They aren't baiting you, stop being so sensitive.
DeleteTelling someone to stop being so sensitive is a tactic to intimidate them into shutting up. The poster made valid points.
Delete"When they decided to play those games with fans, a group of which I am a member, they made it my business. There is a difference between maintaining privacy and outright hoaxing the public. What VM do is the latter."
Delete^^This, a thousand times.
I don't get people saying it doesn't matter, it's their business, as long as they skate pretty, blah blah blah. Okay, normally all those things would be true. Someone's private life is their business. But as the above quote says it so well, Tessa and Scott have NOT kept their personal narratives private.
They specifically, with intent to hook my interest, sell me a hoax. That makes their games my business. As a fan who is being manipulated and lied to (or they're trying to, at least) I have every right to examine what they say and do and also have an opinion. If my opinion happens to be that what they are doing is not okay, I can say that.
This blog has done the fandom the favour of speaking the truth and allowing the truth to be discussed. Calling people names and throwing tantrums doesn't change the facts nor does it whitewash what VM are doing.
Valid points? Claiming that because fans can't go into V/M's bedroom that means they may no longer be married is not making a valid point, it's creating an inane and unsupportable strawman, shifting the burden of proof onto everybody else, and then retaining the sole discretion to decide whether everyone else has disproved the inane and unsupportable strawman. It's shadowboxing with a bunch of useless theories created to try and rationalize away how V/M could have gotten married and a had a child without publicizing it while continuing to lie about being platonic and dating other people. Well, they DID get married and have a child without publicizing it, they remain married with a child, and they're still lying about being platonic and dating other people. That is a fact, not a theory. V/M are hoaxing the public. Their "significant others" are not actually significant others, but people playing parts in a designed hoax that is relatively simple to carry out, mostly on social media. I have no idea why this is so hard for some people to grasp, except to assume they don't want to grasp it because that would mean they'd have to admit they've fallen for the hoax and been taken for fools by the people doing the hoaxing (V/M).
Delete"I don't get people saying it doesn't matter, it's their business, as long as they skate pretty, blah blah blah. Okay, normally all those things would be true. Someone's private life is their business. But as the above quote says it so well, Tessa and Scott have NOT kept their personal narratives private."
DeleteYes. It becomes the public's business when V/M's own business agenda revolves around hoaxing the public. They are deliberately lying to consumers as part of their business plan to extract support and money from those consumers. V/M's real private life is completely separate from the narratives they're utilizing in their public hoax and has nothing to do with what is being talked about here. It also seems that the only people talking about V/M's actual private life behind closed doors - or rather, speculating about it - are the ones who are upset they don't have the "proof" they want of V/M's marriage and child. Those people really need to look in the mirror next time they accuse this blog of stalking or violating V/M's privacy or whatever the hell they're incorrectly claiming it's doing.
"It also seems that the only people talking about V/M's actual private life behind closed doors - or rather, speculating about it - are the ones who are upset they don't have the "proof" they want of V/M's marriage and child."
DeleteBang on.
"I have no idea why this is so hard for some people to grasp, except to assume they don't want to grasp it because that would mean they'd have to admit they've fallen for the hoax and been taken for fools by the people doing the hoaxing (V/M). "
DeleteI think that's it, but there's also the fact that a very small - and it is small - segment of the VM fandom has always revolved around speculation and theories about VM and not much else. They dislike the idea that VM's narrative is a done deal, and is behind closed doors. What can they talk about, since VM don't open the bedroom door? How does it feel to be completely played by the very people they patronize (VM) and the very people they credit with less insight and self awareness than others possess about them. These fans think they know VM better than VM know VM - they can "see" them the way VM are unable to see themselves. It's even more galling that VM know this, and play into it, as others have observed. They know what's speculated about them, and they take the most inane theories and feed them back to that audience. The reality show is proof of that. Every idiotic idea about Scott, every pitiable idea about Tessa was brought to life in the reality show and amped up 1,000X. It was ridiculous. Even many of the people who had those theories in the abstract didn't buy it when they were played out in the reality show, and that's because it's not who VM are, or even close. VM are basically pandering to fan ego a/k/a using that ego to make fools of fans.
That idea galls these fans. They've been trying to shoot the messenger. Look at the ludicrous, absurdly inflated attacks. What is disgusting, implicitly criminal, outrageous, etc. about the blog's premise? These athletes are lying, because the truth is they're married. Fans don't care that athletes lie. These fans know VM have lied about tons of stuff, I don't see them caring. These fans dismiss the lies about the rift, the clear lying VM are currently doing about their competitive intentions (AAP) gets a hand waved. They don't care that VM lie.
The blog says that they're lying about this one thing, and THAT's slander? The blog isn't saying Scott and Tessa are child trafficking. The blog says Scott and Tessa are married and have a child. That's not an outrageous accusation in itself. It's true. If it weren't true, it would just be silly - another fan delusion. It shouldn't cause foaming at the mouth, but it does.
I've yet to have a fan, not those that just visited here, or others, explain the foaming at the mouth, the torch and pitchfork attitude towards a blog they claim is promoting a silly, ridiculous, delusional fan theory like a million other theories all over the web. I know the explanation, and that explanation produces more foaming at the mouth. It's because it galls them, the idea that someone is telling them Scott and Tessa are playing them for fools. I get it to a point. Imagine patronizing a couple of people the way some fans patronize Scott and Tessa, and learning you're the dupe.
OC 5:22. I've seen a lot of the "throwing fits" comments also revolve around what they perceive as a harsh and mean tone from the blog. But that is a separate issue from the facts and I think many of those people have a difficult time separating the two. They react to some comment they think is "angry" and for some reason in their minds that indicates that whatever is being said must also be false (gasp! it's "mean!" "therefore it's not true!!").
DeleteThe tone, or whatever, is personal, both in the personal style of expression or how they interpret someone else's tone. I personally don't take offense at this blog's reaction to wrong things (i.e. VM's lying games) but I think some people have a hard time getting past some of the "tone" and instead of focusing on the content, they're reacting to the other.
Not to disagree that the main reason for coming in here and throwing fits is what 5:22 describes. But I think this other factor also adds to the level of the tantrums. Many fans in other places (like tumbler, and the previously very active Addicted facebook place) spend a great deal of time scolding each other for any perceived lack of "niceness." Then they come in here and no one is treating VM with kid-gloves. It violates some rule they think applies to any discussion about VM.
I never understand how they don't realize that if VM are hoaxing the public, and have been doing so now for many many years, it has to point to some serious underlying issues, whether that be in their characters, their families/hometowns, their PR, their Federation,or something else. Of course there's going to be speculations and discussions about that. It's valid to question where this all comes from. And wherever it comes from, it can't be pretty. That makes the blog "mean" to be digging around trying to find the realities about VM.
But for those fans who only want "niceness", it's a horrible thing to talk about VM in anything other than reverent tones. It's supremely ironic they come in here and have a million fits that this place is supposedly delusional and a fantasy. The real VM fantasyland is the one they inhabit where VM are "gods", and they can do no wrong.
I do get it about the tone, but that's life. Blogs have different styles of expression. The blog reflects my choice of expression on this subject. If people are going to come in and cloak themselves in righteous indignation about a blog that's three and a half years old, as if the day they discovered it is the day that counts, and they've anointed themselves to tell the blog about itself, it might help if they if they paused for breath and read past the tone. If they can't deal with the tone of the blog, they need to nut up and ignore it, because the tone isn't going to change, and that includes the tone when I deal with certain comments here.
DeleteI actually don't think the VM fantasyland is where VM are gods and can do no wrong. The fantasyland is where fans watch VM, but VM aren't aware they're being watched or discussed, because VM are too busy/have other concerns. The fantasyland is the one where fans have more insight about Virtue and Moir's relationship than Virtue and Moir themselves. The fantasy land of VM is a self-serving one that preserves fan access, freedom, and ego.
I understand that some people don't believe the facts are what they are, but, one or two people aside, I also don't believe those are the people who come to the blog in full tantrum mode. The people who pitch fits tend to have trouble with logic, tend to argue by taking whatever's thrown at them and just throwing it back, and by declaring something instead of supporting their point, and they also appear to believe their rage is an entitlement.
BTW, I think the blog pisses off another segment of fans, which is those that know about Scott and Tessa, but consider themselves skating insiders, and superior to your average fan, and consider themselves more along the line of a member of the skating community than fans. What they are, really, are groupies. The blog and blogger is an outsider who shouldn't have put this classified info on the web. That's for insiders to know, the elite to know and talk about and speculate about. As has been pointed out here quite a few times, among the biggest "that blog is insane" posters on the skating message boards are posters who almost certainly also know that Scott and Tessa are married with a child. But saying so to the great unwashed is just.not.done. Clearly if you read the message boards for any length of time, controlling the discussion is big there. It's petty power tripping.
DeleteSo... apparently someone just hacked Tessa's twitter lol #creepytweet Everyone is so fucking confused, its hilarious... or maybe Tessa lost her mind. Who knows? Lmao
ReplyDeleteMaybe she's just putting it out there to see how the blog will react and try to interpret or analyze it.
DeleteOr someone hacked.
Or maybe she's just tweeting about how trendy hedgehog fashions are this season. Not that odd sorry to disappoint.
DeleteWho is disappointed?
DeleteShe wants to portray a silly, vapid, college-girl image. I wouldn't be surprised that's really her. All that la-di-da life is about empty pursuits. I wish she would just shut the stupid thing down. It was better having her live in a bubble where the image of her was someone hard-working and intelligent (liar, but not stupid). Now she's just stupid.
DeleteShe's not going to shut down her main source of shamming, at least not now.
DeleteYeah it's a trend (just google hedgehog sweaters or socks). Tbh I immediately thought of a baby theme. Especially because a fan tweeted about owls as another trend. When I went to buy a friend a baby gift last year, everything was owls. Towels, cloths, onesies. The sweaters are cute too though.
Deletemy first immediate thought went to clothing made out of hedgehog fur/skin or whatever
Delete"She wants to portray a silly, vapid, college-girl image. I wouldn't be surprised that's really her. All that la-di-da life is about empty pursuits. DeleteExactly this...
9:04, I thought baby theme/little kids clothes too. Shopping for nursery?
Delete"I wish she would just shut the stupid thing down. It was better having her live in a bubble where the image of her was someone hard-working and intelligent (liar, but not stupid). Now she's just stupid."
DeleteWe know that as the sham went along, they decided even their real personalities was too good for the public. Shit, even the skating is too good for the public.
Figure skating commentary is useless, we were all taught that this past Olympics. Nobody's giving their actual analysis. They're reading from propaganda sheets. That said, very happy to see the end of Bezic and Hamilton. They are the worst.
ReplyDeleteI hope Tessa is happy with herself. Hope she realizes how stupid she comes across, but that's probably what she is aiming for. So sad.
ReplyDeleteShe's stupid now because she's having issues with auto-correct? A mistake in which everyone experiences? OKay then I guess...
ReplyDeleteSo this industry person thought "they" were a beautiful couple?
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/SHANNONKOOK/status/512758741460979713
Who's they - Tessa and Ryan? I don't even see Ryan in the picture. The only photo of Tessa at that link is a solo shot.
LOL at "assumed you were in the industry." Oh Tessa, you're so chic and celeb and glam! Not like Scott, because I totally wouldn't have thought you guys were a beautiful couple if he'd been there.
I didn;t get the tweet and was thinking 'Who the hell is he talking about Tessa and Her invisible date Rodion Sepple"?
DeleteHow stupid do they think we are?
DeleteWe're meant to believe he was going through two-week-old articles about TIFF and, seeing a pic of Tessa, he remembered how he totally thought she and her date were a beautiful movie star couple! (they must have made quite the impression). He then makes a point of tweeting about the couple, not just Tessa, but can't be bothered to find a picture with Ryan in it, figure out who he is, or even give him a separate identity as her date (apparently Tessa's a beautiful couple all on her own...) It's also merely a coincidence that both "credible" people who commented on the couple did so in a bizarre manner, mistakenly referring to pictures that weren't there. Honestly, anyone who's paying attention and isn't at least a little suspicious of this "relationship" is lying to themselves.
"apparently Tessa's a beautiful couple all on her own.."
DeleteLol, yes, I was confused by this whole thing as well. Guess they're just "reminding" us that they went together and everyone there thought they looked great together and assumed they were some movie star couple. Since there's hardly any pictures of them actually together, or that look like they even care to be there together, or where they are even looking at each other (apparently this goes for both shams this time around), they have to have people on Twitter talk it up as if it were legitimate. The response about figuring they would see her and her "group" later is funny too. What group?
It's like the picture her friend posted of her from the photo shoot with amazing abs. Or her workout picture. This is what she really looks like, see! Skinny, indented stomach. I expect more and more of these type of old pictures to be shared and leaked for the next few months to "remind" us.
That entire exchange couldn't be more up each other's asses if they tried. I think it comes naturally.
DeleteLooks like she's priming her Instagram now too.
Delete9:52
DeleteYay. Vapid self-absorbed Tessa on two social media platforms.
Although it is hilarious all the fans falling over themselves with fawning response posts are always the same ones and even on instagram, it will still be the same group of dummies telling queen Tessa how fabulous she is.
I get a kick out of Johnny Weir, along with Tara, becoming for all intents and purposes the voice of North American figure skating in the broadcast booth, considering how some of the past generation's star skaters used to react to his name.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 4:14 am - I was also intrigued by one of Tessa's besties recent shout-out to her and then you have these post TIFF twitter ramblings...to me it seems very "Entourage"...perhaps Tessa is not getting the amount of marketing opportunities post-Olympics as she thought she might be - whether in terms of pushing product (ie. L'Oreal or perhaps some Procter/Gamble) or perhaps television (as a media personality)...who knows...but then again look at the entity that representing her...also factor in that Tessa's market is Canadian and let's face it - I don't think David Baden and IMG is going let to let Joannie Rochette fall off the radar....
ReplyDeleteI don't think Tessa's twitter has anything to do with marketing opportunities. It's her fake persona. She's not going to present herself as having anything but the most vapid thoughts in her head, just like Scott is ADHD and too busy shooting, fucking, drinking and being a hooligan to read anything or care about his image.
DeleteThey don't want people to perceive them as smart, for obvious reasons.* I don't know why they don't want people to perceive them as figure skaters except when it's the day before a competition, but the sham has long since become their primary brand. No, they can't compete with IMG, but they're Olympic gold medalists, as a couple they're gorgeous, they've got most of the media blowing sunshine up their back ends, and they'll continue to have opportunities.
If they don't have as many after the Olympics as anticipated, that's the choice they made. Can't be amended by anything on twitter. They're not with the management company that specializes in Olympic athletes and figure skaters - IMG. Even when they were "with IMG" they were with an irrelevant division and not with figure skating or Olympics. The IMG Olympic and figure skating arm has corporate relationships, corporate partnerships, and puts together all kinds of packages for its talent. Somebody's twitter account can't compete with that. IMG is one stop shopping.
*The thing I love about Virtue Moir is they will run their branding/marketing like this, and then when it's time to compete and they do interviews around the competition, they start talking about all the misconceptions about them, how people don't get this or that, and suddenly let their brains show, and they act like the people to whom they are addressing their remarks have been too stupid to perceive what Scott and Tessa are all about.
The TIFF ramblings are an attempt to max out that sham event. Maybe it didn't have the impact they wanted. You know how DW's choreography, and all clever choreography, use tricks to extend an element? Make it appear there's more to it than there is, using posing, gesture, music? Tessa is stretching her TIFF outing.
I wonder what kind of impact they expected from TIFF? Methinks their reality show impact has also turned out to be less than expected.
DeleteThe reality show was a flatline. I think there was more action about the reality show on the blog than most places. It was embarrassing. And it was misogynist. They shot for one thing and missed by miles. Years ago the popular conception of platonic Virtue and Moir was Scott was pining, but girls mature faster than boys and she was interested in mature, sophisticated somewhat older men. Then, and thanks in part to Tessa herself repeatedly talking about what a babe magnet Scott was as a child, how she was just one among many girls who had crushes on him, and thanks to Scott parading his fake love life on social media while Tessa was lying low, the fans began to speculate along Madonna/Whore lines. Poor Tessa. That's the meme Virtue and Moir took into the reality show. Tessa in sort of a good girl, bookish, old soul mode. The problem there is they were so heavy handed Tessa actually came across as unbearably neurotic, marginally talented, incessantly annoying, so spoiled she lacked the ability to appreciate anything in her skating life and forever fixated on inane issues that wouldn't hit the radar of anybody in the real world. In her reality show world, everybody was judging her and everything was Tessa's fault, because Tessa ran the world. Nobody had a mood that wasn't caused by Tessa, that wasn't an excuse for Tessa to ruminate about herself yet AGAIN. Nobody had anything better to do than judge Tessa. In case we missed it, Tessa's talking heads instructed us how to react. The reality show made me suspect that Scott Moir has a penis - I'm not sure, but I think that's what the reality show was saying. We got to see him pee outside, too, just in case we suspected he peed sitting down. They were both moody, bitchy and beyond, beyond, beyond BEYOND self-absorbed, not very nice, and not people you'd want to be around, because they'd probably roll their eyes at you behind your back.
DeleteMeantime the promotion for it kept telling us we were going to see sparkly, upbeat, charming Scott and Tessa. The whole thing left a sour taste and people tuned out.
As to TIFF, there is no way ANY reaction could have possibly matched the self-congratulation around that red carpet walk.
Delete^I also always get the impression Scott and Tessa believe that two wrongs make a right. Scott has all this sham litter all over the web; now it's mommy's turn. They both did it, so there's no confusion, and it's okay.
Delete@8:42 AM
DeleteWhat an absolutely perfect description of that piece of junk they tried to call a documentary.
My favorite is Tessa and Scott for months and months saying they were so happy to do this, to share their real selves and the real behind-the-scenes of an Olympic season. Could anything be more indicative of the huge amount of deception that is that thing they call *real.* Their *public personas* are a trainwreck. And now Tessa's twitter antics are only confirming how messed up their PR is.
Looking forward to hear which skaters pissed Johnny off at some point. He's incapable of seperating the skating from his personal opinion.
ReplyDeleteTara is an idiot.
I hope they won't replace Tracy with Tanith.
7:13 AM - oh my God. Bite your tongue. And yet I wouldn't be surprised.
ReplyDeleteIf Tracy was let go, would she be able to (finally) say what she *really* knows about the corruption that got DW the gold? I would love to also hear her *real* opinion of DW's skating especially vis a vis VM.
ReplyDeleteIf someone somewhere would start cracking that impenetrable protection around the ISU...
Well what's more fitting for a sport that's all about corruption and cheating, than having someone who won her OGM by cheating all her jumps as the authoritative voice.
ReplyDeleteWhat forum would she have if she were let go?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Tracy would still likely be working for the Canadian networks even if NBC also replaces her. However, the Canadian media was just as complicit in covering up DW's heist of the OGM as the US media. I don't think Tracy will ever be in the professional position to be able to say what she really thinks. It would be career suicide.
ReplyDeleteOC @ 5:06, yep, I wonder how Scott Hamilton feels that NBC decided the American public were more likely to take to Weir than him.
ReplyDeleteTanith actually is not a bad commentator except for where D/W were concerned (but OMG, the things she said about them and V/M.) So, I'd be concerned that she would continue justifying the situation, but if she could keep the D/W chatter to a minimum, she's better at the job than some. Will often say meaningful, accurate things about lower ranked teams.
And agreed, the Canadian networks were not better. Not better at all.
Tracy is part of Orser's coaching team and she certainly wouldn't want to ruin a skaters chances by speaking up.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Tanith or Charlie are involved with Marina's camp Tanith will be a horrible choice. She blindly praises Marina's teams and rips Igor's to shreds no matter what they do on the ice.
There aren't many opportunities for commentators these days, they need their coaching jobs to make a living.
As long as the ISU keeps an iron grip around them we won't hear anything useful from them regarding the top ranked teams.
Look at this tumbler, this fan posted that time after Worlds 2010 when Scott said he and Tessa were going on a romantic retreat to Monaco.
ReplyDeleteBwhahahahaha.
And for all those who might have thought this blog and comments are making things up saying VM bait the fans and then produce sham - well, here you go.
http://canyoufreakingjustnot.tumblr.com/
HA!
ReplyDeleteOh, the irony in her recent favorited W network tweet. Be nice if she would truly take it to heart...
11:40
ReplyDeleteI don't see mindless unreasonable anger. I see a place exposing the wrong things someone else is doing. What, that's not allowed? The fans who are asked to play dumb (and pay money) can't call a lie a lie?
You must be one of the dumb, credulous fans. Fine. Stay away from any discussion about reality. Coming in here and bullying people doesn't change any of the facts. *shrug*
Tessa sure has been a busy little bee on her social media toys the last couple days. I think we can guarantee what all that means.
ReplyDeleteHere comes some sham!!
(Specially scripted and acted out for the dear fans they love so much.)
The fan baiting continues. Now Tess posted a picture of herself in a shirt that looks similar to one of Scott's and fans are wondering if it's one of Scott's or where she got it from.
ReplyDeleteWell..I'm fairly certain it *is* Scott's, but you are totally right about the baiting.
DeleteWe'll see Ryan wearing it in the next couple of days then.
DeleteOh, sorry, I mean OMG SHE'S WEARING SCOTT'S SHIRT AND PLANNING A DINNER PARTY! COULD IT BE? FINALLY! THEY REALIZED THEY WERE MEANT FOR ONE ANOTHER ALL ALONG. <3
Almost every Canadian owns similar plaid shirts. All they need to do is insert a picture of RS wearing his plaid that is like Tessa's, all the way from wherever he is, far away from VM, and voila, in the photos it can look like he loaned Tessa *his* shirt *and* he's right next to her.
DeleteThere's also a handy thing called photoshopping. They can make any narrative look *real* if they put their minds to it. And we know all they've been doing PR-wise since they were bb's is thinking up ways to hoax the public. They're having fun with their latest versions of the hoax, where it is (for now and only for now) about Tessa's super-duper single/dating life.
"We'll see Ryan wearing it in the next couple of days then. "
DeleteYep, that was my first thought as well, even if it is Scott's.
She was clearly playing with funky lighting and filters in the version of it she herself posted anyways.
"Great Grandma's dinner plates" are going to be the Quinn Moir of this one.
Delete4:32 - Ryan could have been photographed in the same shirt months ago, and the image banked. Or Tessa did. Then voila - she must have gotten up Sunday with Ryan.
DeleteFinally, when we watch Tessa on twitter and instagram, it's pretty easy to see that Jessica Dube's shamming patterns and shamming style on facebook were not her own.
DeleteOC 6:46
DeleteYES!
How fun for Tessa. Now she gets to direct *two* shams plus--special bonus--she gets to be part of the action instead of remaining mostly in the background!
Aww. Adorable sweet Tessa.
Remember how coy Jessica would be? People watching her facebook would be all - now why is she sharing that, in particular? Apropos of nothing, and kind of cryptic too. We'd find out soon enough when - BAM. Tessa's visuals are different but her twitter, sans the Scott bait switching out with what's a Scott, WHAT birthday, it's just little ole me, Ryan, and my fab lifestyle - is just like Jessica's. They really like to set it up, get people wtf-ing and speculating. We can all save the speculating if we know what it is every single time.
DeleteDon't forget that she's never actually had Ryan on any of her recent social media, by picture, name, retweet, or even that she has a "boyfriend". It's all been others, so her hands are clean (thus far).
Delete7:28
DeleteUpthread blogger points out if we keep in mind what it is (sham-lies-a hoax) there is no need to bother with speculations because we already know what to expect.
That's so true. I've been following VM for years and it has never. failed. Never. Everything leads to their sham. It's refreshingly amusing to *always* be able to sit back and watch and know the outcome. And yep. It's sham.
All that to say, Tessa had no problem parading down a *very public* red carpet and posing with Ryan's arm around her waist. In another picture from that same evening his hand is far enough down it's practically on her butt.
Considering what the sham director thought was acceptable for Scott to be doing with his fake honeys, I don't put anything past Tessa. If we take Scott's storyboarding as precedent, then Tessa's sham is barely starting to heat up.
After all, doesn't she also deserve her very own "hot and heavy"? Hahaha
Tessa's fun with Ryan will only heat up if Scott has become a whole lot more chill about her since marriage/parenthood. So we'll see. You're right, his status on her social media means nothing. Everybody else is doing the work for her. The last sham had Scott stay coy about Cassandra to the point where it appeared the presentation was going to be less gross than the one with Jessica, and then oh, we were wrong. It was grosser.
DeleteI do wonder what accounts for the incredibly childish tone of the sham, but I figure it's pandering. That's how the figure skating culture rolls. "We can't skate to this music or do this program, our judges are 110 years old". Skaters have also talked about how certain programs won't be appreciated by "our audience" (code for stupid old ladies, stupid little girls, stupid women in general). So I figure the sham thinks it's pandering to the stupid target demo, and isn't stupid itself. It's also an opportunity for VM and their connections to do exactly what they did on facebook - pat themselves on the back and practice being amateur public relations professionals, which is a very challenging task. Suck up with exclamation points and plug something. In the case of Tessa's instagram, it's the sham.
"Tessa's fun with Ryan will only heat up if Scott has become a whole lot more chill about her since marriage/parenthood. So we'll see."
DeleteI've also wondered about this, knowing how Scott usually is with other straight guys touching her (presuming RS is straight, of course). I was actually surprised he let it go as far as it did on the red carpet...but then in the next day pictures RS looked like he had been admonished and afraid to even stand next to her, let alone awkwardly hold her arm. Then the last picture they stuck a person in between them, lol.
However, they do have the history, as you pointed out OC, of making things gross just when you think it's not so bad, so I could see this going either way.
Maybe I'm giving all three too much credit, but I would hope the pregnancy would limit this kind of interaction during a sham involving her (I know it didn't matter with him and Jessica), especially since they've determined they can already get so much out of the story by fake tweets and implications alone. Yet, they've definitely proven me wrong before in regards to lines they're willing to cross to sell the fake story. I would obviously prefer they didn't, but I can say nothing would surprise me at this point from them.
I really wish some people who visit this blog would visit message boards that discuss real sports, where stuff is called out on and off the field of play, and if somebody ever tried to run something like this sham they'd be ridiculed off social media. Figure skating fans certainly have been taught to believe they're low status and inferior.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Tanith's need to make a living won't be as pressing once she's married to Charlie.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely - as long as ANYBODY stays in the sport in whatever capacity from comment booth to training center, we're not going to hear anything the ISU doesn't want us to hear. Unless it's a complaint about high scores for Russians.
